00:07 Sermon #B690 - The Third Angel's Message 00:20 Dr. Byrd: We want to get right in the word of God as we culminate our three-part series on the 00:25 three angels messages of Revelation 14. So, I am going to invite you to take your Bibles 00:31 and turn with me to the Book of Revelation. Let us go Chapter 14 00:35 and we are going to read verses 9, 10, 11, and 12. Revelation Chapter 14:9-12. 00:49 The word of God is clear to us and it says, "And the third angel followed them saying with a loud voice, 00:57 if any man worship the beast and his image and received his mark in his forehead or in his hand, 01:03 the same should drink in the wine of the wrath of God, 01:06 which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation and he shall be tormented with fire 01:11 and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the lamb. 01:17 And the smoke of their torment ascended up forever and ever 01:19 and they have no rest day nor night who worship the beast and his image, 01:26 and whosoever received the mark of his name." But here is a good news, 01:32 here is the patience of the Saints. Here are they that keep the commandments of God 01:40 and have the faith of Jesus Christ. Let us pray. 01:47 Father in heaven, right now come now and speak, speak in this sanctuary 01:53 and Lord speak over the television and the internet airwaves and may your Holy Spirit, Oh God, convict 02:01 and convert your people. Now God, this is not an easy message, not a palatable message, 02:06 not a feel-good message, but it is your message that you have for your people today. 02:11 Speak through these lips of clay, forgive me of my sins, Lord. Hide me behind your cross. 02:16 May your people see Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ crucified and when the appeal time comes Lord, 02:23 I am asking again that you in copious fashion that you would move among your people that they might 02:32 make decisions for thee and pray this prayer. 02:35 We ask these things in the name that is above all other names, 02:41 in the name of the one who has made all of this possible today, in the name of Jesus we pray, amen. 02:53 The third Angel's message begins with the word "If". It begins with this word "If", 03:07 If any man worship the beast and his image and received his mark in his forehead or in his hand. 03:18 If then the same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of fornication, of God, 03:22 which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation and he shall be tormented with fire 03:29 and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the lamb, 03:35 and the smoke of their torment ascended up forever and ever 03:40 and they have no rest day nor night who worship the beast and his image 03:43 and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. This message begins with the word "if" 03:54 and the word "if" here is significant 03:57 because "if" is a conjunction that suggest something is based on the condition of something else. 04:07 In other words, if you do something then something else is going to happen. 04:13 If you do something good then something good will happen, 04:17 if you do something bad then something bad will happen. 04:22 This conditional promise underscores the principle of seed time and harvest. 04:29 In other words, you reap what you sow and your harvest will testify to what your sowing has been. 04:38 The Bible makes it clear, if my people who are called by my name. 04:44 that word "if", if my people who are called by my name would humble themselves 04:48 and pray, turn from their wicked ways, then he says I would hear from heaven and heal their land. 04:57 If you have faith, that word "if" the size of a mustard seed then God will move mountains. 05:05 If the son sets you free, then you shall be free indeed. if I be lifted up, I will draw all men unto me. 05:18 If you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that the Lord Jesus God raised you from the dead 05:26 you will be saved. Notice these "if" statements are promises from God, but they are all conditional. 05:37 If you do something good something good will happen, If you do something bad something bad will happen. 05:44 The third angel gives us a warning message and this warning message begins with the word "if", 05:53 suggesting a condition. But this warning is clear that if you do something bad then something bad is 06:01 going to happen to you. If you worship specifically the beast and his image, 06:07 then you will receive his mark in your forehead or his mark in your hand. 06:14 You will then drink the wine of the wrath of God and you are going to be tormented with fire and brimstone. 