00:21 - Hello and welcome to "Jesus for Asia Now".
00:24 Today, my Husband Jon is here with me
00:25 and we've got a total miracle to share with you.
00:29 Hello, Love.
00:30 - Hi Darling, how are you?
00:31 - I'm excited.
00:32 - [Jon] Good.
00:34 - I say that a lot though, because it's always exciting
00:35 to hear updates from the field.
00:37 - That's one of the reasons we like these shows.
00:39 We get to talk about the good stuff.
00:41 - Right, right.
00:42 And what we have first is an absolute total miracle.
00:47 - Yes.
00:49 - That God is turning in to a total miracle.
00:52 - Yes.
00:53 It's interesting because you see
00:55 a lot of people say, is there really a God?
00:58 And then you see evidence that is so crystal clear
01:02 that if you think about it, there is no other explanation.
01:06 - Right.
01:07 Well, let's start the video now.
01:08 - [Jon] Okay.
01:09 (slow tense music)
01:21 (speaking in foreign language)
01:22 - [Interpreter] My child said, "Father, our house
01:25 "is about to catch fire".
01:27 There were so many burning embers flying in the air
01:29 and the wind was so strong heading right towards my house.
01:33 I said, "It's up to God".
01:55 (speaking in foreign language)
01:57 - [Interpreter] Earlier, when I stood on the ashes
01:59 that remained, I couldn't hold back my tears.
02:03 - There is no human logic,
02:05 human reason which can explain the situation here.
02:09 - [Interpreter] Logic has no way of explaining this.
02:13 There is only one explanation for this,
02:16 a mangyan term for it, means a reverent fear.
02:21 (gentle upbeat music)
02:32 (speaking in foreign language)
02:35 - [Interpreter] We have been working to reach this community
02:38 for two years.
02:40 The work was hindered because of the fighting
02:43 between the soldiers and the rebel armies.
02:49 This displaced the people who lived here.
02:52 Now they are returning because their livelihood
02:55 is still here.
02:58 - [Man] More than two years ago.
02:59 - [Interpreter] More than two years ago,
03:01 the resistance against us from the people here
03:03 was too strong for us.
03:06 (speaking in foreign language)
03:08 But through the initiative of Brother Berning,
03:10 who expressed the need for a teacher
03:12 and a school and someone to encourage them to go to church,
03:16 we persevered and put up a school here.
03:20 To others, it may look like a hut,
03:22 but that is a school.
03:24 That is where the missionaries lived.
03:28 There hasn't been anyone here since June of 2018,
03:31 because of the fear that people had about the issue
03:34 of the rebel army being around here.
03:39 They were afraid that they would get caught
03:40 in the middle of the fighting that was happening
03:42 between the two sides.
03:46 So they abandoned this place for awhile.
03:51 (slow tense music)
03:57 (speaking in foreign language)
03:59 - [Interpreter] The fire was started,
04:00 when someone set a rice field on fire
04:02 and left it unattended.
04:05 There were two rivers between the fire and the house
04:07 and he believed the fire could not cross the rivers.
04:15 - [Interpreter] I ran so fast.
04:19 When the fire was near the river bank,
04:21 I went directly to the houses.
04:26 I began getting things out of the schoolhouse.
04:32 In my mind I could see it catching on fire.
04:35 It wasn't until I finished taking everything out
04:38 that I stood over there in the forest to watch.
04:45 I prayed and trusting the schoolhouse to God.
04:52 I said, "Lord, I leave the watch care of this house to you.
04:57 "Since this is the house of the missionaries.
05:03 "Give this as a demonstration for others to see the truth".
05:09 - [Interpreter] The houses were right in the middle
05:11 of the fire.
05:12 This happened simultaneously, not little by little,
05:15 but on the left and on the right.
05:19 If it's an open fire and you're here, how hot would that be?
05:24 It's so hot that people were thinking Berning is dead.
05:32 Then the fire was divided.
05:34 One part was going this way,
05:36 the other part was going that way.
05:40 When it got close, the wind suddenly shifted.
05:46 The fire barely missed this house.
05:54 But the embers had reached the house and landed on the roof
05:56 since they were coming from farther down wind.
