00:07 Sermon #B724 - "He Made A Way" 00:20 Dr. Byrd: I call your attention to the Book of Luke. Chapter 8, Verses 41, as well. 00:28 Begin Luke chapter 8 verse number 41. Luke chapter 8 verse 41, 00:34 I will read in your hearing from the King James Version of the Bible. 00:38 The word of God says, and behold there came a man named Jairus and he was a ruler of the synagogue 00:48 and he fell down at Jesus' feet and besought him, 00:51 that he would come to his house For he had only one daughter. 00:58 One daughter about twelve years of age and she lay here dying? But as he went, 01:05 the people thronged him. 01:07 At a woman, having an issue of blood twelve years which she spent all 01:13 our living upon Physicians. Neither could be healed of any came, behind him, 01:20 touch the boarder of His Garment And immediately, Barbara said immediately, that means at once, 01:26 her issue of blood stands. Jesus said, who touched me? When all denied, 01:34 Peter and they that were with him said, Master the multitude, throng thee, impress thee, 01:39 and sayest thou who touched me. Jesus said, somebody has touched me, for I perceive that virtue, 01:47 that power is gone out of me. And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling 01:53 and falling down before him. She declared unto him before, all the people for what cause, 01:57 she had touched him and how she was healed immediately. He, Jesus said, unto her daughter, 02:03 be of good comfort. Thy faith, hath made thee whole go in peace, while he yet spake. 02:09 They are cometh from one of the rulers of the synagogues. How saved him. Die. Daughter is dead. 02:14 Troubled, not the master. But when Jesus heard it, he had some him saying fear, 02:19 not believe only and she shall be made whole. 02:23 And when he had cometh to the house, He suffered. No man to go in to save Peter, and James, 02:27 and John, and the father, and the mother of the maiden; verse 52 and all wept and bewailed her. 02:33 But He said weep not, she is not dead, but sleepeth. 02:38 And they laughed Him to scorn knowing that she was dead. And then Jesus, Verse 54 says, 02:45 he put them all out. Took her by the hand and called saying maid, arise. And her spirit came again. 02:54 And she arose, straightway, and he commanded to give her meat. Her parents were astonished, 02:59 but he charged them that they should tell, no man...what was done. 03:08 Today, just allow me a little time to challenge you on the subject. He made away. He made a way. 03:17 God bless us now. Speak, speak in their sanctuary. Speak over their internet airwaves. 03:24 Speak over the television airwaves. Speak over the radio. Speak. Give me strength, oh God. 03:31 Give me power, your power. May your spirit make itself known today. Now, forgive me of my sins, 03:39 and even when the appeal time comes Lord move, 03:42 because someone still today needs to give their life to you. We pray this prayer. 03:46 We ask these things and beg these mercies in Jesus name and for his sake, Amen. 03:53 He made a way. He made a way. Jairus quickly, a ruler of the synagogue, 04:02 comes and bows in front of Jesus and says, my 12 year old daughter, my only daughter, 04:10 is at the point of death. But, if you can come and lay hands on her, she will be healed, 04:21 and she will live. Let me remind somebody on the offset, that 04:28 because Jairus is ruler of the synagogue, that means Jairus is the one in charge of worship. 04:38 Jairus is the pastor. Jairus is the elder. Jairus leads the choir. Jairus leads the praise team. 04:48 Jairus is a religious man, but the Bible says, his daughter is sick. 04:55 Lesson number one for us today, just because you work for the Lord, 04:59 just because you serve his church, does not exempt you from trial and tribulation. 05:05 I wish I had a witness in this place. The rain falls on the just and the unjust. 05:09 I have learned in my experience, that those who serve the Lord, those who work for the Lord, 05:17 will go through trials, will go through...persecution, will go through tribulation. 05:22 But, they will also come out as pure gold. 05:26 The Bible says that Jairus's daughter is sick, his only daughter unto death. 05:31 And there is a large multitude gathered by the seashore. 05:35 But, Jairus seeks Jesus because Jairus knows that what he needs, he doesn't need from anyone else. 05:44 That what he needs, he can only get from Jesus. 05:48 Jairus does not allow the crowd to stop him from getting his blessing. 