06:23 Now, notice the first angel's message and the third angel's message both center around the issue of worship. 06:32 The first angel challenges us and urges us to worship God. 06:38 The third angel's message tells us not to worship the beast. The demand then to worship the beast 06:46 and receive his mark in Revelation 13 counteracts the command to worship the one who made the heavens, 06:54 the earth, and the sea, and fountains of waters in Revelation 14:7. So then, the worship of the beast 07:02 and reception of his mark stands in opposition to the worship of God and the keeping of his commandments. 07:10 Now, I need to let you know today, 07:12 today I am coming strong. There is no play preaching today. I do not have time for just sound bites 07:20 and nice clichés and quotes. I am coming straight down the middle today. 07:25 Are you hearing what I am saying everybody? 07:27 Who is the beast? Let us go to Revelation 13 and let us look at verse number 18. 07:33 In Revelation 13:18, the Bible is clear, it says and tells us who the beast is. Here is wisdom. 07:42 Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; 07:47 and his number is six hundred threescore and six. 07:54 The Bible is telling us that the number of the beast is six hundred threescore and six. 08:01 We know when we study Bible prophecy that a score represents the number twenty, 08:06 so when we say threescore we are then saying three times twenty, which is sixty, six hundred sixty six. 08:16 The number of the beast is the number of a man and it is six hundred and six six six. 08:25 Now, remember last week, when we studied angel number two. I told you that the mother church of our world, 08:33 the mother church universal is the Roman Catholic Church. Let me say that again, 08:39 I told you last week that the mother church, the universal mother church is the Roman Catholic Church. 08:47 It also sees itself as the mother church and I share with you that the Roman Catholic Church bases this on 08:55 Matthew 16:18, where Jesus himself speaking is saying all upon this rock, I will build my church. 09:07 From this text, Roman Catholics believe that Jesus was saying he is building his church on Peter Petrus 09:16 which meant rock. But they got it wrong 09:18 because Jesus was not saying that he was going to build his church on Peter 09:22 but Jesus was in essence saying I am going to build my church on the rock, Christ Jesus. 09:28 I am building the church upon myself, on Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand. 09:35 But from this text Roman Catholics believe that Peter was the first pope and if you study their history, 09:43 they see themselves as an extension of the New Testament Church, 09:47 and that Peter true enough was the first pope. So with that 09:53 I am not here to dog out Catholics. I get no glory in dogging someone else out. 09:59 I learned a long time ago, you do not maximize yourself by minimizing somebody else. 10:05 This sermon is not an attack against the Pope. It is not an attack on the Roman Catholic Church 10:13 or Christians. I want you to know that many loving individuals are Roman Catholic Christian people. 10:20 Today, I am dealing with a religious system. A religious system that the Bible says will soon oppose God. 10:30 I am today just giving you straight gospel truth today and you shall know the truth 10:36 and the truth shall set you free. I recognize that not everybody wants to preach this 10:42 because this is not a popular subject. When you are dealing with attacking religious systems, 10:48 but I have got to do what the Lord has told me to do and in the last and evil days in which we live, 10:54 The Bible says that God said his people perish not for bread and water 10:59 but they perish for a lack of knowledge. So we must teach and preach what does said by the Lord. 11:06 This sermon is attack on Satan, for the liar that he is. The beast is a symbol of the papacy. 11:12 The mark of the beast will be some act that the papacy is recognized for. 11:17 So Pastor Byrd, what is this act? Put a little bookmark in Revelation 13 and 14 11:23 and take your Bibles and go with me to the Book of Daniel Chapter 7, 11:27 and we want to go to Daniel Chapter 7 and we want to go to verse number 25. 11:32 Daniel Chapter 7:25, remember Revelation is the New Testament prophetic book. 11:37 Daniel is the Old Testament prophetic book. Daniel Chapter 7, and we are going to verse number 25. 