00:34 Hi, boys and girls.
00:35 I am so glad that you've joined us
00:37 for some fun in the kitchen.
00:40 And today, I have some special helpers.
00:43 I have Mr. Seth.
00:45 Hi.
00:47 And I have Miss Cadence. Hi.
00:50 And I have Miss Rachel. Hi.
00:52 And I have Mr. Ben. Hi.
00:56 And today, boys and girls,
00:58 we're gonna be making Miss Cinda's baked beans.
01:03 Yum. Who likes baked beans?
01:06 Me! Me!
01:07 Oh, I love baked beans.
01:11 Baked beans are wonderful to take out at a picnic.
01:15 And they are healthy.
01:16 And they are very healthy for you, aren't they?
01:20 And you know why I like to take 'em on a picnic?
01:23 Because they taste good but you can eat 'em
01:27 at room temperature.
01:29 So you can eat 'em hot, you can eat 'em just warm,
01:35 or at room temperature, or you can even eat them cold.
01:39 And you know what?
01:40 I don't know if any of you have ever tried this?
01:43 I love...
01:46 Can you guess?
01:47 How do I like to eat baked beans?
01:50 In a sandwich.
01:53 I like a little bit of margarine and baked beans.
01:56 Do you want a baked bean sandwich?
02:01 Okay, we're gonna get started.
02:04 You two are gonna make a recipe
02:06 and you two are gonna make a recipe, okay?
02:08 Now for the bake beans,
02:10 I've got some vegetarian baked beans
02:14 so you can add this,
02:16 Seth, you can add this to your bowl
02:18 and the lid's just popped right off, okay?
02:20 Can I add it to my bowl? Yes, Ben.
02:23 Miss Cinda, one time, well, that goes like inside Michigan,
02:30 there was actually somebody dropped out some baked beans,
02:35 and...
02:39 Miss Sandy got the baked beans,
02:42 poured it up and she looked at the label
02:47 and it said pork.
02:52 Do you know what? That's very good, Seth.
02:54 We need to, boys and girls,
02:55 I am glad Seth said that
02:57 because we need to make sure
02:59 that our can says vegetarian on it
03:02 because a lot of baked beans come with the pork in it
03:06 and so you do want to make sure that you read the label first.
03:11 Very good, Seth.
03:12 Okay, you pour yours into the bowl.
03:15 Miss Cinda, mine says vegetarian.
03:18 It does, doesn't it?
03:19 Okay, you know why I have this?
03:22 Because you don't have to rinse the beans
03:27 but we like to drain them, okay?
03:30 So we're gonna... This may...
03:33 We're gonna have to take turns, okay?
03:36 So pour this in.
03:40 God ahead and dump it all in.
03:43 Good job.
03:45 And now let me show you,
03:46 Cadence, let me show you kids.
03:47 Look...
03:49 it's draining, look.
03:52 So all that juice is going into my glass bowl,
03:57 and now we will dump that in there.
04:00 Isn't that cool?
04:02 Okay, now I'll let you guys do that.
04:06 Take the lid off.
04:08 Pour it in.
04:10 Whoa.
04:11 Now lift it up and you can pour it into here.
04:14 You just lift this up and shake a little bit of the juice.
04:16 Miss Cinda, this one has juice from that.
04:19 Seth, could you pour these...
04:20 Put these cans in the trash for Miss Cinda, please?
04:24 Thank you.
04:26 Pour 'em all in.
04:29 Good job. Okay, let's do some more.
04:35 Seth, you want to pour one in?
04:37 Aha. Okay, there you go.
04:39 See all that liquid that's coming out,
04:41 boys and girls?
04:43 We didn't want those in our baked beans, do we?
04:46 No. No.
04:47 Because they will be all juicy.
04:50 That's right.
04:51 Okay, Cadence, you want to dump these into the big bowl?
04:55 There you go. Put it into the bowl.
04:59 Good job.
05:01 Miss Cinda? Huh.
05:02 How all those beans can?
05:05 Oh. Miss Cinda, could I try?
05:07 Yes, Ben.
05:09 There you go.
05:12 I'll hold this up
05:14 since our bowl's getting little filled full here.
05:19 Did you get all the beans out?
05:20 Make sure you get all those yummy beans out.
05:23 Has anybody ever tasted a great northern bean?
