00:15 Hello and welcome to "His Words are Life."
00:17 I'm Kelly Mowrer and today we'll continue 00:20 reading together from the Book of Ezekiel. 00:23 But let's pray together first. 00:25 Dear Heavenly Father, thank you again 00:27 for an opportunity to come apart 00:30 and to read Your word together. 00:33 You see, each one of us, where we are right now. 00:38 Please send Your Holy Spirit 00:39 to bring understanding to our hearts, 00:43 that we won't just shake our head 00:45 at the foolishness of Your people, 00:48 all these centuries past, 00:50 but we will see in our own lives still, 00:53 the ways that we need You to change us 00:55 and draw us closer to Yourself. 00:57 We love You so much 00:58 and thank you for loving us, amen. 01:02 Reading in the Book of Ezekiel Chapter 21, 01:05 picking up with verse 17, 01:07 this is the King James Version. 01:10 "I will also smite mine hands together, 01:13 and I will cause my fury to rest, 01:15 I the Lord have said it. 01:19 The word of the Lord came unto me again, saying. 01:22 Also, thou son of man, appoint thee two ways, 01:26 that the sword of the king of Babylon may come, 01:29 both twain shall come forth out of one land, 01:33 and choose thou a place, 01:36 choose it at the head of the way to the city. 01:39 Appoint a way that the sword may come 01:41 to Rabbath of the Ammonites, 01:43 and to Judah in Jerusalem the defenced. 01:47 For the king of Babylon stood at the parting of the way, 01:49 at the head of the two ways, 01:51 to use divination, he made his arrows bright, 01:55 he consulted with images, he looked in the liver. 01:58 At his right hand was the divination for Jerusalem, 02:02 to appoint captains, 02:03 to open the mouth in the slaughter, 02:05 to lift up the voice with shouting, 02:07 to appoint battering rams against the gates, 02:11 to cast a mount, and to build a fort. 02:14 And it shall be unto them 02:15 as a false divination in their sight, 02:19 to them that have sworn oaths, 02:21 but he will call to remembrance the iniquity, 02:24 that they may be taken. 02:26 Therefore thus saith the Lord God, 02:29 because ye have made your iniquity 02:32 to be remembered, 02:34 in that your transgressions are discovered, 02:36 so that in all your doings your sins do appear, 02:41 because, I say, that ye are come to remembrance, 02:44 ye shall be taken with the hand. 02:47 And thou, profane wicked prince of Israel, 02:51 whose day is come, when iniquity shall have an end, 02:55 Thus saith the Lord God, 02:57 Remove the diadem, and take off the crown, 03:00 this shall not be the same, 03:03 exalt him that is low, and abase him that is high. 03:09 I will overturn, overturn, overturn it, 03:13 and it shall be no more, 03:15 until he come whose right it is, 03:18 and I will give it him. 03:20 And thou, Son of Man, prophesy and say, 03:23 Thus saith the Lord God concerning the Ammonites, 03:25 and concerning their reproach, even say thou, 03:29 The sword, the sword is drawn, 03:32 for the slaughter it is furbished, 03:33 to consume because of the glittering, 03:36 Whiles they see vanity unto thee, 03:39 whiles they divine a lie unto thee, 03:41 to bring thee upon the necks of them 03:43 that are slain, of the wicked, 03:46 whose day is come, 03:47 when their iniquity shall have an end. 03:50 Shall I cause it to return into his sheath? 03:53 I will judge thee in the place 03:55 where thou wast created, in the land of thy nativity. 03:59 And I will pour out mine indignation upon thee, 04:03 I will blow against thee in the fire of my wrath, 04:05 and deliver thee into the hand of brutish men, 04:09 and skilful to destroy. 04:11 Thou shalt be for fuel to the fire, 04:13 thy blood shall be in the midst of the land, 04:15 thou shalt be no more remembered, 04:18 for I the Lord have spoken it." 04:22 Continuing in the Book of Ezekiel, Chapter 22 04:25 and this is the King James Version. 04:28 "Moreover the word of the Lord 04:31 came unto me, saying. 04:33 Now, thou son of man, wilt thou judge, 04:36 wilt thou judge the bloody city? 04:39 Yea, thou shalt shew her all her abominations. 04:44 Then say thou, thus saith the Lord God, 04:48 the city sheddeth blood in the midst of it, 04:50 that her time may come, 04:52 and maketh idols against herself to defile herself. 