00:01 Hey, campers, welcome to Kitchen Fun.
00:02 Today, we're gonna be making some flapjacks.
00:06 Well, pumpkin pie spiced pancakes.
00:11 Pumpkin pie spice pancakes.
00:13 That sounds pretty goofy, Tiara.
00:16 What in the word flapjack doesn't?
00:21 Now before we get started, let's grab our ingredients.
00:24 Right. Let's see.
00:29 I don't see the nutmeg.
00:31 Do you have the pumpkin spice?
00:34 Let's go check over here. I'll go check over here.
00:39 Yeah, I'm still not seeing anything.
00:43 Hey, I have an idea. Let's go, Jewlee.
00:46 Oh, okay.
00:49 Come on. Can you help me?
00:51 Oh, Jewlee. Got there.
00:53 There we go. There we go.
00:55 Let's go.
01:38 There we go.
01:39 Oh, hey, you're back.
01:41 Oh, we found all of our ingredients
01:43 and started making our flapjacks.
01:46 Pancakes.
01:48 Oh, it looks like you need more margarine.
01:49 I'll go grab some for you. Watch that.
01:51 Oh, yes.
01:53 You go.
01:55 Hey, you know your cooking has really improved
01:58 since you started watching Miss Cinda on Kitchen Fun.
02:01 Thanks. You know, so was yours.
02:03 Thanks.
02:04 You know, we even haven't caught anything on fire yet.
02:06 That's true.
02:08 And I know how to measure things now.
02:10 See, tablespoon, teaspoon.
02:13 Hey, that's pretty good, Jewlee.
02:15 Right, let's put these on here.
02:18 And there you have it,
02:20 a steaming hot plate of flapjacks.
02:23 Okay, pumpkin pie spice pancakes.
02:29 Why are you laughing? It's not even that funny.
02:31 Sure, it is, pumpkin pie spice pancakes.
02:35 Try saying that 10 times fast.
02:37 Fine, I will.
02:39 Pumpkin pie spice pancakes, pumpkin pie spice pan cakes,
02:41 pumpkin pie...
02:43 Pumpkin pie spice pancakes, pumpkin pie...
02:44 Whoa! Jewlee.
02:46 Why does is keep happening?
02:52 Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do...
02:55 Do it all to the glory of God.
02:58 Kitchen Fun is up next.
03:23 Hello, and welcome
03:25 to our Kids Camp Fun in the Kitchen.

03:34 Don't you just love being in the kitchen?
03:37 Who loves to be in the kitchen?
03:39 I do!
03:40 Oh, I do too.
03:43 I do too.
03:44 And today, we're gonna have so much fun.
03:47 But before we get started,
03:49 I want you to meet our helpers today.
03:52 So I want you to say your first name
03:55 and where you're from?
03:58 My name's Cate, and I'm from Colorado.
04:00 Very nice.
04:02 My name's Ben, and I'm from Illinois.
04:04 Welcome, Ben.
04:09 My name is Anoah, and I'm from Michigan.
04:11 Welcome.

04:15 Glad you're here.
04:17 My name is Hannah, and I'm from New York.
04:20 Oh, you came from a long way indeed.
04:21 My name is Jasmine, and I'm from New York.
04:24 You both came from a long ways.
04:25 That's awesome. We're so glad you're here.
04:30 My name is Christiana, and I'm from Michigan.
04:35 Awesome. Thank you, Christina.
04:38 My name is Angel, and I'm from Vienna.
04:41 Welcome.
04:44 Okay, who we have here?
04:47 My name is Cadence, and I'm from Michigan.
04:50 Welcome.
04:52 My name is Carter, and I'm from Michigan.
04:54 Welcome.
04:56 Oh, we're so glad, you guys all came.
05:00 Who is ready to cook? Me!
05:04 Who would like to know what we're making?
05:07 Me!
05:10 Look what we're making.
05:13 In fact, I'll put the syrup on later, but look at this.
05:17 These are spinach
05:21 turnip pancakes.
05:23 And we're gonna have spinach gravy on them.
05:27 Isn't that exciting?
05:31 What?
05:33 You don't think you would like that?
05:36 No.
05:37 Well, what do you think
05:39 if they're really pumpkin cinnamon pancakes?
05:43 What do you think of that?
05:45 Is that sound better? Yeah!
05:47 Okay.
05:49 That's what you're making, pumpkin spice pancakes.
05:55 And guess what?
05:56 You're gonna get to taste them.
