00:15 Hello and welcome to His Words Are Life.
00:18 I'm Kelly Mowrer and today 00:19 we'll be reading together from the book of Hosea. 00:22 But lets pray before we start. 00:25 Dear heavenly father, 00:27 we want to come part now and be still 00:29 and know the you are the God of universe 00:33 and the God of our lives, 00:35 please send your holy Spirit to be with us now as we read, 00:39 in the Name of Jesus. Amen. 00:42 Reading from the book of Hosea, 00:43 chapter 8 and beginning with verse 13 00:47 and this is the King James Version. 00:51 They sacrifice flesh for the sacrifices 00:54 of mine offerings, and eat it, 00:56 but the Lord accepteth them not, 00:59 now will he remember their iniquity, 01:01 and visit their sins. 01:03 they shall return to Egypt. 01:05 For Israel hath forgotten his Maker, 01:09 and buildeth temples, 01:11 and Judah hath multiplied fenced cities. 01:14 But I will send a fire upon his cities, 01:17 and it shall devour the palaces thereof. 01:22 Continuing with Hosea, Chapter 9. 01:25 Rejoice not, O Israel, 01:27 for joy, as other people, 01:30 for thou hast gone a whoring from thy God, 01:33 thou hast loved a reward upon every cornfloor. 01:37 The floor and the winepress shall not feed them, 01:40 and the new wine shall fail in her. 01:43 They shall not dwell in the Lord's land, 01:45 but Ephraim shall return to Egypt, 01:47 and they shall eat unclean things in Assyria. 01:50 They shall not offer wine offerings to the Lord, 01:52 neither shall they be pleasing unto him, 01:55 their sacrifices shall be unto them 01:57 as the bread of mourners; 02:00 all that eat thereof shall be polluted, 02:03 for their bread for their soul 02:05 shall not come into the house of the Lord. 02:08 What will ye do in the solemn day, 02:10 and in the day of the feast of the Lord? 02:13 For, lo, they are gone because of destruction. 02:17 Egypt shall gather them up, 02:18 Memphis shall bury them, 02:20 the pleasant places for their silver, 02:22 nettles shall possess them, 02:25 thorns shall be in their tabernacles. 02:28 The days of visitation are come, 02:30 the days of recompence are come. 02:32 Israel shall know it. 02:34 The prophet is a fool, 02:36 the spiritual man is mad, 02:38 for the multitude of thine iniquity, 02:39 and the great hatred. 02:41 The watchman of Ephraim was with my God. 02:45 But the prophet is a snare of a fowler in all his ways, 02:48 and hatred in the house of his God. 02:50 They have deeply corrupted themselves, 02:53 as in the days of Gibeah. 02:55 Therefore he will remember their iniquity, 02:57 he will visit their sins. 03:00 I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness, 03:03 I saw your fathers as the firstripe 03:05 in the fig tree at her first time. 03:08 But they went to Baalpeor, 03:10 and separated themselves unto that shame, 03:13 and their abominations were according as they loved. 03:16 As for Ephraim, their glory shall fly away like a bird, 03:19 from the birth, and from the womb, 03:21 and from the conception. 03:23 Though they bring up their children, 03:24 yet will I bereave them, 03:26 and there shall not be a man left. 03:28 Yea, woe also to them when I depart from them. 03:33 Ephraim, as I saw Tyrus, 03:36 is planted in a pleasant place. 03:38 But Ephraim shall bring forth his children to the murderer. 03:43 Give them, O Lord. 03:44 What wilt thou give? 03:46 give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts. 03:50 All their wickedness is in Gilgal, 03:53 for there I hated them, 03:55 for the wickedness of their doings 03:56 I will drive them out of mine house, 03:58 I will love them no more, 04:00 all their princes are revolters. 04:03 Ephraim is smitten, their root is dried up, 04:06 they shall bear no fruit. 04:09 Yea, though they bring forth, 04:10 yet will I slay even the beloved 04:12 fruit of their womb. 04:14 My God will cast them away, 04:15 Because they did not hearken unto him. 04:18 And they shall be wanderers among the nations. 04:22 Continuing with Hosea, Chapter 10, 04:25 this is the King James Version. 04:28 Israel is an empty vine, 04:30 he bringeth forth fruit unto himself, 04:33 according to the multitude of his fruit 04:34 he hath increased the altars, 04:36 according to the goodness of his land 04:38 they have made goodly images. 04:41 Their heart is divided, 04:43 now shall they be found faulty. 04:46 He shall break down their altars, 04:48 he shall spoil their images. 04:51 For now they shall say, we have no king, 04:54 because we feared not the Lord. 04:56 What then should a king do to us? 04:59 They have spoken words, 05:00 swearing falsely in making a covenant. 