Oi, Neto! 00:48 Oi, Oi, Oi. 00:50 It's always good to have Neto by my side. 00:53 And we are excited too to welcome our referees. 00:56 We have three referees 00:58 'cause you guys are just so full of energy 01:01 we need all the help we can get. 01:02 So we got three referees, Emily, Kaylee and Grandma Tina. 01:06 Oh, yeah. 01:08 All right, we are so glad they're a part of the team. 01:11 And we have two amazing teams with us here today. 01:15 The first team, team number one, 01:17 please welcome the Blue Jays! 01:19 All right, 01:21 we had the Blue Jays here today. 01:23 And, Hawks, if you can go a little louder than that. 01:26 And we have today, the second team, the Hawks. 01:30 All right. Very good. 01:33 And you guys are joined together 01:35 by our viewers at home. 01:37 And we're so glad you're part of this as well. 01:39 And so today, Neto, 01:40 we're gonna dive in right into a story, 01:42 and then have a really fast-paced quiz. 01:45 Are we ready? 01:46 I'm so ready. 01:47 Are you ready? Oh, yeah. 01:49 All right. 01:50 Well, today, we're gonna go back 01:51 to the Old Testament, 01:53 where we see the nation of Israel. 01:54 And you know what, boys and girls, 01:56 the nation of Israel had many enemies, 01:58 many, many enemies. 02:00 They often fought against enemies. 02:02 And sometimes the enemies outnumbered Israel 02:05 and they surrounded Israel and gave them a hard time. 02:09 One of these nations were the Midianites. 02:13 The Midianites were these powerful army 02:17 that surrounded Israel, 02:19 and they outnumbered them 02:21 or surrounded them for seven years. 02:26 They attacked them and took everything from them, 02:28 gave them a really hard time. 02:30 Can you imagine seven years. 02:32 It's like older than me. 02:34 Imagine that and Israel, 02:37 Israel came to a point where they said, "God! 02:40 Help us!" 02:42 Let's pretend we're the Israelites. 02:43 How would we have pray? Let's pray to God. 02:45 God! Help us! 02:49 Help us! Right? 02:50 Help us, Lord. Yes! 02:52 And so Israel cried out to God. 02:54 And God heard their cry. 02:56 And God said, 02:58 "All right Israel, I have a plan. 03:01 And I have a man, his name is Gideon." 03:05 Gideon. 03:06 And so God chose Gideon and said, 03:08 "Gideon, I'm gonna use you to fight against the Midianites 03:12 and you're going to, 03:14 you're gonna beat them, 03:17 you're gonna be able to win a battle against them." 03:21 And so and so they, yes. 03:24 And so Gideon said, 03:25 "All right, no problem, God, 03:28 I have strong mean big men 03:32 who are gonna fight with me. 03:34 They're not afraid." 03:35 Really mean. 03:37 Just like Neto. 03:38 But, Neto, you don't look mean. 03:39 Because I'm not. 03:41 No, you're not. You're a good guy. 03:43 You're a nice guy. 03:44 But that was a good sound effect, 03:46 do that again. 03:47 Ooh, that's scary. 03:49 So, Gideon said, "I have my men." 03:53 And so he said, 03:54 "Right men, let's get ready for battle." 03:56 And God said, "Um-huh. 03:59 Gideon, come here, come here, come here, Gideon. 04:02 There's a problem. 04:03 The problem is that there are too many." 04:06 How many were there? 04:07 Thirty-two thousand men. 04:08 That's not too many. 04:10 Too many for God. 04:11 And God said, "No, they're too many, Gideon. 04:13 We got to have a lot less." 04:15 And Gideon said, "Okay." 04:16 And then God said, 04:17 "All right, this what we're gonna do. 04:19 Gideon, I'm gonna give you a sermon to preach. 04:21 And in your sermon, you're gonna preach, 04:23 you're going to say, all right, men, 04:25 whoever is afraid you can go just go home. 04:29 Just go back home." 04:30 Well, okay. 04:32 Neto, where are you going? 04:33 I'm afraid. 04:34 Come on, Neto. You're not afraid. 04:36 We're in the company of some great teams here. 04:38 We can't be afraid. 04:40 Right now, Neto, no. 04:41 So God said, "If you're afraid go home." 04:43 So Gideon said, "Okay." 04:45 So he preached the sermon and guess what? 04:47 You're not gonna believe this. 04:49 How many went home? 04:51 Twenty-two thousand. 