05:57 Do any of you want to taste them?
05:59 I do. Yes!
06:01 Oh, okay, then let's do that.
06:04 All right, let's get started. Find your lemons.
06:07 And some of you have a lemon juicer
06:11 and some have the little handheld lemon juicers.
06:13 And for today, don't worry about
06:16 trying to write down all the ingredients,
06:18 you can just go online, and you can go
06:22 to 3ABNkidsCamp.tv
06:27 and you can get the recipe, right there.
06:30 And now you'll just watch and learn how to make it.
06:33 We're gonna take two teaspoons of lemon juice
06:37 and we're gonna mix it
06:39 into one cup of our unsweetened almond juice.
06:44 I mean, almond milk. What?
06:48 How many teaspoons, two teaspoons of lemon juice?
06:52 You're going to squeeze lemons.
06:55 And then you're gonna pour it out
06:58 into your teaspoon.
07:02 Okay.
07:03 So take your lemons and start squeezing.
07:07 You got... You have your little bowls.
07:10 Squeeze hard, guys.
07:14 Oh, you're gonna have that muscles.
07:18 Who's got muscles?
07:20 Nobody has muscles.
07:22 Who has muscles?
07:24 Oh, you have muscles, Cadence.
07:28 Oh, Ben's got muscles.
07:31 Oh! Squeeze them both.
07:35 And you're doing an awesome job.
07:37 You guys, getting your lemons all squeezed.
07:42 Two teaspoons.
07:46 Does anyone know how many teaspoons
07:48 is in a tablespoon?
07:51 Anybody?
07:54 Yes, Jasmine. Three.
07:57 Very good.
07:58 Ah, that's awesome.
08:01 Okay, did you get your lemons squeezed?
08:04 Nope. Nope?
08:05 How you doing?
08:08 Good job. Oh, big muscles.
08:12 How's it going over here?
08:15 Okay, now take your...
08:17 Your milk is already measured in your measuring cup.
08:21 See how it's one cup.
08:23 Does anyone know why your milk is in this cup,
08:29 but we have this cup on your tray?
08:33 Okay, Abby.
08:35 It's because this is for measuring liquid
08:37 and this is for measuring of dry ingredients.
08:40 Very good.
08:42 That's awesome, and exactly right.
08:44 So, boys and girls, you have a liquid measuring cup
08:48 and a dry measuring cup.
08:50 And when you're pouring liquid, how do you measure?
08:54 Do you hold your cup up like this
08:55 and pour your liquid in?
08:58 No, you set your cup down and pour your liquid in
09:03 because that way you can make sure,
09:05 boys and girls, that you get it even in level.
09:10 That's right.
09:11 Okay, now you're gonna make sure
09:13 you don't put the seeds in, boys and girls.
09:15 Okay, put your two teaspoons of lemon juice
09:18 into your one cup of milk.
09:23 There you go.
09:24 We'll take your lid off for you.
09:27 There you go. Don't get the seeds in.
09:29 I don't think that would taste good in our pancakes.
09:32 What do you think?
09:35 Anybody think the seeds would be
09:36 good in our pancakes?
09:38 No. No.
09:41 Me either.
09:44 Now make sure you get two level teaspoons, guys,
09:49 you don't want to be short.
09:53 And then take your...
09:55 You can take your teaspoon
09:56 and stir it around in your milk a little bit.
09:59 This will kind of
10:01 give a consistency of buttermilk
10:05 'cause you hear buttermilk pancakes.
10:07 Well, we want to be healthy, so we're doing it vegan.
10:11 And so this way you can make it
10:13 get a little bit more of the consistency
10:15 of buttermilk.
10:17 And now we're gonna let that set aside.
10:20 Okay?
10:21 There you go.
10:24 Actually, we can just put that right on the tray.
10:28 Okay?
10:29 All right, now take your bowls, your big green bowls.
10:36 And we'll put this here for now.
10:39 You're gonna take two and a half cups of flour.
10:44 Now look and see your measurements.
10:48 You can tell by size.
10:50 But before you measure something,
10:53 always make sure
10:55 because what if this was a one-third cup?
10:58 Then you would have the recipe wrong.
11:00 Then I would have the recipe wrong.
11:02 That's right, Cate.
11:03 So you want to always make sure,
11:06 don't ever assume
11:08 that you were given the right measuring cup.
11:11 Okay?
11:12 Always make sure.
11:13 And also make sure you level it off
11:16 and make sure your measuring cups are full
11:19 to the top.
