00:04 I want to spend my life mending broken people.
00:15 I want to spend my life removing pain.
00:25 Lord, let my words heal a heart that hurts.
00:36 I want to spend my life mending broken people.
00:47 I want to spend my life mending broken people.
01:07 - Hello, I'm Shelley Quinn. - And I'm J.D. Quinn.
01:09 And I can hardly wait to get this started today.
01:13 We are interviewing four motorcycle evangelists,
01:17 is what I call them.
01:19 But I want to read a scripture to start this off today.
01:24 And it comes from Zechariah chapter 3,
01:28 and let me just start with verse 1.
01:32 "Then he showed me Joshua the high priest
01:34 standing before the Angel of the Lord,
01:36 and Satan standing at his right hand to oppose him.
01:41 And the Lord said to Satan..."
01:43 This is the Lord, the Angel of the Lord, the Lord Jesus
01:46 speaking to Satan, and He says, "'The Lord rebuke you, Satan!
01:51 The Lord who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you!
01:54 Is this not a brand plucked from the fire?'
02:00 Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments
02:04 and was standing before the Angel.
02:06 Then He," the Angel, "answered," that's Jesus,
02:09 "and spoke to those who stood before Him, saying,
02:12 'Take away the filthy garments from him.'
02:17 And to him," to Joshua, "He said,
02:19 'See, I have removed your iniquity from you,
02:27 and I will clothe you with rich robes.'"
02:31 It is the righteousness by faith, robes of righteousness
02:37 of Jesus Christ.
02:38 We have an interview for you today.
02:42 Oh, I'm so excited.
02:44 Let's get started.
02:45 We'll go ahead and introduce our guests.
02:48 Pete O'Connor. Pete, who are you with?
02:50 I am with He Returns Ministry.
02:53 ~ And what do you do?
02:55 ~ I'm actually a Bible worker and some other things.
02:58 I actually do health evangelist as well,
03:01 and literature evangelist as well with the ministry.
03:05 So it's a blessing to work for the Lord.
03:07 ~ And I'm smiling all over because this sweet face...
03:12 I guess y'all are called, bikers?
03:14 ~ Yes.
03:16 I don't know, but boy, I would have never guessed.
03:19 We'll get to that part in a minute.
03:21 But it's so lovely to have you here.
03:24 Then we have James Castillo.
03:27 And James, you are the national vice president for...
03:30 ~ Sabbath Keepers Motorcycle Ministry.
03:32 And you used to be the national president for...
03:36 ~ Banshees MC.
03:38 And that's a one-percenter club.
03:40 Back in the old days, you know.
03:42 It's a miracle what the Lord can do with your crazy life.
03:46 ~ Let me explain that to people who are watching today.
03:50 A one percenters club, we're talking about
03:53 mad dogs, which just happens to be a tattoo that he has.
04:00 This man is 2 Corinthians 5:17.
04:04 He is a new creature in Christ Jesus; completely changed.
04:10 And it's so exciting to see what God can do.
04:15 Wait till you hear his stories.
04:18 And now we have Joanie, and the last name is Price now.
04:22 Joanie Price.
04:24 Joanie, tell us just a little about who you're with.
04:28 Well, I'm with Adventist Motorcycle Ministry.
04:30 We found them at the GC 2015 in San Antonio.
04:36 And we just immediately wanted to get involved.
04:40 Especially with handing out literature and
04:42 telling people about Jesus.
04:43 ~ I love it.
04:45 ~ And then the man with the beautiful hair next to you
04:47 is your husband, Eddie Price.
04:50 - Eddie. ~ Yes, same thing.
04:51 ~ Adventist Motorcycle Ministry.
04:54 I had a homemade motorcycle I built years ago,
04:57 and after the Lord got ahold of me, I said,
05:00 "I don't want this anymore.
05:01 What do You want me to do with it?"
05:03 And I had no answer.
05:05 Until we met the people with the GC.
05:07 And then it started clicking, oh I can use that bike
05:11 to help reach people.
05:13 Alright, now I understand about the bike.
05:15 That's kind of how we got into it.
05:17 ~ You know, it reminds me of the scripture,
05:19 "If you can't run footmen, how are you going to
05:21 keep up with the horses?"
05:24 And you see the horsepower we have behind us right now.
05:28 These wonderful Christian people have a mission:
05:34 Mission Sturgis.
05:36 And if you don't know what Sturgis is,
05:38 Once a year in Sturgis, Idaho...
05:41 - No, South Dakota. - I mean South Dakota.
05:42 In Sturgis, South Dakota there is a motorcycle rally
05:48 where motorcycles come in from all over the world.
05:52 We were there at the Black Hills once just after
05:56 they had been there, and there had been 500,000 motorcyclists
06:00 who had come in.
06:01 And last year it was 1.2 million, wasn't it?
06:04 ~ Oh no, that was 2015.
06:05 2015 it was 1.2 million.
06:08 But it's a... I don't know how to say it.
06:14 It's Babylon. It's pagan.
06:17 It's people who don't know about Jesus.
06:23 They don't know about His love, they don't know about His power.
06:26 And they are looking for love in all the wrong places,
06:31 is how I'm going to say it.
06:33 But you guys go to these different motorcycle rallies,
06:38 and you have a wonderful ministry.
06:40 But before we get into the ministry,
06:43 we've just been fascinated listening to the stories
06:47 in the green room.
06:48 And they bring God such honor.
06:50 So once again, I come to your face that just beams
06:56 with the love of the Lord.
06:58 Tell us a little about your youth and what happened,
07:03 and how God plucked you out of the fire.
07:05 ~ Sure. I grew up Adventist.
07:09 And of course, my family were Adventist, but what
07:13 made them only Adventist was going to church every Sabbath.
07:16 They were still into the secular world.
07:19 We still listened to the worldly music,
07:21 watched all the worldly movies.