06:01 The embers coming from nearby, landed on the other side.
06:07 When the fire missed this place,
06:09 I then looked at my own house.
06:14 I was thinking what a loss my house would be.
06:19 I said, "Lord, I leave my house to you.
06:23 "It's so valuable".
06:25 I told myself it's going to burn for sure.
06:29 The fire was so close.
06:34 I shouted, "Lord, watch over my house.
06:38 "I place my trust in You".
06:46 My child says, "Father, our house.
06:48 "It's going to burn".
06:50 With all those embers.
06:57 For a minute, the roof was already smoking.
07:00 The smoke was that high.
07:03 And the wind this strong going in the direction
07:05 of the house.
07:08 I said, "It's up to God".
07:11 Then suddenly, the wind changed direction
07:13 and the fire missed our house too.
07:16 By God's grace, our house was saved.
07:20 (epic music)
07:27 - [Interpreter] That's why I was so astonished.
07:29 The river was wide but the fire crossed over it.
07:32 The distance to the house of the missionaries
07:33 was narrower together with the house of Brother Berning.
07:36 And there was dry brushing between.
07:39 Why didn't it keep burning after it crossed the river?
07:45 (speaking in foreign language)
07:46 - [Interpreter] Think of being surrounded by a wall
07:48 of fire, 20 feet high.
07:51 Because that's the height of the bushes.
07:57 In our house and the house of Brother Berning,
07:59 the walls are made of cogongrass and very flammable.
08:04 It's so easy to set it on fire.
08:06 You can't play around with matches.
08:09 That low and behold, these two houses were left standing.
08:14 (speaking in foreign language)
08:18 - [Interpreter] And the word of the spouse
08:19 of one person we helped, by giving health services to,
08:24 was that the God of the missionary serving
08:27 this place is real.
08:31 My heart was filled with joy when they said,
08:34 that when they returned to their houses,
08:36 they will join Berning.
08:47 - [Man] This is a tragedy.
08:48 - [Interpreter] It's a tragedy for them
08:49 to lose their houses.
08:51 But God permits that according to His own wisdom.
08:55 Because God wants to reach the people,
08:57 surrounding this place.
09:02 When they see this place, that the only ones left
09:05 are the houses of Brother Berning and the missionaries.
09:10 - [Man] People cannot deny
09:14 that there is a true God
09:17 among His servants here.
09:20 (high rhythmic music)
09:37 - Here's this fire that somebody started to--
09:40 it was just a regular agricultural burn.
09:43 There is a big old river,
09:45 a large creek between the fire and the village.
09:50 It jumps this river, because the wind is blowing
09:53 and there's nothing but dry grass.
09:55 And it starts burning through nothing but dry grass
09:58 towards the house and the missionary.
10:02 It burns up all the other--
10:03 - Houses. - Houses there
10:05 that are made out of dry grass,
10:07 dry grass roof, dry grass fences, dry grass,
10:10 I mean, dry bamboo or dry wood walls,
10:13 just burns them to ashes, just poof!
10:17 And then those embers that like, go ahead.
10:20 The ashes, the burning embers, land on the dry grass roof
10:24 and it starts to smoke.
10:26 And I asked them about that.
10:27 What happened to the roof?
10:29 'Cause he said they started to smoke and he says,
10:31 well, when he prayed, it just.
10:36 The wind changed.
10:37 Even if the wind changed, you would think
10:40 that would still burn the dry grass.
10:41 But it's just like, everything just went the other way
10:44 and just died down.
10:46 It's the wind turned it back on itself
10:48 and it just died down out of it.
10:50 So that is a miracle.
10:52 - Yeah, yeah.
10:53 And the fact that he was saved, 'cause he was right there
10:57 at the house.
10:58 And God just saved both of those houses
11:02 while everything else burned.
11:04 And He did it as a testimony to Himself.
11:07 Now the people in that village,
11:09 who were reluctant to attend church
11:13 or to learn about God before,
11:15 now they know, there's a real God.
11:17 These people know a real God and now they're interested.
11:22 - Right.
11:22 - So it's amazing.
11:24 I mean, it's so sad all those houses burned.
11:26 It just makes my heart so sad to think about that.