04:55 Oh, my goodness. 04:57 I don't wanna get confused. Hold on. 04:59 Are you doing the math, Neto. 05:00 Do the math, Neto. 05:02 Twenty-two thousand go home. 05:03 And Gideon said what... And then how many? 05:05 Twenty-two, you said? 05:06 Twenty-two thousand. 05:07 Hold on, I dropped a zero. 05:09 Don't forget the three zeros, Neto. 05:10 You got three zeros there. 05:12 Three zeros, 10,000. 05:13 Ten thousand left. 05:15 Ten thousand are left. Okay. 05:16 And then God come to Gideon and says, 05:19 "Gideon, come here, come here." 05:21 What do you think God said? 05:24 "There's still too many, too many men." 05:28 And Gideon said, 05:29 "Okay, what do you want me to do now?" 05:31 And God said, "Take them down to the water. 05:34 Take them down to the stream, 05:35 and tell them that they can drink water, 05:39 and I'm going to test them there." 05:42 And so Gideon said, "All right, men, 05:44 before we fight, we got to be hydrated. 05:46 So let's drink plenty of water. 05:48 Let's go down to the waters and get some." 05:50 So they went down to the waters all the way down. 05:53 And Gideon said, "Go ahead and drink men." 05:55 Nine thousand seven hundred of them said, "Water!" 05:59 And they came to the waters 06:01 and they just put their face into the water 06:04 and drank as much water as they could. 06:06 All they could focus on was the water. 06:08 But 300 of them did something different. 06:11 They went down to the water, 06:13 and they kept their eyes fixed on the army of the Midianites. 06:17 And they took that water 06:19 and brought the water up to their mouth, 06:21 while they focused on their goal 06:23 and on their mission. 06:25 And God looked at these two groups, 06:26 and he said, "I got my men." 06:30 Do you think He chose the 9,700 06:34 or the 300? 06:37 The 300! 06:38 Hold down, let me write that down again. 06:39 It's amazing how God works. 06:41 I mean, you would have thought 06:42 that He would have picked the 9000, 06:43 but no, He picked the 300. 06:45 Hold on. Hold on. I'm doing not gonna let that. 06:47 Are you doing the math, Neto? 06:48 Okay. Okay. 06:50 We started with how many men did Joshua start with? 06:53 Thirty-two thousand. 06:55 That is correct. Right. 06:57 32,000. You got that, Neto? 06:58 Do the math. Yeah. 07:00 Then he preached a sermon whoever is afraid just go home. 07:03 And how many went home? 07:05 Twenty-two thousand. 07:06 Twenty-two thousand. 07:07 So, Neto, you subtract 22,000. 07:10 Minus 22,000. 07:12 How many of you left with, Neto? 07:13 Well, I have 10,000 right now. 07:14 Ten thousand. All right. 07:16 So they went down to the waters, 07:18 and some put their face right into the water 07:21 took their eyes off their goal, 07:23 put their face in the water. 07:24 How many of men did that? 07:26 Nine thousand seven hundred. 07:28 They got it, Neto. 07:29 So subtract 9,700. 07:32 That's 300. 07:33 But this is just like 1% of the rest of that. 07:37 It's not enough. 07:38 Can you imagine less than 1% 07:41 from the men that Gideon started with? 07:44 And so God said, "Go fight the Midianites." 07:47 And then they lost. 07:49 Actually, they won. 07:51 Let me tell you how they won. 07:52 Can you believe it. 07:54 They were given a trumpet, 07:55 a jar of clay, and a fire torch. 07:59 That's all they had and that's all they needed. 08:03 They came at night. 08:04 And in a single night, guys, 08:05 they defeated this massive army 08:08 and Israel won the battle. 08:11 Can you imagine? 08:12 That is just an amazing thing 08:14 because God gave them the victory 08:17 'cause there is nothing impossible with God. 08:19 You can do all things when God is by your side, 08:23 there is nothing to be afraid of 08:25 when God fights for you. 08:28 So that was our story today, boys and girls. 08:31 And when we come back from our break, 08:32 we're gonna take a quiz, 08:34 and see how much you remember from this story. 08:36 Will see you soon. |
