00:14 Hello, and welcome to "His Words Are Life."
00:17 I'm Kelly Mowrer, 00:18 and today we're going to read together from Zechariah. 00:21 But let's pray before we start. 00:24 Dear, Heavenly Father, thank You for Your word, 00:28 thank You for the light and the life, 00:31 thank You for the guidance and the wisdom. 00:34 Please, teach us to love and serve You better 00:36 by what we read today in Jesus name, amen. 00:42 We're picking up in Zechariah Chapter 14 and verse 12, 00:46 this is the King James Version. 00:50 "And this shall be the plague 00:51 wherewith the Lord will smite all the people 00:54 that have fought against Jerusalem. 00:56 Their flesh shall consume away 00:59 while they stand upon their feet, 01:00 and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, 01:03 and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth. 01:06 It shall come to pass in that day, 01:09 that a great tumult from the Lord 01:11 shall be among them, and they shall lay hold 01:13 every one on the hand of his neighbour, 01:15 and his hand shall rise up 01:17 against the hand of his neighbour. 01:19 And Judah also shall fight at Jerusalem, 01:22 and the wealth of all the heathen round about 01:24 shall be gathered together, 01:26 gold, and silver, and apparel, in great abundance. 01:30 And so shall be the plague of the horse, 01:33 of the mule, of the camel, 01:34 and of the ass, and of all the beasts 01:37 that shall be in these tents, as this plague. 01:40 And it shall come to pass, 01:42 that every one that is left of all the nations 01:45 which came against Jerusalem 01:47 shall even go up from year to year 01:49 to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, 01:53 and to keep the feast of tabernacles. 01:56 And it shall be, that whoso will not come up 01:59 of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem 02:01 to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, 02:03 even upon them shall be no rain. 02:07 And if the family of Egypt go not up, 02:10 and come not, that have no rain, 02:13 there shall be the plague, wherewith 02:15 the Lord will smithe the heathen that come 02:17 not up to keep the feast of tabernacles. 02:20 This shall be the punishment of Egypt, 02:22 and the punishment of all nations 02:24 that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles. 02:28 In that day shall there be upon the bells of the horses, 02:32 Holiness unto the Lord, 02:34 and the pots in the Lord's house 02:36 shall be like the bowls before the altar. 02:39 Yea, every pot in Jerusalem 02:41 and in Judah shall be holiness unto the Lord of hosts, 02:46 and all they that sacrifice shall come and take of them, 02:50 and seethe therein, and in that day 02:52 there shall be no more the Canaanite 02:54 in the house of the Lord of hosts." 02:58 We're reading now in the Book of Malachi, Chapter 1, 03:01 and this is the King James Version. 03:04 "The burden of the word of the Lord to Israel by Malachi. 03:09 I have loved you, saith the Lord. 03:13 Yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved us? 03:16 Was not Esau Jacob's brother? Saith the Lord, 03:20 yet I loved Jacob, and I hated Esau, 03:21 and laid his mountains and his heritage waste 03:24 for the dragons of the wilderness. 03:26 Whereas Edom saith, We are impoverished, 03:29 but we will return and build the desolate places, 03:32 thus saith the Lord of hosts, 03:34 They shall build, but I will throw down, 03:38 and they shall call them, The border of wickedness, 03:42 and, The people against whom 03:43 the Lord hath indignation for ever. 03:46 And your eyes shall see, and ye shall say, 03:48 The Lord will be magnified from the border of Israel. 03:53 A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master, 03:57 if then I be a father, where is mine honour? 04:01 And if I be a master, where is my fear? 04:04 Saith the Lord of hosts unto you, 04:06 O priests, that despise my name. 04:10 And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name? 04:15 Ye offer polluted bread upon mine altar, 04:17 and ye say, Wherein have we polluted thee? 04:20 In that ye say, The table of the Lord is contemptible. 04:24 And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? 04:28 And if ye offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? 04:33 Offer it now unto thy governor, 04:35 will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? 04:37 Saith the Lord of hosts. 04:40 And now, I pray you, beseech God 04:43 that He will be gracious unto us, 04:46 this hath been by your means, will he regard your persons? 04:51 Saith the Lord of hosts. 04:53 Who is there even among you 04:55 that would shut the doors for nought? 04:58 Neither do ye kindle fire on mine altar for nought. 