00:05 #S089 - A Limp Is The First Step In A Leap (Part 2)
00:19 Welcome to the Breath of Life
00:21 Television Ministries broadcast with Pastor Debleaire Snell.
00:26 In today's episode, Pastor Snell preaches part
00:29 two of the powerful message a live is the first step
00:34 in a leap.
00:36 Now let's go deeper into the word of God.
00:40 And I need you to understand that Jacob,
00:43 in this way becomes a symbol of all of us.
00:47 Now, you're going to get mad when I say this,
00:48 because most of us don't go to the deep place
00:52 in God voluntarily.
00:59 Most of us
01:00 don't find that inner place of the most high.
01:04 Just because we feel like it.
01:06 The truth is that most of us
01:10 only find the deep place in God when there is a difficulty
01:15 or any person that drives us into the presence of God
01:21 with an urgency that our upbringing cannot create.
01:25 And I need you to know that there's a difference
01:27 between a driving agent and a satanic attack,
01:32 because a satanic attack
01:34 is going to be the thing that keeps you from praying.
01:38 But a driving agent
01:40 is going to drive you into the prayer closet.
01:43 See, sometimes the driving agent
01:47 is the unchanging circumstance in your marriage.
01:50 Sometimes the driving agent
01:54 is the pressure you feel on your job.
01:57 Sometimes the driving agent is the thorn in your flesh
02:00 that won't be moved.
02:02 Sometimes the driving agent is
02:05 the description nation you face at your place of work.
02:08 And I need you to know, as crazy as it seems,
02:12 if Jacob was here to testify, he would say,
02:15 I thank God for Esau, for he drove me to know God in a way
02:23 I could not have known Him under any other circumstance.
02:27 And I just need to know if I have seven honest sets
02:31 that will thank God for the driving agents
02:34 that pushed you closer to God
02:38 than you would ever get by yourself.
02:44 So notice what happens here.
02:46 Verse 13 Can we stay in the book?
02:48 Are you all still with the pastor?
02:50 Are y'all still with the pastor today?
02:52 So the Bible says so.
02:53 He lives there the same night
02:56 and took notice.
02:58 What happened? He prayed.
02:59 But then he lives there the same night and took what had come
03:03 to his hand as a present.
03:04 For he saw his brother 200 female goats and 20 male goats
03:08 to use in 20 rams.
03:10 30 milked camels with their coats for $0.60.
03:13 Then he delivered them to the hand of his servants.
03:17 Every drove by itself and said to his servants, Pass over
03:20 before me, put some distance between successive droves.
03:25 And he commanded this first one saying,
03:26 When he saw my brother meet you and asked you saying,
03:29 to whom do you belong and where are you going?
03:33 Whose are these in front of you?
03:36 Then you shall say they are your servant.
03:37 Jacobs It is a present sent to my Lord Esau, and behold
03:43 he is also behind us.
03:47 Now, I don't know if you saw what just happened here
03:52 all the way.
03:53 Church Do you realize that after
03:57 Jacob finished praying the story of him
04:02 and Esau should have ended when he said
04:05 Amen?
04:10 Do you realize that once he prayed,
04:14 if he had just trusted in God, that would not have been a need
04:19 for a night of Jacob's trouble and wrestling?
04:23 In other words, notice what happens.
04:27 He on the front end tries to sense gifts to appease God,
04:30 but then he gathers himself, calls on
04:33 God, and claims the promises that God made to Abraham.
04:38 But because there is no immediate result, guess what?
04:40 Panic sets in
04:42 and he goes back to the old way of scamming his way
04:45 out of stuff.
04:48 In other words, he schemed his way out of favor
04:51 with Esau
04:52 and he tries to scheme his way back into favor with Aesop.
04:57 And this is Jacob's pattern to one moment.
05:00 Hold on to God.
05:01 And we got takes too long.
05:03 I'm going to let go of God.
05:05 I'm going to trust God in this season.
05:08 But when the season does change, I'm going to let go of God.
05:11 I'm going to hold on to God in this moment.
05:14 But when I feel shaky, I let go of God and understand
05:17 that Jacob literally becomes a parable
05:21 of the inconsistency of our walk with God.
05:25 Because we walk with God and hold on in one season.
05:29 But then when money gets tight, we let go.
05:32 We hold on to God to get the job.
05:35 But when they say You got to work on Sabbath, we let go.
05:39 We hold on God to get a man, but then we let go.
05:43 When that man makes us compromise our principles.
05:47 And Jacob's pattern is to hold on and let go.