11:43 Now, let us review because I believe repetition deepens the impression. Remember friends of mine, 11:49 the Roman Catholic Church sees itself as the mother Church, 11:53 the head of the Roman Catholic Church is the Pope, 11:57 the Bible says that the number of the beast will be the number of a man, 12:01 when we apply the title for the Pope Vicar of the Son of God, Vicarius Filii Dei, 12:07 and take those Roman letters and apply Roman numerals, we come up with 666. 12:12 Now, let us see what the act is of the papacy. Daniel 7:25, the word of God says, 12:20 and he shall speak great words against the most high and shall wear out the saints of the most high, 12:27 and think to change times and laws; and they shall be given into his hand until the time, and times, 12:35 and the dividing of time. Let me read that again, and he shall speak great words against the most high 12:42 and shall wear out the saints of the most high, and think to change times and laws; 12:44 and they shall be given into his hand until the time, and times, and the dividing of time. 12:51 Now, let us break this text down for a minute. 12:53 The beast of Revelation 13 that we just read about in Revelation 13:18 is synonymous with the horn of 13:01 Daniel 7. Daniel was shown in vision that a power known as a little horn would pluck up three other powers. 13:15 Daniel is shown in vision that this little horn, again, is going to pluck up three powers. 13:22 These three powers were three opposing tribes of Roman Catholicism. They were the Ostrogoths, the Vandals, 13:32 and the Heruli. If you study history, you will recognize that back in the day these three opposing 13:39 tribes Ostrogoths, Heruli, and Vandals opposed Roman Catholicism because they believed in Arianism. 13:48 The Bible says that there would be a little horn that would pluck up 13:52 or destroy these three opposing tribes. 13:55 These three opposing tribes according to Daniel 7:8 were in actuality plucked up 14:02 and destroyed by the papacy, that gave the papacy the autonomy to exert its authority 14:09 and rule for a time, times, and dividing of time. Now somebody is saying, "well, Pastor Byrd, 14:15 what is a time, times, and dividing of time?," I am so glad you asked. One time represents one year. 14:22 There are twelve months in a year, there are thirty days in a Roman calendar month. 14:28 When you talk about one-year you then talk about twelve months multiplied by thirty days in a Roman 14:34 calendar month. Twelve times thirty is three hundred sixty. One time is one year. 14:40 One time is three hundred sixty days. Then you say a times, that means two years. 14:47 So if one year is three hundred sixty then two years must be seven hundred twenty days. 14:52 Then if you say a dividing or half of a time, you are saying a half of a year, 14:57 one hundred eighty is half of three hundred sixty. So then a time is three hundred sixty days, 15:03 a times is seven hundred twenty days, a dividing of time is one hundred eighty days. 15:08 When you add up 360, 720, and 180, you get twelve hundred and sixty days. Remember in the Bible prophecy, 15:18 we apply a day for a year, so then we are getting twelve hundred and sixty years. 15:24 The Bible says that a horn, a beast, a power that would oppose three tribes Ostrogoths, Heruli, 15:33 and Vandals, would pluck them up, but the same power would seek to change times, and laws, 15:39 and power would be given to this beast for twelve hundred and sixty years. 15:46 Now, if you study history, you will discover that the last of the three opposing tribes 15:51 that were plucked up, the Heruli, they were destroyed in 538 A.D., when you count twelve hundred 15:58 and sixty years later in 1798, something happened in history. In 1798 in history, 16:06 General Berthier of Napoleon, the French generals army, Berthier took the Pope captive. 16:14 That means then the Bible is true, that in a time, times, and dividing of time, 16:19 in exactly twelve hundred and sixty years beginning when the last of those three tribes was plucked up 16:25 until the time the papacy was taken captive, the papacy ruled this world twelve hundred 16:31 and sixty years beginning in 538 A.D. and ending in 1798 A.D. Hence, 16:39 there would be no opposition to the changing of laws, and times as prophesized in Daniel Chapter 7. 16:47 In an attempt to change of God's law, worship is the central issue. Remember, 16:53 the first Angel tells us to worship God and the third Angel tells us not to worship the beast 17:01 and the central issue of worship in this context, listen to me good, is the day of worship. 17:08 God has set his day at creation, reinforced his day in the commandments, 17:16 practiced his day through Jesus and observed by the disciples after Jesus' death. 