05:02 I have no pleasure in you, saith the Lord of hosts, 05:05 neither will I accept an offering at your hand. 05:08 For from the rising of the sun 05:11 even unto the going down of the same 05:14 my name shall be great among the Gentiles, 05:18 and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, 05:21 and a pure offering, for my name shall be great 05:25 among the heathen, saith the Lord of hosts. 05:28 But ye have profaned it, in that ye say, 05:31 The table of the Lord is polluted, 05:33 and the fruit thereof, even his meat, is contemptible. 05:37 Ye said also, Behold, what a weariness is it! 05:41 And ye have snuffed at it, saith the Lord of hosts, 05:44 and ye brought that which was torn, 05:46 and the lame, and the sick, 05:48 thus ye brought an offering, 05:49 should I accept this of your hand? Saith the Lord. 05:53 But cursed be the deceiver, 05:55 which hath in his flock a male, and voweth, 05:58 and sacrificeth unto the Lord a corrupt thing, 06:02 for I am a great King, saith the Lord of hosts, 06:05 and my name is dreadful among the heathen." 06:09 Continuing in Malachi Chapter 2, 06:11 this is the King James Version. 06:14 "And now, O ye priests, 06:16 this commandment is for you. 06:18 If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, 06:20 to give glory unto my name, saith the Lord of hosts, 06:23 I will even send a curse upon you, 06:26 and I will curse your blessings, 06:27 yea, I have cursed them already, 06:29 because ye do not lay it to heart. 06:31 Behold, I will corrupt your seed, 06:33 and spread dung upon your faces, 06:35 even the dung of your solemn feasts, 06:37 and one shall take you away with it. 06:39 And ye shall know that I have sent 06:41 this commandment unto you, 06:42 that my covenant might be with Levi, 06:44 saith the Lord of hosts. 06:46 My covenant was with him of life and peace, 06:50 and I gave them to him for the fear 06:52 wherewith he feared me, and was afraid before my name. 06:55 The law of truth was in his mouth, 06:58 and iniquity was not found in his lips, 07:01 he walked with me in peace and equity, 07:04 and did turn many away from iniquity. 07:08 For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, 07:10 and they should seek the law at his mouth, 07:13 for he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts. 07:17 But ye are departed out of the way, 07:19 ye have caused many to stumble at the law, 07:22 ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, 07:24 saith the Lord of hosts. 07:26 Therefore have I also made you contemptible 07:29 and base before all the people, 07:32 according as ye have not kept my ways, 07:34 but have been partial in the law? 07:37 Have we not all one father? 07:39 Hath not one God created us? 07:42 Why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, 07:46 by profaning the covenant of our fathers? 07:50 Judah hath dealt treacherously, 07:52 and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem, 07:55 for Judah hath profaned the holiness of the Lord 07:59 which he loved, and hath married 08:01 the daughter of a strange god. 08:03 The Lord will cut off the man that doeth this, 08:06 the master and the scholar, 08:08 out of the tabernacles of Jacob, 08:10 and him that offereth an offering 08:11 unto the Lord of hosts. 08:13 And this have ye done again, 08:15 covering the altar of the Lord with tears, 08:17 with weeping, and with crying out, 08:19 insomuch that he regardeth not the offering any more, 08:22 or receiveth it with good will at your hand. 08:25 Yet ye say, Wherefore? 08:29 Because the Lord hath been witness 08:30 between thee and the wife of thy youth, 08:32 against whom thou hast dealt treacherously, 08:35 yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant. 08:39 And did not he make one? 08:42 Yet had he the residue of the spirit. 08:44 And wherefore one? 08:46 That he might seek a godly seed. 08:49 Therefore take heed to your spirit, 08:51 and let none deal treacherously 08:54 against the wife of his youth. 08:56 For the Lord, the God of Israel, 08:58 saith that he hateth putting away, 09:02 for one covereth violence with his garment, 09:04 saith the Lord of hosts, 09:05 therefore take heed to your spirit, 09:08 that ye deal not treacherously. 09:11 Ye have wearied the Lord with your words. 09:14 Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied him? 09:19 When ye say, Every one that doeth evil 09:21 is good in the sight of the Lord, 09:23 and he delighteth in them, 09:24 or, Where is the God of judgment?" 09:28 Continuing in Malachi Chapter 3, 09:30 and this is the King James Version. 09:33 "Behold, I will send my messenger, 09:36 and he shall prepare the way before me, 09:39 and the Lord, whom ye seek, 09:41 shall suddenly come to his temple, 09:43 even the messenger of the covenant, 09:45 whom ye delight in, behold, he shall come, 09:49 saith the Lord of hosts. 09:51 But who may abide the day of his coming? 09:54 And who shall stand when he appeareth? 