00:01 So if you just joined us on Cook:30 for Kids,
00:03 we're cooking up a storm in the kitchen.
00:07 We have Sophia here from California,
00:09 and Lilly and Lachlan from Illinois.
00:12 What's on the menu today, guys?
00:14 Well, we have some cheesy popcorn
00:16 which are very cheesy.
00:18 And some raw carrot cake.
00:21 Sounds great.
00:23 And a summer fruit dipping chocolate
00:25 to end it all up.
00:28 We are making excellent progress
00:30 here in the kitchen, guys.
00:31 Awesome, the popcorns done,
00:33 the carrot cake's in the freezer.
00:34 And now we're gonna make a really nice
00:37 topping for the popcorn.
00:38 Sounds good.
00:39 So this is what I call a like a parmesan cheese.
00:41 So basically you could hear of parmesan cheese...
00:43 It's not that all healthy for you.
00:44 So this is basically a really simple
00:46 salty kind of a thing
00:47 and all you do is add one cup of cashew nuts,
00:50 there's quite a few cashew nuts here.
00:51 So, Sophia, if you can measure in one cup of cashew nuts?
00:54 And to go along with that, we're going to have...
00:56 Wait a second. That's a half cup.
00:57 It's a half a cup.
00:59 Yes, so you do two of those. Okay.
01:01 And we're gonna add four table spoons
01:03 of flaked cheese which is really
01:04 nice kind of a cheesy flavor.
01:06 So if, Lilly, you can get,
01:07 which is actually same as quarter of a cup.
01:09 Oops, there's water in it.
01:10 Really? I'll get you another.
01:11 Yup, so four tablespoons is a quarter of cup.
01:14 Okay.
01:15 So here is a tablespoon measure.
01:16 So if you can put four of those in there as well.
01:18 And we're just gonna add quarter of teaspoon
01:20 of salt as well,
01:22 and this will make a really, really nice,
01:24 kind of, sprinkle to go with the popcorn.
01:26 Just two? Yes, that's two. That's right.
01:29 We'll mix it round.
01:31 So, Lachlan, if you can put some of the popcorn
01:32 and we're gonna serve in this nice dish here.
01:35 So if, Lachlan, if you can get popcorn in there,
01:37 don't put all of it in, just put enough
01:38 and just kind of, so it's kind of probably
01:40 three quarters full.
01:41 This doesn't smell so good.
01:43 Just use your hands, I think that's probably easy.
01:44 Doesn't it? No.
01:45 No. Just need to smell.
01:47 Yeah, it smells very cheesy,
01:48 it's kind of like a cheesy kind of a smell.
01:50 So we mix it, Sophia, it would be great.
01:52 What I'm gonna do is put this on the blender
01:55 and blend.
02:01 And there, just like that we have this really lovely,
02:05 it's kind of a parmesan, give a bit of a knock,
02:07 there's some stuff at the bottom,
02:08 kind of a parmesan cheese.
02:10 Look at that. Looks great.
02:11 It's really nice kind of salty, kind of cheesy,
02:13 kind of healthy thing to go on the popcorn.
02:14 Healthy powder. Yeah.
02:16 That does look exactly like parmesan cheese.
02:18 Exactly, except it's better.
02:19 So what we're gonna do is just little sprinkle off
02:21 some olive oil on the popcorn, getting it out there lovely.
02:25 Lachlan, it's awesome... Got to go fresh food.
02:28 So we're gonna just a light sprinkle of olive oil.
02:30 Are we going to put salt on it?
02:32 Well, there's salt in the parmesan sauce
02:33 so you can have that if you want.
02:35 And we're gonna sprinkle some of this over it like that.
02:39 Ooh, that looks good. You're putting it in, Lachlan.
02:44 And it's just a really nice kind of cheesy popcorns.
02:47 So most popcorns you get where they taste cheesier,
02:50 full of lot of flavor enhances, preservatives
02:52 and lots of stuff that's not all that good for you.
02:54 So just put another touch of olive oil in...
02:57 Looks amazing.
02:58 And Sophia, if you can just get
03:00 the little bit of mix around in the bowl?