11:21 Then make sure it's full to the top.
11:23 Was this one full to the top too?
11:26 Because make sure it's full to the top.
11:28 And you can always use your scoop,
11:30 your spatula over here
11:31 or one of your spoons to help get it in
11:34 'cause it's a little challenging
11:35 with a little bowl, isn't it?
11:37 Make sure you get it level, boys and girls,
11:40 or you will not have the consistency
11:44 of your pancake batter.
11:46 Okay?
11:47 Everybody got that done?
11:49 Oh, no.
11:50 So how many do you have in there?
11:52 One.
11:53 Okay, so there's your second one.
11:55 Now let's put your third one in.
11:57 So, boys and girls, remember, make your measurements.
12:02 You have to get it exactly right
12:04 if you want a good recipe, okay?
12:07 And there you go. Very good.
12:09 She's leveling it off so nice.
12:13 Very good. That's three?
12:14 Yeah. Okay.
12:16 So now, boys and girls,
12:17 what you want
12:19 is you find your one tablespoon.
12:21 The one tablespoon on your tray.
12:23 Find the one tablespoon.
12:25 It will be a 1 and a T
12:28 and a B and S on it for tablespoon.
12:32 Find your tablespoon.
12:35 Okay?
12:36 And then you're gonna want two tablespoons
12:39 of your baking powder.
12:42 Nope, two, two tablespoons.
12:46 Make sure it's level, guys.
12:49 You know what baking powder is for,
12:52 boys and girls?
12:54 Who knows what baking powder is for?
12:55 Okay.
12:57 Making the food rise.
12:58 Very good.
13:00 I bet you're a good cook.
13:02 I'm gonna come visit you at your house.
13:05 Would you cook for me?
13:07 Okay.
13:09 That's right, boys and girls.
13:10 So if you put a lot of baking powder in
13:14 and you got way too much,
13:15 what do you think your pancakes would do?
13:17 Wow!
13:20 Your pancake would go big, high, wouldn't it?
13:23 Yes.
13:24 Well, maybe not that high.
13:28 Okay, does everybody have their baking powder in?
13:31 I do.
13:33 Now find your teaspoon.
13:35 And I need to...
13:36 You might have to wipe your teaspoons off.
13:39 And let me see I have paper towels too.
13:41 Wipe your teaspoon off with a paper towel.
13:46 Do you need one, Ben?
13:48 Anybody else need a paper towel?
13:51 There you go.
13:54 Paper towel.
13:56 Anybody else need a paper towel?
13:58 Wipe your teaspoon off
14:00 'cause you want to get that lemon juice off.
14:02 And you're gonna do one teaspoon of salt.
14:06 Okay?
14:08 Do you need a paper towel?
14:10 There you go, Angel.
14:12 Good job.
14:14 Make sure again
14:16 you get your measurements level.
14:19 Okay?
14:20 Oh, here's your salt. I'm sorry.
14:22 There you go.
14:23 Wait, do I need this or that?
14:26 Nope.
14:27 Look at your spoon.
14:28 See it says 1 TSP.
14:33 Remember our tablespoon was TBS, this is TSP.
14:38 This is one half.
14:40 Okay? Okay.
14:43 One of them?
14:44 You need one of them.
14:47 You might have to pour it into your teaspoon
14:50 'cause that's kind of little,
14:52 so just kind of pour it in.
14:55 And get it level.
14:58 Good job.
15:03 Yep, you need a little more.
15:06 Do you have...
15:08 Is everybody have that done?
15:09 Yeah!
15:11 How're you doing, Ben?
15:13 Okay. There you go.
15:15 You can pour that in.
15:17 Okay, now find your little bowl of white powder,
15:21 your little tiny bowl.
15:23 And find your one half teaspoon.
15:27 That will be a one with the line and then the two.
15:31 Boys and girls, that's one half teaspoon.
15:34 Okay?
15:35 Put one half teaspoon of your baking soda in.
15:41 Correct.
15:42 Make sure you get it full.
15:44 Make sure it's full, Ben.
15:46 That, that's not quite to the top yet.
15:49 But then you can put all that in there.
15:53 You can just add all of yours.
15:54 Good job.
15:57 Okay?
16:04 You guessed it.
16:07 Okay, does anybody...
16:09 Pick up your dish with your brown spice in it
16:13 and tell me what the spice is?
16:16 You can all say it.
16:17 Cinnamon.
16:19 Doesn't it smell good?