11:29 - It probably didn't have insurance.
11:31 (both laughs)
11:32 - No, and that's a lot of work for themselves
11:35 to go and find the wood and everything
11:37 to make their houses with.
11:39 - Yeah, now there is one little part in there in the video
11:41 where it showed the contrast.
11:43 Is like similar shots of that village before
11:45 and after the fire.
11:47 And so I kinda, I pulled those out
11:49 and I wanna show them again, just to give you the contrast
11:53 of you get a sense of what the village was
11:56 before the fire came through.
11:59 Now you can see, this is a green time of the year,
12:01 but you can see all these different houses and now yeah.
12:05 And the fire came from across from the other side
12:07 of of that river.
12:09 And the river was higher
12:12 when the fire came. - At that time.
12:14 - Yeah, and you can see there's two.
12:15 Now, I am not quite sure what the deal is
12:18 but across the second river in the background,
12:21 I would have expected to see some burned areas there.
12:25 But I think they planted, I've asked them about that.
12:27 They've planted since then.
12:28 So the fire came from across that river,
12:31 hop those two rivers.
12:33 And so it must've been pretty hot and pretty intense.
12:35 - Right, and the wind was blowing hard.
12:37 - Yeah.
12:38 And catch fire with that dry grass.
12:40 And then it should have just--
12:42 well obviously it just burned right& through the village.
12:45 And then it just the fact that it stopped
12:47 at Brother Bernie's house and the missionary house,
12:50 the school, is a total miracle.
12:53 - Yeah. Wow!
12:54 - This reminds me of the other miracle
12:56 that they had in an earlier show,
12:57 where they had rented a rice field.
13:01 So they could grow rice for the Mangyans
13:04 that came to their house asking for food.
13:06 - Right.
13:07 - And do you remember what happened?
13:08 - Yeah, there was a heavy rainstorm.
13:10 It was a horrible rainstorm.
13:12 And their field was in the lower part.
13:14 So it should have flooded.
13:16 And with the heavy rain, it also should
13:18 have knocked down all the rice, but most of their field
13:21 was still standing while all the rice around it
13:24 was flattened.
13:26 And that's because it was Gods rice.
13:28 - Yeah, that's right. And I still have a picture in my mind
13:31 of Sister Jessica standing on the little trail
13:33 between the other field and their field.
13:37 And their field is like this,
13:39 the field is flattened
13:40 and because that's God's field.
13:42 And so, God has a heart for the Mangyans too, it seems.
13:45 - Yes, yes.
13:47 - And to have His name.
13:49 To put so much effort and thought
13:51 and into making His name known among them.
13:55 - Yeah, yeah.
13:56 Wow! God is good.
13:58 - God is very good.
13:59 - So, what has happened in that village since the fire?
14:03 - Well, there's a lot of interest created in this God
14:06 that preserved those two buildings.
14:08 And so we just got an update recently from Pete and Jessica,
14:13 as they were coming back from that village,
14:16 riding their bicycles, since they don't have
14:19 any vehicles anymore.
14:20 They all broke down, which is a big prayer need right now.
14:25 If our viewers could please join us in praying
14:27 for vehicle for Pete and Jessica,
14:29 that they can do the ambulance ministry
14:33 and bring in the food supplies
14:34 for the children's feeding programs
14:37 and all these other things.
14:39 But you can hear,
14:41 we'll play this little clip about them giving us an update
14:44 of what's happening up there in that village.
14:48 - Hello Brother Jon, Sister Natalie
14:50 and JFA family.
14:52 We are coming home from Kanroan.
14:55 And for the first time, since
14:58 we opened the place after the miracle fire,
15:02 the missionary called for special fellowship
15:05 among Mangyan brethren.
15:07 And praise the Lord, the school was so full
15:09 of Adventist Mangyan brethren this morning.
15:11 Today, in fact we are so inspired that
15:14 in spite of the lockdown here, but in the mountain,
15:17 we can still move freely by the grace of the Lord.
15:19 Nobody's accepted except us missionaries
15:24 from the house of the bearded man.
15:28 Only that is the process.
15:31 Even our visit ours are welcome.
15:38 Even our visitors are welcome in the village
15:42 because of us.