07:23 So it was a lot easier for me to leave the faith.
07:26 So as I got older into high school, I joined the military.
07:31 Did 20 years in the Air Force.
07:33 So I got stationed in Nebraska.
07:36 And within my third year of my being in the military,
07:40 that's when I started hanging out with the
07:42 wrong type of crowd.
07:44 I started drinking, I started smoking,
07:47 And just one thing led to another.
07:49 And next thing you know, I'm no longer with the Lord.
07:52 And I didn't want anything to do with the Lord at all.
07:55 And throughout my life I got into bad habits.
07:59 And next thing you know, I got into motorcycles.
08:02 And I remember my very first motorcycle that I bought was a
08:05 2009 Harley Davidson Iron 883.
08:09 I got into that, and then I started
08:10 hanging out at the biker bars.
08:13 And I got really intrigued into the motorcycle club.
08:16 And so, I got introduced to a motorcycle club
08:19 that I wanted to be in.
08:20 And for you to be in that club, you have to be invited.
08:25 So I got invited to be in that club.
08:27 I hung around for three months, and then the club member has to
08:31 do a 100% vote if they want to have you in the club.
08:35 And you have to prospect for a whole year.
08:38 So they voted yes,
08:40 and I prospected for this club for one year.
08:44 And it was real easy for me to prospect because
08:48 I went through boot camp...
08:49 ~ I just want to say something, Pete.
08:51 These weren't sweet little Christian motorcycle clubs.
08:54 This was a bad boy club, right?
08:56 ~ Yes, yes. - Okay.
08:59 So when I got into the motorcycle world
09:02 and I started prospecting for this club,
09:05 it didn't really reflect Christ at all.
09:08 You know, it did everything what Christ does opposite.
09:12 You know, what the devil wants you to do.
09:14 And so, I did that for five years.
09:18 And God was tugging my heart.
09:22 And He kept me safe throughout the whole entire time.
09:25 And I remember, you know, "Train up a child..."
09:27 and you remember the things that your mom taught you.
09:29 And I remembered the things that my mom taught me
09:31 when I was a lot younger.
09:33 And the Holy Spirit started bringing things back to me.
09:39 I remember, I was getting sick at one time,
09:42 and I changed my diet from eating meat
09:46 to plant-based in one day.
09:48 And that's when I started cleaning up,
09:51 and that's when I started hearing the Holy Spirit
09:53 even more and more, and saying, "Hey, what are you doing?"
09:57 One day I just went up to my club member and I said,
09:59 "Hey, I want to follow Christ again,
10:02 and I want to give up this lifestyle that I'm living in.
10:05 It doesn't reflect Christ at all."
10:07 And they were in shock.
10:09 And so, I turned in all my color, my vest,
10:13 everything that had to do with club stuff.
10:15 I gave everything up; you know, the belt, the hats, everything.
10:21 And that's when the Holy Spirit turned me around.
10:23 It was a process, and that's why, you know, like
10:26 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, "Therefore, if any man
10:29 be in Christ, he is a new creature
10:31 and old things are passed away."
10:32 And that's what God started doing to me.
10:35 He was changing me in that process.
10:37 But at the same time, He was letting me know,
10:40 "Hey, you're still a filthy person,
10:42 but I'm going to change you.
10:44 And it's going to be a process.
10:45 I'm going to take you down this road."
10:46 And that's what He did.
10:48 And ever since then I've given my life to God,
10:52 and now I witness to the biker community.
10:55 And that's my talent that I use for the Lord.
10:58 ~ Glory to God. How exciting.
11:00 We know that He is, as Philippians 2:13 says,
11:04 "working in you to will and to do His good pleasure."
11:06 And you know what? We can count on His...
11:09 One of my favorite promises, Philippians 1:6,
11:12 "that He who began a good work in you will be faithful
11:16 to complete it until the day of Christ Jesus."
11:20 I'm so excited.
11:21 - James Castillo. ~ Yes.
11:24 James, show us your tattoo.
11:27 ~ And that tattoo says, Mad Dog. - Yes.
11:31 ~ Tell us a little bit about... You are now a chaplain.
11:35 I mean, tell us of the fire that God plucked you out of.
11:43 ~ Right, well I too started off as a Roman Catholic
11:47 bringing up in childhood.
11:50 Around high school time, you know, you start running around
11:54 with the wrong crowd.
11:57 Smoking, drinking, smoking pot.
12:00 Next thing you know, you're doing harder drugs.
12:03 I got involved with some, I won't mention names,
12:06 with club members in the Bay area.
12:09 I started dealing drugs.
12:11 Before I knew it, I was so wrapped up in it that
12:14 I joined a little local club; it was called, Satan's Legion.
12:20 You know, from there things just started
12:24 moving so quickly in the meth world.
12:27 That's why they call it, go fast.
12:31 You know, things were really going fast.
12:33 ~ Is meth called, go fast? ~ Yes.
12:35 You're talking to people who are a little bit too protected.
12:39 ~ They call it crank, meth...
12:41 It's got a whole bunch of different names.
12:43 ~ I know it's a bad drug. ~ Yes, it's really bad.
12:45 So you know, I did meth sales and meth production
12:51 for a lot of years.
12:53 I became the...
12:54 Let's see, first I started with the Satan's Legion
12:57 which got absorbed into a bigger club, a national club.
13:01 It's called the Banchees.
13:02 I started there as a road captain,
13:04 worked my way up to president,
13:05 and all the way to national president.
13:08 And the things that take place in the dark.
13:14 That's why the Bible says to have nothing to do with the
13:17 "unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them."
13:22 ~ So what was the result of all of that?
13:24 ~ Well, after three prison terms, my last time around
13:31 I was at the Sacramento county jail where a young guy
13:34 just started telling me about Jesus and His love for me,
13:38 and how He could help me out and change my life.
