00:34 Hi, boys and girls.
00:35 I'm so glad that you joined us
00:37 for some fun in the kitchen.
00:40 And today, I have some special helpers.
00:44 I have Mr. Ben.
00:46 Hi!
00:47 I have Miss Christiana.
00:48 Hi!
00:50 I have Miss Cadence.
00:51 Hi!
00:53 And I have Mr. Sabby.
00:54 Hi. Oh!
00:56 And I have a question, who likes to be in the kitchen?
00:59 Me!
01:01 Oh! Guess what?
01:03 Today, we're going to be making apple pie sticks.
01:08 Do you wonder what those are?
01:10 I made some ahead of time so that you could see
01:13 what they look like.
01:16 Look at this.
01:18 This is what you're going to be making.
01:21 What do you think? Cool!
01:22 Those look good?
01:25 Who wants to learn how to make these?
01:26 Me!
01:28 Boys and girls,
01:29 do you want to learn how to make these?
01:31 You're going to love these.
01:33 They're real easy to make too, and they're fun.
01:38 So Miss Cinda has already made your filling for you.
01:42 So what the filling is, is I took apples
01:45 and I cut them up real small as you can see
01:48 and then I made a sauce
01:50 out of a little bit of margarine and brown sugar.
01:54 And let's see what...
01:55 And I put some cinnamon in it,
01:57 and I cooked them real good.
01:59 And now it's chilled,
02:02 and now we're going to learn how to wrap them
02:04 and then we'll fry them, okay?
02:06 Now if you don't want to fry them,
02:09 you can put them in the oven,
02:12 in a real hot oven like 400-425 degrees,
02:16 and you can spray them with some nonstick baking spray
02:21 or you can spray them with a little bit of oil,
02:24 drizzle it like with a brush,
02:26 maybe even paint them with a little bit of oil.
02:29 And then you can bake them in the oven if you want.
02:33 But we're going to fry them today.
02:36 So Miss Cinda, what's in the center of the table?
02:40 Did anybody know? A frying pan. A frying pan.
02:43 Do you know what it's called?
02:44 Electric skillet.
02:47 And whenever we have electric skillet,
02:50 what do we have to do?
02:51 We have to keep our fingers out of the middle.
02:54 Because why?
02:56 It's hot.
02:57 That's right.
02:59 And we don't want it burned, right? Okay.
03:02 All right, so when we're finished frying them,
03:06 we're going to sprinkle them
03:07 with some cinnamon and sugar mixture.
03:09 So let's have you mixed that up right now, okay,
03:12 so that it's all ready.
03:13 So I gave you each a bowl,
03:15 so each of you take a tablespoon of sugar.
03:19 Find your tablespoons.
03:21 This spoon's it, right, Miss Cinda?
03:22 Yes. Yes.
03:24 Take a tablespoon of sugar. Here, Cadence.
03:27 Yes, find your tablespoon.
03:29 This? That's exactly right.
03:31 Miss Cinda, do we put it right here? Yes.
03:33 Put your tablespoon of sugar in your bowl.
03:37 Oh, I forgot to do that. Very good, Christiana.
03:40 Boys and girls, look how she's measuring
03:43 so nice and accurate.
03:45 We use our knives to level off,
03:47 don't we to make it nice and even?
03:51 Good job, Cadence.
03:55 Very good.
03:57 Okay, and then you're going to take
03:59 a fourth of a teaspoon of the cinnamon
04:03 and put it in your bowl.
04:05 And then you can take your spoon and stir it up.
04:08 And here's yours, Sabby.
04:11 Take a fourth of teaspoon.
04:12 Find your fourth of teaspoon.
04:16 Yep, that's good.
04:17 Fourth of teaspoon. That much, Miss Cinda?
04:19 Oh, we probably have enough,
04:21 okay, Miss Cadence?
04:22 That's good.
04:25 We'll get the cinnamon from Sabby, okay?
04:29 Okay, now put a fourth of teaspoon.
04:31 Find your fourth of teaspoon, good job.
04:35 Boy, you're a good cook, Cadence.
04:39 How old are you?
04:40 Three.
04:42 You're three and you cook this good.
04:45 Wow!
04:46 That's awesome.
04:47 Do you like to cook?
04:49 Yes? Yes?
04:52 Okay, you mix it all up,
04:55 and then we can set it aside, okay?
04:59 That's short, Miss Cinda?
