00:15 Hello and welcome to "His Words Are Life."
00:18 I am Kelly Mowrer and today 00:20 we will be reading together 00:21 from the Book of Micah, but first let's pray. 00:24 Dear Heavenly Father, thank you that 00:27 You have given us a guide book, 00:31 a road map, a light for our path. 00:35 Please be with us now as we read 00:38 and help us learn to love You and serve You better. 00:43 Thank you for loving us 00:44 and I pray in the name of Jesus, amen. 00:47 Picking up in the Book of Micah, Chapter 6, verse 3, 00:52 and God is speaking to his people. 00:56 "O my people, what have I done unto thee? 00:59 And wherein have I wearied thee? 01:02 Testify against me. 01:04 For I brought thee up out of the land of Egypt, 01:06 and redeemed thee out of the house of servants, 01:09 and I sent before thee Moses, Aaron, and Miriam. 01:14 O my people, remember now what 01:17 Balak king of Moab consulted, 01:20 and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him 01:24 from Shittim unto Gilgal, 01:26 that ye may know the righteousness of the Lord. 01:31 Wherewith shall I come before the Lord, 01:33 and bow myself before the high God? 01:37 Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, 01:40 with calves of a year old? 01:43 Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, 01:46 or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? 01:49 Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, 01:52 the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? 01:58 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good, 02:01 and what doth the Lord require of thee, 02:04 but to do justly, and to love mercy, 02:08 and to walk humbly with thy God? 02:11 The Lord's voice crieth unto the city, 02:14 and the man of wisdom shall see thy name, 02:18 hear ye the rod, and who hath appointed it. 02:22 Are there yet the treasures of wickedness 02:24 in the house of the wicked, 02:26 and the scant measure that is abominable? 02:30 Shall I count them pure with the wicked balances, 02:33 and with the bag of deceitful weights? 02:36 For the rich men thereof are full of violence, 02:38 and the inhabitants thereof have spoken lies, 02:41 and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth. 02:44 Therefore also will I make thee sick in smiting thee, 02:48 in making thee desolate because of thy sins. 02:53 Thou shalt eat, but not be satisfied, 02:56 and thy casting down shall be in the midst of thee, 02:59 and thou shalt take hold, but shalt not deliver, 03:02 and that which thou deliverest will I give up to the sword. 03:06 Thou shalt sow, but thou shalt not reap, 03:10 thou shalt tread the olives, 03:12 but thou shalt not anoint thee with oil, 03:14 and sweet wine, but shalt not drink wine. 03:18 For the statutes of Omri are kept, 03:20 and all the works of the house of Ahab, 03:22 and ye walk in their counsels, 03:24 that I should make thee a desolation, 03:27 and the inhabitants thereof an hissing, 03:29 therefore ye shall bear the reproach of my people." 03:35 Continuing in Micah, Chapter 7. 03:38 This is the King James Version. 03:41 "Woe is me! 03:42 For I am as when they have gathered the summer fruits, 03:47 as the grape gleanings of the vintage, 03:49 there is no cluster to eat, 03:52 my soul desired the firstripe fruit. 03:55 The good man is perished out of the earth, 03:57 and there is none upright among men, 03:59 they all lie in wait for blood, 04:01 they hunt every man his brother with a net. 04:04 That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, 04:08 the prince asketh, and the judge asketh 04:11 for a reward, and the great man, 04:12 he uttereth his mischievous desire, so they wrap it up. 04:17 The best of them is as a brier, 04:20 the most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge, 04:23 the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation cometh, 04:27 now shall be their perplexity. 04:30 Trust ye not in a friend, 04:32 put ye not confidence in a guide, 04:35 keep the doors of thy mouth 04:37 from her that lieth in thy bosom. 04:40 For the son dishonoureth the father, 04:42 the daughter riseth up against her mother, 04:45 the daughter in law against her mother in law, 04:49 a man's enemies are the men of his own house. 