00:06 Sermon #B689 - The Second Angel's Message 00:21 Dr. Byrd: We are now ready to receive the Word of God and may I ask you, if you would, take your Bibles. 00:28 Open them to the Book of Revelation, we are going to Revelation chapter 14 in verse number eight, 00:37 just one text as we prepare to begin part two of our three-part series on Revelation 14. 00:49 Second angel says in Revelation chapter 14 verse eight, "And there follow another angel saying, 01:01 Babylon has fallen, has fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine, 01:13 of the wrath of her fornication." We are praying, oh Lord God have Your way today. Speak to Your people. 01:27 Those watching by television, those watching by the internet, 01:31 even those of us who serve right now in this sanctuary. Speak Lord, Your servants hear it. 01:41 Now, Father, I pray that You would make your word plain. 01:46 And may Your people receive what You have to say today, through the message of Your second angel. 01:53 Forgive me of my sins hiding behind the cross of Christ. And may Your name be glorified. 01:59 May Your people be edified, and may the devil be horrified today. 02:05 Pray this prayer asking that at the appeal time, Lord, You do what You do. In Jesus' name, amen. 02:18 The second angel of Revelation 14. You will remember from last week in part one, 02:29 that the first angel of Revelation 14 is calling people back to worship the true God. 02:37 The first angel says, fear God, glorify God, and worship God. 02:45 The first angel is then followed by the second angel. 02:50 And the fact that this second angel is referred to as the second one 02:57 and that he follows the first angel shows that their two messages are related. 03:04 The message of the second angel of Revelation 14 is the complement to the first angel, 03:12 in that God is calling us back to true worship, to Him, with the first angel's message. 03:20 And then the second angel's message tells us that in addition to worshiping God, we must reject all systems, 03:30 all schemes, religious or secular, that are in opposition to God. In other words, worship God, 03:42 and then renounce anything that is in opposition to God. Simply put, it is God or Satan. 03:52 Jesus said, "No man can serve two masters." Elijah said, "How long halt he between two opinions? 04:00 If the Lord be God, then follow Him if Baal, then follow him." 04:05 Joshua said, "Choose you this day whom you are going to serve. But as for me, and my house, 04:11 we are going to serve the Lord." The first angel's message, it is worship God. 04:17 The second angel's message is reject anything other than God. 04:24 So, the second angel begins its message by saying, "Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city." 04:34 Here in the text, Babylon is identified as a city. Now, we have a bunch of great cities in our world today. 04:40 but in this text, 04:42 we are not talking about literal Babylon. We are talking about figurative Babylon. 04:49 Babylon in this context is the in-time worldwide religious coalition that stands against God 04:57 and God's people. Babylon represents all the plans and programs that attempt to frustrate God's 05:05 plan for the world. Babylon is a religious system that stands in opposition to the gospel that is 05:13 backed by the political powers of the world. The nations of the world associate themselves 05:21 with Babylon for the purpose of perceived economic security and prosperity. 05:28 But soon, Babylon will experience God's wrath. Soon, Babylon's power will come to an end. 05:39 Because at the end of the day, I serve a God who's got the last word. Remember, the first angel says, 05:50 "The gospel is everlasting." But the second angel says, "Babylon is fallen." Which means, 05:59 Babylon is temporary, Babylon is not permanent. Just like the prophet Jeremiah, 06:07 proclaim in Jeremiah chapter 51 verse number eight, that Old Testament Babylon, the actual city, 06:16 Jeremiah said, "Had fallen and broken up." The second angel of Revelation 14, 06:22 announces the end-time collapse of figurative Babylon. 06:29 Now, the text says, "Babylon is fallen, is fallen." Let us understand what Babylon means. 06:39 Babylon means spiritual confusion. How do we know Babylon means spiritual confusion. 06:46 Babylon comes from the root word Babel or Babel, however you want to pronounce it. 06:53 We recognize in Genesis chapter 11, the children of Israel, because of their desire to reach heaven, 07:01 because of their desire to never again be destroyed by a flood, and they wanted to reach heaven, 07:07 the Bible says in Genesis 11, that they began to build a tower trying to reach heaven. 