13:40 And some things happened there at that jail
13:42 where I decided to be a Christian.
13:44 It was little over a year later I was at Folsom State Prison,
13:49 and I met a young man there that was preaching
13:52 the Adventist message.
13:54 And he became my cellie.
13:56 And I got a crash course in Daniel and Revelation.
14:00 James Rafferty and Ty Gibson were very instrumental in
14:04 the Daniel and Revelation prophecy seminar studies
14:08 that we were doing there.
14:10 So I decided that... My wife was raised Mormon.
14:14 So I'm sending her these studies.
14:16 And we get to the Sabbath, and she goes,
14:18 "Boy, you guys just can't leave nothing alone, can ya?"
14:22 So anyway, we both decided at that point to become members
14:27 of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
14:29 I paroled from Pelican Bay State Prison in 2003,
14:34 and became a deacon at the Mount Shasta Seventh-day Church.
14:42 We moved from there to Whitmore California
14:45 where I became an elder, became head elder.
14:48 And in this ministry, we began in this ministry
14:52 in I think 2009, right around there somewhere.
14:56 ~ So this was a true 180-degree conversion.
15:01 You turned to the Lord completely.
15:03 ~ Oh completely, we decided to leave all that behind.
15:05 My wife asked me, "Is your dragon dead
15:09 or is it buried in the snow?"
15:11 I said, "Oh, it's dead. I'm never going back there."
15:14 And so, yeah, we've been very involved with this ministry,
15:17 with Sabbath Keepers for the last,
15:18 it's going about 12 or 13 years.
15:21 And we are literature evangelists.
15:25 We go to these ministries...
15:27 As can see, I graduated from AFCOE.
15:31 Basically, you know, we'll get some people that are very
15:34 interested in Bible prophecy or even just
15:38 learning more about Bible truths.
15:40 Sometimes we get people we've given like an hour or two hour
15:44 long Bible studies right there at the booth.
15:46 ~ That's wonderful. - It's really just amazing.
15:49 We call it, making friends for heaven.
15:51 And it's a lot of fun.
15:54 My wife told me before that you need to take your
15:58 old talents that you used to use in the outlaw world
16:02 and reapply them to the good.
16:05 And so, when I was making my
16:12 thing out for getting jobs, the resume,
16:16 you know, I was into sales.
16:20 I had to learn how to write up all these different things.
16:22 But apply those things to living in a right life.
16:25 And the Lord has just blessed us so much.
16:28 I mean, you know, as David said, that if I was to
16:31 try to recount them, I couldn't do it.
16:33 - Things are just over the hill. ~ Amen, praise God.
16:37 And I have to tell you.
16:38 He showed me some picture from the past,
16:41 and you wouldn't have been somebody
16:42 that I wanted to meet in an alley.
16:44 I'll put it that way.
16:46 ~ I think that what really is catching my attention is,
16:48 and please listen to this, people are afraid to
16:53 share Jesus in the marketplace.
16:55 Here you have two different guys just lay it down and said,
16:59 "Hey, I know someone that can make a difference in your life."
17:04 And, I'll be, it did happen.
17:09 And a lot of people, "Oh, there's nothing really to that,
17:12 you know, I mean.
17:13 And I'm not qualified to say that Jesus loves you,
17:18 He can make a change in your life."
17:21 I mean, you're evidence, both of you are evidence,
17:24 you know, that people pray for you, and prayer works.
17:29 You know, when we go to these events, people that
17:32 used to know me from the old days,
17:34 they see me now, you saw my pictures,
17:36 so they see and say, "What happened?"
17:40 I say, "Well, you know, I met Jesus."
17:44 The parable about the shepherd going and looking
17:49 for the lost sheep, people say, "Oh, I found Jesus."
17:52 I say, "No, you didn't find Jesus.
17:53 He found you."
17:55 ~ Amen. ~ Exactly. - And that's how it works.
17:56 He finds you.
17:58 ~ He chased you down with His love.
17:59 ~ At the very lowest point in your life,
18:02 He will just pick you up, clean you up,
18:05 take you out, give you a mission.
18:06 and empower you to do it.
18:09 That's the whole thing.
18:11 ~ And now you're out giving hope to the hopeless.
18:13 So, I mean, and that's something that...
18:18 Somebody once said, treat everyone as if
18:22 their heart is breaking.
18:24 Because it probably is.
18:26 And sometimes the roughest, meanest, toughest people
18:30 are people who have been brought up not to know love.
18:35 They've been brought up to be rejected,
18:38 to feel worthless.
18:39 And they're looking for power, they're looking for fellowship.
18:44 And they join up with these gangs.
18:46 And oh, God wants them.
18:50 ~ This is exactly what Pete and what James both have said.
18:54 You came to a place, and it was in your high school years,
18:57 that you got involved with the wrong group.
19:02 You both used those exact words.
19:03 You got involved with the wrong group.
19:06 And boy, if you look back...
19:08 Please listen to that.
19:10 Because it's easy to do.
19:12 You know, there's people out there that are feeding on
19:14 people, and they're offering to send the right thing
19:17 whether there's any depth to it or not.
19:20 ~ The apostle Paul says bad company corrupts good morals.
19:24 ~ I had a man hire me for a company
19:29 that does juvenile transport.
19:32 It's called, Guiding Hands.
19:34 And when I gave him my testimony, he thought about it.
19:38 When I went back to his house, he goes, "You know, I think
19:40 you would be working good on one of my teams.
19:42 Because you could minister to these kids."
19:45 So when we're transporting the kids, I'm in the front seat
19:49 and they're in the back, and we'd stop somewhere.
19:51 So I'd turn around and talk to them
19:52 and say, "Hey, you know, what?
19:54 I haven't always been in the front seat.
19:55 At one time in my life I was right where you are."
19:57 And so, you know, it breaks the ice and you get to
20:00 talk to kids like that.
