00:01 Hi and welcome back to Your Favorites By Request.
00:03 It's a delight again to have my dear friend
00:07 Yvonne Lewis-Shelton.
00:09 Thank you for your smile, thank you for your laugh.
00:11 It's always great to not only hear you laugh
00:13 but to hear you sing.
00:15 And so thanks for dropping by.
00:17 Thank you so much for inviting me.
00:19 I love it. Yeah.
00:20 It's so much fun to sing with you, Tim.
00:22 Thank you very much.
00:23 We have people who we're singing with
00:24 around the world.
00:26 I know. Isn't that amazing?
00:27 It really is. I love it.
00:28 I love, I love, I love.
00:30 And not only around the world, but in the heaven
00:33 because the angels are singing Holy, Holy, Holy.
00:37 And this song, Holy, Holy, Holy was written
00:39 around the end of the 1700s, beginning of the 1800s,
00:43 and to think that here we are in the 2000s
00:47 and they're still singing and they were singing long
00:48 before the 1700s.
00:50 Yes.
00:51 And they're going to be singing forever, Holy, Holy, Holy.
00:53 Yes, yes.
00:54 So let's join in with them, all right?
00:57 Great.
01:09 Holy, Holy, Holy!
01:15 Lord God Almighty!
01:21 Early in the morning
01:26 Our song shall rise to Thee
01:33 Holy, Holy, Holy!
01:38 Merciful and mighty!
01:44 God in three Persons
01:50 Blessed Trinity!
02:37 Holy, holy.
02:38 Holy, Holy, Holy!
02:42 Though the darkness hide.
02:44 Though the darkness hide Thee
02:49 Though the eye made blind by sin
02:54 Thy glory may not see
03:01 Only Thou art holy
03:06 There is none beside Thee
03:12 Perfect in pow'r
03:16 In love, and purity
03:25 Holy, Holy, Holy!
03:31 Lord God Almighty!
03:37 All Thy works shall praise Thy Name
03:42 In earth, and sky, and sea
03:49 Holy, Holy, Holy!
03:55 Merciful and mighty!
04:01 God in three persons
04:07 Blessed Trinity!
04:23 Amen. Wow.
04:25 You know, to me, Tim,
04:26 there seems to be such an anointing on that song.
04:29 Like for me, like when I start singing,
04:31 I can't help but lift my hand
04:32 because we're singing to a holy God...
04:35 Right. And you just can't...
04:37 You have to just worship,
04:38 you have to just go into worship.
04:40 I just go into worship mode, I can't help it.
04:41 I totally agree. It just feels so anointed.
04:44 Right.
04:47 Precious. Amen.
04:48 He's holy. He truly is.
04:52 I received a request from a friend
04:55 in Willemstad, Curacao.
05:00 C-U-R-A-C... Curacao?
05:02 That. See...
05:03 Curacao. Okay.
05:05 I think.
05:06 If I'm wrong, just, you know, write in and let me know.
05:08 Well, if you're wrong, it really sounds right.
05:09 But I think it's Curacao. Nice. Okay.
05:11 Well, Brudeska is the name.
05:15 And so this song is, O For A Closer Walk.
05:19 I am not as familiar with this tune
05:20 but I think that you are.
05:22 In fact, I think you said
05:23 that there are some alternate lyrics.
05:24 Yeah, there are. When I heard you...
05:26 Over 1,000 tongues to sing. Yeah, yeah.
05:28 And so this is O For A Closer Walk.
05:31 So I'm going to be reading this right out of the hymnal,
05:33 and thanks to my director who is letting me
05:36 put all my music on the piano here.
05:41 Yeah, yeah.
05:42 He doesn't like the way it looks.
05:43 It looks great.
05:45 But I like the way it sounds a lot better because...
05:47 Right, exactly.
05:48 So let's do this one for Brudeska.
06:11 Sing it for me, Yvonne.
06:12 O for a closer walk with God
06:19 A calm and heavenly frame
06:25 A light to shine upon the road
06:32 That leads me to the Lamb!
06:39 Where is the blessedness
06:44 I knew when first I sought the Lord?
06:53 Where is the soul-refreshing view
07:00 Of Jesus and His Word?
07:30 Return, O holy Dove
07:35 return Sweet messenger of rest
07:43 I hate the sins that made Thee mourn
07:51 And drove Thee from my breast
08:14 What a pretty melody. O For A Closer Walk.
08:15 It is very pretty.
08:17 O For A Closer Walk,
08:18 something we all should pray for a closer walk.
08:21 Yes, yes.
08:23 And in fact, this next song
08:25 is talking about being close to God.
08:29 The Bible says,
08:30 "The nearness of God is our good."
08:33 Jeremiah 29:11-13 says,
08:38 "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,
08:40 say the Lord, thoughts of peace, not of evil,
08:43 to give you an expected end.
08:45 Then shall you call upon Me, and you shall go
08:48 and pray unto Me, I will hearken unto you.
08:51 And you shall seek Me, and find Me,
08:54 when you shall search for Me with all your heart."
08:56 Yes.
08:57 So as we pray for a closer walk,
09:00 I believe that's what that...
09:03 It says, "If you shall seek Me and find Me
09:06 when it's with a whole heart that you search Me."
09:09 Yes. That's right.
09:11 You spent some time on the road a few years ago with Don Moen.
09:14 I did. It's actually more than a few.
09:17 It was several years ago with Don Moen and Ron Kenoly.
09:21 Nice.