05:26 No. Do you want to taste one?
05:29 You can taste one of your beans.
05:32 These are great northern beans. These are pinto beans.
05:35 You can taste one.
05:37 Did you want to taste one, Rachel?
05:38 This is the pinto bean.
05:40 This is the great northern bean.
05:42 What do you think?
05:44 And that's what... Can I try?
05:46 Yes, would you like to try?
05:48 Sure.
05:51 Is it good?
05:52 Oh.
05:54 Okay, now we have one more left.
05:57 Pour...
05:59 Has anybody ever tasted
06:00 a dark red kidney bean by itself?
06:03 No, not me.
06:05 Miss Cinda, we have a dark red kidney bean too.
06:09 You do? Okay, okay, Cadence.
06:13 You want to pour this in?
06:17 Good job.
06:18 Now you can taste a dark red kidney bean.
06:21 Rachel, you want to pour that in?
06:24 And you guys can taste it.
06:26 Which bean do you like the best?
06:28 That white one.
06:29 You like the white one best? I like...
06:32 I like some white ones. That's a red one.
06:35 I like these.
06:37 Oh, you like the red one?
06:39 I like actually all the...
06:43 You like all the beans?
06:45 Miss Cinda, I like all the beans
06:46 but I really prefer these.
06:50 Did you get your great northern beans?
06:52 Is that you want to throw those away for me, Ben, please?
06:54 Sure.
06:56 There you go.
06:57 Good job.
06:58 Rachel, would you take this to the sink for me, please,
07:01 because we don't want to mess.
07:03 We want to keep our work area clean, boys and girls.
07:07 Thank you, Rachel. Yup. Just set it right on top there.
07:10 Good job.
07:12 Okay, look at all these good beans.
07:13 Which beans did you like best, Rachel?
07:17 Do you like the pinto beans, the dark red kidney beans,
07:21 or the great northern beans?
07:25 This. The great northern beans?
07:27 Oh.
07:28 Okay, here Seth,
07:30 could you throw that away for me and this one too.
07:33 Okay, now you guys...
07:36 We're gonna get our veggie hot dogs.
07:40 We're gonna get our veggie hot dogs and...
07:42 Are we gonna cut 'em up?
07:43 And cut 'em into bite-sized pieces, okay?
07:47 Everybody washed their hands, right?
07:49 I should have asked that at the first,
07:51 shouldn't have I, boys and girls?
07:53 Anytime you are working with food,
07:55 make sure that you wash your hands.
07:58 Cut them into 10 pieces. Yeah, like that.
08:01 I washed my hands. You did? Good girl.
08:03 Miss Cinda, I love hot dogs.
08:07 Oh, well, if you want to taste one, you can.
08:13 Miss Cinda has got plenty of hot dogs there.
08:16 Miss Cinda. I love hot dogs.
08:18 You boys and girls, better make sure
08:20 it's not beef hot dogs.
08:22 That's right. These are vegan hot dogs.
08:25 I love hot dogs. You do?
08:27 Can you cut 'em in?
08:28 And you guys when you cut 'em into pieces,
08:30 put 'em in your baked beans, okay?
08:33 Put 'em all in when you get 'em all cut.
08:37 There...
08:38 Miss Cinda, I am gonna cut one and then I am gonna cut both,
08:42 the next two I'm gonna put these two together like this,
08:45 then I'm gonna go like these.
08:46 Is it right, Cinda?
08:49 You have to cut it all the way through.
08:53 Lay it down to cut it. Good job.
08:55 Miss Cinda, look what I'm doing?
08:57 Very good, Ben. Those are good pieces.
09:02 Very good, Rachel. How are you doing, Seth?
09:04 Good. And how did the hot dogs taste?
09:08 Good. Oh, you loved those?
09:09 I tasted one too. You did?
09:12 Did you like it? Uh-huh.
09:14 I ate one. You did?
09:16 Is it yummy?
09:21 Is it good? Yes?
09:24 When you cut 'em, you can put 'em in here.
09:26 Are you putting 'em in here or you are putting 'em in here?
09:33 I put a few in here.
09:36 Oh.
09:37 Miss Cinda, well, our mom
09:41 buys pizza at big Frank's.
09:46 Oh, she does? Uh-huh.
09:47 Oh, those were the two...