05:51 To hold on and let go, to hold on and let go.
05:55 And so God says, I'm gonna engineer a night of trouble
06:00 that teaches you how to hold on
06:03 and never let go of my hand.
06:07 Okay, so, so, so now,
06:10 you know, I'm trying to figure something out.
06:14 So I'm like, okay,
06:16 God, if you want to save Jacob,
06:20 just give him a Bible study, right?
06:24 If you want to save him, just send him to church.
06:29 But notice he doesn't save Jacob in a church service.
06:34 He saves Jacob in a confrontation.
06:39 He don't save Jacob in a Bible study.
06:42 He saves Jacob in hostility.
06:46 He doesn't save Jacob in a cool with the background
06:50 of the aliens, he saves Jacob in a warfare.
06:55 In other words, he saves Jacob by pushing him around.
06:59 He saves Jacob by knocking him to the ground.
07:02 He saves Jacob by being rough with him
07:06 and understand the manner in which Jacob is saved
07:10 teaches us a critical lesson that you can't have
07:13 any preference about the way God saves you or your children.
07:17 You've got to get to a place where you want to be saved
07:20 so bad that even if God shows up in a confrontation,
07:24 if God
07:26 shows up in a wrestling match, if God has to knock you down
07:30 to get your attention, you say, like Jacob, any way
07:33 you bless me, Lord, I'll be satisfied.
07:40 So, Adam Cole, I'm looking at this thing
07:42 and I'm trying to get like.
07:43 Like the real time.
07:45 I kind of the importance of God
07:50 wrestling with Jacob to the breaking of day.
07:53 And it's funny
07:54 because like one of the things that God began to reveal to me
07:57 is that sometimes wrestling
08:00 is a bonding activity, so that sometimes mothers
08:07 and daughters bond differently than fathers and sons.
08:12 So that my wife and daughter, they might bond while baking
08:15 something in the kitchen, or they might bond by
08:18 getting their hair or nails done.
08:20 They might bond in a very deep and meaningful conversation.
08:25 But brothers, do I get to witness
08:26 that sons and fathers don't bond always in that way,
08:30 but sometimes
08:31 we bond through confrontation and on the basketball court
08:35 that that we bond through a father son rivalry
08:39 that's developed over the years, that sometimes a father
08:42 and son will bond back wrestling with each other.
08:47 In fact, friends of mine, I'll attest
08:49 that sometimes in my own house I got two wonderful big sons.
08:53 But I need to know that sometimes I love them.
08:55 But I don't just come in and give them a hug.
08:58 But sometimes I'll come
08:59 and just bump into them to start something
09:03 that every now and then
09:05 I'll just come in and push them around to see what they going.
09:08 Then that
09:10 that as a dad, sometimes I'll knock them to the ground
09:13 just so that they can get up and we'll begin
09:16 a wrestling match right there in the middle of the bedroom.
09:20 Now, all y'all gentle parents can relate to what I'm saying.
09:23 Go see the therapist after church is over.
09:26 But sometimes fathers and sons born to a wrestling match.
09:31 Are you hear me today?
09:33 And I need you to know that sometimes I start something for
09:37 no good reason.
09:38 But there is a metric behind the madness
09:42 because there is something that takes place
09:45 when me and my sons wrestle with one another.
09:47 See, the truth
09:49 is that me and my oldest, we've been wrestling so long
09:52 that now he knows how to anticipate my moves.
09:56 Because we've been wrestling so
09:57 long, he knows how to imitate my moves
10:02 cause we've been wrestling so long.
10:05 His strength has increased because we've been wrestling
10:08 so long.
10:09 In other words, because we've been wrestling.
10:13 He becomes like me in the process.
10:17 Are y'all hear me today?
10:18 Thanks.
10:20 So, so wrestling is actually bonding activity.
10:25 Now, the other reasons I wrestle with them
10:27 is because my boys, they love us and they're not fighters.
10:30 And so every now and then I realize, Malcolm,
10:34 that there are some kids outside of our house
10:37 that don't care nothing about who they daddy is.
10:40 And so I have to fight with them so that they can handle
10:44 the battles that are waiting for them.
10:46 Not now. Let me tell the truth.
10:49 I don't know if I teach them to turn the other cheek.
10:51 How y'all pray for me in this house the next. So?
10:56 So every now and then,
10:57 Miss Dent, I engage them in a battle and a fight.
11:01 Because remember, Esau, Jacob
11:04 is afraid of Esau who's on his level,
11:08 but he prepares him for Esau by having a fight
11:11 that's beyond his level.