15:43 So praise the Lord.
15:44 The Lord is still working.
15:47 Crusaders are being conducted.
15:51 We just finished today a crusade from the tribe,
15:54 from a community and another community is requesting
15:57 for evangelistic meetings and so many requests.
16:03 So, thank you very much brethren.
16:06 The Lord is working here in the ministry, through you too,
16:10 for your support.
16:12 And thank you so much, God bless you.
16:15 Brethren, we are so inspired!
16:18 My wife will send you pictures
16:25 when we can as soon as possible.
16:27 And God bless you.
16:28 Thank you very much!
16:31 See you in heaven if not on earth!
16:39 - Take care brothers and sisters!
16:41 God bless, fellow workers in Christ.
16:44 - God bless, God bless
16:51 - Oh, poor Jessica.
16:53 (both laughs)
16:54 - Filming it while riding the bicycle like this.
17:00 But isn't that amazing?
17:01 I mean, the school is filled with children
17:04 having this children, having this children now.
17:06 - Yeah.
17:07 - And there's this-- - And believers.
17:08 - Yeah, believers.
17:10 And requests for evangelism.
17:13 From all different villages and stuff.
17:15 So the word is spreading.
17:16 - Yeah.
17:18 Well, we wanna transition now from this beautiful testimony
17:20 that we've just heard and the fire miracle.
17:24 - [Jon] Yes.
17:25 - We want to transition to a different kind of ministry
17:27 that God is raising up.
17:29 - This is a ministry started by a young person
17:31 with a burden on his heart.
17:32 Against all odds, against the odds
17:35 that would just make most people just give up and go home.
17:40 But he believes in God, he believes in a God
17:43 that answers prayer.
17:45 And so he's moved forward by faith
17:46 and we're sharing this ministry here to inspire anybody
17:49 that has a similar heart to do this work
17:52 in their community or to support him
17:54 and in ministries like him.
18:00 (emotional music)
18:13 (speaking in foreign language)
18:18 - [Interpreter] The year 2016,
18:20 a friend of mine invited me to be his partner
18:22 in a radio program.
18:25 During that time, I was introduced to the radio industry.
18:31 And hope that someday, to be able to have my own radio,
18:35 where I could preach and share the message of God.
18:42 - So I pray for it.
18:45 - [Interpreter] One day, someone was willing
18:46 to support the ministry.
18:50 And so we bought a slot in a radio station,
18:52 schedule every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday,
18:55 where I can be heard preaching.
18:57 There are only two radio stations here in Culasi,
19:00 in the Northern part of Antique.
19:02 People here have only two radio stations to choose from.
19:06 If they don't listen to the other radio station,
19:08 then surely they will listen to your station.
19:12 Because they have only two options.
19:15 And that is why there are a lot
19:16 who really listened to radio.
19:20 (speaking in foreign language)
19:22 - [Interpreter] Well, I was listening to music on the radio
19:24 that late afternoon, his program played.
19:29 I listened to him and eventually found myself inspired.
19:36 I was enjoying his programs.
19:43 So I kept on listening to him for the next few months.
19:47 I was finally able to accept his teaching.
19:57 (speaking in foreign language)
20:00 - [Interpreter] I remember that was my reviewing time
20:02 for my upcoming board exam.
20:06 One day after my review, while I was resting,
20:10 I think that was past seven in the evening.
20:15 I turned on the radio to relax and I found the radio station
20:18 of Culasi which is just near.
20:30 Then I heard Sir Jhamil, discussing the Bible.
20:37 And from that time on, I keep on listening
20:39 to him every night.
20:50 (speaking in foreign language)
20:54 - [Interpreter] When I turn on my radio,
20:55 I'm not the only one that can hear it.
20:57 Many people can hear it because I've attached
20:59 a wide range speaker.
21:02 The people in the nearby neighborhood.
21:04 The next barrio, even in the Central Plaza
21:06 can all hear the sound from the speaker.
21:09 Only the people out in the mountains are too far
21:12 to hear the radio.
21:24 - [Interpreter] The radio program has helped me
21:27 a lot in my life.
21:29 I found the truth in the Bible to be a sure guide
21:32 so that we can stay on the right path.
