00:01 Hi and welcome back.
00:02 Through the years, I've come across
00:04 several musicians that have inspired me
00:05 and encouraged me to be better.
00:07 And I have a friend on the line that is just one of those guys.
00:11 His name is Josh Singletary.
00:12 He plays the piano.
00:14 A wonderful, creative musician,
00:16 and I want to talk to him about what music means to him.
00:18 So let's go see.
00:19 Josh, are you there?
00:21 I am here.
00:22 Hi, how are you, Tim?
00:23 It's great to see you. I'm doing wonderful.
00:25 How are you doing today? You see, I'm doing well.
00:27 Those are very kind words you said.
00:28 Well, good. Thank you so much.
00:30 Good. I want to talk to you.
00:31 In fact, about how...
00:33 What does music mean to you?
00:35 Oh, man, you know what?
00:37 I have grown to learn
00:39 that sometimes there is no better way
00:42 to get a message across.
00:43 Now that does not null in fact speaking
00:47 or any messages that are given by spoken word,
00:51 but there's sometimes there is no better way
00:53 to get a message across than through a song.
00:56 And I feel such great responsibility
00:59 when it comes to music in my life
01:01 to be sure that that actually happens.
01:02 Right.
01:03 And in fact, you have that ability
01:05 and that opportunity, the platform,
01:07 because you travel with a quartet,
01:09 southern gospel quartet called Tribute Quartet.
01:11 Absolutely, yeah, I do.
01:12 You sing baritone, you play the piano,
01:15 so music is literally a part of your life.
01:18 It puts food on your table.
01:20 Boy, it does. Yes. It's true.
01:21 So that's awesome.
01:23 And have you been playing piano?
01:25 Playing professionally for 16 years,
01:28 but playing piano all together,
01:29 I've been playing since I was five, so 32 years.
01:32 Awesome. That's great.
01:34 So it is really part of you.
01:36 And if you're like me, I would be lost without music,
01:39 and you're right, it conveys the message sometimes
01:42 when nothing else will get across.
01:43 Absolutely.
01:45 So I want to know also about
01:47 what you're doing currently other than...
01:49 Are you doing anything besides music in the quartet?
01:54 Well, I'm doing a little bit of producing.
01:56 I've been doing a little bit with Daywind Records,
02:00 our record company and doing some producing there
02:02 as well as I have a brand new piano CD out.
02:08 Right.
02:10 That is new. That is new.
02:11 Great.
02:13 So, yeah, very excited.
02:14 Well, where can people find you?
02:16 They can find me at tributequartet.com.
02:18 They can also find me on Facebook,
02:21 Josh Singletary Music or Tribute Quartet.
02:24 Anything...
02:25 Anything can be found at tributequartet.com.
02:28 Tributequartet.com.
02:29 All right. Well, great.
02:31 Well, I'm going to interview you
02:32 at some length later on, but right now,
02:35 I just want to grab a quick song,
02:36 something maybe a favorite, something you grew up singing,
02:39 or that you have heard that always brings a bell to you.
02:42 Oh, yeah.
02:43 Let's do... Let's do...
02:45 I love the song I Stand Amazed in the Presence.
02:48 Oh, yeah, that's a great one.
02:50 How wonderful. Yes.
02:52 I love that one.
02:53 Well, I know you sing baritone,
02:55 so I think we'll put it down in the key of F, all right?
03:04 I stand amazed in the presence
03:08 Of Jesus the Nazarene
03:12 And wonder how He could love me
03:17 A sinner, condemned, unclean
03:21 Oh, yes.
03:22 How marvelous!
03:24 How wonderful!
03:27 And my song shall ever be
03:31 How marvelous!
03:34 How wonderful!
03:36 Is my Savior's love for me!
03:42 He took my sins and my sorrows
03:46 He made them His very own
03:51 He bore the burden to Calvary
03:55 And suffered and died alone
04:00 When with the ransomed in glory
04:05 His face I at last shall see
04:09 'Twill be my joy through the ages
04:14 To sing of His love for me
04:19 I'll sing How marvelous!
04:22 How wonderful!
04:24 And my song shall ever be
04:29 How marvelous!
04:31 How wonderful!
04:33 Is my Savior's love for me!
04:43 Oh, yes.
04:44 Oh, wonderful.
04:46 Josh, thank you very much.
04:47 It's great to see you. God bless you.
04:49 It's good to see you too, my friend.
04:51 God bless you as well.
04:53 I received a precious email with nine requests
04:56 from Nancy in Hartland, Wisconsin,
04:58 telling of a life of struggles and eventual victory in Christ.
05:02 Here's a great John W. Peterson tune
05:05 from the 40s that Nancy requested.
05:07 It Took a Miracle.
05:16 My Father is omnipotent
05:20 And that you can't deny
05:24 A God of might and miracles
05:28 'Tis written in the sky
05:34 It took a miracle
05:40 To put the stars in place
05:44 It took a miracle
05:47 To hang the world in space
05:51 But when He saved my soul
05:57 Cleansed and made me whole
06:02 It took a miracle
06:05 Of love and grace
06:32 Sing this verse with me.