20:01 ~ Amen, amen.
20:03 And now we come to Joanie.
20:06 And Joanie, your story is a little different.
20:09 You were really a pretty straight-laced person
20:13 brought up to be very prim, proper, modest.
20:18 Tell us a little of your background.
20:22 Did you grow up in a Christian home?
20:24 ~ Oh yes, I was raised Roman Catholic.
20:27 I raised my children Roman Catholic.
20:30 I taught catechism.
20:32 And then I met this guy in 1991, and he asked me a question,
20:40 and he said, "Do you think God would give power
20:42 to a man to change His laws?"
20:44 And I said, "No."
20:47 And he said something about the fourth commandment.
20:49 And I said, "Yeah, 'Honor thy father and thy mother.'"
20:51 And he said that's not the fourth commandment.
20:52 And I said, "Yeah, it is.
20:54 I taught catechism, I know what my commandments are."
20:56 So anyway, he got the Bible out, and,
20:59 "Remember to keep holy the Sabbath day..."
21:01 And my life has never been the same since.
21:05 So the Lord plucked you out even.
21:08 I mean, it was... You were a Christian.
21:11 You were just following traditions of men.
21:14 ~ Right.
21:15 But having read a lot more of the Bible,
21:18 I had a Bible, but you know, the church doesn't, Catholic,
21:22 doesn't really promote Bible reading.
21:25 I remember in 1980 they were going to have Bible studies
21:31 in the home, in our church in Guntersville.
21:34 And so I wanted to do it because I always wanted to read more.
21:38 I mean, you know, I read all the Catholic
21:40 books and things like that.
21:41 But anyway, my mother said, and she was in her 60s at the time,
21:46 and she said, "Well, no, the priests told us that
21:49 we're not to read the Bible.
21:51 That they'll tell us what to do."
21:52 And I'm like, okay.
21:54 I mean, I know that was a Catholic thing
21:57 from way, way back.
21:59 But you know, my mother was only 60 at the time,
22:02 and she was still, you know...
22:04 Anyway, so I started reading a lot.
22:07 I read the Conflict series. And I've just been reading.
22:10 And I was very, very blessed because my husband,
22:14 he was not my husband at the time, but anyway,
22:17 he would not give me the studies because he didn't want
22:19 me to do it for him or for the wrong reasons.
22:22 So he said, "If you want to know more,
22:23 you're going to have to go find it for yourself."
22:27 So I was blessed in that I went to Sacramento Central Church.
22:33 At that time they did not have a senior pastor.
22:36 And so I had to go to another church,
22:38 and a lovely lady was giving me studies.
22:42 But I went to Central Church.
22:44 If the doors were open, I was there.
22:46 I don't care what it was. I was a member of the choir.
22:49 I absolutely loved it.
22:50 And then we got a new pastor who taught several of us
22:54 in his home, and his name is Doug Batchelor.
22:57 So, Doug and Karen, they're just very close to my heart.
23:01 ~ Amen, amen.
23:03 You know, my family is not happy with me.
23:05 My father was livid.
23:07 He said, "How could you leave that church?
23:09 If it was good enough for your mother,
23:10 it ought to be good enough for you."
23:12 And I finally, finally, and I don't know why I didn't
23:16 ask him that same question that was asked of me,
23:19 but I finally did, not too long before he passed.
23:22 And I said, "Dad, let me ask you a question.
23:24 Do you think God would give the power
23:26 to man to change His laws?"
23:28 And he said, "No."
23:30 And I said, "Dad, that's why I'm a Seventh-day Adventist
23:32 and I'm no longer a Catholic."
23:33 ~ And you know, maybe I should explain that,
23:36 because some of you may be saying,
23:37 "Well, what is she talking about?"
23:40 The Catholic Church makes it no secret.
23:44 They take, they boast on taking credit for changing
23:51 the seventh-day Sabbath to Sunday.
23:55 And the Catholic church, many of their documents
23:57 say you can read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation
24:02 and find no scripture that authorizes that change.
24:06 And they actually boast, they poke fun at Protestants
24:12 saying, "Oh, you Protestants, you left the Catholic Church
24:15 to begin with, saying, 'The Bible, and the Bible only.
24:19 Sola Scriptura.'"
24:20 But they say, "You who are keeping the Sunday,
24:25 the first day of the week, in place of the Lord's Sabbath,
24:30 which is Saturday, you are following a tradition
24:34 of the Catholic church, because it is a mark of our authority
24:39 that we changed and transferred the sanctity of
24:45 Saturday to Sunday."
24:49 So that's what she's saying when Eddie was asking her,
24:54 "Does a man, can a man..."
24:57 Jesus said, "You make void the Word of God
25:02 because you teach the traditions of men."
25:05 So Eddie, bless you first of all for being here.
25:09 I want to get to an experience you had about 8 months ago.
25:13 But first, you were in the Pentecostal church?
25:20 ~ I was raised Pentecostal by my mother
25:22 and Jehovah's Witness by my dad.
25:24 And we did not talk religion at the table.
25:31 - You could see why. ~ I can see why, yes.
25:32 Two different worlds.
25:34 And... Go ahead.
25:35 ~ I was just going to say, how did...
25:37 I mean, I know you're a retired Seventh-day Adventist pastor.
25:41 How did the Lord, with that home environment,
25:47 how did God get your attention and center you
25:51 in on the truth of His Word?
25:55 ~ How long do we have?
25:58 ~ Give us the Reader's Digest version.
26:01 I'm just pulling... We'd have to write a book.
26:04 The way the Lord has worked in our lives.
26:06 But to begin with, just a short point there,
26:10 I didn't like God because of the religion, the conflicts I saw.
26:16 And I saw hypocrisy.
26:18 So it turned me against God.
