00:15 Hello, and welcome to "His Words Are Life."
00:17 I'm Kelly Mowrer and today
00:19 we'll be reading together in the Book of Daniel.
00:22 But let's pray together first.
00:24 Dear heavenly Father, thank you so much
00:26 for this opportunity to hear Your words.
00:30 Please send Your Holy Spirit to bring understanding
00:33 and bare fruit in our lives to Your glory. Amen.
00:38 We are reading in Daniel, Chapter 9
00:42 and Daniel is making a confession to God.
00:45 Picking up in verse 5,
00:46 this is the King James Version.
00:49 We have sinned, and have committed iniquity,
00:52 and have done wickedly, and have rebelled,
00:55 even by departing from thy precepts
00:58 and from thy judgments,
01:01 Neither have we hearkened unto thy servants the prophets,
01:04 which spake in thy name to our kings,
01:06 our princes, and our fathers,
01:08 and to all the people of the land.
01:11 O Lord, righteousness belongeth unto thee,
01:15 but unto us confusion of faces,
01:19 as at this day, to the men of Judah,
01:22 and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem,
01:24 and unto all Israel, that are near,
01:26 and that are far off, through all the countries
01:29 whither thou hast driven them,
01:30 because of their trespass
01:32 that they have trespassed against thee.
01:35 O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face,
01:38 to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers,
01:42 because we have sinned against thee.
01:45 To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgiveness,
01:49 though we have rebelled against him,
01:52 Neither have we obeyed the voice
01:53 of the Lord our God, to walk in his laws,
01:56 which he set before us by his servants the prophets.
02:01 Yea, all Israel have transgressed thy law,
02:04 even by departing, that they might not obey thy voice,
02:09 therefore the curse is poured upon us,
02:12 and the oath that is written in the law of Moses
02:15 the servant of God,
02:17 because we have sinned against him.
02:19 And he hath confirmed his words,
02:21 which he spake against us,
02:22 and against our judges that judged us,
02:24 by bringing upon us a great evil,
02:27 for under the whole heaven hath not been done
02:31 as hath been done upon Jerusalem.
02:34 As it is written in the law of Moses,
02:37 all this evil is come upon us,
02:40 yet made we not our prayer before the Lord our God,
02:44 that we might turn from our iniquities,
02:46 and understand thy truth.
02:49 Therefore hath the Lord watched upon the evil,
02:52 and brought it upon us,
02:54 for the Lord our God is righteous
02:55 in all his works which he doeth,
02:59 for we obeyed not his voice.
03:02 And now, O Lord our God,
03:04 that hast brought thy people
03:06 forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand,
03:09 and hast gotten thee renown,
03:12 as at this day, we have sinned,
03:16 we have done wickedly.
03:18 O Lord, according to all thy righteousness,
03:21 I beseech thee, let thine anger
03:24 and thy fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem,
03:28 thy holy mountain, because for our sins,
03:32 and for the iniquities of our fathers,
03:34 Jerusalem and thy people
03:35 are become a reproach to all that are about us.
03:40 Now therefore, O our God,
03:43 hear the prayer of thy servant,
03:45 and his supplications, and cause thy face to shine
03:50 upon thy sanctuary that is desolate,
03:52 for the Lord's sake.
03:54 O my God, incline thine ear,
03:57 and hear, open thine eyes,
04:00 and behold our desolations,
04:01 and the city which is called by thy name,
04:05 for we do not present our supplications
04:08 before thee for our righteousnesses,
04:10 but for thy great mercies.
04:13 O Lord, hear, O Lord, forgive,
04:19 O Lord, hearken and do,
04:22 defer not, for thine own sake,
04:25 O my God, for thy city
04:28 and thy people are called by thy name.
04:33 And while I was speaking,
04:35 and praying, and confessing my sin
04:38 and the sin of my people Israel,
04:40 and presenting my supplication
04:42 before the Lord my God
04:44 for the holy mountain of my God,
04:46 Yea, while I was speaking in prayer,
04:50 even the man Gabriel,
04:52 whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning,
04:55 being caused to fly swiftly,
04:57 touched me about the time of the evening oblation.