05:53 Jairus does not allow the crowd, says stop him from what he needs. He needs Jesus, 05:59 so he has to get Jesus. 06:01 Lesson number two for us today. Don't you let anyone or anything stop you from getting your blessing. 06:05 Don't you let anybody stop you from getting to Jesus, in the name of Jesus. 06:10 If you got to get to Jesus, do whatever you got to do to get to Jesus. 06:14 There comes a time in your life where you got to make up your mind, 06:19 that it doesn't make a difference how many folk are around you, how many folks are looking at you, 06:24 what people are saying about you. You've got to be refused to be intimidated by the crowd. 06:29 I'm not worried about what people may say or do. By any means necessary, I don't know about you, 06:35 but I'm trying to get to Jesus. That's why, sometimes as I'm getting a little older now, 06:39 I've learned you got to tell church folk sometime. If you knew what I was here for, 06:44 you would understand why I act like I act. You would understand why I sing like I sing. 06:50 You would understand why I preach like I preach. You would understand why my praise is not programmed. 06:57 Because I'm trying to get in the very presence of God. 07:00 Because in the presence of God is the fullness of joy. So I don't care who else is calling him. 07:06 Pass me not oh gentle Savior. Hear my humble cry while on others thou art calling. 07:13 Lord, don't pass me by. 07:15 Jairus seeks Jesus. The Bible says that Jesus went with him, but on the way to Jairus's daughter, 07:26 there is an interruption. There is a woman with the issue of blood. 07:31 Now the contrast in this text couldn't be more plain. One is a man, the other is a woman. 07:43 One is the ruler of the synagogue. The other has an issue of blood. One is a man of some standing. 07:51 The other is a woman whose problem would have never been heard because she's a woman. 07:57 And to make this contrast even more plain, Jairus asks Jesus first. But there is an interruption. 08:07 There is a woman who has had an issue of blood for 12 years, who has just as much as an emergency, 08:16 as Jairus does. But, Jairus asks first, his condition is serious. Her condition is serious. 08:28 But, Jairus is pleading with Jesus. Come and go with me. But, you know what? 08:37 This woman, she too needs her healing. This woman. She too needs Jesus. And with Jesus, 08:47 just because it is not your turn, does not mean it is not your time. 08:53 I wish I had a witness to this place. 08:55 Today, somebody you're watching right now and maybe somebody is not getting healed 09:00 because you are trying to be sedated and wait your turn. But, when your situation gets bad enough, 09:06 when your situation gets tough enough, you do not care who is in front of you. 09:12 You have got to get your healing. You have got to get your blessing. 09:16 Some people will never learn how to get it. They will never learn how to lay hands on God's miracles 09:22 because they're trying to be sedate, cool, and calm. But, when your situation gets messed up enough, 09:27 when your situation gets jacked up enough, when you need are sure enough miracle, 09:33 are you hearing what I am saying? 09:35 You do not care who is looking at you. You do not care who is talking about. 09:39 You just say, Father, I stretch my hand to thee because there is no other help that I know. 09:46 This woman is desperate. She has an issue of blood. It is constantly flowing. She is constantly weak. 09:53 There is a stench. And it kept her from church because in the Book of Leviticus, 09:59 a woman could not enter the temple on the time of her cycle. 10:03 This woman had an issue of blood that would not dry up. It was chronic and the issue was constant. 10:09 She probably even could not get married because no man would come near her. 10:13 Because according to Old Testament law, she had to cry unclean. 10:18 And if she were married with children, she had to get away from her family 10:22 because of her unclean condition. So, this woman is desperate, but Jairus is first. 10:31 He's first in line and in her mind she says, I know it is not my turn but I believe it is my time. 10:43 And friends, when your situation gets desperate enough, when your back up against the wall, 10:51 pride goes out the window. Status goes out the window. Degrees go out the window. 11:01 Social standing goes out the window because when your situation is tore up from the floor up, 11:08 you have got to get to Jesus. 