26:21 And when that happened, my conscious kept going,
26:24 getting like these guys talked about, my conscious was
26:26 chipped away, chipped away until I almost had no conscious.
26:30 I'm not going to tell you all the background stuff,
26:33 but I got to where I was very dangerous
26:37 to myself and to anybody else around me.
26:41 My brother who passed away said,
26:42 "Eddie, I am so glad you became a Christian."
26:45 I said, "Why?"
26:46 "Because you were either going to get killed
26:49 or you were going to kill somebody."
26:50 So I'm not going to go into detail.
26:53 Where I would like to go into detail is, our motto is,
26:57 "Every ride is a mission."
27:00 We're not a club.
27:02 We're an outreach for our Father.
27:05 We have a way to reach people that other people can't reach
27:10 because of our interest in bikes.
27:12 Our bikes are a draw.
27:14 And it opens up conversations to where we can plant seeds.
27:19 And when you go to Sturgis, 500,000 people or more,
27:24 there's a lot of God's kids out there.
27:28 But they don't know that He loves them.
27:31 And that's what we are there for.
27:33 We are there to plant seeds that the Holy Spirit can water
27:37 when we're gone.
27:39 I could tell you stories after stories.
27:42 But we also follow Christ's method alone
27:45 to bring true success in reaching the people.
27:48 Most of us know that.
27:50 He first principle was to mingle.
27:56 The desire for good for them.
28:00 So we have learned to mingle with people.
28:04 And these people, again, they're God's children.
28:08 We also know that there were two things
28:13 that the disciples on the day of Pentecost
28:15 they wanted to do, and we are trying to reflect that.
28:18 The first thing is, they wanted to reflect Christ's character.
28:22 They wanted to treat people like Christ treated people.
28:26 We've picked that up and said, that's what we want.
28:29 Number two is, the only other motive they had was
28:32 to reach people that weren't ready, weren't saved.
28:36 That's our second motive.
28:38 First one, be like our God. Be like our Jesus.
28:42 Number two, do what we can to reach as
28:45 many as we possibly can.
28:47 Now, we also know that The Great Controversy
28:51 is something that the writer of The Great Controversy
28:54 said it was more precious to her than gold or silver.
28:59 And it was one book that she wanted passed out
29:02 more so than any other book.
29:04 The Great Controversy.
29:07 Most of us probably know this part of the history.
29:09 Satan tried to kill her.
29:12 He tried to kill her because of the vision that
29:15 that book was going to become.
29:18 Now I'm going to give my testimony.
29:20 I do have a master's in public health,
29:21 I have a BA in theology, I have a masters in divinity.
29:31 God has been able to use those degrees,
29:35 but they're not the most important thing.
29:37 The most important thing is, am I like my Father?
29:42 Now I'm going to share something with you,
29:43 a testimony real quick.
29:44 This testimony is really not about me.
29:48 It's about our Father.
29:50 Eight months ago Joan and I were going to an event
29:53 on our bikes, and before we went I put a message out
30:00 to the people of our chapter.
30:03 And I said, "I feel like Satan is after us,"
30:06 me and Joan, "and please pray for us.
30:09 Because I think he doesn't like us."
30:11 Because why?
30:12 Because we are entering his territory.
30:15 We're doing what we can to bring those brothers and sisters
30:18 back out of that mess.
30:20 And he don't like us.
30:22 It's a war. We're in a war.
30:24 It's called the great controversy
30:27 between Christ and Satan.
30:28 So I wrote that and I said, "Please pray for us.
30:32 We feel like we're in danger."
30:34 Two days later a car ran over me.
30:39 He come up on the back of me.
30:41 I was sitting still, come up on the back of me,
30:43 hit me, pulled me under his car with my bike,
30:46 pulled me under his car on my face,
30:49 and he drug me 140 feet.
30:52 This is after I said, "He's after me."
30:57 Joan, bless her heart had to pull me
30:59 out from underneath the car.
31:01 Enough guys were there to pick it up.
31:03 She pulled me out on my face turned me over,
31:05 thought I was dead, but saw my tummy moving in and out.
31:09 I didn't walk for three months.
31:11 I'm not going to tell you all the different
31:12 things that got busted.
31:14 But I didn't walk for three months.
31:16 I've been walking for about four or five months now.
31:19 Still a little wobbly, but I'm learning to re-walk again.
31:22 But the reason I'm telling you the whole story
31:25 is, I can hear Satan saying to God our Father,
31:31 "You know that Eddie?
31:32 He thinks he's something in this ministry.
31:34 He thinks he's..."
31:36 Giving Him all kinds of weird stuff about me.
31:38 And the Father says, "You think so?
31:41 I tell you what. Go ahead and do what you've got to do.
31:43 But don't you kill him."
31:46 It reminded me of Job.
31:48 You know what? Whew.
31:51 I love my Father more now than before I was drug
31:56 underneath that car.
31:57 I'm not kidding you. I love Him more now.
32:01 That's my story.
32:02 ~ Praise the Lord.
32:04 You talk about distributing The Great Controversy
32:08 and all of that, and for us in our private life,
32:11 I mean, aside from being on the bikes,
32:13 is that we take that book with us all over.
32:16 We have it in our truck in the,
32:19 you know, side panels of the door.
32:20 And when we go to a restaurant, we put the tip in it.
32:23 We're just giving it out, handing it out everywhere.
32:26 And I think I told you earlier, I have a three-wheel bike
32:31 that I started riding at the age of 72.
32:34 And people come up and say, "Oh, that's so beautiful."
32:38 People that don't have anything to do with motorcycles at all.
32:41 And I tell them we have a ministry,
32:44 and I hand them the book.
32:45 So it's going out to more than just motorcycle riders.
32:49 ~ Okay, what I want to do is, let's talk about,
32:55 you brought some pictures.
32:56 They've got some great pictures of their ministry.
32:58 And they were in Daytona.
