00:24 Hello, boys and girls.
00:25 And welcome to Kids Camp Creation Crafts.
00:28 We are so glad you are joining us today.
00:30 Are you ready for some craft fun?
00:32 We are.
00:33 I'm your host, Miss Suzi. I'm Mr. Ryan.
00:35 I'm so glad that you've joined us
00:37 and we have some helpers here in our studio,
00:39 the purple people.
00:40 Are you guys ready to make some crafts?
00:42 Yes!
00:46 Wow, you guys are really excited.
00:49 You guys might need a little help,
00:51 maybe a little referring,
00:52 let's bring on our referees.
00:53 Thanks ladies for helping us.
00:55 We have some helpers with these crazy kids here.
00:58 When you're doing crafts,
00:59 sometimes you need lots of help.
01:01 We've got some fun things out here.
01:02 What are we gonna make today, Miss Suzi?
01:03 All right.
01:05 Today we are gonna make some cute fuzzy caterpillars!
01:07 And on this show,
01:08 we like to connect scripture and a craft.
01:11 Mr. Ryan, what is our Bible verse for today?
01:13 Our Bible verse today comes from 2 Corinthians 5:17
01:19 and it says "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ,
01:22 he or she is a new creation
01:26 and old things have passed away and behold,
01:29 all things have become new."
01:31 So the key thought for today is new creation.
01:35 And we thought, what kind of thing
01:37 represents a new creation?
01:39 Nothing better than a caterpillar.
01:41 So we're gonna make these little caterpillars,
01:43 and Miss Suzi's gonna lead us in a turn by turn,
01:46 direction by direction, cut by cut.
01:49 Take it away, Miss Suzi. That's right.
01:50 Are we ready for some crafting, kids?
01:52 Yes!
01:58 We definitely have some enthusiasm
02:00 for some caterpillars, don't we?
02:02 That's exciting.
02:04 All right.
02:05 Well, boys and girls, today we will be using hot glue guns.
02:09 How many of you here on the set have used hot glue guns before?
02:13 All right. Okay.
02:14 Most of them have. All right.
02:16 First we wanna go for a little bit of safety.
02:19 When we do hot glue guns, they are hot.
02:21 So you need to be careful.
02:23 You don't wanna touch the tip, or the glue as it comes out
02:26 because it will be quite hot and you don't wanna get burned.
02:29 Okay.
02:31 So for our first step in making our caterpillars,
02:34 we are gonna take our hot glue gun,
02:36 and one of our clothes pins.
02:40 And we are gonna start dotting glue
02:43 and adding our pompoms to the clothes pin.
02:47 So go ahead and do that now.
02:49 We can add a dot.
02:50 And then quickly put a pompom.
02:52 And then you quickly wanna put them on
02:53 because this will harden about three seconds or so.
02:57 So you want to make sure that you get it on there
03:00 before it dries, but if it does, that's okay.
03:02 It does peel off and then you can restick it.
03:06 Good job.
03:08 Now I like to call this stuff 3 Second Rule.
03:10 You may have heard of the 5 Second Rule,
03:13 this is the 3 Second Rule
03:14 and you've gotta get your object into the glue
03:16 before it becomes cold and not sticky.
03:20 Very good!
03:22 Are you guys getting lots of strings?
03:24 Yes. Yes, it's kind of stringy.
03:27 That's okay.
03:28 What do we do with them, Miss Suzi?
03:30 Well, you can just pull them off
03:31 right at the ends.
03:33 It gets a little messy, but that's okay.
03:36 We'll just pull them off.
03:37 Okay, we're gonna do the same thing
03:39 to our second clothes pin.
03:41 We're gonna go ahead and make a second caterpillar
03:44 by putting our hot glue dots down the clothes pin,
03:48 and we'll stick our little pompoms on it.
03:53 So let's go ahead and do that.
03:56 Oh, I think we're still making it
03:57 through on our first one, Miss Suzi.
03:59 Okay. That's all right. They're doing great.
04:03 Good job, you guys.
04:04 And you get to pick whatever color you want.
04:06 Have you guys seen caterpillars out in the wild?
04:09 Yes! Yes.
04:11 What kind of colors have you seen?
04:13 You guys remember anything?
04:15 Black and yellow.
04:16 Here we go, what have you seen, Jeff?
04:17 Black and yellow.
04:19 Black and yellow ones, okay.
04:20 Orange and green.
04:21 Oh, Orange and green?
04:23 Wow, these are some fun colors.
04:24 Green and black.
04:26 Oh, we've seen some green and black ones.
04:28 Oh, be careful, they're hot in there, Cadence.
04:31 All right.
04:32 Oh man, we love caterpillars.
04:33 They can be so colorful. They can be.
04:36 But you know, boys and girls,
04:38 some of them you have to careful
04:39 because some of them do have stinging hairs.
04:42 So we want to be careful
04:43 and get parent's permission first
04:45 before touching them.
04:47 Okay, when we have our second one made,
04:49 we're gonna go ahead and put on our googly eyes.
04:52 We love googly eyes.