21:39 If we follow what the Bible has to say,
21:42 we'll find that it really helps out in our relationships
21:46 and in all areas of our life.
21:54 (speaking in foreign language)
21:57 - [Interpreter] The radio has 1000 Watts
21:58 and it reaches over 60 kilometers.
22:00 For me to establish good communication with my listeners,
22:06 I never forget to give them my mobile number number.
22:11 And remind them that they can contact me 24/7
22:14 to answer their questions.
22:23 And if they have any message they'd like
22:25 to share on the program.
22:34 Aside from that, we can lead the listeners
22:36 to visit our church wherever they are.
22:45 In my program, I always encourage the listeners
22:48 if they want to go to church, they can freely
22:51 visit the church wherever they are.
23:00 Our radio program can reach and open the homes
23:02 for this message.
23:03 It can also reach people that we wouldn't normally
23:06 have any contact with.
23:09 The radio program can especially reach the people
23:11 who are seeking the message of truth,
23:14 but don't know where to start looking for it.
23:22 That is the strength of the radio ministry.
23:28 While, I continue to stay in this place,
23:30 I get to see the real need of the people here.
23:36 First, I see the need for nurturing our brother.
23:43 To make them more mature in and in serving God.
23:48 Not just to be a mature apprentice,
23:51 but mature enough to witness to other people.
23:58 One thing that I desire for this place
24:00 is that God will send more workers here.
24:07 Because most of the places here in Antique
24:10 are still untouched and unentered.
24:13 So the need and demand for workers here are great.
24:17 I also believe that our radio program can be a great help
24:20 to hasten the work.
24:23 One more thing that I really pray is that we can have
24:26 our own apprentice full time radio station,
24:29 because I noticed that most of the people here are fond
24:31 of listening to the radio.
24:34 Even the people inside the local jail.
24:54 The thing is after my one hour program,
24:57 the next program is a secular program
24:59 that leads to nothing and just diverts their minds
25:01 to worldly things.
25:07 So I dreamed that we can also have a full time
25:09 apprentice radio station in this place,
25:13 so they can listen for 24/7 to things that glorify God.
25:19 And as well, establish their relationship with God
25:23 and prepare them for the second coming of Jesus.
25:30 (inspiring music)
25:44 - It's so inspiring to see young people get on fire
25:47 for the gospel.
25:49 You know, so much here in America,
25:51 we see people that, young people that just kind of
25:54 are falling away, just walking away,
25:55 they're losing interest.
25:57 But in the Philippines, you see this movement
26:01 of young people that are hungry for the gospel,
26:04 hungry for God, for truth, and to share that with others.
26:08 It's awesome. - To be active.
26:10 - Yeah.
26:11 And so, this young person that has this heart
26:14 to reach his neighbors in this way.
26:18 I think if other young people see these young people,
26:21 they would get inspired also.
26:23 I'd love to take a whole bunch of young people over
26:25 to Philippines, especially for PYC.
26:29 - Right, the Philippine Youth for Christ gathering.
26:32 - And we've had Gem Castor here on this show,
26:34 talking about that.
26:37 - It's a blessing.
26:38 - It is a huge blessing.
26:39 Yeah, we've been there several times
26:41 and we were inspired as well.
26:44 - And it's need to see the testimonies
26:45 of some of the neighbors, some of the people
26:47 who've been listening.
26:48 And it's been such a blessing to them,
26:50 that one gentlemen, with the loudspeaker,
26:52 it's like everybody around can hear.
26:56 It's kind of funny,
26:58 it's a great way for people to learn about the truth.
27:01 - That's right.
27:02 So we just need to remember to pray for Mindoro.
27:05 For the vehicle that they need.
27:08 For the people that are learning about a God that's real.
27:11 For the evangelistics requests that they've been receiving,
27:14 that they can fulfill all those requests
27:16 and communicate the gospel very clearly
27:19 in their local language.
27:20 Also pray for this young man, Jhamil,
27:23 who's doing this radio broadcasting show.
27:27 Pray that he can have a full time channel
27:29 and then he can have the support that he needs.
27:31 And most importantly, that the spirit continues
27:33 to keep him focused and grounded in the Word of God.