11:13 Okay, let me see y'all on this side.
11:16 He's afraid of Esau, who's on this level.
11:19 So God prepares him in a battle that's beyond his level.
11:22 And he is the same way
11:24 a daddy prepares a son for battle outside of the house.
11:28 Now I know my sons can't beat me,
11:31 but I just believe if they contend with me,
11:33 if they hang with me, if they can just hold on
11:37 with me, if they can just stay in the battle with me,
11:42 if they can fight with Daddy, they can handle any Negro
11:45 on the playground, on the court, in the streets.
11:50 I told them, like my daddy, if you let them whup
11:54 you in the streets, it might be some.
11:59 Now, Haryana.
12:02 So so what God does is he prepares us for
12:06 a horizontal battle by preparing us in a greater battle.
12:11 Let me say this.
12:11 I remember
12:13 probably about eight or nine years ago, you know,
12:15 they had this cotton row run here in the city of Huntsville.
12:19 And so I remember
12:21 there was me and some of the guys
12:22 from the church we trained and they dragged me in
12:25 peer pressure me into doing this cotton roll run
12:27 ten K about 6.2 miles.
12:29 So I remember training for the cotton well run.
12:31 Now, I need you to be clear.
12:32 Saints ain't trying to break no records.
12:36 My ego is not attached to my time.
12:39 My only goal is to get out of the race uninjured.
12:42 Do I have a witness? I the today brothers,
12:45 as I remember.
12:46 Good training and here in Huntsville
12:47 doing a little best I can.
12:49 And I remember Malcolm the day we showed up for the race.
12:52 All of the folk were out there getting the numbers.
12:53 And I see this older gentleman at least
12:57 he was older at the time, and this guy probably had like
12:59 1% body fat on his body.
13:03 I noticed he had some expensive running shoes on his feet.
13:06 And as we got to know each other,
13:07 we made some small talk.
13:09 As he found out that I was from Florida,
13:12 he said, I live in Florida.
13:14 I'm just here to visit a loved one for the weekend.
13:18 And the more comfortable he got as we talk,
13:21 the more condescending Louis he became.
13:24 So this brother man that you can tell he runs all the time.
13:27 He begins to criticize my shoes
13:29 and he's saying, you got on the wrong kind,
13:31 and how are they going to hurt your back down the line?
13:33 And I had on some long basketball shorts
13:36 and he says, Man, you got on these long shorts.
13:37 They got hurt. Your range of motion.
13:39 And I wanted to tell you, I'm looking at too much upper male.
13:41 Find the shorts that you got on.
13:44 You need to go back home and put on some.
13:45 NELSON And you talked about how you got on this big t shirt.
13:49 But what you need is these wicker shirts
13:52 that's going to be able to consume the sweat when you run.
13:54 And so when we got ready to take off for the race,
13:58 he looked at me in a snide way and he says,
14:00 I'll see you at the finish line if you make it.
14:05 And so now I need you now.
14:06 Since I ain't in
14:07 my feelings about this, I just want to finish the race.
14:11 And so now I'm running the race.
14:12 I'm about four and a half miles in.
14:15 And as I look ahead, I see them little tiny
14:18 shorts in front of me and I see them special
14:21 expensive shoes from about 100 yards back.
14:26 And all of a sudden I feel my help coming on.
14:29 I feel a second wind in my spirits.
14:34 I feel like the Lone Ranger about to get my man.
14:38 And I'm getting closer and closer to him.
14:41 And I notice that when we get by the heel,
14:44 he stops running and he starts walking.
14:47 And then it dawns on me he's been training in Florida
14:51 where the ground is flat.
14:54 I've been training in Huntsville,
14:56 where his heels on every corner.
15:00 So when he got to the hills, he was run it out of gas.
15:05 And Ralph, when I got close, I wanted to be a Christian.
15:10 I wanted to turn the other cheek.
15:12 But when I ran by the brother,
15:15 I said, I'll see you at the finish line
15:19 if you get there.
15:24 But because I was trained on a higher level,
15:29 it didn't matter if he had on
15:30 better shoes, it didn't matter if he had on the right side.
15:35 He hadn't wrestled like a wrestler.
15:38 He hadn't felt like I felt he hadn't scaled what I scale
15:42 and can I say to somebody that's cursing your situation
15:45 does go come a day where you praise God
15:48 for the mountains you had to climb
15:50 and the way you had to take and going up the rough
15:53 side of the mountain so that when you pass by those
15:58 who've only been on flat land, just turn and say,
16:01 I'll see you at the finish line if you make it.