04:53 They're great for many things.
04:56 So what we need you to do now is,
04:59 open up the clothes pin just
05:01 so you know this is gonna be where the head is
05:03 and where the eyes are.
05:05 Okay, right here we're gonna go ahead
05:07 and put our eyes on this front pompom here,
05:11 where the clothes pin opens up.
05:16 Wanna make sure we have about four pompoms
05:19 or little cotton balls for each one
05:20 that seems to work out really well
05:22 and you can pick whatever colors you want.
05:27 There we go.
05:28 You can just go ahead and put three on.
05:30 Now I have a question.
05:31 Do caterpillars stay caterpillars?
05:35 No. No.
05:37 Who knows what they turn into?
05:38 Butterflies.
05:40 Let's take Christiana over here.
05:41 I saw her hand up.
05:44 Butterflies.
05:45 Butterflies and there's another thing.
05:49 What would that be?
05:51 Oh, Abby, I saw her hand shoot up here.
05:53 Let's look in our...
05:55 Chrysalis. Okay.
05:57 They go into a chrysalis before they turn
06:00 but there is another animal.
06:02 We have butterflies
06:03 and I think I saw Noah's hand here.
06:05 Here we go.
06:06 Moths. Moths, that's right.
06:08 We have butterflies and moths...
06:11 Very good.
06:12 That start out as caterpillars.
06:15 Okay, how are we doing, kids?
06:17 Getting our eyes on,
06:18 we're getting our eyes on our caterpillar?
06:20 I have a question too.
06:21 I really wanna know what is a caterpillar?
06:25 Do you have a good description of what is a caterpillar?
06:28 Does anybody know?
06:29 How would you describe it?
06:32 Kind of like a worm with legs.
06:34 Yeah, I heard it was like a worm in a blanket.
06:39 Noah, you ever heard that?
06:41 Hey, Hannah, what do you think?
06:43 It's a kind of like a worm
06:45 that crawls on trees and eat leaves.
06:47 Oh, that's right.
06:49 And they're always so hungry.
06:51 Are you guys ever hungry?
06:53 Yes! Yes.
06:55 Caterpillars are always eating,
06:56 they had to eat so much food every day.
06:59 Oh, no, it's gonna get me, ah.
07:02 All right.
07:03 Does that one have eye? Ooh, that one had eyes on it.
07:06 We're getting some of our eyes put on here.
07:08 Great job, Cadence.
07:09 I don't have eyes. No!
07:12 You get to be a miracle worker and help them to see.
07:15 All right.
07:16 Get some googly eyes on there. Good job.
07:18 Okay, boys and girls.
07:20 I think we're doing great here with the googly eyes.
07:21 The next step after we get our caterpillars assembled
07:25 is we are going to draw a leaf.
07:28 So you can use your green paper,
07:31 and we're gonna draw a leaf here
07:34 for these caterpillars to be able to sit on.
07:37 You can make it as big or small as you want
07:39 and since I have two caterpillars,
07:42 I'm gonna make mine kind of big.
07:45 And then you can go ahead
07:46 and cut that out with your scissors.
07:55 You guys like using the glue guns?
07:58 Yeah, I think this is a crafter's favorite tool.
08:02 It's a bit dangerous.
08:04 You should always try to have some,
08:05 maybe some ice or something cold
08:07 around in case you get,
08:08 you know you touch something hot there.
08:10 Ooh wow, Kate's gonna get me with her caterpillar there.
08:14 Wow.
08:16 Hey do you guys know what kind of pillar
08:17 never needs holding up?
08:21 What was that?
08:23 A caterpillar!
08:24 Very good. That's right.
08:27 All right.
08:29 Hey kids, how are you doing on getting our leaves
08:30 drawn and cut out?
08:32 Are we getting there? Okay.
08:33 Wow, they're starting to draw their leaves.
08:34 I think Abby has a question.
08:36 Did you, Abby? Oh you...
08:37 Jessica?
08:39 Since you keep giving out riddles,
08:41 I thought I had one for you.
08:42 Oh, they have one for me, okay.
08:44 What's the beginning of every little thing
08:46 and the end of space and time?
08:49 I don't know, what is it? The letter 'E'.
08:51 Ah, that's a great one.
08:54 You know, you can only that jokes
08:56 when you're all grown up.
08:59 Okay.
09:00 Grown I meant that... All right.
09:02 But I appreciate the jokes and they help the time to go
09:05 when we can talk and have fun with each other.
09:08 That's why I like doing crafts.
09:11 You guys are doing a great job of designing your caterpillars
09:14 and your leaves.
09:15 Boy, I wonder what God did when he was thinking about
09:18 all of these things for you and me
09:20 and all of these creatures.
09:22 He is a wonderful designer and creator.
09:24 That's what inspires us.
09:25 And these are nothing like the real thing.
09:28 Good job.
09:29 You guys can start cutting those...
09:31 Okay, and after we have our leaf cut out,
09:33 we can go ahead
09:35 and punch a couple of holes in it.