04:53 Therefore I will look unto the Lord, 04:56 I will wait for the God of my salvation, 04:59 my God will hear me. 05:01 Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy, 05:05 when I fall, I shall arise, when I sit in darkness, 05:09 the Lord shall be a light unto me. 05:13 I will bear the indignation of the Lord, 05:15 because I have sinned against him, 05:18 until he plead my cause, and execute judgment for me, 05:23 he will bring me forth to the light, 05:26 and I shall behold his righteousness. 05:30 Then she that is mine enemy shall see it, 05:33 and shame shall cover her which said unto me, 05:36 Where is the Lord thy God? 05:39 Mine eyes shall behold her, now shall she be trodden down 05:45 as the mire of the streets. 05:47 In the day that thy walls are to be built, 05:51 in that day shall the decree be far removed. 05:55 In that day also he shall come 05:57 even to thee from Assyria, 05:59 and from the fortified cities, 06:00 and from the fortress even to the river, 06:02 and from sea to sea, and from mountain to mountain. 06:07 Not withstanding the land shall be desolate 06:09 because of them that dwell therein, 06:11 for the fruit of their doings. 06:14 Feed thy people with thy rod, the flock of thine heritage, 06:18 which dwell solitarily in the wood, 06:20 in the midst of Carmel, 06:22 let them feed in Bashan and Gilead, 06:25 as in the days of old. 06:27 According to the days of thy 06:29 coming out of the land of Egypt 06:31 will I shew unto him marvellous things. 06:34 The nations shall see and be confounded 06:37 at all their might, 06:39 they shall lay their hand upon their mouth, 06:42 their ears shall be deaf. 06:44 They shall lick the dust like a serpent, 06:47 they shall move out of their holes 06:49 like worms of the earth, 06:51 they shall be afraid of the Lord our God, 06:53 and shall fear because of thee. 06:55 Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, 07:01 and passeth by the transgression 07:03 of the remnant of his heritage? 07:05 He retaineth not his anger for ever, 07:09 because he delighteth in mercy. 07:12 He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us, 07:16 he will subdue our iniquities, 07:18 and thou wilt cast all their sins 07:21 into the depths of the sea. 07:24 Thou wilt perform the truth to Jacob, 07:27 and the mercy to Abraham, 07:29 which thou hast sworn unto 07:31 our fathers from the days of old." 07:36 Continuing now in the Book of Nahum, Chapter 1. 07:39 And this is the King James Version. 07:43 "The burden of Nineveh. 07:45 The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite. 07:50 God is jealous, and the Lord revengeth, 07:54 the Lord revengeth, and is furious, 07:55 the Lord will take vengeance on his adversaries, 07:59 and he reserveth wrath for his enemies. 08:03 The Lord is slow to anger, and great in power, 08:08 and will not at all acquit the wicked, 08:12 the Lord hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, 08:16 and the clouds are the dust of his feet. 08:19 He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, 08:22 and drieth up all the rivers, Bashan languisheth, 08:27 and Carmel, and the flower of Lebanon languisheth. 08:31 The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, 08:34 and the earth is burned at his presence, 08:36 yea, the world, and all that dwell therein. 08:41 Who can stand before his indignation? 08:44 And who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? 08:48 His fury is poured out like fire, 08:51 and the rocks are thrown down by him. 08:54 The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble, 08:58 and he knoweth them that trust in him. 09:02 But with an overrunning flood he will make 09:04 an utter end of the place thereof, 09:07 and darkness shall pursue his enemies. 09:11 What do ye imagine against the Lord? 09:14 He will make an utter end, 09:16 affliction shall not rise up the second time. 09:20 For while they be folden together as thorns, 09:22 and while they are drunken as drunkards, 09:25 they shall be devoured as stubble fully dry. 09:29 There is one come out of thee, 09:31 that imagineth evil against the Lord, a wicked counselor. 09:36 Thus saith the Lord, Though they be quiet, 09:39 and likewise many, yet thus shall they be cut down, 09:44 when he shall pass through. 09:47 Though I have afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more. 09:52 For now will I break his yoke from off thee, 09:54 and will burst thy bonds in sunder. 