09:49 I like the big Frank's Miss Cinda?
09:50 Okay, Ben, could you put in
09:54 a half a cup of...
09:58 No, let's start with a third.
10:00 A third cup of the packed brown sugar.
10:04 I am eating the hot dogs.
10:08 You have another hot dog in your mouth?
10:11 They are supposed to go in the bowl.
10:15 Did you not know that?
10:19 Okay, you want me to measure yours?
10:23 You need a third cup.
10:25 Boys and girls, I'm gonna show you
10:26 for packed brown sugar...
10:27 Miss Cinda, like this? Yes.
10:29 Packed brown sugar, you're gonna press really hard.
10:33 See how I am pressing really hard?
10:36 And you know how you know
10:37 that you have it pressed down really hard?
10:40 Because look...
10:42 That's right.
10:43 It comes like all molded out to the shape of your cup.
10:47 That's packed brown sugar.
10:49 Didn't that look good?
10:51 Okay, Ben...
10:53 Okay, Rachel, could you put in a tablespoon
10:55 of our vegan Worcestershire sauce?
10:58 Miss Cinda? Yes.
10:59 I think we are making out a casserole.
11:03 You think it's a casserole?
11:04 It's baked beans though, Seth. Yeah.
11:07 It looks like a casserole.
11:09 We are gonna bake 'em and guess what?
11:11 Miss Cinda has made some ahead of time,
11:13 so that you are going to get to taste them.
11:17 And then we'll bake yours. Yum.
11:20 Are we gonna make this all up. You know what?
11:22 I should probably...
11:23 Let me get a towel.
11:24 I should probably get mine out of the oven
11:26 because they are really hot and I want to let them cool.
11:31 Look at this, guys. You are gonna love these.
11:35 Look at these. They are hot, hot, hot.
11:39 What do I need when I get something hot?
11:42 A hot hand.
11:43 Ah, I need little hot holders,
11:46 oven mitts, don't I?
11:49 I am gonna put these out here because I want them to cool
11:53 just a little bit before I let you guys taste it.
11:56 Okay, now, Ben, you can dump in all of our ketchup and Seth,
12:00 when you are finished cutting your hot dog,
12:01 you can dump all of your ketchup.
12:03 Ready, Miss Cinda? Yes, you can put it all in.
12:06 Look at your kitchen timer. Right on top of the casserole.
12:09 Oh, was that our kitchen timer? Yeah.
12:11 We got to hurry. We are almost out of time.
12:15 Let's get all these mixed up.
12:17 I'll put your tablespoon
12:20 of vegan Worcestershire sauce in for you, okay?
12:21 Miss Cinda, I like baking in the kitchen.
12:24 You do? Me too.
12:26 You do too? It's fun, isn't it? I do too.
12:30 Oh, I am glad
12:32 because I love having you guys in the kitchen.
12:36 It's fun learning how to cook, isn't it?
12:38 Yeah.
12:41 Okay, Seth, you want to add
12:44 all the ketchup to yours and then you can stir this up.
12:47 Okay.
12:49 And you can stir all your baked beans up
12:50 and we're gonna put it in that casserole dish.
12:53 And I am gonna spray your casserole dish
12:56 with some non-stick baking spray.
12:58 Miss Cinda, I am going to do it with my spatula.
13:01 That's very good, Seth.
13:04 I am glad you did that because that way
13:06 you can get it all out, can't you?
13:08 Miss Cinda, look, I am using both spatulas.
13:11 Well, then, you guys can pour your baked beans,
13:14 get 'em all mixed up and pour 'em in here, okay?
13:17 And you guys can do that too.
13:20 So, Seth, you can...
13:21 You guys can start stirring it up.
13:23 Ready to pour it in there? Are you still eating hotdogs?
13:27 Oh, you're supposed to put 'em in there.
13:34 You are still eating your hotdogs.
13:39 I know why you like to be in the kitchen.
13:43 We messed up your hat. There, how is that?
13:46 Miss Cinda? Okay, stir it all up.
13:48 Miss Cinda, almost all the time at home,
13:51 I help my mom.
13:53 Miss Cinda, it's the timer. That's the kitchen timer again.
13:55 Now we are really out of time.
13:58 Boys and girls, I hope you remember
14:01 that anytime you can be in the kitchen, it's fun.
