00:14 Hello and welcome to "His Words are Life."
00:17 I'm Kelly Mowrer and today we'll be reading together
00:20 from the Book of Ezekiel.
00:21 So let's pray before we start.
00:24 Dear Heavenly Father, thank you so much
00:27 for your very great love for us.
00:29 Thank you that you died to redeem us
00:32 and that you've given us these words to show us
00:36 how we can know you better.
00:37 Please be with us now, as we read
00:39 and I ask in the name of Jesus, amen.
00:43 We're reading in Ezekiel Chapter 26,
00:46 and when we left off God was speaking about
00:50 how Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon
00:53 would come upon Tyros.
00:55 We're picking up in Ezekiel 26 Verse 8,
01:01 He shall slay with the sword thy daughters in the field
01:04 and he shall make a fort against thee,
01:06 and cast a mount against thee,
01:08 and lift up the buckler against thee.
01:11 And he shall set engines of war against thy walls,
01:14 and with his axes he shall break down thy towers.
01:18 By reason of the abundance of his horses
01:21 their dust shall cover thee,
01:23 thy walls shall shake at the noise of the horsemen,
01:25 and of the wheels, and of the chariots,
01:28 when he shall enter into thy gates,
01:29 as men enter into a city wherein is made a breach.
01:34 With the hoofs of his horses
01:36 shall he tread down all thy streets
01:38 he shall slay thy people by the sword,
01:41 and thy strong garrisons shall go down to the ground.
01:45 And they shall make a spoil of thy riches,
01:47 and make a prey of thy merchandise
01:49 and they shall break down thy walls,
01:51 and destroy thy pleasant houses
01:54 and they shall lay thy stones and thy timber
01:57 and thy dust in the midst of the water.
02:01 And I will cause the noise of thy songs to cease
02:05 and the sound of thy harps shall be no more heard.
02:09 And I will make thee like the top of a rock
02:12 thou shalt be a place to spread nets upon
02:14 thou shalt be built no more
02:16 for I the Lord have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.
02:21 Thus saith the Lord God to Tyrus
02:23 Shall not the isles shake at the sound of thy fall,
02:27 when the wounded cried
02:28 when the slaughter is made in the midst of thee?
02:31 Then all the princes of the sea shall come down
02:34 from their thrones, and lay away their robes,
02:37 and put off their broidered garments
02:40 they shall clothe themselves with trembling
02:43 they shall sit upon the ground,
02:44 and shall tremble at every moment,
02:47 and be astonished at thee.
02:50 And they shall take up a lamentation for thee,
02:52 and say to thee, How art thou destroyed,
02:55 that wast inhabited of seafaring men,
02:58 the renowned city, which wast strong in the sea,
03:01 she and her inhabitants,
03:02 which cause their terror to be on all that haunt it!
03:07 Now shall the isles tremble in the day of thy fall,
03:11 yea, the isles that are in the sea
03:13 shall be troubled at thy departure.
03:16 For thus saith the Lord God,
03:18 When I shall make thee a desolate city,
03:20 like the cities that are not inhabited
03:23 when I shall bring up the deep upon thee,
03:25 and great waters shall cover thee.
03:27 When I shall bring thee down with them
03:30 the descendent into the pit with the people of old time,
03:33 and shall set thee in the low parts of the earth,
03:36 in places desolate of old,
03:37 with them that go down to the pit,
03:39 that thou be not inhabited
03:41 and I shall set glory in the land of the living.
03:45 I will make thee a terror,
03:47 and thou shalt be no more,
03:49 though thou be sought for,
03:51 yet shalt thou never be found again,
03:55 saith the Lord GOD.
03:57 Continuing with Ezekiel Chapter 27
04:00 and this is the Kings James Version.
04:03 The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,
04:06 Now, thou son of man, take up a lamentation for Tyrus.
04:10 And say unto Tyrus,
04:13 O thou that art situate at the entry of the sea,
04:16 which art a merchant of the people for many isles,
04:20 Thus saith the Lord God,
04:21 O Tyrus, thou hast said,
04:24 I am of perfect beauty.
04:27 Thy borders are in the midst of the seas,
04:30 thy builders have perfected thy beauty.
04:34 They have made all thy ship boards
04:36 of fir trees of Senir they have taken cedars
04:40 from Lebanon to make masts for thee.
04:43 Of the oaks of Bashan have they made thine oars,
04:47 the company of the Ashurites
04:49 have made thy benches of ivory,
04:51 brought out of the isles of Chittim.