11:11 And it is in this woman's desperate condition that she develops a confidence 11:16 because the Bible teaches that she had heard reports about Jesus. 11:22 She had to then act on what she heard. 11:25 You see, I've learned in my life is that sometimes you have got to act on what you hear 11:30 until you get some information of your own. 11:33 The woman says, look, I know I won't get a chance to talk with him. 11:38 But, if I can just get to where he is. If I could just find out when and where he is passing by. 11:48 If I can just get she said, in that crowd, I know they do not want me there because of my condition. 11:53 But, I am not worried about what they want. I have got to get what I need. And I believe, 12:00 I have got a witness who is watching right now. 12:03 Because I know I have got some witnesses in this sanctuary, who know that God will make a way. 12:08 That when your back is against the wall and it seems that all is over, God will make a way. 12:16 Yes, he will. He will deliver. He will set you free. He will dry the tears from your eyes. 12:23 He will heal your body. God will make a way. 12:27 It is in this woman's desperate condition that she mixes what she believes with what she has heard. 12:34 And she says, if I can just touch the hem of His garments. She says I do not have to talk to him. 12:41 I do not have to run up and get in his face. But if I can just touch the helm of His garment. 12:48 Oh, I wish I had a church in this place that I know I can be made whole. 12:52 If I can just talk to some prayer warriors, then I know. 12:57 If I can just talk to some people who have been through what I am going through, 13:02 then I know he will make a way. And I have learned in my life, 13:06 you cannot say I know until you can say, I have been. I have been sick. I have been broke. 13:14 I have been depressed. I have been lost. But, since I met Jesus, 13:21 what a wonderful change in my life has been wrought since Jesus came into my heart. 13:27 Since I met Jesus. Now, I know I heard he turned water into wine. 13:33 I heard he fed five thousand with two fish and five loaves of bread. 13:38 I heard he spat on the ground, made mud, put it on a man's eyes, and he could see. 13:43 But, when you look at your own situation, now I know He is a healer. Now I know He is a provider. 13:50 Now I know He is a way-maker. Is there anybody who knows what I am talking about? 13:55 I know that if I touch his garments, I will be made whole. 14:01 Jesus was passing by on his way to Jairus, who asked first. 14:05 But, although this woman was out of turn, Jesus was not out of time. 14:10 She touched his clothes and he stopped. And when he stopped, the blood stopped. 14:20 Jesus oh...Hallelujah. He turns around and he says, somebody touched me. 14:28 You all do not hear what I am saying. Peter said, Lord, what are you talking about? 14:32 Come on, Lord, all these people around here, touching you, somebody is bound to touch you. 14:37 Jesus said, no, no, no, no somebody, somebody touched me because power has gone out from me. 14:44 You see, friends of mine, let me throw this in right here. There's a between bumping Jesus 14:48 and touching Jesus. Too many people are bumping Jesus, not touching Jesus. They are bumping prayer, 14:55 not touching prayer. Bumping Bible study, not touching Bible study. Bumping church, 15:01 not touching church. Bumping Jesus, not touching Jesus. But, I do not want to just bump Jesus, 15:08 I want to touch Jesus. I am going to hold on to Jesus and not let go. 15:13 Do I have a witness in this place? 15:14 The Bible says that the woman touches Jesus. Her faith in Jesus made her whole. 15:23 But again, Jairus asked Jesus first. And what do you do when it is your day? Your turn? 15:37 But, somebody has to get theirs first. Somebody has to get their healing first. 15:44 Somebody has to get their blessing first. 15:47 I've come to tell you that what you maybe need to understand, 15:51 that even when it looks like somebody else has to get their miracle first, 15:53 it doesn't change the fact that your miracle is on the way. Maybe God is saying, 15:59 I am just trying to see how they are going to act when I bless other people before I bless them. 16:05 I am trying to see if they are going to have an attitude when I bless somebody else 16:10 and they get the miracle. When somebody else gets the promotion, 16:13 when somebody else passes the test when somebody else gets the job first when somebody else graduates 16:20 first. When somebody else gets married first. When somebody else gets the house or the car first. 