06:34 The Bible tells us of His power
06:39 And wisdom all way through
06:43 And every little bird and flower
06:47 Are testimonies too
06:54 Though here
06:55 His glory has been shown
06:58 We still can't fully see
07:02 The wonders of His might
07:05 His throne, will take eternity
07:13 It took a miracle
07:18 To put the stars in place
07:22 It took a miracle
07:26 To hang the world in space
07:30 But when He saved my soul
07:35 Cleansed and made me whole
07:41 It took a miracle
07:45 Of love and grace
07:57 I just want to sing that chorus one more time.
08:01 Let's sing it together.
08:04 It took a miracle
08:09 To put the stars in place
08:12 It took a miracle
08:16 To hang the world in space
08:20 But when He saved my soul
08:25 Cleansed and made me whole
08:31 It took a miracle
08:34 Of love and grace
08:47 What a beautiful, beautiful song.
08:50 In John 13:34 and 35, Jesus said,
08:55 "A new commandment I give you,
08:57 that you love one another as I have loved you,
09:00 that you also love one another.
09:02 By this, all will know that you are My disciples
09:04 if you have love one for another."
09:07 This song goes out to Shirley
09:09 and serves as a great reminder of our common bond in Christ.
09:13 They Will Know We are Christians by Our Love.
09:27 We are one in the Spirit
09:30 We are one in the Lord
09:33 We are one in the Spirit
09:36 We are one in the Lord
09:39 And we pray that our unity
09:42 May one day be restored
09:45 And they'll know we are Christians
09:48 By our love, by our love
09:51 They will know we are Christians
09:54 By our love
10:00 We will work with each other
10:03 We will work side by side
10:06 We will work with each other
10:09 We will work side by side
10:12 And we'll guard each one's dignity
10:15 And save each one's pride
10:18 And they'll know we are Christians
10:21 By our love, by our love
10:24 They will know we are Christians
10:27 By our love
11:13 I don't play many songs in the minor key,
11:15 so that was an interesting song,
11:17 but a great song, great message.
11:19 And here's another great message.
11:21 It's actually a prayer in a song, Jesus use Me.
11:33 Dear Lord, I'll be a witness
11:37 If You will help my weakness
11:41 I know that I'm not worthy
11:45 Lord, of You
11:50 By eyes of faith I see Thee
11:54 Upon the cross of Cal-v'ry
11:59 Dear Lord, I cry
12:01 Let me Thy servant be
12:07 O, Jesus, use me
12:12 O Lord, don't refuse me
12:16 Surely there's a work
12:19 That I can do
12:24 And even tho' it's humble
12:28 Lord, help my will to crumble
12:33 Tho' the cost be great
12:36 I'll work for You
12:41 He's the Lily of the valley
12:46 The Bright and Morning Star
12:49 He's the Fairest of ten thousand
12:54 To my soul
12:58 The beautiful Rose of Sharon
13:02 He's all the world to me
13:07 But best of all
13:09 He is my coming King
13:16 So Jesus, use me
13:20 O Lord, don't refuse me
13:25 Surely there's a work that I can do
13:33 And even tho' it's humble
13:37 Lord, help my will to crumble
13:42 Tho' the cost be great
13:45 I'll work for You
13:51 Tho' the cost be great
13:54 I'll work for You
14:01 That's a sweet prayer song.
14:03 And I'm going to grab the hymnal over here.
14:05 Many of you asked about these hymnals,
14:07 and this one is the Seventh-day Adventist Hymnal.
14:10 I have a different selection over here,
14:13 but we're going to open this book and see,
14:15 just grab one song.
14:18 This one here, For the Beauty of the Earth.
14:21 Let's see if I know this one.
14:22 And if you know it, sing along.
14:58 Sing with me for the joy of human love.
15:01 For the joy of human love
15:06 Brother, sister, parent, child
15:10 Friends on earth and friends above
15:15 For all gentle thoughts and mild
15:20 Lord of all, to Thee we raise
15:25 This our hymn of grateful praise
15:32 Sing for the gift.
16:03 This is good.
16:04 I sing praises to Your Name
16:08 Oh Lord Praises to Your Name
16:13 Oh Lord For Your Name is great
16:19 And greatly to be praised
16:25 I sing praises to Your Name
16:29 Oh Lord Praises to Your Name
16:34 Oh Lord For Your Name is great
16:40 And greatly
16:42 To be praised
17:00 That's the thing I love about music.
17:02 It speaks to us, and it worships the Lord.
17:05 And I encourage you
17:06 as you're going through your days,
17:08 life gets hard and frustrating,
17:11 but there's always time for a song.
17:13 And I encourage you to send me your request.
17:16 I love to hear from you, and I love to play these songs.
17:19 Hope you are enjoying this program as well.
17:22 And let's sing this last song,
17:23 and I love it as well as you do.
17:28 Jesus, Jesus, Jesus
17:32 Sweetest name I know
17:36 Fills my every longing
17:40 Keeps me singing as I go
17:42 Oh, one more time
17:44 Jesus, Jesus, Jesus
17:48 Sweetest name I know
17:52 Fills my every longing
17:56 Keeps me singing as I go
18:10 Send me a song
18:12 And you sing along with me