09:57 And the Lord hath given a commandment concerning thee, 10:01 that no more of thy name be sown, 10:04 out of the house of thy gods will I cut off 10:07 the graven image and the molten image, 10:10 I will make thy grave, for thou art vile. 10:13 Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that 10:17 bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace! 10:21 O Judah, keep thy solemn feasts, perform thy vows, 10:26 for the wicked shall no more pass through thee, 10:29 he is utterly cut off." 10:32 Continuing in the Book of Nahum, Chapter 2. 10:35 And this is the King James Version. 10:38 "He that dasheth in pieces is come up 10:41 before thy face, keep the munition, 10:44 watch the way, make thy loins strong, 10:47 fortify thy power mightily. 10:49 For the Lord hath turned away the excellency of Jacob, 10:53 as the excellency of Israel, 10:56 for the emptiers have emptied them out, 10:59 and marred their vine branches. 11:01 The shield of his mighty men is made red, 11:05 the valiant men are in scarlet, 11:07 the chariots shall be with flaming torches in the day 11:10 of his preparation, and the fir trees 11:13 shall be terribly shaken. 11:15 The chariots shall rage in the streets, 11:17 they shall justle one against another in the broad ways, 11:20 they shall seem like torches, 11:22 they shall run like the lightnings. 11:24 He shall recount his worthies, 11:26 they shall stumble in their walk, 11:29 they shall make haste to the wall thereof, 11:30 and the defence shall be prepared. 11:33 The gates of the rivers shall be opened, 11:36 and the palace shall be dissolved. 11:39 And Huzzab shall be led away captive, 11:41 she shall be brought up, and her maids shall lead her 11:44 as with the voice of doves, tabering upon their breasts. 11:49 But Nineveh is of old like a pool of water, 11:51 yet they shall flee away. 11:53 Stand, stand, shall they cry, but none shall look back. 12:00 Take ye the spoil of silver, take the spoil of gold, 12:03 for there is none end of the store and glory 12:06 out of all the pleasant furniture. 12:09 She is empty, and void, and waste, 12:12 and the heart melteth, and the knees smite together, 12:16 and much pain is in all loins, 12:18 and the faces of them all gather blackness. 12:22 Where is the dwelling of the lions, 12:25 and the feeding place of the young lions, 12:27 where the lion, even the old lion, 12:29 walked, and the lion's whelp, and none made them afraid? 12:33 The lion did tear in pieces enough for his whelps, 12:36 and strangled for his lionesses, 12:38 and filled his holes with prey, 12:40 and his dens with ravin. 12:43 Behold, I am against thee, saith the Lord of hosts, 12:46 and I will burn her chariots in the smoke, 12:49 and the sword shall devour thy young lions, 12:53 and I will cut off thy prey from the earth, 12:56 and the voice of thy messengers 12:58 shall no more be heard." 13:01 Continuing in Nahum Chapter 3. 13:04 And this is the King James Version. 13:07 "Woe to the bloody city! 13:09 It is all full of lies and robbery, 13:13 the prey departeth not, The noise of a whip, 13:17 and the noise of the rattling of the wheels, 13:19 and of the pransing horses, and of the jumping chariots. 13:23 The horseman lifteth up both the bright sword 13:26 and the glittering spear, 13:27 and there is a multitude of slain, 13:30 and a great number of carcases, 13:32 and there is none end of their corpses, 13:34 they stumble upon their corpses. 13:37 Because of the multitude of the whoredoms 13:40 of the well favored harlot, the mistress of witchcrafts, 13:44 that selleth nations through her whoredoms, 13:47 and families through her witchcrafts. 13:50 Behold, I am against thee, saith the Lord of hosts, 13:53 and I will discover thy skirts upon thy face, 13:56 and I will shew the nations thy nakedness, 13:59 and the kingdoms thy shame. 14:02 And I will cast abominable filth upon thee, 14:04 and make thee vile, and will set thee as a gazing stock. 14:09 And it shall come to pass, 14:11 that all they that look upon thee shall flee from thee, 14:15 and say, Nineveh is laid waste, who will be moan her? 14:20 Whence shall I seek comforters for thee? 14:23 Art thou better than populous No, 14:26 that was situate among the rivers, 14:28 that had the waters round about it, 14:29 whose rampart was the sea, 14:31 and her wall was from the sea? 14:34 Ethiopia and Egypt were her strength, 14:37 and it was infinite, 14:38 Put and Lubim were thy helpers. 14:41 Yet was she carried away, she went into captivity." |