03:01 Put your hands in and you mix it around.
03:02 Keep putting in, Lachlan. Okay.
03:04 Just kind of stir around and get underneath
03:05 to the bottom.
03:07 Try to avoid any burnt bits on the bottom if you can there,
03:09 if it's any there.
03:11 And there you go, there's popcorn
03:12 ready to go, very, very healthy.
03:13 Give it a try, guys. Okay.
03:15 See what it's like.
03:20 Now this definitely tops my dads.
03:24 It's fantastic. Let's hope he didn't hear you.
03:29 Okay. So that job is done.
03:33 So now we want to just...
03:35 Amazing, that's very nice.
03:37 A really nice fruit platter.
03:39 And we're gonna make a really nice dip here.
03:41 Now in the supermarket, you can find some, you know,
03:44 chocolate spreads to go on your toast,
03:45 you've seen some of those around?
03:46 Yeah. Yup.
03:48 So we're gonna make a healthy one of those.
03:49 Like Nutella? Yes, kind of except.
03:51 So is it a hazelnut spread?
03:53 It is a hazelnut spread.
03:54 Yay!
03:57 So we've got some hazelnuts here
03:58 somewhere floating around, where have they gone?
04:00 Oh, here they are. Oh, they are here, my fault.
04:02 So hazelnuts, so if you can measure in,
04:05 Sophia, a cup of hazelnuts into there?
04:09 I thought those would be browned.
04:10 Right. Mellow brown.
04:12 Yeah, so these are roasted hazelnuts.
04:15 I'll just open the packet here.
04:16 Yeah.
04:18 There you go, just get the knife in here.
04:19 Thank you. There you go.
04:21 So a cup of that.
04:23 And we're also gonna add in some carob powder.
04:26 Now a carob powder is kind of an alternative cocoa powder,
04:29 there's no caffeine in it.
04:30 It's a much healthier option to have.
04:32 So you can find it in most supermarkets and health stores.
04:34 There's caffeine in chocolate?
04:35 There's a lot of caffeine in chocolate.
04:37 I never knew that. Yes, exactly.
04:40 So we're gonna add some of this and we're gonna add...
04:42 Oops.
04:43 How much more do you want me to put in?
04:44 Just one cup is great. Okay.
04:46 And we're gonna add some carobs, so two tablespoons.
04:49 So, Lachlan, if you can add two tablespoons of carob powder?
04:50 Okay.
04:52 And, Lilly, if you can come over and put in
04:53 two tablespoons of agave?
04:55 Okay.
04:56 So just put in about two tablespoons,
04:58 I'll tell you when to stop.
04:59 So when I'm drinking hot chocolate...
05:00 Yeah. I'm actually drinking caffeine?
05:02 That's right, believe it or not.
05:05 Does coffee have a lot more caffeine?
05:07 Coffee does have a lot more caffeine,
05:08 so it's a drug that you kind of generally want to avoid.
05:11 Should I just estimate or use...
05:13 Just estimate. Okay.
05:14 So after you cooking for a while,
05:15 you can estimate things.
05:17 First time you try the recipe, you probably want to
05:19 do it properly.
05:20 So we're gonna put one cup of almond milk in.
05:22 That looks great.
05:26 It almost looks like...
05:28 No, keep going. Oreo.
05:29 Like an Oreo thing. Oh, yeah.
05:31 And we're gonna add just...
05:32 Cookies and cream, that's what it looks like.
05:34 Eighth of a teaspoon of salt.
05:36 And we're gonna put a lid on. If you can find lid over there.
05:38 And if, Lachlan, you can press the go button.
05:40 Okay.
05:41 And we're gonna make a very own hazelnut dip.
05:44 Over they go.
05:50 So we got some lovely fruit here.
05:53 Right.
05:55 These guys want to try, it's looking pretty good.
05:59 So press stop.
06:01 So this one's kind of runny one.
06:02 Fit for a change.
06:04 It's just little bit runny, isn't it?
06:05 So actually we'll put more hazelnuts in
06:06 'cause it's too runny.
06:08 So we're making it runny so it's more of a dip.
06:09 If you wanted to make it like a spread for...