17:23 The beast however has sought to change God's law. 17:28 The changing of the sacredness from God's seventh day Sabbath to the first day of the week was executed 17:36 by the beast. It was executed by the papacy. Now, the church understand could not do this on its own 17:43 because the church cannot make you do anything. I can preach until I am blue in the face, 17:48 but I cannot make you do anything, the church cannot make you do anything, 17:53 so there must be a blending between church, and state or the government. 17:57 Because the government can legislate and make you do certain things. 18:04 God sacredness of God's Sabbath slowly began to be changed. 18:10 The Catholic Church, the mother Church, acknowledge this change and this act itself. 18:17 Where is my proof? I am going to share it with you. It was a Catholic priest by the name of Rev. 18:22 Peter Geiermann. He was asked in converts catechism. He was asked a question, which is the Sabbath day, 18:32 his answer Saturday is the Sabbath day. The question was then why do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday? 18:38 This is his answer in their book. We observe Sunday instead of Saturday 18:43 because of the Catholic church in the Council of Laodicea in 321 A.D. and later in 336 A.D., 18:49 transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday. Go look it up for yourself, 18:53 Peter Geiermann's Convert Catechism. Let us get another source the Catholic record, 18:59 on September 1, 1923, go google it look it up. It said Sunday is our mark. 19:10 This is Catholic speaking of authority. The church is above the Bible 19:14 and this transference of Sabbath observance is proof of that fact. But let us get some more evidence. 19:20 These were early on in the 1900. Let us get some work cited closer to the time in which we live. 19:27 St. Catherine Catholic Church Sentinel, on May 21, 1995, St. Catherine Catholic Church Sentinel, 19:35 perhaps the boldest thing, the most revolutionary change the church ever did happened in the first century, 19:42 the holy day, the Sabbath was changed. 19:46 She says from Saturday to Sunday not from any directions noted in the scriptures, 19:52 but from the churches sense of its own power. People who think that the scripture should be the sole 19:58 authority should logically they became Seventh-Day Adventist and keeps Sabbath holy. 20:04 But let us go to our last quote, Faith of Our Fathers, Cardinal James Gibbons, pages 111 and 112. 20:12 He says you may read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation 20:16 and you will not find a single line authorizing the sanctification of Sunday. 20:24 But third Angel says, if any man worship the beast and his image and receive his mark on his forehead 20:31 or in his hand, the same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God and should be tormented with fire 20:36 and brimstone. Let us talk for a minute about this mark in one's forehead or one's hand 20:43 because someone wants to know are we going to be walking around people with marks in their head or in their 20:47 hands? Remember now, we are talking about Bible prophecy and in Prophecy, we are dealing with symbols. 20:51 So let me set the record straight, no one will have a literal mark, 20:55 no one will have a literal mark on their forehead or in their hand, 20:58 or no one will have as we hear these conspiracy theories today a computer chip inserted in them. 21:05 But rather the hand is a symbol of work. The forehead is the symbol of a mind with which we serve God. 21:13 Those who work on God's Sabbath are marked in the hand, 21:17 those who accept Sunday observance are marked in their forehead. 21:21 But let us go back to Revelation 13 and let us go back to Revelation 13 and let us go to verses 16 21:26 and 17 for a minute. Revelation 13:16-17, the word of God says, "and he causes all both small and great, 21:38 rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand or in their foreheads. 21:42 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark or the name of the beast 21:47 or the number of his name." What is this text telling us? The day is coming, 21:55 the day is coming where individuals will not be able to buy or sell unless they have the mark of the beast. 22:01 The ability then for the government to identify individuals through the use of cards 22:05 and numbers gives them immediate access to your personal records, bank accounts, 22:09 and also your location, which means they can stop any desire you might have for freedom or purchase. 