16:06 There
16:08 you are here in the world today, friends, as a friend of mine,
16:16 this is why
16:19 Jacob should have just prayed
16:23 and left this thing in the hand of God.
16:26 Let me show you this quote here Patriarchs and Prophets.
16:28 Page 198, put this up on the screen.
16:31 This is why we don't ever need to be trippin.
16:33 We don't need to be stressing.
16:34 We don't need to get overwhelmed.
16:36 We don't need to allow ourselves to be in panic.
16:38 A single day of our lives can you say, man today?
16:40 Church Look at this.
16:41 Patriarchs and prophets. 198 What's this?
16:44 He called Jesus.
16:48 Oh, look at this.
16:51 While Jacob
16:54 was wrestling with the Angel,
16:57 another heavenly messenger was sent to Esau.
17:02 God, in our dream, Esau
17:05 beheld his brother for 20 years and exile.
17:10 He witness his grief at finding his mother dead.
17:14 He saw Jacob in campus by the house of God,
17:18 the God of his father was with him.
17:19 Watch this.
17:20 The two companies at last approached each other,
17:24 the desert cheek, leading his men of war,
17:28 Jacob, with his wives and children, followed by long
17:30 flocks of long lines of flocks and herds.
17:34 Now, in other words, you got an army on this side,
17:36 Jacob, with sheep and women on the other side.
17:39 And at the sight of the crippled sufferer, Esau ran
17:43 to meet them and embraced him and they wept.
17:49 Even the hearts of Israel's rude soldiers were touched,
17:54 but they
17:55 could not account
17:56 for the chains that had come over their captain.
17:59 Okay, so some of y'all already missed it.
18:03 The she says that while Jacob was wrestled,
18:08 God had already sent an angel
18:12 to go ahead and deal with Esau.
18:15 So Jacob didn't need to send no gifts.
18:19 Jacob didn't need to try to pacify him
18:22 because God had already went ahead of him and went out.
18:26 The problem, snatched the courage from Esau
18:31 and fought the battle that he could not win.
18:34 Pastor, what are you trying to say?
18:36 Wow. You trying to figure it out?
18:41 God has already worked it out.
18:47 See how many of us know
18:48 you're waiting on God to do some things?
18:51 No, God has already done it.
18:54 You're just waiting for it to be manifested.
18:57 Can I suggest to somebody today that the bill has already
19:00 been paid,
19:02 that the job has already been secured,
19:05 that the House has already closed, that the healing
19:08 has already take place, that the ministry has already grown
19:13 sick.
19:14 God has gone ahead of you and worked it out.
19:19 You just got to move to where God is already working.
19:23 So why is this?
19:27 The Bible says
19:35 he sends the women
19:38 send the flocks.
19:39 Since Roxanne in the Bible says
19:41 Jacob is left there alone.
19:46 Let me just pause and say this,
19:47 because one of God's greatest efforts in your life
19:52 so that he can get himself and reveal himself to you,
19:54 he's just got to get you along.
19:59 That's the reason God can't reach you
20:01 is because of the company you keep in.
20:05 The reason he can't reach you is because of who you came in
20:09 with on the internet.
20:10 The reason he can't reach you
20:12 is because of who you boo'd up with at the snack shop.
20:16 The reason he can't reach you is because of your boys.
20:18 That's filling your phones and your house with drama
20:22 because they sending you Nikki pictures on Instagram.
20:24 He can't reach you because of who you rolling with.
20:29 And so
20:30 understand that not all betrayal is of the devil,
20:34 not everybody is that ghost you is spiritual attack.
20:38 Sometimes God is commencing a surgery in your life
20:42 to get you separated and loose and untied
20:47 so that he can get you by yourself.
20:52 And the words says that they wrestle
20:57 to the breaking of the day.
21:01 Now I need you to get this today.
21:02 Sense that as this stranger assails Jacob
21:08 in the middle of his prayer, he is startled.
21:12 But if he really Jacob moves into a posture of confrontation,
21:16 assuming that Esau on one of his services has come upon him,
21:21 Jacob gets ready to engage for the very fight of his life.
21:26 But the servant of the Lord says,
21:27 and he notices from the very beginning of this fight,
21:30 that the strength he is combating is not of human
21:35 origin.
21:36 It is clear that this is a battle he cannot win.
21:41 But the thing I like about Jacob
21:44 is that he does not take flights
21:47 when God shows up, he says.