09:38 In this way, it looks like as our caterpillars
09:40 are sitting on our leaf.
09:42 It looks like they're eating it.
09:46 And we'll go ahead... All right.
09:48 This is where we show your hungry caterpillars.
09:49 And we'll go ahead and we will attach
09:52 our caterpillars to our leaf, just like this.
09:56 Yeah, way to do that.
09:58 Let's go and punch a few holes.
10:01 There's another hole punch if you guys didn't knew.
10:04 You need a hole punch?
10:06 Okay great.
10:08 We're getting holes, we're getting...
10:09 I see the veins you guys have drawn on the leaves
10:12 really realistically.
10:14 Oh you might need a bigger leaf here
10:16 so you can get two hungry caterpillars in it,
10:18 eating on it at the same time.
10:21 Wow!
10:24 Caterpillars are like kids.
10:25 Man, they got to be fed all the time!
10:30 Who would like to name their caterpillar?
10:33 Oh!
10:34 Oh, how about we go around and see who would like
10:36 to name their caterpillar?
10:41 Christiana, do you have a name for your caterpillar?
10:43 Not yet. Not yet, okay.
10:45 Be thinking of one. Carter do you have one?
10:47 Not yet. Oh, okay.
10:48 Be thinking of your name you guys,
10:49 we wanna go around and see we can come up with a name...
10:51 Oh, Cadence has one. What do you have?
10:52 I only know one of my caterpillar's name color.
10:56 You just gonna name it color?
10:57 Okay Color, the caterpillar.
10:59 Why is that Cadence?
11:02 Because my caterpillar was very colorful.
11:05 They are very colorful, aren't they?
11:07 That's right.
11:09 Kate, do you have a name for your caterpillar?
11:11 I don't know how to spell it but this one's name is Kiwi.
11:15 Kiwi, I like that.
11:17 How about you, Noah?
11:18 Oh, I haven't made one yet.
11:20 You have to come up with a name?
11:22 Oh, man this is the fun part.
11:24 When you're creating little creatures,
11:25 you gotta give them names.
11:27 Wow.
11:28 Wow all right, Jasmine.
11:30 I have one, a name for one of them,
11:32 and it's Pink top
11:34 because I put a little pink hat on it.
11:35 All right. Pinktop, all right. Hannah?
11:38 I have one name for my caterpillar
11:41 and it's called Rainbow.
11:42 Rainbow, excellent.
11:44 Angel, do you have a name for your caterpillar?
11:47 Uh...
11:51 I don't know.
11:52 Okay, I don't know, that's a great name.
11:54 I sometimes call my kids that.
11:56 Who are you? I don't know.
11:58 And all three of you get here.
12:00 All right, Jeff's got another...
12:01 My other caterpillar's name is Googly eye.
12:03 Googly eye. That's a good name.
12:05 Remember, all right, Abby up front here.
12:07 She's got a name and then we'll get to Ben next.
12:09 You guys have come up with some fun names.
12:11 I named one Catha and one Brock.
12:14 What was the name again? Catha and Brock.
12:16 Catha and Brock, okay.
12:18 We're getting some. All right. Now we're coming back here.
12:20 Go ahead, Christiana.
12:22 I named, I only thought of one
12:26 and Sherbet for Sherbet ice cream.
12:29 Wow. What's on your mind right now?
12:32 Frank and Georgie.
12:34 Frank and Georgie. Nice Ben.
12:36 Good practical names there.
12:39 Carter? One of mine is Speedy.
12:42 Speedy?
12:43 Oh, yeah, that's good, that's right.
12:46 Give them a fast name
12:47 for these little slow munching guys here.
12:49 I'm calling mine Santa.
12:51 Oh, Santa?
12:53 Thanks Hannah, that's great.
12:54 These are some very creative names, I love it.
12:57 I think I'm gonna name mine, Cat and Pillar.
13:00 Oh, there you go.
13:02 I was thinking of that.
13:04 Oh you're thinking of that too, Cadence.
13:06 Wow, these are fun
13:07 and what kind of things can we do
13:09 with these caterpillars?
13:10 I mean that's fun to have them sit there,
13:12 but can you think of some uses for these?
13:15 Good to go. Hannah?
13:17 Little races.
13:20 Oh, you could do like a little races with them?
13:21 Oh, that's a great idea. What about you, Angel?
13:23 What can we do with these caterpillars?
13:31 What are they?
13:35 Pins.
13:37 Oh, okay, you can pin things.
13:38 Are you something for that? Okay.
13:41 If you need to explain something
13:43 about the caterpillars, you can use it as a...
13:46 As an example. Example.
13:47 Wow, these are great things.
13:49 Well, we're kind of running out of time here
13:51 and we'll keep thinking of other uses.
13:53 Now, boys and girls, remember, you can go to our website
13:56 3abnkidscamp.tv
13:59 to have the instructions and all the supplies.
14:02 Thank you for joining us here on Creation Class,
14:04 where scripture inspires creativity.
14:09 You guys are doing great.
14:10 Yeah, we'll practice some other things.