05:00 Yes, that's our topping.
05:03 So we have that all ready, okay?
05:08 Now set that aside
05:09 'cause that's what you're going to spoon
05:11 on your apple sticks
05:14 when we're finished frying them.
05:16 Now I'm going to give you each an egg roll wrapper,
05:21 okay?
05:24 And you're going to spoon
05:27 your apple mixture into the center.
05:29 Now you each have a bowl of water.
05:31 Oh, no, wait, there's water for each of you.
05:34 And what the water is for is...
05:37 I'll wrap one for you and then in that way
05:41 you can see how it's done, okay?
05:43 Let's just put all this here, okay?
05:46 So you can see me.
05:50 Let me move this a little bit.
05:52 Okay, I'm going to take... Here's your apple mixture.
05:55 Here's your apple mixture.
05:57 Okay, boys and girls, I'm going to teach you too
05:59 how to wrap it, okay?
06:02 So would help if I got a wrapper, wouldn't it?
06:06 There we go.
06:08 And I'll move my plates and I'll move my recipe.
06:11 I'll just put it right down there.
06:13 Okay, so you're going to take a little bit...
06:16 Just a minute. Just a minute, Cadence.
06:18 I want you to watch how Miss Cinda does it, okay?
06:21 So I'm going to put some apple mixture right in here,
06:25 and you'll probably want about two spoon fulls, okay?
06:30 We're going to put it in like that,
06:32 then you're going to go like this, watch,
06:35 you're going to go like this.
06:38 Wait, do it like this.
06:40 Go like this.
06:41 So put it on a corner, okay?
06:44 And then put your sides in like that.
06:46 Can you see?
06:48 And then you're going to roll it.
06:50 Now before we finish rolling it,
06:52 take your finger, dip it into water,
06:55 and wet the edge, okay?
06:57 See how I'm doing this, see how I'm wetting the edge.
07:01 And you'll want to get it nice and wet
07:03 because that's what makes it stick.
07:06 See, just like that.
07:08 You see that?
07:10 And now I have it right there,
07:12 and it's ready for frying.
07:14 I'm going to turn our skillet on.
07:16 Miss Cinda, what do you do with the edges?
07:20 Oh! Let me help you.
07:22 Let me put just a little bit of oil in here
07:25 so that it can get hot, so we can fry these, okay?
07:29 Put a little bit.
07:33 And the bottom.
07:36 Right over here. Miss Cinda. Yes.
07:38 Can you help me?
07:39 I would be happy to help you.
07:41 In fact, Ben, let me help her and you can watch me
07:45 do this, okay?
07:47 Okay.
07:48 So here, so we're going to do the corner.
07:49 So you want a spoon, a couple of spoon
07:52 fulls of the apple filling.
07:54 And, Cadence, I'll come and help you too, okay?
07:58 Can you see this, Sabby?
08:01 Put... You want to put...
08:04 Well, you can put a little bit more.
08:06 This is a nice big wrapper, you can put more.
08:11 You don't want to get too much,
08:13 but you want to have enough
08:14 'cause you want to have some of this good tasty filling.
08:17 Okay, so put it towards you like this.
08:19 So we're going to put it like this,
08:22 then you're going to bring the sides in like that,
08:26 bring that, fold it down, and I bring the sides in.
08:29 Now wet your finger
08:32 and put and go along, wet the edges.
08:34 You want to get it real wet, even more.
08:37 Can you get yours?
08:40 Oh, I'll help you, Ben, just a minute.
08:43 Even more.
08:46 Now we roll it like this.
08:50 And see how it sticks, nice. See that.
08:52 And you press it down and then it'll stick.
08:55 Okay, we'll put that right here too,
08:57 and you can start another one, okay?
09:00 So let me start right there in a point like that.
09:04 Okay. Let's move this towards you, Ben.
09:08 Let's go like this.
09:09 And you can take some more filling, okay?
09:12 How are you doing? Oh, Sabby, that's awesome.
09:16 You want to come over here and get another wrap,
09:17 Sabby, and do another one?
09:19 Or Sabby, maybe you could help Cadence do hers.
09:25 That was awesome.
09:27 Okay, look here, Ben, I just tuck this in,
09:32 I fold this over.
09:34 Tuck that in, fold it over, just like that.
09:37 Boys and girls, can you see what we're doing?
09:39 And now wet this really good. You did it already.
09:43 Now what you're going to do is you're going to roll.
