00:14 Hello and welcome to "His Words Are Life."
00:16 I am Kelly Mowrer and today we will be reading 00:18 together in the Book of Haggai. 00:20 But let's pray before we start. 00:23 Dear Heavenly Father, thank you again 00:25 for all of Your blessings to us. 00:28 For Your mercy and for Your grace and for Your love. 00:31 Please teach us how to love you better 00:33 in the words that we read today, 00:36 in the name of Jesus, amen. 00:38 We're reading in the book of Haggai Chapter 2 00:42 picking up with verse 10, 00:45 and this is the King James Version. 00:48 "In the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, 00:51 in the second year of Darius, 00:53 came the word of the Lord by Haggai the prophet, 00:55 saying, thus saith the Lord of hosts, 00:58 ask now the priests concerning the law, saying, 01:01 if one bear holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, 01:05 and with his skirt do touch bread, or pottage, 01:08 or wine, or oil, or any meat shall it be holy? 01:14 and the priests answered and said, no. 01:17 Then said Haggai, if one that is unclean by a dead body 01:21 touch any of these, shall it be unclean? 01:25 and the priests answered and said, It shall be unclean. 01:30 Then answered Haggai, and said, 01:32 so is this people, and so is this nation before me, 01:35 saith the Lord, 01:37 and so is every work of their hands, 01:39 and that which they offer there is unclean. 01:44 And now, I pray you, consider from this day and upward 01:48 from before a stone was laid upon a stone 01:51 in the temple of the Lord. 01:52 Since those days were, when one came to an heap 01:55 of twenty measures, there were but ten, 01:58 when one came to the pressfat for to draw out 02:01 fifty vessels out of the press, 02:04 there were but twenty. 02:06 I smote you with blasting and with mildew 02:08 and with hail in all the labours of your hands, 02:11 yet ye turned not to me, saith the Lord. 02:15 Consider now from this day and upward, 02:19 from the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, 02:22 even from the day that the foundation 02:25 of the Lord's temple was laid, consider it. 02:29 Is the seed yet in the barn? 02:32 Yea, as yet the vine, and the fig tree, 02:35 and the pomegranate, and the olive tree, 02:37 hath not brought forth, 02:39 from this day will I bless you. 02:43 And again the word of the Lord came unto Haggai 02:45 in the four and twentieth day of the month, saying, 02:48 speak to Zerubbabel, Governor of Judah, 02:50 saying, I will shake the heavens and the earth, 02:53 that I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, 02:56 and I will destroy the strength 02:58 of the kingdoms of the heathen, 02:59 and I will overthrow the chariots, 03:02 and those that ride in them, 03:03 and the horses and their riders shall come down, 03:06 every one by the sword of his brother. 03:09 In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, 03:12 will I take thee, O Zerubbabel, my servant, 03:14 the son of Shealtiel, Saith the Lord, 03:17 and will make thee as a signet, 03:20 for I have chosen thee, saith the Lord of hosts." 03:27 Continuing now in the Book of Zechariah 03:29 Chapter 1, this is the King James Version. 03:33 "In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, 03:36 came the word of the Lord unto Zechariah, 03:39 the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, 03:43 saying, the Lord hath been sore displeased with your fathers. 03:48 Therefore say thou unto them, 03:50 thus saith the Lord of hosts, 03:52 turn ye unto me, saith the Lord of hosts, 03:55 and I will turn unto you, saith the Lord of hosts. 03:59 Be ye not as your fathers, 04:01 unto whom the former prophets have cried 04:04 saying, thus saith the Lord of host, 04:06 turn ye now from your evil ways, 04:08 and from your evil doings, but they did not hear, 04:11 nor hearken unto me, saith the Lord. 04:15 Your fathers, where are they? 04:18 And the prophets, do they live for ever? 04:21 But my words and my statutes, 04:24 which I commanded my servants the prophets, 04:26 Did they not take hold of your fathers? 04:29 And they returned and said, like as the Lord of hosts 04:32 thought to do unto us, according to our ways, 04:34 and according to our doings, so hath he dealt with us. 04:39 Upon the four and twentieth day of the eleventh month, 04:42 which is the month Sebat, in the second year of Darius, 04:46 came the word of the Lord unto Zechariah, 04:49 the son of Berechiah, 04:50 the son of Iddo the prophet, saying. 04:53 I saw by night, and behold a man riding upon a red horse, 04:59 and he stood among the myrtle trees 05:01 that were in the bottom and behind him 05:03 were there red horses speckled and white. 