16:25 When somebody else gets out of debt first. When somebody else gets their healing first. 16:31 The woman got her healing first. But, what about Jairus? 16:35 So the story says, one of Jairus's messengers comes up to him and says Jairus, do not worry about it. 16:43 Do not trouble the master. Your daughter is dead. So, here is Jairus now. 16:52 If it were not for this woman, we would have made it on time. 16:58 If it were not for this interruption, we would have gotten into the house on time. 17:05 If it were not for this distraction, we would have gotten to the girl on time. Luke 8:50, 17:12 read it again when you go home, says that Jesus heard them. 17:16 I like how Ellen White puts it in Desire of Ages. Ellen White, 17:19 Sister White says that Jairus caught the ear of Jesus. Jesus responds, fear not. 17:26 Only believe and she shall be made whole. 17:30 All right, so I'm almost done. Jairus...Jesus, rather, gets to Jairus's house. 17:38 Jesus says I need Peter, James, and John. I do not need all twelve of you all. 17:48 But, I just need Peter, James and John. Jesus says to all the disciples, I appreciate you. 17:58 I thank you but I just need Peter, James and John because we are getting ready to confront the enemy. 18:09 And I do not need no scared soldiers. I just need Peter, James, and John. 18:17 And lesson number four is applicable for me today. The closer you get to your miracle, 18:23 your crowd is going to get smaller because everybody is not... 18:27 everybody is not going to understand the level of spiritual warfare that you are about to enter into. 18:34 I wish I had a witness in his place. That is why you got to know who your Peter, James, and John are. 18:42 It does not mean that there is anything wrong with Matthew, Andrew, and Thomas, 18:48 but you've got to know who your Peter, James, and John because everybody cannot handle everything. 18:55 They get to the house. The people in the house are crying. Jesus walks in with Peter, James, 19:03 and John. Jeter...Jesus says, your daughter is not dead. She is just asleep. 19:13 The Bible says in Verse 53, for the people in the house started laughing. 19:19 They started laughing like Jesus was crazy; that he was joking. 19:24 That he was making something up. But then, I like what Verse 54 says. 19:30 It says that Jesus put them out of the house. That is lesson number five for somebody today. 19:37 When you are praying for a miracle. When you are looking for a miracle expecting the impossible, 19:45 believing the invisible, feeling the intangible. If you got some people in the midst who are laughing, 19:53 doubting, making fun, and not believing in the name of Jesus put them out. 20:04 God told me to tell somebody that there are some people who are laughing at what God is getting ready 20:10 to do in your life. People laughing at me. Byrd, why are you leaving? 20:14 What are you doing laughing at me? But, let them laugh all they want. 20:18 Let them talk all they want. I am here to tell somebody that God is about to make a way. 20:26 They think you are crazy for believing something is about to happen. 20:31 But, God is about to make a way. And God told me to tell you to tell them to get their stuff 20:39 and get out because you do not need folk in your life doubting your miracle. 20:44 You need somebody who is going to stand in agreement with you. You need a child of God, 20:50 who knows how to fall on their knees and pray. You need an arm swinging, Holy Ghost intoxicated, 20:59 power praying, child of God, Jesus loving person who can stand in agreement with you; 21:07 believing that God can work a miracle in your life. Late in the midnight hour, 21:13 God is going to turn it around. He is going to work it out in your favor. 21:17 If you cannot help me, do not hinder me. Get from around me and get out. Jesus puts them out. 21:28 That is what we are here for, somebody. 21:30 Somebody's miracle will never come until you are willing to put the naysayers out. 21:35 Out of your mind. Out of your space. Out of your body. Out of your spirit. Put them out. 21:44 Verse 54 says, and He took the damsel by the hand and said unto her, Maid, arise. 21:54 Okay, do you see what is going on? Jesus is talking to a dead girl. Jesus is talking to what is dead. 22:11 But He is speaking those things that aren't, as though they are. You all don't hear what I'm saying. 