06:10 How much? We'll put them all in.
06:12 If you want to make it a spread for toast,
06:13 you'd make it lot thicker and put less almond milk.
06:16 So it's kind of spread.
06:17 So we want a dip, so it's gonna be
06:19 little bit of runny.
06:21 So you can just adjust the thickness
06:22 depending on what you are using for.
06:26 Let it go, might be few more seconds,
06:28 few more seconds.
06:29 All right.
06:31 And, yup, that's probably enough.
06:33 And then we have a spread. So do you want to try that?
06:35 Dip this spoon in there and see what that tastes like.
06:38 Lovely hazelnut dip. Oh, it smells good.
06:41 Looks like it too, doesn't it looks chocolaty?
06:44 What do you think, guys?
06:47 It's really good. Yeah, it's really good.
06:49 It's a very healthy one for you too,
06:50 which is excellent.
06:52 So we're gonna use that, put that aside.
06:54 And now we're gonna make a nice fruit platter.
06:56 So when you're having dessert, you don't need
06:57 to make always fancy things.
06:59 You can make a nice simple fruit platter
07:00 can be really nice.
07:01 So we're going to do some, put some peaches here.
07:06 So if, Sophia, you can chop up some peaches?
07:08 Yeah.
07:09 So again, we just want to just chop them up into wedges
07:11 so people can eat them nicely.
07:13 So you probably want to go around in half like that.
07:15 And then just kind of do wedges like that.
07:16 Okay.
07:18 So if you can turn two of the peaches into that
07:20 and put it on the platter?
07:21 Lachlan, now you'll be doing some strawberries.
07:23 Okay.
07:24 So the strawberries... Strawberries.
07:26 So we want to dip them.
07:27 So basically you want to probably have nice big chunks.
07:30 So just find, we got a clean knife somewhere.
07:33 There we go. Here we go.
07:34 So just chop the ends off like that
07:35 and just cut it in half.
07:38 What do I do with the pip?
07:40 Just take it out. Yup, take it out.
07:43 Place is where the pip is, cut around it.
07:45 Okay.
07:46 And take the fruit pieces off it
07:48 and then pip will come off easily out of that.
07:50 I'll get some off here for you so it's kind of easier.
07:51 Okay. There you go.
07:54 So you're gonna keep, oops, there's bit of a harder one,
07:56 this ones been in the supermarket for too long,
07:57 we need another one for you.
07:59 And, Lilly, if you can get the raspberries over there?
08:01 Okay.
08:02 And you can put them on the platter as well.
08:05 Can I borrow your knife?
08:06 Sorry. No, that was good.
08:08 So when you're doing, you try and go,
08:09 when you're cutting it, you've got it here,
08:10 you kind of want to cut up around like this,
08:13 so you got lots of little half moons.
08:14 Okay.
08:15 So that's the nicest way to dip them in.
08:18 Yup and... Like that?
08:20 Yup and slide the knife through.
08:21 Lovely.
08:22 And yup, come on, careful with your thumb there.
08:24 Cool, excellent.
08:25 Beautiful and see if you can do that one as well.
08:27 Just here, look out for your thumb,
08:28 you don't want to cut things.
08:30 So strawberries here and yup, put some raspberries,
08:32 so just put the raspberries on the platter as well.
08:36 I've also got lovely pineapple here.
08:37 A lovely juicy pineapple.
08:39 Now probably this is actually nice,
08:41 it kind of looks, doesn't look green and fresh,
08:43 it's just because it's really, really juicy.
08:45 So this is gonna be a better way to have this so...
08:49 I'm just gonna chop this up here.
08:50 So we just chop some widges off here
08:55 and just kind of slice off the edges and put it on.
08:58 So it's gonna be a lovely fruit platter.
09:00 It's a lovely fruit to dip into our beautiful,
09:06 beautiful chocolate hazelnut spread or dip.
09:10 So it's gonna be a great,
09:11 great little snack thing to have.
09:13 So here you got some cheesy popcorn,
09:15 carrot cake's in the freezer, we'll present it up shortly.
09:17 And our meal is ready to go.
09:20 Great.