33:01 How many motorcycles? About 300,000 did you say?
33:04 How many were there in Daytona?
33:05 ~ It could be that. I'm not positive.
33:07 So let's run through some of these pictures.
33:10 Because they've got something great planned for this year.
33:15 Mission Sturgis.
33:16 But we want to look at what they've done in the past.
33:20 And then we're going to see how they're going to go forward.
33:24 So walk us through these pictures real quick.
33:26 This is in Daytona.
33:29 ~ Okay, so this year we decided at the Daytona rally
33:32 to try the facet of the medical ministry with the booth.
33:39 And so, Joan was part of that, so she can tell you
33:42 how that went there.
33:43 ~ So this is a massage?
33:46 ~ We had the massage thing where you
33:49 just sit in a regular chair.
33:50 They're kind of a portable thing.
33:51 And we would just be telling people, "Free massage."
33:55 And some would come, you know.
33:57 I would personally ask them if they had, because there was
34:00 a massage therapist, if they have any sore spots
34:03 on their body, or something.
34:04 And I personally, as I'm giving a massage to anyone,
34:08 I always pray for the person, and pray that, you know,
34:11 whatever ache or pain that they have, God will take away.
34:15 And a lot of these people, I go back to my modest raising,
34:20 you know, they have nasty names and things on their shirts,
34:23 and stuff like that.
34:24 And giving massages to these people has changed me.
34:29 ~ Yeah, and hold your story about Sturgis,
34:32 because I want to bring that back.
34:33 Don't let me forget that one story of how God changed you
34:37 through a prayer when they were at Sturgis.
34:40 So keep going on these pictures.
34:41 You've got literature. You've got booths set up.
34:45 And you're having the massage therapy,
34:48 you give out health food.
34:49 ~ Here, this man is...
34:51 ~ That's the literature. Health literature, yeah.
34:54 ~ He's looking at health literature.
34:56 ~ And then we've got...
34:57 ~ We give out a packet of books when we're finished.
35:01 How to Overcome Stress, How to Reverse Diabetes,
35:05 We also give out the Steps to Jesus, that book.
35:10 ~ I think we're going to have a graphic
35:11 of that in just a moment.
35:13 And then you pray with people.
35:14 I think now, are we, that's basically Daytona.
35:18 Excuse me.
35:19 So let's look at these pictures from Sturgis.
35:24 This is amazing.
35:25 And we start off on Main Street.
35:28 You just see a little portion of Main Street.
35:30 And look at those bikes.
35:32 ~ Yeah, so this is looking at one direction
35:34 from about the west end of town.
35:37 And if you turn around and flip the other way,
35:41 you get about the same picture going the other way.
35:44 Main Street is approximately about a mile long.
35:46 So during the noon hour, they bullhorn
35:51 where you can get up on the tower to take pictures.
35:55 So they do a group picture there.
35:57 And it's just, they call everybody in from the streets
36:01 and the shops, and it's thousands of people there.
36:03 This motorcycle rally takes place in August, isn't it,
36:08 every year, it's an annual event.
36:10 And if you watch the news in August, you're going to see.
36:15 Because they always have some news stories from there.
36:18 There's always people who end up being killed on their bikes.
36:21 We were at Black Hills Health and Education Center,
36:26 and Sturgis had just finished.
36:29 And we drove the route, and they had places marked
36:32 where people had gone off with their bikes.
36:34 But this is a good time for you to tell your story.
36:38 When you're at Sturgis, what you're seeing,
36:42 these 500,000 people aren't your run-of-the-mill people.
36:48 These are people who live a rough and tumble life.
36:52 Tell us how the Lord changed your heart.
36:56 When you first went to Sturgis, how you were so appalled.
37:02 Eddie and I were looking for the book on Sunday morning.
37:06 I mean, for the booth.
37:07 And so we walked one end of the main street to the other.
37:11 And one of the ladies that was there,
37:14 it was outside of a massage parlor,
37:16 and she had on, I think it was just a G-string.
37:19 And her body was just covered with tattoos.
37:22 ~ So she was totally nude other than a G-string.
37:25 ~ Right. - Okay.
37:26 And so when we got down to the end of the street,
37:28 I looked at Eddie and I said, "What are we doing here?"
37:31 ~ You see a lot of topless people.
37:33 - Exactly, yes. ~ Women that are going topless.
37:35 And you see them, you know...
37:37 I think our first time was in 2016.
37:40 When we went again in 2021, I think you saw even more topless.
37:44 But anyway, in 2016 I wouldn't look at the women.
37:49 I mean, I just wouldn't. I couldn't talk to them.
37:51 I couldn't say anything to them.
37:52 I'd talk to the men and the women that were dressed.
37:54 But anyway...
37:56 ~ Because when you see somebody that is abject
38:02 immorality, if you've been brought up to be modest,
38:08 sometimes there's just that disconnect from them.
38:11 Until God gets ahold of your heart.
38:13 And tell us what happened.
38:15 Well, on Wednesday, and it started on Sunday,
38:19 but anyway, on Wednesday I said, and I probably said it to Eddie
38:23 too, I said, "You know, something has got to change,
38:26 because my heart is not right."
38:28 And I said, "You know, Jesus, when Mary Magdalene was
38:32 thrown at His feet, I'm sure she didn't have
38:34 very many clothes on."
38:35 And I said, "And He loved her."
38:38 But you know, He told her, "Where are your condemners?"
38:40 And she said, "There are none."
38:42 And He said, "Well, I don't condemn you either.
38:44 Go and sin no more."
38:45 And so, I asked God for the heart of Jesus
38:48 in regards to these ladies that were inappropriately dressed.
38:53 Anyway, the next day I could talk to them.
38:56 It just didn't matter.
38:57 Eddie said it was a miracle.
38:59 Yeah, I watched it. I was just, whoa.