22:20 Lesson number six. There comes a time in your life that you have to speak over those things that folks 22:30 say are dead in your life. You have to speak the stuff that folks said would never get up. 22:38 You have got to speak to every dead situation in your life 22:42 and you have got to declare in the name of Jesus, get up and that God will make a way. 22:51 I know that people may be getting ready to have their funeral. 22:55 I know people may be saying it is over, it can't happen. But, Jesus is the resurrection and the life. 23:04 The power of life and death is in your tongue. Too many of us speak death over our lives. 23:12 Too many of us speak death of our situations. 23:15 But, there comes a time when you got to speak life over your situation. Life over your family. 23:20 Life over your marriage. Life over your children. Life over your grandchildren. Life over your job. 23:26 Life over your education. Life over your friends. Life over your finances. Life over your sickness. 23:33 Do you hear what I am saying? You've got to learn how to speak life. Come on, you all. 23:39 If the Devil was going to kill you, he should have done it a long time ago. Come on, 23:44 but he couldn't do it. Why? God wouldn't let him do it because God spoke life. 23:51 Open up your mouth and speak life over that situation. Don't you receive that report from the enemy? 23:58 Don't you sit back and believe it's over because I've come to tell you, 24:02 it ain't over until God says it's over. You got to learn. Oh, I hear my help coming. 24:09 You got to learn how to have a yet praise. Pastor Byrd, what is a yet praise? 24:15 Oh, it just has not happened yet. That healing for your body, it has not happened yet. 24:22 The job you have applied for, it has not happened yet. Money for your bills, it has not happened yet. 24:30 The Bible says that Jairus's daughter got up and when the girl got up, they were all astonished. 24:37 They were all amazed because He made a way. 24:41 I am not done with you all. But God told me to tell you, 24:45 something happens when you get a touch from Jesus. There is power when you make contact with Jesus. 24:51 I am not talking about just bumping Jesus. I am talking about touching Jesus. 24:55 There is power when you touch Jesus. 24:57 The woman with the issue of blood said if I could just touch the hem of His garments. 25:01 When Jesus gets to the little girl's house, Jesus takes her by the hand. He touches her. 25:08 He lifts her up. All you need is one touch. Somebody knows that Divinity can touch dust. 25:15 Mercy can touch a mess. Hope can touch hopelessness. Love can touch loneliness. 25:26 Peace can touch your problems. Joy can touch your junk, and I don't know about you, 25:34 but I'm like the old folk now. I'm so glad He touched me and oh the joy that floods my soul. 25:45 Something happened. And now I know He touched me and made me whole. He made away. 26:00 I said He made a way. You heard what Jesus can do. Now you know what Jesus can do. 26:09 I feel a miracle getting ready to happen in somebody's life. 26:12 There is no need of waiting until it gets here. 26:14 Go on and praise him right now. Don't wait until the battle is over. You can go on and shout now. 26:18 Go on and give him glory right now. You better tell somebody. The next time you see me, 26:22 my head won't be down. The next time you see me, I won't be running to the doctor 26:27 because He made a way. And I know God can make a way because I know what God has done for me, 26:33 Carlton Byrd, personally. I know what God has done for me professionally. God has made a way. 26:39 He made a way for his church. Baptized hundred of church members, He made a way. 26:44 People's lives change, He made a way. Evangelistic campaigns, He made a way. New school building, 26:51 He made a way. Family Life Center, He made a way. Renovated church, He made a way. 26:57 Expanded Media Ministry, He made a way. Health Services Center, He made a way. Barbershop, 27:04 He made a way. How about Food Market, He made a way. 27:08 When I look back at my professional time and tenure at Oakwood, all I can say is, it wasn't Byrd, 27:21 but He made a way. I don't know how He did it, but He made a way. I don't know why. 27:37 But I'm grateful that He made a way. Don't mean to be selfish, but He made a way. 27:47 Don't mean to be stuck up, but He made a way. And today, I don't know what you're going through, 27:55 but take it from someone who knows.