04:58 Thou art become guilty in thy blood 05:00 that thou hast shed, 05:01 and hast defiled thyself in thine idols 05:04 which thou hast made, 05:06 and thou hast caused thy days to draw near, 05:10 and art come even unto thy years, 05:13 therefore have I made thee a reproach 05:15 unto the heathen, 05:17 and a mocking to all countries. 05:19 Those that be near, and those that be far from thee, 05:22 shall mock thee, which art infamous and much vexed. 05:27 Behold, the princes of Israel, 05:29 every one were in thee to their power to shed blood. 05:34 In thee have they set light by father and mother, 05:37 in the midst of thee have they dealt 05:39 by oppression with the stranger, 05:42 in thee have they vexed the fatherless and the widow. 05:46 Thou hast despised mine holy things, 05:49 and hast profaned my Sabbaths. 05:52 In thee are men that carry tales to shed blood, 05:57 and in thee they eat upon the mountains, 05:59 in the midst of thee they commit lewdness. 06:02 In thee have they discovered their fathers' nakedness, 06:05 in thee have they humbled her 06:06 that was set apart for pollution. 06:09 And one hath committed abomination 06:11 with his neighbor's wife, 06:13 and another hath lewdly defiled his daughter in law, 06:16 and another in thee hath humbled his sister, 06:18 his father's daughter. 06:20 In thee have they taken gifts to shed blood, 06:23 thou hast taken usury and increase, 06:25 and thou hast greedily gained 06:27 of thy neighbors by extortion, 06:29 and hast forgotten me, saith the Lord God. 06:34 Behold, therefore I have smitten 06:36 mine hand at thy dishonest gain 06:39 which thou hast made, and at thy blood 06:42 which hath been in the midst of thee. 06:44 Can thine heart endure, or can thine hands be strong, 06:48 in the days that I shall deal with thee? 06:52 I the Lord have spoken it, and will do it. 06:55 And I will scatter thee among the heathen, 06:57 and disperse thee in the countries, 06:59 and will consume thy filthiness out of thee. 07:03 And thou shalt take thine inheritance 07:06 in thyself in the sight of the heathen, 07:08 and thou shalt know that I am the Lord. 07:13 And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying. 07:16 Son of man, the house of Israel 07:18 is to me become dross, 07:21 all they are brass, and tin, and iron, 07:25 and lead, in the midst of the furnace, 07:27 they are even the dross of silver. 07:30 Therefore thus saith the Lord God, 07:33 because ye are all become dross, 07:36 behold, therefore I will gather you 07:39 into the midst of Jerusalem. 07:40 As they gather silver, and brass, 07:43 and iron, and lead, and tin, 07:44 into the midst of the furnace, 07:46 to blow the fire upon it, 07:47 to melt it, so will I gather you 07:51 in mine anger and in my fury, 07:52 and I will leave you there, and melt you. 07:56 Yea, I will gather you, 07:58 and blow upon you in the fire of my wrath, 08:01 and ye shall be melted in the midst thereof. 08:04 As silver is melted in the midst of the furnace, 08:07 so shall ye be melted in the midst thereof, 08:10 and ye shall know that I the Lord 08:14 have poured out my fury upon you. 08:17 And the word of the Lord came unto me, 08:19 saying, son of man, say unto her, 08:23 Thou art the land that is not cleansed, 08:27 nor rained upon in the day of indignation. 08:30 There is a conspiracy of her prophets 08:32 in the midst thereof, 08:34 like a roaring lion ravening the prey, 08:37 they have devoured souls, 08:39 they have taken the treasure and precious things, 08:40 they have made her many widows 08:42 in the midst thereof. 08:45 Her priests have violated my law, 08:47 and have profaned mine holy things, 08:50 they have put no difference between the holy and profane, 08:53 neither have they shewed difference 08:55 between the unclean and the clean, 08:57 and have hid their eyes from my Sabbaths, 09:00 and I am profaned among them. 09:02 Her princes in the midst thereof 09:04 are like wolves ravening the prey, 09:07 to shed blood, and to destroy souls, 09:10 to get dishonest gain. 09:12 And her prophets have daubed them 09:14 with untempered morter, seeing vanity, 09:17 and divining lies unto them, 09:19 saying, thus saith the Lord God, 09:22 when the Lord hath not spoken. 