39:02 The change over night in her attitude,
39:05 it was just amazing to see that happen.
39:07 ~ And I think that the most important thing
39:10 is that you asked, and we all need to pray this,
39:13 and I pray it all the time, "Lord, fill me with Your love
39:18 for these people."
39:20 He pours His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit,
39:22 Romans 5:5 says.
39:24 So I pray for His love.
39:25 "And help me to see them the way You see them."
39:29 And that's what He did.
39:30 ~ You know, it was interesting, before we went to Sturgis,
39:34 I have a lot of hats at church: the church treasurer,
39:38 the head deaconess.
39:39 Anyway, so I got up at the pulpit and I was telling people
39:44 where we were going.
39:46 And especially women that I knew personally,
39:49 they were looking and they had this look
39:51 on their face like, "Ew."
39:52 And I said because they knew me, and I said,
39:56 "You know, this isn't for everybody to do,
39:59 but somebody has to go reach out to people
40:02 and to pass the message."
40:04 And the whole look on their faces totally changed.
40:07 Because it isn't for everybody.
40:09 ~ That's right. - You know.
40:11 But we're told to go out and...
40:12 ~ I think we all have a different ministry.
40:14 ~ We do, we do.
40:17 ~ We really, really do.
40:19 ~ You know, those 500,000 people aren't going to come to us.
40:23 We've got to go to them.
40:24 ~ And they need to hear. - They really do.
40:26 ~ You know, James, in the greenroom you mentioned
40:29 that you were like the demoniac.
40:32 And we see that in some people's lives.
40:36 Because their influence has only been Satan.
40:42 And often they've become what they beheld.
40:45 They grew up in something.
40:46 But God's power is amazing.
40:50 So let's continue, because we want to
40:52 get to what they're doing this year.
40:53 But let's go through the rest of these pictures real quickly.
40:57 ~ Alright, so this is the beast that we take.
40:59 You know, the Lord said, "I'll make you fishers of men."
41:01 What a lure!
41:03 This is great.
41:04 And the brother that makes these, his name is Tyler.
41:09 He's with The Final Images.
41:12 And he gave me this quote
41:14 that Ellen White wrote in Manuscripts, page 105, 1906.
41:20 She said, "I am pleased with the manner in which our brother
41:22 has used his ingenuity and tact to provide
41:25 suitable illustrations for the subjects presented.
41:29 Presentations that have a convincing power.
41:32 Such methods will be used more and more in this closing work."
41:36 ~ Amen. So explain to somebody, because
41:39 a lot of you are not well studied Bible Christians
41:46 that are watching.
41:48 Explain to us, what is that beast?
41:51 And I mean, I can imagine when you've got that thing
41:53 at your booth, people are coming up going,
41:55 "What is this?"
41:57 ~ Yes, so it's the image from Daniel chapter 7.
42:01 And it talks about the indescribable beast
42:05 with the horns, and a little horn coming up amongst them.
42:09 So basically, we're there with this beast...
42:12 ~ So this is a prophetic symbol of a world-dominating power.
42:17 ~ World dominating power, yes.
42:18 Okay.
42:20 And we're able to open up conversations with people
42:23 and actually give them a Bible study
42:25 right there on Daniel chapter 7.
42:27 It works out pretty well.
42:30 Two years ago we had a big red beast
42:33 where the woman rides the beast.
42:35 And, wow, we got a lot of people interested in that one.
42:38 So we're hoping to get that one back there this year too.
42:41 ~ Yes, Eddie. ~ Yeah, real quick.
42:42 When we're using that beast, some of the children come along
42:45 and they go, "Daddy, daddy, monster, monster."
42:50 And they say, "Go ahead and take a picture
42:55 of your child with that monster.
42:57 Do you know what this monster means?"
42:58 "No." Then we have a handout with it.
43:00 "Well, you know what? If you get a chance, read this."
43:02 And you read that, and it explains that whole Daniel 7
43:08 and Revelation 13.
43:09 It explains it.
43:11 And it's so easy to give this to the people.
43:13 ~ And you know, I have to tell people that
43:15 the beast, the symbol of this beast,
43:17 it is a power that rises up.
43:20 But the point is, when you read Bible prophecy,
43:24 it's not meant to scare us.
43:26 Jesus is telling us in advance so that when it happens,
43:31 we will know.
43:32 And the Book of Revelation and Daniel, very symbolic.
43:36 And so, there's signs and symbols.
43:39 And like you said, it's a great lure.
43:43 I'm sure there's a lot of people that come because of that.
43:48 Okay, so I think you have a couple more pictures.
43:50 ~ Yeah, so we have some of the literature that we hand out
43:54 There is The Great Controversy.
43:57 ~ And let's see those because this is fascinating.
44:01 ~ We have Steps to Jesus, The Ride Of Your Life.
44:04 And that's basically Steps to Christ.
44:07 But it's got the motorcycle on the cover.
44:08 It looks like a little Harley Davidson emblem at the top.
44:12 And people will take that more readily.
44:15 ~ And who is this that you see the reflection of?
44:19 ~ It has Jesus reflecting in the air cleaner cover there.
44:23 Yeah, so those go like hotcakes there.
44:26 ~ I can imagine they would. They have a great appeal.
44:28 ~ We hand out lots to children.
44:30 It's amazing how many people bring
44:32 their children to this event.
44:33 It's just crazy.
44:35 We hand out thousands of pieces of literature
44:37 for children every year.
44:40 ~ Now you also pray with people.
44:42 ~ Oh yes, this shows Pete there praying with a couple.
44:49 The mom and the son, right?
44:52 ~ Yes, yes. As a matter of fact,
44:54 it was the first week of Sturgis.
44:57 And she was coming by and we talked with her,
45:01 and we asked if we could pray for her.
45:02 And she gave us a little insight of what's
45:05 going on with her personal life.