05:07 Then said I, oh, my Lord, what are these? 05:11 And the angel that talked with me said unto me, 05:14 I'll show thee what these be? 05:17 And the man that stood among the myrtle trees 05:19 answered and said these are they whom the Lord had said 05:24 to walk to and fro through the earth. 05:28 And they answered the angels of the Lord 05:29 that stood among the myrtle trees and said, 05:31 we have walked to and fro through the earth 05:34 and behold all the earth sitteth still and is at rest. 05:40 Then the angel the Lord answered and said, 05:41 oh, Lord of hosts how long with thou not have mercy 05:45 on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah 05:47 against which thou hast had indignation 05:50 these three scores in 10 years. 05:53 And the Lord answered the angel that talked with me 05:56 with good words and comfortable words. 05:59 So the angel that communed with me, 06:01 said unto to me cry thou, saying, 06:04 thus saith the Lord of hosts, I am jealous for Jerusalem 06:08 and for Zion with a great jealousy. 06:11 And I am very sore displeased 06:13 with the heathen that are at ease 06:15 for I was but a little displeased, 06:17 and they helped forward the affliction. 06:21 Therefore thus saith the Lord, 06:23 I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies 06:26 my house shall be built in it, saith the Lord of hosts, 06:30 and a line shall be stretched forth upon Jerusalem. 06:33 Cry yet, saying, thus saith the Lord of hosts, 06:36 My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad 06:41 and the Lord shall yet comfort Zion, 06:44 and shall yet choose Jerusalem. 06:48 Then lifted I up mine eyes, 06:50 and saw, and behold four horns. 06:54 And I said unto the angel that talked with me, 06:57 what be these? And he answered me, 07:00 these are the horns which have scattered 07:02 Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem. 07:05 And the Lord showed me four carpenters. 07:08 Then said I, what come these to do? 07:12 And he spake, saying, these are the horns 07:15 which have scattered Judah, 07:17 so that no man did lift up his head, 07:20 but these are come to fray them, 07:22 to cast out the horns of the Gentiles, 07:24 which lifted up their horn 07:26 over the land of Judah to scatter." 07:30 Continuing in Zechariah Chapter 2, 07:33 and this is the King James Version. 07:36 "I lifted up mine eyes again, and looked, 07:39 and behold a man with a measuring line in his hand. 07:42 Then said I, whither goest thou? 07:45 And he said unto me, to measure Jerusalem, 07:48 to see what is the breadth thereof, 07:49 and what is the length thereof. 07:52 Behold, the angel that talked with me went forth, 07:55 and another angel went out to meet him. 07:56 And said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, 07:59 saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited 08:02 as towns without walls for the multitude of men 08:05 and cattle therein, for I, saith the Lord, 08:08 will be unto her a wall of fire round about, 08:13 and will be the glory in the midst of her. 08:17 Ho, ho, come forth, and flee from the land of the north, 08:21 saith the Lord for I have spread you abroad 08:24 as the four winds of the heaven, saith the Lord. 08:27 Deliver thyself, O Zion, 08:28 that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon. 08:31 For thus saith the Lord of hosts, 08:33 after the glory hath he sent me 08:35 unto the nations which spoiled you 08:37 for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye. 08:43 For, behold, I will shake mine hand upon them, 08:46 and they shall be a spoil to their servants. 08:49 And ye shall know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me. 08:54 Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion, 08:57 for lo, I come, and I will dwell 09:00 in the midst of thee, saith the Lord. 09:02 And many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day 09:06 and shall be my people 09:08 and I will dwell in the midst of thee, 09:09 and thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts 09:12 hath sent me unto thee. 09:14 And the Lord shall inherit 09:16 Judah his portion in the holy land, 09:18 and shall choose Jerusalem again. 09:21 Be silent, O all flesh, before the Lord 09:25 for he is raised up out of his holy habitation." 09:30 Continuing in Zechariah Chapter 3, 09:33 and this is the King James Version. 