09:47 See, you're going to fold it and just keep rolling,
09:50 and because you wet it, see how it sticks down nice.
09:53 Okay, let me give you another one,
09:55 and you can do one.
09:57 Here, Miss Cinda. Thank you.
09:59 Oh, we're going to have lots to fry up.
10:03 Okay, here's another one.
10:06 Isn't this fun?
10:08 And you're going to get to eat them.
10:09 Here, let me help you so you have one to fry. Okay.
10:13 Let's put all your fillings.
10:16 You must like apples. Do you like apples?
10:18 Yes.
10:20 Miss Cinda? Yeah, what?
10:22 Don't we need to fry them?
10:24 Yes, we do.
10:25 I'm heating up our oil. Okay.
10:28 Okay, Cadence. Good job.
10:30 Wet your finger, go all along the edge.
10:35 Do it a little more.
10:38 Good job.
10:40 Make sure you get the edges nice and wet,
10:43 boys and girls.
10:44 Can you wet right over here?
10:45 Get some water right over there. Good job.
10:48 You know what? Sabby,
10:49 you could put more filling in that, okay?
10:51 I think you should still put some more filling
10:53 'cause when you're biting it...
10:56 Okay, let's roll it.
10:58 Miss Cinda, can you please help me?
11:00 I will. There you go.
11:03 Would you like to do another one?
11:04 Okay.
11:06 There you go.
11:07 There you can do another one. Like that, Miss Cinda?
11:10 That's perfect.
11:11 You learned so fast.
11:13 That's perfect, Ben. Awesome. Here.
11:17 Okay, good.
11:18 There you go. And...
11:22 Okay, so here's what you do.
11:24 You can take some more filling too
11:26 'cause you want enough to eat.
11:29 Let's see if this is getting hot yet.
11:31 Oh, you know what?
11:32 This isn't even getting hot yet.
11:35 What is the deal here?
11:37 Oh!
11:38 Our switch got turned off.
11:40 Oh!
11:42 And now it's not hot.
11:45 But you know what, good thing,
11:46 Miss Cinda makes them ahead of time
11:48 so that they can taste them.
11:50 Boys and girls, you're going to want to taste
11:51 these, they taste so good.
11:55 Who likes apple pie?
11:56 Me!
11:58 Do you know these tastes like apple pie?
12:01 That's better.
12:03 Oh! That's our kitchen timer.
12:06 We're almost out of time.
12:09 Here, let me help you.
12:10 So spread this down like this. See.
12:13 Let's move this so we can see.
12:15 Spread this down like this and then fold in this side,
12:20 fold in this side.
12:22 Now let's roll it, okay?
12:24 Can you help me roll it?
12:26 Good job. Here, Miss Cinda.
12:28 Now did you wet the ends right here? Good job.
12:34 You don't want it to be open, boys and girls,
12:36 because then all your filling will fall out
12:39 when you're trying to cook it.
12:41 Oops! Here, Miss Cinda.
12:42 Miss Cinda, can I have help?
12:44 Yes. Here, Sabby. Here.
12:47 What you do, push it all the way down like this.
12:50 Miss Cinda, it got broke right here,
12:53 just a little bit.
12:54 Oh, that's okay because when you roll it over
12:58 because you wet it, it will stick.
13:02 Okay, Ben... That's good.
13:04 Ben, I would put more filling in yours.
13:06 See, how much filling we have in this one.
13:09 This is good. You want more filling.
13:11 So, boys and girls, you want more filling.
13:13 Miss Cinda, is it good? That's good.
13:16 Who wants to taste one
13:17 before our timer goes off again?
13:19 Me! Here you go.
13:22 Thank you. Oh, you're welcome.
13:24 Who wants to taste one?
13:26 Me. Go ahead.
13:27 Here, Sabby.
13:29 We got to at least taste them.
13:31 Here you go.
13:33 You want to taste one?
13:35 You want this one.
13:37 You sure you don't want to taste one? Okay.
13:39 What do you guys think?
13:40 Take a big bite, let's see if you like it.
13:43 Oh!
13:45 Are they good?
13:47 I haven't tried them yet.
13:49 Oh! Let's see if we can fry these now.
13:52 Oh, they're getting... It's almost hot.
13:54 That's our kitchen timer.
13:56 That means we're all out of time for today.
13:59 Boys and girls, remember,
14:01 anytime you can be in the kitchen, it's fun.