07:14 But their desire was not God's desire, their will was not God's will and their desire 07:21 and their will was in conflict with God's will. And we discover that God had to stop them. 07:29 Well, how did God stop them? Well, He could not stop them by a flood, because remember, 07:33 He said, there would never be water again that would destroy the Earth. 07:37 How would then God stop the children of Israel from building this tower? 07:43 Bible says that God confounded them by language. What do you mean? 07:48 By language, there were some people that began to speak English. 07:51 There were some people that began to speak Spanish. There were some people that began to speak French. 07:57 There were some people that began to speak Chinese and Aramaic and Greek 08:01 and all different types of languages. There were some people that began to speak Hebrew, 08:06 and all of a sudden, their building plans came to a halt, because God confounded them by language, 08:12 they all began to speak a different language, they began to speak different languages at the same time, 08:18 and there was confusion. They could not continue the tower, confusion reigned. 08:25 And so, just like the Tower of Babel, just like Babylon was confusion in the Old Testament. 08:34 End time, Babylon will promote spiritual confusion. End time, Babylon will promote lies. 08:42 In time, Babylon will promote falsehoods. In time, Babylon will promote deception. 08:48 In time, Babylon will try to make you think that God's true people are wrong, 08:53 when in actuality Babylon is wrong. The text says, "Babylon is fallen, is fallen, 08:58 that great city because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication." 09:04 Babylon made all nations of the world participate in her foolishness. What am I talking about? 09:12 Take your Bibles and go with me to the book of Revelation. And let us go to Revelation chapter 17. 09:18 Revelation chapter 17. Remembering that the second angel says, "Babylon is fallen." 09:24 Go to Revelation chapter 17 and we are going to verse number one, Revelation 17, verse number one, 09:29 the Word of God says, "And there came one of the seven angels, which had the seven vials 09:35 and talk with me saying unto me, "Come heither, 09:38 I will show unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters." 09:45 Let's stop here. In Bible prophecy, a woman represents a church. A woman represents a church. 09:57 In Revelation chapter 17 verse number one, the Bible says that a great whore sits on many waters. 10:05 So, therefore, if a great whore sits on many waters, and a woman represents a church and Bible prophecy, 10:13 a whore is not a good woman, which means then if a woman represents a church, 10:19 and a whore is not a good woman, then this must be a bad church. This bad church sits on many waters. 10:27 Well, Doc Byrd, what is many waters? What does that mean in scripture? Go down to Revelation chapter 17 10:34 and verse 15. Let me teach you right now. And then we shout you and preach you at the end. 10:39 Let us learn what the Word of God has to say. Revelation chapter 17 verse number 15, the Word of God says, 10:45 "And he said out to me, the waters which thou saw us, where the whore is sitteth our peoples, 10:51 and multitudes, and nations, and tongues." Go back now to Revelation 17 verse number one, 10:58 the Bible says that this great whore sits on many waters, the waters are people, this whore, 11:05 this bad woman, this bad church sits on many people. Let us continue to read the Word of God. 11:12 Go to verse number two, Revelation 17-2 says, with whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, 11:19 and the inhabitants of the earth had been made drunk with the wine of her fornication. 11:23 Now we know that fornication means immorality, we know that. But we also understand in Bible prophecy, 11:32 wine means teachings. So, we discover this woman is associated with the kings of the earth. 11:40 They have committed fornication, immorality, and the inhabitants of the earth, 11:44 having made drunk with the teachings of her immorality. Go back to verse three, 11:50 "So he carried me away in the spirit in the wilderness, and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet colored beast, 11:57 full of names and blasphemy, having seven heads and 10 horns." 12:01 Verse four, "And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet color, 12:04 and deck with golden precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations 12:09 and filthiness, in her fornication." Verse five, "And upon her forehead was a name written 'mystery', 12:15 Babylon the Great, the Mother of Harlots and abominations of the earth." 