09:36 "And he showed me Joshua the high priest 09:38 standing before the angel of the Lord, 09:41 and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him. 09:46 And the Lord said unto Satan, the Lord rebuke thee, O Satan 09:51 even the Lord that hath chosen Jerusalem 09:54 rebuke thee is not this a brand 09:58 plucked out of the fire? 10:01 Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, 10:04 and stood before the angel. 10:06 And he answered and spake unto those 10:08 that stood before him, saying, 10:10 take away the filthy garments from him. 10:12 And unto him he said, behold, 10:14 I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, 10:19 and I will clothe thee with change of raiment. 10:23 And I said, let them set a fair mitre upon his head. 10:26 So they set a fair mitre upon his head, 10:28 and clothed him with garments. 10:30 And the angel of the Lord stood by. 10:33 And the angel of the Lord protested unto Joshua, 10:36 saying, thus saith the Lord of hosts, 10:39 If thou wilt walk in my ways, 10:42 and if thou wilt keep my charge, 10:44 then thou shalt also judge my house, 10:47 and shalt also keep my courts, 10:49 and I will give thee places to walk 10:51 among these that stand by. 10:55 Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, 10:57 thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee 11:02 for they are men wondered at for behold, 11:05 I will bring forth my servant the branch. 11:10 For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua, 11:13 upon one stone shall be seven eyes behold, 11:17 I will engrave the graving thereof, 11:20 saith the Lord of hosts, 11:22 and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day. 11:26 In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, 11:28 shall ye call every man his neighbour 11:30 under the vine and under the fig tree." 11:34 Continuing with Zechariah Chapter 4, 11:37 and this is the King James Version. 11:40 "And the angel that talked with me came again, 11:43 and waked me, as a man that is wakened out of his sleep. 11:47 And said unto me, what seest thou? 11:51 And I said, I have looked, and behold a candlestick 11:55 all of gold, with a bowl upon the top of it, 11:59 and his seven lamps thereon, and seven pipes 12:02 to the seven lamps which are upon the top thereof. 12:06 And two olive trees by it, 12:08 one upon the right side of the bowl, 12:10 and the other upon the left side thereof. 12:13 So I answered and spake to the angel 12:15 that talked with me, saying, what are these, my Lord? 12:19 Then the angel that talked with me answered 12:21 and said unto me, knowest thou not what these be? 12:26 And I said, no, my Lord. 12:29 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, 12:32 this is the Word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, 12:36 not by might, nor by power, 12:40 but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts. 12:44 Who art thou, O great mountain? 12:47 Before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain 12:50 and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof 12:53 with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it. 12:59 Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, 13:02 the hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation 13:04 of this house, his hands shall also finish it, 13:09 and thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts 13:12 hath sent me unto you. 13:14 For who hath despised the day of small things? 13:18 For they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet 13:21 in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven, 13:24 they are the eyes of the Lord, which run to and fro 13:28 through the whole earth. 13:30 Then answered I, and said unto him, 13:32 what are these two olive trees upon the right side 13:35 of the candlestick and upon the left side thereof? 13:39 And I answered again, and said unto him, 13:40 what be these two olive branches 13:43 which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil 13:47 out of themselves? 13:49 And he answered me and said, 13:51 knowest thou not what these be? 13:53 and I said, no, my Lord. 13:56 Then said he, these are the two anointed ones, 14:00 that stand by the Lord of the whole earth." 14:04 Continuing in Zechariah Chapter 5. 14:07 "Then I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, 14:10 and looked, and behold a flying roll. 14:14 And he said unto me, what seest thou? 14:17 And I answered, I see a flying roll, 14:21 the length thereof is twenty cubits, 14:23 and the breadth thereof ten cubits. 14:26 Then said he unto me, this is the curse 14:29 that goeth forth over the face of the whole earth, 14:32 for every one that stealeth shall be cut off 14:34 as on this side according to it." 14:38 Goodbye. |