16:22 Now it says that it calls
16:26 for one and a half teaspoons of cinnamon.
16:29 If you like cinnamon, dump it all in.
16:33 If you just want a real mild cinnamon,
16:36 then you can measure it out.
16:38 And you'll need one and a half teaspoons.
16:42 If you just have a half teaspoon,
16:44 how many would that be?
16:47 Nope, you need one and one half teaspoons.
16:50 Three. Very good, Abby.
16:53 Three.
16:55 Uh-huh.
16:56 One.
16:58 You can count out loud if you need to know,
17:02 like if you want to kind remember
17:04 'cause sometimes I'll be measuring
17:07 and I'll go,
17:09 "Oh, no! I can't remember.
17:11 Did I put one in or did I put two in?"
17:15 But sometimes if I count one...
17:19 You only put two.
17:22 Oh, then dump the rest in, just dump the rest in.
17:25 There you go.
17:27 Okay.
17:28 Now we're gonna need...
17:32 Oh, here is cinnamon.
17:33 I'm sorry. I got it mixed up, you guys.
17:36 That was pumpkin pie spice,
17:38 which has cinnamon and cloves and nutmeg in it.
17:41 This is your cinnamon.
17:43 So now you're gonna need,
17:45 but that's okay
17:46 because it's the same amount of measurements.
17:49 So you'll need
17:50 one and a half teaspoons of cinnamon.
17:53 Now here's one
17:55 and then you need your half again.
17:59 There you go.
18:01 You can take your lid all the way off
18:02 and one and a half teaspoons.
18:07 There you go.
18:11 So pumpkin pie spice...
18:13 I can't even talk.
18:15 Now how can you say that fast?
18:16 Can anybody say that fast?
18:18 Pumpkin pie spice.
18:19 Pumpkin pie spice.
18:24 Oh!
18:26 Cadence, you're like Miss Cinda.
18:27 She got it mixed up, didn't she?
18:29 Okay, Cadence, say it real fast for me.
18:31 I can't.
18:32 Pumpkin pie spice, say it real fast.
18:35 Pumpkin pie spice.
18:36 Oh, very good. One more time.
18:38 Pumpkin pie spice.
18:45 Okay, did you get one and a half teaspoon?
18:47 I got one.
18:48 Okay.
18:50 And so then only one of these.
18:56 Okay, does everybody have that?
18:59 Now take your spatulas
19:01 and gently stir that up.
19:06 This is hot, so be careful.
19:09 Gently stir your powder mixture up.
19:15 It's extremely powdery.
19:17 Okay, now make a little hole in the middle.
19:22 Your recipe will usually call this a well.
19:27 They'll say make a little well in the middle of your powder.
19:31 Okay?
19:33 So just make a little...
19:34 Oh, you got to get it all mixed...
19:35 Guys, get it all mixed up.
19:37 That means scrape to the bottom and stir.
19:41 You want me to help you, Ben?
19:42 So look, so when you're stirring,
19:45 let me help you.
19:46 Grab your, grab it like this.
19:49 And go around and then flip it up around
19:53 and flip it up.
19:54 Very good.
19:55 You guys all have it all stirred in?
19:59 Okay.
20:00 Make a well in the middle.
20:02 That means make a little hole in the middle.
20:07 Make a hole in the middle.
20:09 No, no, you can do it with your spatula,
20:12 but the finger works too, Cate.
20:14 Just like that, make a hole.
20:16 So, boys and girls, can you...
20:18 I don't know if you can see that.
20:19 It might not be,
20:20 but we make a little hole in the middle.
20:23 Now you're gonna pour your milk into that hole.
20:28 Then you're going to get your vanilla.
20:35 Yes, pour it all in.
20:36 Pour it all in.
20:38 Then you're gonna get your vanilla.
20:40 And you want
20:42 one and a half teaspoons of pure vanilla.
20:45 That's one teaspoon.
20:46 But this is one and that's a half,
20:48 so you need one of each.
20:51 One of each.
20:55 So everybody have vanilla?
20:57 So, Cate, pour one and a half teaspoons.
21:06 Good job. That's one.
21:08 And now your half.
21:10 Good job.
21:13 Very good.
21:16 You do.
21:18 Cate says she cooks a lot with her grandma.
21:21 Is there anybody cooked a lot with their moms or dads
21:24 or grandmas or aunts and uncles?
21:27 Oh, that's awesome.
21:29 That's awesome.
21:30 Okay, stir that up.