22:17 When the religious issues, friends, become clear people are forced to either receive the mark of the beast 22:22 as opposed to God seventh day Sabbath. Then those who choose God seventh day Sabbath will not be able to 22:27 buy or sell and those who choose the mark of the beast will be worshiping the beast. 22:37 Verse 10 says, "So drink of the wine of the wrath of God, 22:42 which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation 22:44 and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, 22:47 and in the presence of the lamb; And the smoke of their torment ascended up forever 22:51 and ever and they have no rest day nor night who worship the beast and his image 22:54 and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. Friends of mine, all of those who drink from Babylon 23:00 seductive wine of fornication, which are Satan's false teachings will become the objects of divine wrath, 23:09 God wants everybody to pass 23:12 God wants to save everybody, but everybody does not want to be saved 23:18 and unless God in his final wrath finally purges the world of all evil and rebellion, 23:26 then God's kingdom cannot come. The third Angel's warns, 23:32 worshippers of the beasts that in addition to drinking the wine from the wrath of God they will also be 23:37 tormented with fire and brimstone. The text says, and the smoke of their torment ascended up forever and ever 23:49 The Bible is very clear that forever means as long as one shall live which means the burning fire 23:56 continues long enough to complete its purpose and leaves nothing to be burned. 24:02 The third angel then announces that those who worship the beast 24:05 and received the mark of his name have no rest day or night. 24:07 This is in direct contrast to the statement which follows the Three Angels Messages of Revelation 14:6-12 24:14 because Revelation 14:13 says that the followers of Christ are promised rest from their labors. 24:21 The worshipers of the beast however will never experience that heavenly rest. 24:27 The rest that God's people enter is eternal and the impending judgment for the unbelievers is also eternal. 24:36 because of his desire to be saved when Jesus comes. I will not be able to go into Walmart, 24:39 I will not be able to go into public's, I would not be able to go into Walgreens. 24:46 I will not be able go to sell, and I will try to pay for my food. I will try to pay for my grocery. 24:56 I am gonna try to pay for my gas with a card. But because I would not have the mark of the beast, 25:01 because I have not followed the crowd, because I have not followed what is popular, 25:08 but because I have decided to follow Jesus. I will not be able to buy or sell 25:18 but all the good news that God gives me says, Byrd, do not worry about that 25:23 because he closes out the three Angels messages by saying here is the patience of the saints. 25:28 Here are they that keep the commandments of God and have the faith of Jesus Christ. 25:34 And so when they haul me off to jail, when I am persecuted, I will be all right 25:41 because serving the Lord will pay off after a while. I will be all right 25:47 because I will be able to quote Revelation 15:2-3, and I saw as it were, 25:52 a glass mingled with fire and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, 25:58 and over his image, and over his mark, 25:59 and over the number of his name stand on the sea of glass having the harps of God 26:04 and they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the lamb saying great 26:10 and marvelous are thy works. Lord God Almighty, just and true are thy ways thou king of saints. 26:18 And then I will Echo the words of the great American patriot, Patrick Henry, 26:24 in the cause of American Freedom. Give me liberty or give me death. 26:31 Give me religious freedom or give me death. Give me the Bible or give me death. 26:39 Give me the commandments or give me death. Give me the Sabbath or give me death. 26:46 Give me the truth or give me death. Give me the spirit of prophecy or give me death. 26:53 Give me what is rights or give me death. Give me Jesus or give me death. 27:01 Give me the cross or give me death because he was wounded for my transgressions, 27:07 bruised for my iniquities. The chastisement of our peace was upon him but by his stripes. 27:14 I am healed today. So today, I cannot worry about what everybody else is doing. 27:20 I cannot worry about what everybody else is saying. Give me Jesus or give me death. 27:27 In the name of Jesus, fear God, glorify God, worship God. Babylon is falling, 27:35 get out and do not receive the mark of the beast. So today, who are you going to give your worship too? 27:42 God or Satan? You better hear this preacher today. Jesus is coming.