12:21 Now, let us stop there. Verse five says, this woman, that there is seen were on inscribed on her forehead, 12:33 mystery, Babylon the great, the Mother of Harlots and abominations of the earth. 12:39 Now, we have already established that a harlot is a woman, but a harlot is a bad woman. 12:44 So, the text says, "Mother of harlots", which means mother of bad churches. 12:50 When we talk about a mother, a mother is a woman too. So, that means a church, 12:55 the mother church is the mother of all bad churches. Are you hearing what I am saying? Mystery, Babylon, 13:04 the great confusion, the mother, mother church of all harlots, bad churches, and abominations of the earth. 13:14 Well, "Pastor Byrd who is the mother church?" Well, the answer is very clear. 13:17 The mother church is the Roman Catholic Church. "What are you talking about? What do you mean, 13:21 the Roman Catholic Church is the mother church?" Well, let us understand a little history right now. 13:26 The Roman Catholic Church sees itself as the extension of the New Testament Church. 13:33 So, in other words, we have the Old Testament, we have the New Testament Church, 13:36 and then we have the Roman Catholic Church 13:39 because they think they are the extension of the New Testament Church. 13:43 How do they think they are the extension of the New Testament church? 13:47 Well, they get this belief from the Scripture, Matthew 16:18, where Jesus says, "Thou art Peter, 13:54 and upon this rock, shall I build my Church." Understand, with this text, they made Peter the first pope. 14:03 If you study Roman Catholic history, you will discover that Peter is listed 14:06 and identified as the first pope based on this text "Thou art Peter", Jesus is speaking, "Upon this rock, 14:14 I will build my church." And so, because of that, 14:16 the Roman Catholic Church sees itself as the extension of the New Testament Church making 14:22 it the mother church because Peter was its first pope. But Roman Catholics got it wrong. 14:28 Jesus wasn't saying, "On Peter, Petrus, we will build this church." 14:32 But what Jesus was saying is, "Peter, you are Peter, put upon this rock shall I build my Church." 14:38 But Jesus was speaking up himself, because Jesus Christ is the solid rock. On Christ, 14:45 the solid rock I stand on other ground is sinking sand. 14:50 So, in the year 1517, there comes this man who says, "Wait a minute, what the mother church is teaching, 14:58 what it is sharing, what it is making people do is not in harmony with the Word of God. 15:05 And if it ain't in the word, it does not deserve to be heard." This gentleman was Martin Luther, 15:11 and Martin Luther in the year 1517 says, "I am going to make 95 statements, or 95 thesis, 15:20 and I am going to nail them to the church's door at the church in Wittenberg, Germany." 15:26 Now you need to understand it took a lot of courage. 15:28 It took a lot of faith for Martin Luther to go up against the church. But every now and then, 15:35 in every season, God calls men, God calls women to stand for the right though the heavens fall, 15:42 because if God before us who can be against us, no weapon formed against us is going to prosper. 15:49 Martin Luther stood up to the mother church and said, "What you are doing, what you are saying is wrong." 15:55 He nailed 95 statements to the door of church in Wittenberg. 16:00 From this, Martin Luther says, "The church needs to reform, the church needs to base its actions 16:06 and beliefs on sola scriptura. The scriptures and the scriptures alone, 16:11 the church needs to base its beliefs on the 'just shall live by faith'. 16:16 Martin Luther nails 95 thesis or statements to the door the church in Wittenberg 16:22 and then we have what we call and have referred to in history as the Protestant Reformation, why? 16:28 Martin Luther is protesting against the abuses of the mother church, 16:33 the mother church who has control over her daughter churches, 16:36 the mother church who has control over the harlot there in Revelation 17. Martin Luther nails 95 thesis. 