04:54 Fine linen with broidered work from Egypt
04:57 was that which thou spreadest forth to be thy sail,
05:00 blue and purple from the isles of Elishah
05:02 was that which covered thee.
05:05 The inhabitants of Zidon and Arvad were thy mariners
05:08 thy wise men, O Tyrus,
05:10 that were in thee, were thy pilots.
05:13 The ancients of Gebal and the wise men thereof
05:16 were in thee thy calkers,
05:18 all the ships of the sea with their mariners
05:20 were in thee to occupy thy merchandise.
05:23 They of Persia and of Lud and of Phut were in thine army,
05:27 thy men of war,
05:28 they hanged the shield and helmet in thee,
05:31 they set forth thy comeliness.
05:34 The men of Arvad with thine army
05:36 were upon thy walls round about,
05:39 and the Gammadims were in thy towers:
05:42 they hanged their shields upon thy walls round about;
05:44 they have made thy beauty perfect.
05:46 Tarshish was thy merchant by reason of the multitude
05:49 of all kind of riches, with silver, iron, tin, and lead
05:53 they traded in thy fairs.
05:56 Javan, Tubal, and Meshech,
05:58 they were thy merchants,
06:00 they traded the persons of men
06:02 and vessels of brass in thy market.
06:04 They of the house of Togarmah traded in thy fairs
06:08 with horses and horsemen and mules.
06:12 The men of Dedan were thy merchants;
06:14 many isles were the merchandise of thine hand,
06:17 they brought thee for a present
06:19 horns of ivory and ebony.
06:21 Syria was thy merchant by reason of the multitude
06:25 of the wares of thy making,
06:27 they occupied in thy faires with Emeraulds,
06:30 purple, and broidered worke,
06:32 fine linen, and Corall, and Agate.
06:36 Judah, and the land of Israel,
06:38 they were thy merchants,
06:40 they traded in thy market wheat of Minnith,
06:42 and Pannag, and honey, and oil, and balm.
06:46 Damascus was thy merchant in the multitude
06:48 of the wares of thy making,
06:49 for the multitude of all riches,
06:51 in the wine of Helbon, and white wool.
06:54 Dan also and Javan going to and fro
06:58 occupied in thy fairs,
07:00 bright iron cassia, and calamus, were in thy market.
07:04 Dedan was thy merchant in precious clothes for chariots.
07:08 Arabia, and all the princes of Kedar,
07:10 they occupied with thee in lambs,
07:12 and rams, and goats,
07:15 in these were they thy merchants.
07:18 The merchants of Sheba and Raamah,
07:21 they were thy merchants they occupied in thy fairs
07:23 with chief of all spices, and with all precious stones,
07:26 and gold, Haran, and Canneh, and Eden,
07:30 the merchants of Sheba, Asshur, and Chilmad,
07:34 were thy merchants.
07:36 These were thy merchants in all sorts of things,
07:38 in blue clothes, and broidered work,
07:40 and in chests of rich apparel,
07:43 bound with cords, and made of cedar,
07:45 among thy merchandise.
07:47 The ships of Tarshish did sing of thee in thy market,
07:52 and thou wast replenished,
07:53 and made very glorious in the midst of the seas.
07:58 Thy rowers have brought thee into great waters,
08:01 the east wind hath broken thee in the midst of the seas.
08:05 Thy riches, and thy fairs, thy merchandise,
08:08 thy mariners, and thy pilots, thy calkers,
08:13 and the occupiers of thy merchandise,
08:14 and all thy men of war, that are in thee,
08:17 and in all thy company which is in the midst of thee,
08:20 shall fall into the midst of the seas in the day of thy ruin.
08:26 The suburbs shall shake at the sound of the cry of thy pilots.
08:31 And all that handle the oar,
08:33 the mariners, and all the pilots of the sea,
08:35 shall come down from their ships,
08:38 they shall stand upon the land.
08:39 And shall cause their voice to be heard against thee,
08:42 and shall cry bitterly,
08:43 and shall cast up dust upon their heads,
08:46 they shall wallow themselves in the ashes.
08:51 And they shall make themselves utterly bald for thee,
08:54 and gird them with sackcloth,
08:55 and they shall weep for thee with bitterness of heart
08:59 and bitter wailing.
09:03 And in their wailing they shall take up
09:05 a lamentation for thee, and lament over thee,
09:09 saying, what city is like Tyrus,
09:14 like the destroyed in the midst of the sea?