09:55 For he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap, 10:00 And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, 10:04 and he shall purify the sons of Levi, 10:06 and purge them as gold and silver, 10:09 that they may offer unto the Lord 10:11 an offering in righteousness. 10:14 Then shall the offering of Judah 10:17 and Jerusalem be pleasant unto the Lord, 10:19 as in the days of old, and as in former years. 10:23 And I will come near to you to judgment, 10:26 and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, 10:29 and against the adulterers, 10:30 and against false swearers, 10:32 and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, 10:36 the widow, and the fatherless, 10:38 and that turn aside the stranger from his right, 10:41 and fear not me, saith the Lord of hosts. 10:44 For I am the Lord, I change not, 10:47 therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. 10:50 Even from the days of your fathers 10:52 ye are gone away from mine ordinances, 10:55 and have not kept them. 10:56 Return unto me, and I will return unto you, 10:59 saith the Lord of hosts. 11:01 But ye said, Wherein shall we return? 11:05 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. 11:09 But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? 11:11 In tithes and offerings. 11:14 Ye are cursed with a curse, for ye have robbed me, 11:16 even this whole nation. 11:18 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, 11:20 that there may be meat in mine house, 11:22 and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, 11:25 if I will not open you the windows of heaven, 11:28 and pour you out a blessing, 11:29 that there shall not be room enough to receive it. 11:33 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, 11:35 and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground, 11:38 neither shall your vine cast her fruit 11:41 before the time in the field, 11:42 saith the Lord of hosts. 11:44 And all nations shall call you blessed, 11:47 for ye shall be a delightsome land, 11:49 saith the Lord of hosts. 11:51 Your words have been stout against me, saith the Lord. 11:54 Yet ye say, What have we spoken so much against thee? 11:58 Ye have said, It is vain to serve God, 12:01 and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, 12:03 and that we have walked mournfully 12:05 before the Lord of hosts? 12:07 And now we call the proud happy, 12:10 yea, they that work wickedness are set up, 12:13 yea, they that tempt God are even delivered. 12:16 Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another, 12:20 and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, 12:22 and a book of remembrance was written before him 12:26 for them that feared the Lord, 12:27 and that thought upon his name. 12:30 And they shall be mine, 12:31 saith the Lord of hosts, 12:33 in that day when I make up my jewels, 12:36 and I will spare them, 12:38 as a man spareth his own son that serveth him. 12:42 Then shall ye return, and discern 12:44 between the righteous and the wicked, 12:46 between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not." 12:52 Continuing in Malachi Chapter 4, 12:55 this is the King James Version. 12:58 "For, behold, the day cometh, 13:00 that shall burn as an oven, and all the proud, 13:04 yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble, 13:08 and the day that cometh shall burn them up, 13:11 saith the Lord of hosts, 13:12 that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. 13:16 But unto you that fear my name 13:18 shall the Sun of righteousness 13:20 arise with healing in his wings, 13:23 and ye shall go forth, 13:25 and grow up as calves of the stall. 13:28 And ye shall tread down the wicked, 13:31 for they shall be ashes under the soles 13:33 of your feet in the day that I shall do this, 13:36 saith the Lord of hosts. 13:38 Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, 13:41 which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, 13:45 with the statutes and judgments. 13:48 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet 13:51 before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord, 13:56 And he shall turn the heart 13:58 of the fathers to the children, 14:00 and the heart of the children to their fathers, 14:03 lest I come and smite the earth with a curse." 14:09 In the last few moments of our time together here, 14:12 turn with me to Psalm 23. 14:14 We'll pick up next time in the Book of Matthew. 14:18 But let's close out just reading 14:19 the last few verses of Psalm 23, beginning in verse 4. 14:26 "Yea, though I walk through 14:28 the valley of the shadow of death, 14:29 I will fear no evil, for thou art with me; 14:32 thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 14:36 Thou preparest a table before me 14:38 in the presence of mine enemies, 14:40 thou anointest my head with oil, my cup runneth over. 14:44 Surely goodness and mercy will follow me 14:46 all the days of my life, 14:48 and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. |