16:44 He protests against the mother church, and out of this protest, we have protestant, 16:49 and we have the protestant reformation. Out of the protestant reformation, 16:53 we recognize there are changes and new churches begin to spring up. 16:58 Martin Luther says, "Wait a minute, mother, you are talking about the fact that we have to pay money to 17:03 receive forgiveness from sin. Why do we have to pay money to receive forgiveness of sin?" 17:08 The church said, "You have to pay indulgences. These are fees 17:12 because they were trying to collect money to build a new Cathedral." But Martin Luther said, 17:18 "Why do I have to pay in order to receive forgiveness of sin? Jesus already paid it all. All to Him I owe. 17:26 Sin had left a crimson stain, but Jesus washed it white as snow. Sola scriptura, 17:32 the scriptures and the scriptures alone, I do not have to pay to receive forgiveness of sin." 17:37 Remember now, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, 17:40 that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. 17:44 But let us continue, let us find out what this wine is. Go with me now to Revelation chapter 18. 17:49 Let us go to Revelation chapter 18. And I want to begin reading verse number one, Revelation chapter 18. 17:56 And we are going to verse number one, the Word of God says, "And after these things, 17:59 I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power, and the earth was lightened with his glory," 18:07 verse two, "And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying,'Babylon the Great is fallen, 18:13 is fallen', there it is again, 'and it has become the habitation of devils, 18:16 and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird'." Verse three, 18:22 "For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, 18:27 and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her 18:30 and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies." 18:34 Let us stop right there. The text says, verse three, 18:39 "All nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication." 18:43 Now remember we said Babylon was a religious system, secular or spiritual, 18:48 a religious system that would seek to overthrow God and God's people. 18:52 Fallen nations have drank of the wine of the wrath of God, what is wine? 18:57 When we study wine in Bible prophecy, wine represents teachings. 19:01 So, all nations have drunk of the teachings of the wrath of her fornication, 19:07 her immorality, and the kings of the earth have committed immorality with her 19:12 and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. 19:19 Mama made her children drink her wine. Because mother church, 19:30 made her daughter churches drink her wine, which is her teachings. 19:38 The daughter churches, and people now today are drunk because when you drink wine, you get drunk. 19:49 Are you hearing what I am saying? Now, I am told, because I have never drunk in my life, 19:54 but I am told that when you drink wine, you get drunk, and when you get drunk, you cannot walk right. 20:04 When you get drunk, you cannot talk right. When you get drunk, you cannot think right because you are drunk. 20:11 Are you hearing what I am saying? The text says that mama, Mother Church, made her harlots, 20:17 daughter churches, drunk by her teachings. And so now, her children cannot walk right, 20:25 her children cannot talk right, her children cannot think right because they have been drinking mama's wine. 20:31 You all do hear what I am saying? 20:32 Well, "Pastor, what are some of the teachings? 20:37 What are some of the wine that mama has made her children drink?" 20:40 Well, some of the wine that she has made her children drink, indulgences. 20:45 What do you mean indulgences? Well, remember, 20:47 mother said you had to pay in order to receive forgiveness of sin. 20:52 But we realize that is not in the Word of God. That is one of mama's teachings and because of the teachings, 20:58 she has made her children drunk. Because her children have thought, 21:01 I have got to pay money to receive forgiveness of sin. But as we said it earlier, 21:05 we do not have to pay money to receive forgiveness of sin, Jesus already paid it all. 21:09 Another one of mama's wine or one of mama's teachings, well, in order to receive forgiveness from sin, 21:16 you got to go tell your business, you got to go confess your sins to a man through a window. 21:22 No, mama, the Bible says I do not have to do that. I am not getting drunk on your wine. 21:27 But the Bible says if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins, 21:33 and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. I do not have to go confess my sins to a man in a window, 21:39 I can boldly go to the throne room of grace, and Jesus will hear me because two thousand years ago, 21:45 Jesus went to Calvary. His blood was spilled for my sins. He was wounded from my transgressions, 21:52 bruised from my iniquities, fit chastised with my peace was upon Him, but by Him stripes, hallelujah, 21:57 I am healed today. 