00:17 Hello and welcome back to Praise. I'm Kelly Mowrer and
00:21 this half hour we're going to listen to a series of songs
00:24 reminding us of the blessing of being with Jesus who loved
00:29 us so much he came to be our friend. On September 13, 1845
00:33 this letter appeared in the New York Observer written by a man
00:37 named Thomas Salmon. He wrote, during my residence at Coles
00:41 Hill, Worwicher, England I became acquainted with
00:43 W. W. Walford, a blind preacher. A man of obscure birth and
00:48 connections and no education, but of strong mind and most
00:51 retentive memory. In the pulpit, he never failed to select a
00:55 lesson well adapted to his subject, giving chapter and
00:59 verse with unerring precision and scarcely every misplacing
01:02 a word in his repetition of the psalms, every part of the New
01:05 Testament, the prophecies and some of the histories so that he
01:09 had the reputation of knowing the whole Bible by heart.
01:12 He actually sat in a chimney corner employing his mind and
01:15 and composing a sermon or two for Sabbath delivery and his
01:18 hands in cutting and shaping and polishing bones for shoe horns
01:22 and other little useful implements and at intervals
01:25 he attempted poetry. On one occasion, paying him a visit,
01:29 he repeated two or three pieces which he had composed and having
01:33 no friend at home to commit them to paper, he had laid them up
01:37 in the storehouse of his mind. How will this do, asked he, as
01:41 he repeated the following lines with a complacent smile touched
01:45 with some light lines of fear lest he subject himself to
01:48 criticism. I rapidly copied the lines with my pencil as he
01:52 uttered them and I sent them for insertion in the observer if you
01:56 should think them worthy of preservation. And these are the
02:01 lines. Sweet hour of prayer, Sweet hour of prayer that calls
02:06 me from a world of care and bids me at my Father's throne make
02:12 all my wants and wishes known. In seasons of distress and grief
02:18 my soul has oft found relief and oft escaped the tempter's snare
02:24 by thy return sweet hour of prayer. Listen as we start with
02:29 Diane singing What a Friend We Have in Jesus and Sweet Hour of
02:34 Prayer. Diane Anders/ What a Friend
02:43 Medley. What a friend we have in Jesus,
02:51 all our sins and griefs to bear.
02:59 What a privilege to carry
03:09 everything to God in prayer.
03:17 Oh what peace we often forfeit,
03:26 Oh what needless pain we bear,
03:34 All because we do not carry
03:42 everything to God in prayer.
03:50 Are we weak and heavy laden,
03:58 cumbered a load of care?
04:07 Precious Savior still our refuge
04:15 Take it to the Lord in prayer.
04:24 Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
04:31 Take it to the Lord in prayer.
04:40 In his arms he'll take
04:42 and shield thee.
04:48 Thou wilt find a solace there.
04:58 Sweet hour of prayer
05:06 Sweet hour of prayer,
05:13 that leads me from
05:20 this world of care.
05:26 And I oft escape
05:33 the tempter's snare
05:39 By thy return
05:46 sweet hour of prayer.
05:58 Take it to the Lord in prayer.
06:20 Kateena LeForge He's Just As Real to Me
06:37 No one can make me believe
06:44 God's not real.
06:52 Year after year more of himself
06:58 to my heart he reveals.
07:04 This world can't seem
07:10 to understand this mystery
07:18 If they would only look
07:24 beyond those things
07:30 their eyes can see.
07:36 He's just as real to me
07:43 as if I'd held his hand a million times,
07:50 though I've never seen him smile
07:57 I know I've felt him by my side.
08:04 These ears have never heard him speak
08:10 but my heart has heard him
08:14 time and time again.
08:18 And just like a friend would be
08:23 He's just as real to me.
08:32 Interlude
08:40 When I think of mercy
08:45 love, forgiveness, grace so sweet.
08:54 And open arms that have
09:01 so tenderly embraced me.
09:09 There's just no way
09:12 this world can make
09:15 me disbelieve.
09:22 This God through eyes of faith
09:26 this heart of mine
09:31 has clearly seen.
09:36 He's just as real to me
09:41 as if I'd held his hand
09:47 a million times
09:50 though I've never seen him smile
09:57 I know I've felt him by my side.
10:04 These ears have never heard
10:08 him speak but my heart has
10:13 heard him time and time again
10:19 Just like a friend would be
10:25 He's just as real to me
10:32 as if I'd held his hand a million times
10:39 though I've never seen him smile
10:45 I know I've felt him by my side.
10:51 These ears have never heard him speak.
10:59 But my heart has heard him
11:03 time and time again.
11:08 Just like a friend would be
11:15 He's just as real to me.
11:21 He's so real to me.

18:05 to be in his presence, but he's never not known exactly where

18:11 back and be with him and let him bless you and give you a
18:14 sense of peace in hour heart that he loves you very much.
18:17 As we close now listen first to Jill play the beautiful prayer

19:31 more concerned with dating than with truth.
19:39 Too cool to join the choir. Too smart to go to school,
19:46 Church was boring

19:56 But all through the years
20:00 your open eyes and ears
20:03 saw just enough of rest
20:07 among the people here
20:10 to know that you could trust,
20:16 to know that you were loved.
20:22 Until there came a day your heart could finally say
20:36 I want to go where you are going
20:42 I want to be among your people
20:47 where you are.
20:50 I cannot live my live alone

21:26 50 different lifestyles down one hall

22:55 to know that you could trust
23:02 to know that you were loved