09:18 When thy wares went forth out of the seas,
09:20 thou filledst many people,
09:22 thou didst enrich the kings of the earth with the multitude
09:25 of thy riches and of thy merchandise.
09:29 In the time when thou shalt be broken by the seas
09:32 in the depths of the waters thy merchandise
09:36 and all thy company in the midst of thee shall fall.
09:40 All the inhabitants of the isles shall be astonished at thee,
09:44 and their kings shall be sore afraid,
09:47 they shall be troubled in their countenance.
09:51 The merchants among the people shall hiss at thee,
09:55 thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt be any more.
10:00 Continuing in Ezekiel Chapter 28
10:03 and this is the King James Version.
10:05 The word of the Lord came again unto me, saying,
10:09 Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus,
10:12 Thus saith the Lord God,
10:14 Because thine heart is lifted up,
10:16 and thou hast said, I am a God,
10:19 I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas,
10:23 yet thou art a man, and not a God,
10:25 though thou set thine heart as the heart of God.
10:29 Behold, thou art wiser than Daniel,
10:32 there is no secret that they can hide from thee.
10:34 With thy wisdom and with thine understanding
10:37 thou hast gotten thee riches,
10:38 and hast gotten gold and silver into thy treasures.
10:42 By thy great wisdom and by thy traffick
10:44 hast thou increased thy riches,
10:46 and thine heart is lifted up because of thy riches.
10:49 Therefore thus saith the Lord God,
10:51 Because thou hast set thine heart as the heart of God.
10:55 Behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon thee,
10:58 the terrible of the nations
11:01 and they shall draw their swords
11:02 against the beauty of thy wisdom,
11:05 and they shall defile thy brightness.
11:07 They shall bring thee down to the pit,
11:08 and thou shalt die the deaths of them
11:11 that are slain in the midst of the seas.
11:14 Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee,
11:17 I am God?
11:18 but thou shalt be a man, and no God,
11:21 in the hand of him that slayeth thee.
11:23 Thou shalt die the deaths of the uncircumcised
11:26 by the hand of strangers,
11:27 for I have spoken it, saith the Lord God.
11:32 Moreover the word of the Lord,
11:33 came unto me, saying, Son of man,
11:34 take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus,
11:37 and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God,
11:41 Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom,
11:44 and perfect in beauty.
11:46 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God,
11:49 every precious stone was thy covering,
11:52 the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl,
11:55 the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald,
11:58 and the carbuncle, and gold, the workmanship of thy tabrets
12:02 and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day
12:05 that thou wast created.
12:06 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth,
12:10 and I have set thee so,
12:11 thou wast upon the holy mountain of God
12:14 thou hast walked up and down
12:16 in the midst of the stones of fire.
12:19 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day
12:23 that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
12:27 By the multitude of thy merchandise
12:29 they have filled the midst of thee with violence,
12:32 and thou hast sinned,
12:34 therefore I will cast thee as profane
12:38 out of the mountain of God
12:40 and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub,
12:43 from the midst of the stones of fire.
12:46 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty,
12:50 thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness.
12:55 I will cast thee to the ground,
12:57 I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.
13:01 Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries
13:04 by the multitude of thine iniquities,
13:06 by the iniquity of thy traffick,
13:09 therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee,
13:13 it shall devour thee,
13:14 and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth
13:16 in the sight of all them that behold thee.
13:20 All they that know thee among the people
13:22 shall be astonished at thee thou shalt be a terror,
13:26 and never shalt thou be any more.
13:30 Again the word of the Lord came unto me,
13:31 saying, Son of man,
13:33 set thy face against Zidon, and prophesy against it.
13:37 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD,
13:40 Behold, I am against thee, O Zidon,
13:42 and I will be glorified in the midst of thee
13:45 and they shall know that I am the Lord,
13:47 when I shall have executed judgments in her,
13:50 and shall be sanctified in her.
13:52 For I will send into her pestilence,
13:55 and blood into her streets,
13:57 and the wounded shall be judged in the midst of her
14:00 by the sword upon her on every side,
14:03 and they shall know that I am the Lord.
14:06 And there shall be no more a pricking brier
14:09 unto the house of Israel,
14:11 nor any grieving thorn of all that are round about them,
14:14 that despised them,
14:16 and they shall know that I am the Lord God.
14:19 Thus saith the Lord God,
14:21 When I shall have gathered the house of Israel
14:24 from the people among whom they are scattered,
14:27 and shall be sanctified in them in the sight of the heathen,
14:32 then shall they dwell in their land
14:34 that I have given to my servant Jacob.