09:22 And it was such fun and there was a video,
09:25 and it was a lot of fun, a lot of singers.
09:27 Great. Great singers.
09:29 I love that era of worship music.
09:32 Yes.
09:33 It's kind of really spotlight...
09:34 made brought into...
09:37 made it known more I guess. Yes.
09:39 The worship.
09:40 It really brought into focus the whole idea of praise
09:45 and worship and worshipping God,
09:48 not just corporately but individually.
09:51 Instead of songs going this way,
09:54 you're going this way.
09:55 And it's so beautiful.
09:56 It is beautiful.
09:58 And this is a beautiful song
09:59 talking about the presence of God
10:00 and knowing that if He doesn't go with us,
10:02 we don't want to go, right?
10:04 That's right. So we're following Him.
10:06 It says...
10:08 I just want to be where You are
10:13 Dwelling daily in Your presence
10:18 I don't want to worship from afar
10:24 Draw me near to where You are
10:30 I just want to be where You are
10:35 In Your dwelling place forever
10:40 Take me to the place where You are
10:46 'Cause I just want to be with You
10:52 I want to be where You are
10:55 Dwelling in Your presence feasting at Your table
11:02 Surrounded by Your glory
11:07 In Your presence
11:11 That's where I always want to be
11:16 I just want to be
11:20 I just want to be with You
11:24 Oh, my God.
11:26 Oh, my God,
11:29 You are my strength and my song
11:34 And when I'm in Your presence
11:37 Though I'm weak, You're always strong
11:44 I just want to be where You are
11:50 Dwelling daily in Your presence
11:56 I don't want to worship from afar
12:02 Draw me near to where You are
12:09 Let's just go right into this.
12:12 Draw me nearer
12:16 Nearer blessed Lord
12:19 To the cross where Thou hast died
12:27 Draw me nearer
12:32 Nearer blessed Lord
12:37 To Thy precious
12:41 Bleeding side
12:47 I don't want to worship from afar
12:50 Oh, no, no
12:52 Draw me near to where You are
13:02 Sweet. Oh, nice.
13:04 Precious. Praise the Lord.
13:06 For Marilyn in Georgia, as a good friend of mine,
13:09 she emails me quite often,
13:11 and this is a song that she sent in,
13:13 requesting Jesus, Use Me.
13:16 And I'm not sure if you know this,
13:17 but I'm going to...
13:19 I don't, but I'll listen and maybe I can join.
13:20 I'm glad this is a sing along, so there's no pressure.
13:22 Yeah, there is no pressure whatsoever.
13:25 So sing along.
13:35 Dear Lord I'll be Your witness
13:39 If You will help my weakness
13:44 I know that I'm not worthy, Lord, of You
13:52 By eyes of faith I see Thee
13:57 On the cross of calv'ry
14:01 Dear Lord, I cry, Let me Thy servant be
14:10 Jesus, use me
14:15 O Lord, don't refuse me
14:19 Surely there's a work that I can do
14:28 And even though it's humble
14:32 Lord, help my will to crumble
14:37 Though the cost be great
14:40 I'll work for You.
14:46 He's the Lily of the valley
14:50 The Bright and Morning Star
14:54 He's the Fairest of ten thousand
14:58 To my soul
15:03 He's the beautiful Rose of Sharon
15:07 He's all the world to me
15:11 But best of all He is my coming King
15:20 So, Jesus, use me
15:25 O Lord, don't refuse me
15:30 Surely there's a work that I can do
15:38 And even though it's humble
15:43 Lord, help my will to crumble
15:48 Though the cost be great I'll work for You
15:57 Though the cost be great I'll work for You
16:08 And that's a willing spirit, right?
16:10 That's right. Willing heart.
16:12 That's right. I just say, "Lord, use me."
16:13 And that... Yeah.
16:15 He is faithful to open doors when we...
16:19 Danny says, "The blessing is on the go." Right?
16:21 That's right. That's right. Just you go...
16:23 Be willing to go... Be willing to go.
16:25 And He will open the doors.
16:26 If we're available, He'll use us.
16:28 Right.
16:29 Everybody has been called to do something,
16:31 so we all are called to go.
16:33 Yeah, but just be careful when you say that prayer,
16:35 "Jesus, use me."
16:37 That's right. And make sure you go ahead...
16:38 Make sure you mean it.
16:40 You've got gas in the car 'cause you're going places.
16:44 Yvonne, you're a precious to me
16:46 and I just want to hear you sing this song right here,
16:49 all right?
16:50 Okay. What is it? I'm going to surprise you.
16:52 Oh, my Word.
16:53 When you hear the intro, you'll know what it is.
17:13 Amazing grace!
17:17 How sweet the sound
17:22 That saved a wretch like me!
17:31 I once was lost
17:36 But now am found
17:41 Was blind, but now I see
17:49 Sing along at home.
17:52 'Twas grace that taught
17:55 My heart to fear
17:59 And grace my fears relieved
18:07 How precious
18:09 Did that grace appear
18:15 The hour I first believed!
18:25 Through many dangers, toils and snares
18:33 I have already come
18:42 'Tis grace has brought me
18:47 Safe thus far
18:51 And grace will lead me home
19:01 When we've been there
19:05 Ten thousand years
19:09 Bright shining as the sun
19:18 We've no less days
19:23 To sing God's praise
19:27 Than when we first begun
19:43 Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.
19:45 Amazing grace. Amazing, amazing grace.
19:47 And may you continue to walk in that grace this week.
19:50 Yes.
19:51 Thank you again for being a part of this.