05:02 And he informed me, and talked with me,
05:04 and said, O Daniel,
05:07 I am now come forth
05:08 to give thee skill and understanding.
05:12 At the beginning of thy supplications
05:14 the commandment came forth,
05:16 and I am come to show thee,
05:18 for thou art greatly beloved,
05:21 therefore understand the matter,
05:23 and consider the vision.
05:26 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people
05:28 and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression,
05:31 and to make an end of sins,
05:33 and to make reconciliation for iniquity,
05:36 and to bring in everlasting righteousness,
05:39 and to seal up the vision and prophecy,
05:41 and to anoint the Most Holy.
05:44 Know therefore and understand,
05:47 that from the going forth of the commandment
05:50 to restore and to build Jerusalem,
05:52 unto the Messiah the Prince, shall be seven weeks,
05:56 and threescore and two weeks,
06:00 the street shall be built again,
06:02 and the wall, even in troublous times.
06:06 And after threescore and two weeks
06:08 shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself,
06:12 and the people of the prince
06:13 that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary,
06:18 and the end thereof shall be with a flood,
06:20 and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
06:24 And he shall confirm the covenant with many
06:27 for one week, and in the midst of the week
06:30 he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease,
06:34 and for the overspreading of abominations
06:36 he shall make it desolate,
06:38 even until the consummation,
06:41 and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
06:46 Continuing with Daniel, Chapter 10.
06:49 This is the King James Version.
06:52 In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia
06:56 a thing was revealed unto Daniel,
06:58 whose name was called Belteshaz'zar,
07:01 and the thing was true,
07:03 but the time appointed was long,
07:06 and he understood the thing,
07:08 and had understanding of the vision.
07:11 In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks.
07:17 I ate no pleasant bread,
07:19 neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth,
07:23 neither did I anoint myself at all,
07:26 till three whole weeks were fulfilled.
07:29 And in the four and twentieth day of the first month,
07:33 as I was by the side of the great river,
07:36 which is Hid'dekel,
07:39 Then I lifted up mine eyes,
07:41 and looked, and behold
07:44 a certain man clothed in linen,
07:47 whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz,
07:51 His body also was like the beryl,
07:53 and his face as the appearance of lightning,
07:56 and his eyes as lamps of fire,
07:59 and his arms and his feet
08:01 like in color to polished brass,
08:05 and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.
08:08 And I Daniel alone saw the vision,
08:12 for the men that were with me saw not the vision,
08:16 but a great quaking fell upon them,
08:19 so that they fled to hide themselves.
08:22 Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision,
08:26 and there remained no strength in me,
08:29 for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption,
08:33 and I retained no strength.
08:36 Yet heard I the voice of his words,
08:38 and when I heard the voice of his words,
08:41 then was I in a deep sleep on my face,
08:45 and my face toward the ground.
08:48 And, behold, a hand touched me,
08:50 which set me upon my knees
08:53 and upon the palms of my hands.
08:56 And he said unto me, O Daniel,
08:59 a man greatly beloved,
09:02 understand the words that I speak unto thee,
09:05 and stand upright,
09:07 for unto thee am I now sent.
09:11 And when he had spoken this word unto me,
09:13 I stood trembling.
09:16 Then said he unto me,
09:17 Fear not, Daniel,
09:19 for from the first day that thou didst set
09:23 thine heart to understand,
09:25 and to chasten thyself before thy God,
09:29 thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.
09:33 But the prince of the kingdom
09:35 of Persia withstood me one and twenty days,
09:39 but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes,
09:41 came to help me,
09:43 and I remained there with the kings of Persia.
09:46 Now I am come to make thee understand
09:48 what shall befall thy people in the latter days,
09:52 for yet the vision is for many days.
09:57 And when he had spoken such words unto me,
09:59 I set my face toward the ground,
10:02 and I became dumb.
10:04 And, behold, one like the similitude
10:06 of the sons of men touched my lips,
10:10 then I opened my mouth, and spake,
10:13 and said unto him that stood before me,
10:15 O my lord, by the vision my sorrows are turned upon me,
10:21 and I have retained no strength.