21:50 Since you came for me,
21:53 I'm going to come back for you.
21:56 And you've got to see this thing that God grabs
21:58 Jacob by the arm and God Jacob knocks his arm free.
22:03 That God grants Jacob by the leg
22:06 and Jacob shakes himself loose.
22:08 That God gets Jacob and the full Nelson and Jacob slips away.
22:13 Jacob gets God in the suplex, but somehow God breaks three
22:18 and before they know it, they've been in a sweaty embrace
22:22 where He is so close to God that He can feel the breath of God,
22:26 that the sweat of God is falling upon Him and the Bible says
22:32 that they wrestle all night till the breaking of the day,
22:36 and when the beams of light begin to pierce
22:39 the horizon, the angel says, Let me go
22:44 for the day breaks.
22:46 But Jacob doesn't let him go.
22:49 So the angel touches
22:52 with his finger, the hollow of his thigh,
22:57 and knocks it all the way out of joint.
23:00 Now, I need you to get the miracle,
23:02 because even though he knocks the tie out of joint,
23:06 guess what?
23:06 Jacob is still wrestling
23:09 his own one good leg, and Jacob is guilty of wrestling.
23:13 Jacob gets knocked to the ground,
23:15 but Jacob is still wrestling.
23:17 He grabs the man and he knocks him free.
23:21 And Jacob grabs his garment.
23:22 He shakes it loose.
23:24 Jacob grabs his sandal and he kicks him off.
23:28 Jacob grabs his arm and he shakes him free.
23:31 But after the last time of getting knocked on the ground,
23:35 Jacob gets up on his knees, climbs up the angel's garment,
23:39 grabs him face to face, gets in the face of God
23:43 and says, God, I don't mean to be rude.
23:47 I don't mean to be unseemly, but you can't leave yet.
23:52 And do I have any Jacob's that will get like Jacob
23:56 and say, God, I won't let you go
24:00 until you
24:02 bless me.
24:06 And that ain't even the best part.
24:10 He yells on, goes on to God, Now get what's happening.
24:13 Because this
24:15 is the moment of deliverance
24:18 for somebody in 2025.
24:21 This is where you have to overcome.
24:24 You realize that there is a nerve center around your thigh.
24:28 So if your thigh gets
24:31 knocked out of joint, suddenly it's going to be a pain
24:37 that is unbearable.
24:41 So be honest here yet,
24:43 Jacob is holding on to God
24:46 while experiencing an unbearable
24:49 kind of pain.
24:52 He's holding on to God while dealing with the pain
24:57 that is too human for him not to respond to.
25:00 Now, what's human nature when something is hurting you,
25:04 your natural response is to start holding it.
25:08 Yeah. Okay.
25:09 When something is hurting, your natural response
25:13 is to hold it.
25:15 But notice that when Jacob is hurting,
25:18 he doesn't hold on to us.
25:20 Hurting him. He holds on to God.
25:24 Oh, God,
25:26 he doesn't hold on to his pain.
25:28 He holds on to His Savior.
25:31 He doesn't hold on to his infirmity.
25:34 He holds on to his healer.
25:36 And the word of deliverance to someone today
25:39 is you got to stop holding on to was hurting you
25:44 and you got to stop holding on to your God, stop
25:48 holding on to your ex and start holding on to your God.
25:53 Stop holding on to your parents and start
25:55 holding on to your God.
25:57 Stop holding on to your sickness
26:00 and stop holding on to your God.
26:03 You can't be changed and you can't be free
26:06 until you stop holding on to your pain
26:13 and start
26:14 holding on to your savior.
26:17 Because the truth is, you can't admit it.
26:19 That's why we all look at him crazy
26:21 is that we've been holding on to our hurt
26:24 more than we hold on to the healer.
26:28 We've been holding on to our suspicions
26:30 more than we hold on to our Savior.
26:33 We've been holding on to the ones who left us
26:37 more than we hold on to the God who stands next to us.
26:40 We hold on more to those that have injured us
26:44 more than we hold on to the one that prosperous us.
26:47 And I'm looking to see if I got 18 folk in the room
26:50 who are going to take a leap this year.
26:52 And you're going to say, I'm going experience deliverance.
26:55 You're saying I'm going be set free.
26:58 I'm laying aside the chains of yesterday.
27:01 I'm laying aside every bitterness, I'm casting
27:04 aside every yoke I'm no longer holding on to what hurt me.
27:10 But I'm going to start holding on to my God.