21:31 When you get your vanilla in,
21:33 stir it all up and then add your pumpkin,
21:36 all of your pumpkin.
21:42 And, assistants, you can go ahead
21:44 and turn the electric skillets on.
21:47 And, boys and girls,
21:48 we're working with hot electric skillets,
21:51 so do we do that...
21:54 When we're at home and we want to make pancakes,
21:57 do we work with electric appliances
21:59 by ourselves?
22:00 No. We work with adults.
22:02 That's right.
22:03 You always want to make sure you work with an adult.
22:07 You never want to do it without an adult right by you,
22:10 okay?
22:11 So get it on.
22:13 I am right by you.
22:15 Okay, let's put your pumpkin in when you get it.
22:17 Very good, Ben. You're doing awesome.
22:20 And you know what, Ben,
22:21 I'll turn your electric skillet on for you.
22:25 Okay.
22:26 And we'll move this away 'cause you got this.
22:31 Good job, Ben.
22:32 I'll move you over a little bit like that.
22:36 And I'll get your...
22:41 Yes, put your pumpkin in.
22:46 Here is your spatula, Ben, and here's this.
22:49 Put yours...
22:50 And get it all mixed up.
22:52 And then add your two cups of water.
22:59 Add your two cups of water to this
23:01 and get it all mixed up.
23:04 All of it? Uh-Huh.
23:05 Add all of it. That's two cups.
23:08 Oh, can you get it, Ben?
23:10 I'm sorry, I'll move that away.
23:13 This is getting hot, Ben, so be careful, okay?
23:18 And then when you get it all mixed up,
23:24 then you can start...
23:25 Pardon.
23:26 Are we supposed to put it all in there?
23:28 All, yes, two cups.
23:30 Mix it up.
23:35 You were listening, huh?
23:39 And when you get it all mixed up,
23:41 then you can start putting it in your pan and cooking it.
23:45 And is it hot?
23:47 But you need to take your non-cooking spray,
23:51 your nonstick cooking spray and spray your skillet first.
23:56 Okay.
23:59 How's it look, guys?
24:01 Oh, yours is almost ready.
24:02 Can you get the stuff on the side here?
24:06 Oops!
24:10 There you go.
24:12 I'm gonna put this down here.
24:14 Here's your spatula.
24:16 Just so that.
24:18 There. Okay.
24:21 Hannah, you can help them start cooking theirs.
24:25 How are we doing, girls?
24:26 Okay, you can start cooking yours.
24:29 I'll set this down here for you.
24:34 There you go.
24:36 Here's your spatula.
24:38 There you go. They can start cooking there.
24:40 Be careful, it's hot.
24:43 And here's your spatula, so you can turn them.
24:47 Okay, you guys ready to start cooking yours?
24:50 Let's see, you got it all dumped.
24:52 That's pretty talented, Anoah.
24:55 You are doing a two-handed stir.
24:58 Okay, now put it in the skillet.
25:03 You can make them as little or as big as you want.
25:07 But you're gonna do two,
25:08 so you won't be able to fill the skillet
25:10 unless you're gonna half the pancake.
25:12 Okay, Ben.
25:14 Perfect. You can do that too.
25:16 Absolutely.
25:18 You can make a real big one.
25:19 And you can get yours in too, Cate.
25:21 Here, your skillet is hot.
25:23 Be very careful because it is really hot.
25:26 You want to...
25:28 Here, spray your skillet.
25:30 And you can pour yours into if you want.
25:32 You have...
25:33 Okay, you can use this cup if you want.
25:35 There you go.
25:37 Okay.
25:40 Good job.
25:44 Are you guys having fun yet?
25:46 Yes!
25:49 Okay.
25:52 You want this, do you?
25:56 There you go.
25:57 Or you want a big one or you want a little one?
25:59 Little one? There you go.
26:02 And here's your pancake flicker.
26:05 Boy, Ben, that's a big pancake.
26:09 Move over here.
26:11 You could put some more right here if you want.
26:15 That's a big pancake.
26:18 And when you get your pancakes done,
26:21 we have plates for you to put them on.
26:24 Here, I'll give you half of them.
26:26 That might go better.
26:33 Oh!
26:35 Who loves being in the kitchen?
26:37 Me!
26:40 And who loves pancakes?
26:42 Me!
26:45 Boys and girls, I hope you've had fun today
26:48 because anytime you can be in the kitchen, it's fun.
26:52 Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do,
26:55 do it all to the glory of God.