05:04 Thus judgment springeth up 05:06 as hemlock in the furrows of the field. 05:10 The inhabitants of Samaria shall fear 05:12 because of the calves of Bethaven, 05:14 for the people thereof shall mourn over it, 05:18 and the priests thereof that rejoiced on it, 05:20 for the glory thereof, 05:21 because it is departed from it. 05:24 It shall be also carried unto Assyria 05:26 for a present to king Jareb. 05:29 Ephraim shall receive shame, 05:30 and Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel. 05:33 As for Samaria, her king is cut off 05:36 as the foam upon the water. 05:38 The high places also of Aven, 05:40 the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed. 05:43 The thorn and the thistle shall come up on their altars, 05:46 and they shall say to the mountains, 05:48 cover us, and to the hills, fall on us. 05:52 O Israel, thou hast sinned 05:54 from the days of Gibeah, there they stood. 05:58 The battle in Gibeah against the children of iniquity 06:01 did not overtake them. 06:03 It is in my desire that I should chastise them, 06:06 and the people shall be gathered against them, 06:08 when they shall bind themselves in their two furrows. 06:12 And Ephraim is as an heifer that is taught, 06:14 and loveth to tread out the corn, 06:17 but I passed over upon her fair neck. 06:20 I will make Ephraim to ride, 06:21 Judah shall plow, and Jacob shall break his clods. 06:26 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, 06:29 reap in mercy, break up your fallow ground. 06:33 For it is time to seek the Lord, 06:36 till he come and rain righteousness upon you. 06:38 Ye have plowed wickedness, 06:40 ye have reaped iniquity, 06:42 ye have eaten the fruit of lies, 06:44 because thou didst trust in thy way, 06:48 in the multitude of thy mighty men. 06:51 Therefore shall a tumult arise among thy people, 06:55 and all thy fortresses shall be spoiled, 06:57 as Shalman spoiled Betharbel in the day of battle, 07:00 the mother was dashed in pieces upon her children. 07:03 So shall Bethel do unto you 07:06 because of your great wickedness, 07:08 in a morning shall the king of Israel utterly be cut off. 07:14 Continuing in Hosea, Chapter 11. 07:17 When Israel was a child, 07:19 then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt. 07:24 As they called them, so they went from them. 07:27 They sacrificed unto Baalim, 07:30 and burned incense to graven images. 07:33 I taught Ephraim also to go, 07:35 taking them by their arms, 07:36 but they knew not that I healed them. 07:40 I drew them with cords of a man, 07:42 with bands of love. 07:44 And I was to them as they that take off 07:46 the yoke on their jaws, 07:48 and I laid meat unto them. 07:50 He shall not return into the land of Egypt, 07:52 and the Assyrian shall be his king, 07:55 because they refused to return. 07:58 And the sword shall abide on his cities, 08:00 and shall consume his branches, 08:02 and devour them, because of their own counsels. 08:06 And my people are bent to backsliding from me, 08:10 though they called them to the most High, 08:12 none at all would exalt him. 08:15 How shall I give thee up, Ephraim? 08:17 How shall I deliver thee, Israel? 08:19 How shall I make thee as Admah? 08:22 How shall I set thee as Zeboim? 08:25 Mine heart is turned within me, 08:27 my repentings are kindled together. 08:30 I will not execute the fierceness of mine anger, 08:34 I will not return to destroy Ephraim, 08:37 for I am God, and not man. 08:41 The Holy One in the midst of thee, 08:43 and I will not enter into the city. 08:46 They shall walk after the Lord. 08:48 He shall roar like a lion. 08:50 When he shall roar, then the children 08:51 shall tremble from the west. 08:53 They shall tremble as a bird out of Egypt, 08:54 and as a dove out of the land of Assyria. 08:57 And I will place them in their houses, 08:59 saith the Lord. 09:01 Ephraim compasseth me about with lies, 09:05 and the house of Israel with deceit. 09:07 But Judah yet ruleth with God, 09:10 and is faithful with the saints. 09:13 Continuing in Hosea, Chapter 12 09:15 and this is the King James Version. 09:18 Ephraim feedeth on wind, 09:20 and followeth after the east wind. 09:23 He daily increaseth lies and desolation, 09:26 and they do make a covenant with the Assyrians, 09:28 and oil is carried into Egypt. 09:31 The Lord hath also a controversy with Judah, 09:34 and will punish Jacob according to his ways, 09:36 according to his doings will he recompense him. 09:39 He took his brother by the heel in the womb, 09:41 and by his strength he had power with God. 09:44 Yea, he had power over the angel, and prevailed. 