21:59 What is more of that wine? Those teachings, Sunday sacredness, that the first day of the week, 22:07 Sunday is the Sabbath. No, no, no, that is wine. That is false teaching. The Bible does not say Sunday, 22:16 the Bible says, remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. Six days without labor, do all that work. 22:20 But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God. That is why I am preaching on this Saturday. 22:26 That is why I am worshiping God on this Saturday. That is why because Saturday is the seventh-day, Sabbath. 22:31 I refuse to be drunk. I refuse to talk out of my head. I refuse to walk unstraight. I refuse to think crazy. 22:40 I refuse to be drunk because I am not going to drink mama's wine. 22:47 Verse 4 Revelation 18. So what does God say we need to do? Babylon has fallen, 22:55 so what does He say we need to do? I heard another voice from heaven saying, "Come out of her, my people. 23:03 That ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye received, not of her plagues." 23:12 God is telling us today Babylon is fallen, is fallen. 23:15 God is also telling us in Revelation chapter 18 verse four, come out of Babylon, come out of her. 23:22 God is not calling you to change Babylon. God is not calling you to reform Babylon. 23:27 God is calling you to come up out of Babylon. Do not try to reform a church. Somebody said, Well, 23:34 I got to go back. I got to reform this group, I got to reform that group, 23:37 I got to change this church or change that church. God did not call you to do that. 23:40 God said, "Come out of that church." God said, "Come out of Babylon." 23:46 Remember now, with Babylon, we are not talking about a literal city. But we are talking about a system. 23:52 We are talking about a religious and a political system that is an opposition to God, 23:56 and it is going to seek to overthrow God and His people. 23:59 About to close but my soul is getting happy now. Let me tell you something, all throughout scripture. 24:05 Whenever a system, whenever nations try to go up against God, they lose. Let me say that one more time. 24:12 Whenever systems, whenever nations try to go up against God, they lose. 24:18 Understand, God has never fought a battle that God has lost. Are you hearing what I am saying? 24:24 From Pharaoh in Egypt to Ahab and Jezebel, whenever systems, whenever nations go up against God, 24:31 they lose. Most times in the scripture, whenever God waged war against another nation, 24:37 He would use another nation to fight another nation. But in the end, 24:44 when God destroys the apostate religious systems, and He destroys the nation's against him, 24:53 God is not going to use another nation to do it. God is going to do it himself. 25:00 I am tired of hearing what the enemy has got. I am tired of hearing what military superpowers got. 25:06 I am tired of hearing what the United States has. I am tired of hearing what North Korea has. 25:12 I am tired of hearing what China has. I am tired of hearing the saints talk about unemployment and inflation. 25:18 I am tired of hearing the saints talk about sickness and illness. 25:22 I am tired of hearing the saints talk about the Coronavirus and COVID. 25:26 I am tired of the saints talking about wildfires and hurricanes. 25:30 In the name of Jesus, in the name of the most high God, in the name of the one who woke you up this morning, 25:39 started you on your way, in the name of Jesus, in the end, God is going to win. 25:46 God is going to defeat Satan once and for all. He defeated him in heaven. 25:51 He defeated him at Jesus' birth. He defeated him on Calvary. He defeated him at the resurrection. 25:56 He defeated him at the ascension. He is going to defeat him at the second coming 26:01 and He is going to defeat him at the end of the millennium. Satan is defeated. God is going to win. 26:06 Some trust in horses. Some trust in chariots. But I will trust in the name of the Lord. 26:13 The plagues are coming, the storms are coming, trials are coming, tests are coming, trouble is coming, 26:20 but we will win because we have already won. We won already. 26:27 So devil, you better backup right now. Cancer, you better backup right now. Coronavirus, 26:39 backup right now. Leukemia, backup right now. Arthritis, backup right now. Heart disease, 26:49 backup right now. Bankruptcy, backup right now. Fear, backup right now. Depression, backup right now. 26:59 Divorce, backup right now. Deceit, backup right now. Gossip, backup right now. Lies, backup right now. 27:10 Do not wait until the bell is over. Shout now.