10:23 For how can the servant of this my lord
10:27 talk with this my lord?
10:29 For as for me, straightway
10:31 there remained no strength in me,
10:33 neither is there breath left in me.
10:36 Then there came again and touched me
10:38 one like the appearance of a man,
10:40 and he strengthened me, And said,
10:44 O man greatly beloved, fear not,
10:48 peace be unto thee,
10:50 be strong, yea, be strong.
10:54 And when he had spoken unto me,
10:56 I was strengthened, and said,
10:59 Let my lord speak, for thou hast strengthened me.
11:03 Then said he, Knowest thou
11:05 wherefore I come unto thee?
11:08 and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia,
11:10 and when I am gone forth, lo,
11:12 the prince of Gre'cia shall come.
11:15 But I will show thee
11:17 that which is noted in the Scripture of truth,
11:19 and there is none that holdeth with me in these things,
11:22 but Michael your prince.
11:26 Continuing in Daniel, Chapter 11.
11:27 And this is the King James Version.
11:31 Also I in the first year of Dari'us the Mede,
11:35 even I, stood to confirm and to strengthen him.
11:40 And now will I show thee the truth.
11:43 Behold, there shall stand up yet three kings in Persia,
11:47 and the fourth shall be far richer than they are,
11:51 and by his strength through his riches
11:54 he shall stir up all against the realm of Gre'cia.
11:58 And a mighty king shall stand up,
12:00 that shall rule with great dominion,
12:01 and do according to his will.
12:04 And when he shall stand up,
12:05 his kingdom shall be broken,
12:07 and shall be divided toward the four winds of heaven,
12:10 and not to his posterity,
12:11 nor according to his dominion which he ruled,
12:14 for his kingdom shall be plucked up,
12:16 even for others besides those.
12:19 And the king of the south shall be strong,
12:21 and one of his princes, and he shall be strong
12:23 above him, and have dominion,
12:25 his dominion shall be a great dominion.
12:28 And in the end of years
12:30 they shall join themselves together,
12:32 for the king's daughter of the south shall come
12:35 to the king of the north to make an agreement,
12:38 but she shall not retain the power of the arm,
12:41 neither shall he stand, nor his arm,
12:44 but she shall be given up, and they that brought her,
12:47 and he that begat her,
12:48 and he that strengthened her in these times.
12:52 But out of a branch of her roots
12:54 shall one stand up in his estate,
12:56 which shall come with an army,
12:58 and shall enter into the fortress
12:59 of the king of the north, and shall deal against them,
13:02 and shall prevail,
13:04 And shall also carry captives into Egypt their gods,
13:07 with their princes, and with their precious
13:09 vessels of silver and of gold,
13:11 and he shall continue more years
13:13 than the king of the north.
13:15 So the king of the south shall come into his kingdom,
13:17 and shall return into his own land.
13:19 But his sons shall be stirred up,
13:22 and shall assemble a multitude of great forces,
13:24 and one shall certainly come, and overflow,
13:27 and pass through, then shall he return,
13:29 and be stirred up, even to his fortress.
13:33 And the king of the south shall be moved with choler,
13:36 and shall come forth and fight with him,
13:38 even with the king of the north,
13:40 and he shall set forth a great multitude,
13:42 but the multitude shall be given into his hand.
13:45 And when he hath taken away the multitude,
13:47 his heart shall be lifted up,
13:48 and he shall cast down many ten thousands,
13:51 but he shall not be strengthened by it.
13:54 For the king of the north shall return,
13:55 and shall set forth a multitude greater than the former,
13:58 and shall certainly come after certain years
14:01 with a great army and with much riches.
14:04 And in those times there shall many stand up
14:07 against the king of the south,
14:09 also the robbers of thy people
14:12 shall exalt themselves to establish the vision,
14:15 but they shall fall.
14:17 So the king of the north shall come,
14:19 and cast up a mount,
14:20 and take the most fenced cities,
14:23 and the arms of the south shall not withstand,
14:26 neither his chosen people,
14:27 neither shall there be any strength to withstand.
14:31 But he that cometh against him
14:32 shall do according to his own will,
14:34 and none shall stand before him.