09:46 He wept, and made supplication unto him. 09:49 He found him in Bethel, 09:51 and there he spake with us. 09:53 Even the Lord God of hosts, the Lord is his memorial. 09:58 Therefore turn thou to thy God. 10:01 Keep mercy and judgment 10:04 and wait on thy God continually. 10:09 He is a merchant, the balances of deceit are in his hand. 10:13 He loveth to oppress. 10:14 And Ephraim said, Yet I am become rich, 10:17 I have found me out substance, in all my labours 10:20 they shall find none iniquity in me that were sin. 10:24 And I that am the Lord thy God from the land of Egypt 10:28 will yet make thee to dwell in tabernacles, 10:31 as in the days of the solemn feast. 10:34 I have also spoken by the prophets, 10:36 and I have multiplied visions, 10:38 and used similitudes, 10:39 by the ministry of the prophets. 10:42 Is there iniquity in Gilead? 10:44 Surely they are vanity. 10:46 They sacrifice bullocks in Gilgal. 10:49 Yea, their altars are as heaps in the furrows of the fields. 10:53 And Jacob fled into the country of Syria, 10:56 and Israel served for a wife, 10:57 and for a wife he kept sheep. 11:00 And by a prophet the Lord brought Israel out of Egypt, 11:03 and by a prophet was he preserved. 11:06 Ephraim provoked him to anger most bitterly. 11:10 Therefore shall he leave his blood upon him, 11:13 and his reproach shall his Lord return unto him. 11:18 Continuing in Hosea, Chapter 13 11:21 and this is the King James Version. 11:24 When Ephraim spake trembling, 11:27 he exalted himself in Israel. 11:30 But when he offended in Baal, he died. 11:34 And now they sin more and more, 11:35 and have made them molten images of their silver, 11:38 and idols according to their own understanding, 11:41 all of it the work of the craftsmen. 11:43 They say of them, 11:45 let the men that sacrifice kiss the calves. 11:48 Therefore they shall be as the morning cloud 11:51 and as the early dew that passeth away, 11:54 as the chaff that is driven 11:56 with the whirlwind out of the floor, 11:57 and as the smoke out of the chimney. 12:00 Yet I am the Lord thy God from the land of Egypt, 12:05 and thou shalt know no god but me, 12:09 for there is no savior beside me. 12:13 I did know thee in the wilderness, 12:15 in the land of great drought. 12:17 According to their pasture, 12:19 so were they filled, they were filled, 12:20 and their heart was exalted, 12:22 therefore have they forgotten me. 12:25 Therefore I will be unto them as a lion. 12:28 As a leopard by the way will I observe them. 12:32 I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of her whelps, 12:36 and will rend the caul of their heart, 12:38 and there will I devour them like a lion. 12:42 The wild beast shall tear them. 12:44 O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself. 12:50 But in me is thine help. 12:53 I will be thy king. 12:55 Where is any other that may save thee in all thy cities? 12:59 And thy judges of whom thou saidst. 13:01 Give me a king and princes? 13:03 I gave thee a king in mine anger, 13:05 and took him away in my wrath. 13:06 The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up, his sin is hid. 13:12 The sorrows of a travailing woman shall come upon him. 13:16 He is an unwise son, for he should not stay long 13:20 in the place of the breaking forth of children. 13:23 I will ransom them from the power of the grave. 13:26 I will redeem them from death. 13:28 O death, I will be thy plagues. 13:31 O grave, I will be thy destruction. 13:34 Repentance shall be hid from mine eyes. 13:37 Though he be fruitful among his brethren, 13:39 an east wind shall come, 13:41 the wind of the Lord shall come up from the wilderness, 13:44 and his spring shall become dry, 13:46 and his fountain shall be dried up. 13:49 He shall spoil the treasure of all pleasant vessels. 13:53 Samaria shall become desolate, 13:55 for she hath rebelled against her God. 13:58 They shall fall by the sword, 14:00 their infants shall be dashed in pieces, 14:02 and their women with child shall be ripped up. 14:05 Continuing with Hosea, Chapter 14. 14:09 O israel, return unto the Lord thy God, 14:14 for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity. 14:16 Take with you words, 14:18 and turn to the Lord, say unto him, 14:21 Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously. 14:25 So will we render the calves of our lips. 14:28 Asshur shall not save us. 14:30 We will not ride upon horses. 14:32 Neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, 14:35 ye are our gods. 14:37 For in thee the fatherless findeth mercy. |