45:08 About a year ago she lost her son
45:11 due to his lifestyle of drinking, smoking,
45:14 and died of, I believe it was a heart attack.
45:18 I really don't know.
45:19 But she has one son left,
45:21 and he's out there in Sturgis partying.
45:24 So we prayed for her and asked the Holy Spirit that,
45:28 you know, to tug her son's heart.
45:31 After the rally was over, about three months later
45:34 she gives us a call and gives us a report, and says,
45:38 "We want to let you know that God answered my prayer
45:42 because my son is no longer doing the things of
45:44 what he was previously doing."
45:47 So she said, "Thank you for the prayers, because it worked."
45:50 I said, "Praise the Lord."
45:51 So that's just one instance of what God is doing in Sturgis.
45:55 ~ Alright, so we've got this Sturgis rally coming up.
45:58 What are you doing this year that's different?
46:00 ~ Alright, so this year what we're trying to do...
46:02 So we did a small-scale medical evangelism booth there.
46:08 We're trying to get something bigger scale
46:11 at Sturgis this year.
46:12 We want to, we actually have a couple of doctors that
46:17 I'm hoping they come to do health screenings.
46:21 We also are looking at, one of our contacts at Loma Linda
46:25 is working with a couple of dentists probably to come
46:27 and do spot checks on people's mouths and teeth.
46:31 ~ Why do you think the health message is important?
46:34 ~ Well, Pete can tell you why.
46:39 Why the health message is important
46:41 is because of the lifestyle.
46:42 Because the lifestyle that I used to have:
46:45 the drinking, the smoking, the meat-eating,
46:49 the wrong type of meat eating.
46:51 And it corrupts your frontal lobe because you're not able
46:55 to connect with God, you can't hear the Holy Spirit.
46:58 And that really affected me, because when I was
47:01 in that lifestyle, I couldn't hear the Holy Spirit.
47:04 But when I actually changed my diet from what the world was
47:09 doing to a plant-based diet, I was able to hear
47:12 more of the Holy Spirit.
47:13 ~ You started regaining your health.
47:15 ~ Regaining my health, exactly.
47:17 I was blacking out, I had really panic attacks,
47:21 anxiety as well.
47:23 And all these things went away within two to three months
47:26 when I changed my diet.
47:27 And of course, it wasn't the food.
47:29 It was God.
47:30 You know, God is the one that healed me.
47:32 And I give glory to Him because He's the one that actually
47:35 changed me because He loves me.
47:38 And I thank Him every day for what He has done in my life.
47:43 I thank Him for what He's done in
47:44 all of your lives, it's so amazing.
47:46 But for this event, are you looking for volunteers?
47:51 What kind of volunteers? How many volunteers? Tell us.
47:56 ~ Okay, so right now we're looking for
47:59 people that would be able to come for...
48:01 Okay, the event is ten days long.
48:06 If you can make it for ten days, that's great.
48:08 But if you can come for five, and another group come for five,
48:12 you know, it works out.
48:13 We're looking for massage therapists,
48:16 you know, if there's nurses that can volunteer some time.
48:20 And we really need literature.
48:22 We need donations for literature and housing.
48:26 Being at the Sturgis rally is very costly.
48:31 People there, I was going to tell you about Sturgis.
48:34 The people that live there, they rent out their houses,
48:37 their front yards, their backyards.
48:39 And the money that they make during the rally
48:42 pretty much carries them through for the whole year.
48:45 Because they charge very much for the territory.
48:50 ~ So what we want to do right now, I want to give
48:55 each one of these, we've got three different...
48:58 These aren't motorcycle clubs.
49:00 These are Adventist motorcycle ministries,
49:04 each one of them.
49:05 And you ride for the brand, the brand of Jesus Christ.
49:10 And every ride is a mission.
49:13 But this project, Sturgis, we want you to have the
49:17 opportunity if you would like to volunteer,
49:20 even just for a few days.
49:22 I'm sure they're coordinating all that.
49:24 So James Castillo, give us your contact information.
49:29 If somebody wants to volunteer,
49:32 maybe they're a massage therapist, physical therapist,
49:36 a masseuse, well I said massage therapist,
49:38 but somebody that would like to work the booth,
49:41 hand out literature, how do they get in touch with you?
49:44 ~ Okay, so my contact information is...
49:53 That's my personal email.
49:55 And my personal phone number is...
50:03 Now they can contact our national organization...
50:13 ~ So that's Sabbath Keepers Motorcycle Ministry.
50:25 And yeah, personally contacting me, if you're going to
50:30 want to volunteer, because I'm making up a calendar
50:33 with all of the names and everything.
50:35 So yeah, I'm the guy that they want to talk to.
50:37 ~ Alright, now if somebody just wants to donate,
50:40 is there a specific place they should donate to?
50:43 ~ We have a...
50:44 ~ Or to any of your clubs.
50:46 ~...a link on our website, but it's really, you know,
50:50 you have to jump through all these different
50:51 hoops to get to it.
50:52 If they just call me, I can hook them up with
50:54 the information a lot easier.
50:57 So let's repeat your information then
50:59 rather than giving...
51:00 Is there any reason why we should give the other
51:02 two ministries information, or is it all being directed...
51:06 ~ You know, we all have different contacts
51:09 out there, so if they...
51:11 ~ So now, Pete, give us your contact information
51:14 for your ministry.
51:15 You can contact us at...
51:28 ~ Okay, and Joanie, how about you all?
51:31 AdventistMotorcycleMinistry.org
51:42 If people want to volunteer, though, we're basically
51:46 trying to put them through you, James.
51:49 And give us yours one more time.
51:51 My phone number is...
52:05 So that's how they can volunteer for this wonderful event,
52:09 this, Mission Sturgis, is what it's called.
52:12 We are going to take a quick break
52:15 and come back with a closing thought
52:17 from these wonderful people.