09:25 The people of the land have used oppression, 09:28 and exercised robbery, and have vexed 09:31 the poor and needy, 09:33 yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully. 09:37 And I sought for a man among them 09:40 that should make up the hedge, 09:42 and stand in the gap before me for the land, 09:45 that I should not destroy it, 09:48 but I found none. 09:51 Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them, 09:55 I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath, 09:58 their own way have I recompensed 10:00 upon their heads, saith the Lord God." 10:05 Continuing with Ezekiel Chapter 23, 10:07 this is the King James Version. 10:11 "The word of the Lord came again unto me, saying, 10:13 Son of man, there were two women, 10:15 the daughters of one mother. 10:18 And they committed whoredoms in Egypt, 10:20 they committed whoredoms in their youth, 10:22 there were their breasts pressed, 10:24 and there they bruised the teats of their virginity. 10:27 And the names of them were Aholah the elder, 10:31 and Aholibah her sister, and they were mine, 10:35 and they bare sons and daughters. 10:38 Thus were their names, Samaria is Aholah, 10:42 and Jerusalem Aholibah. 10:45 And Aholah played the harlot when she was mine, 10:48 and she doted on her lovers, 10:50 on the Assyrians her neighbors. 10:51 Which were clothed with blue, captains and rulers, 10:55 all of them desirable young men, 10:56 horsemen riding upon horses? 10:59 Thus she committed her whoredoms with them, 11:01 and all them that were the chosen men of Assyria, 11:04 and with all on whom she doted, 11:06 with all their idols she defiled herself. 11:10 Neither left she her whoredoms brought from Egypt, 11:14 for in her youth they lay with her, 11:16 and they bruised the breasts of her virginity, 11:19 and poured their whoredom upon her. 11:22 Wherefore I have delivered her 11:24 into the hand of her lovers, 11:25 into the hands of the Assyrians, 11:27 upon whom she doted. 11:29 These discovered her nakedness, 11:31 they took her sons and her daughters, 11:34 and slew her with the sword, 11:36 and she became famous among women, 11:38 for they had executed judgment upon her. 11:42 And when her sister Aholibah saw this, 11:45 she was more corrupt in her inordinate love 11:48 than she and in her whoredoms 11:50 more than her sister in her whoredoms. 11:52 She doted upon the Assyrians her neighbors, 11:54 captains and rulers clothed most gorgeously, 11:58 horsemen riding upon horses, 11:59 all of them desirable young men. 12:02 Then I saw that she was defiled, 12:04 that they took both one way. 12:07 And that she increased her whoredoms, 12:09 for when she saw men portrayed upon the wall, 12:11 the images of the Chaldeans portrayed with vermilion, 12:16 Girded with girdles upon their loins, 12:18 exceeding in dyed attire upon their heads, 12:22 all of them princes to look to, 12:25 after the manner of the Babylonians of Chaldea, 12:28 the land of their nativity. 12:30 And as soon as she saw them with her eyes, 12:32 she doted upon them, and sent messengers 12:34 unto them into Chaldea. 12:36 And the Babylonians came to her 12:38 into the bed of love, 12:40 and they defiled her with their whoredom, 12:41 and she was polluted with them, 12:43 and her mind was alienated from them. 12:48 So she discovered her whoredoms, 12:49 and discovered her nakedness, 12:52 then my mind was alienated from her, 12:56 like as my mind was alienated from her sister. 13:00 Yet she multiplied her whoredoms, 13:02 in calling to remembrance the days of her youth, 13:05 wherein she had played the harlot 13:07 in the land of Egypt. 13:09 For she doted upon their paramours, 13:11 whose flesh is as the flesh of asses, 13:13 and whose issue is like the issue of horses. 13:16 Thus thou calledst to remembrance 13:18 the lewdness of thy youth, 13:20 in bruising thy teats by the Egyptians 13:22 for the paps of thy youth. 13:25 Therefore, O Aholibah, thus saith the Lord God, 13:30 behold, I will raise up thy lovers against thee, 13:33 from whom thy mind is alienated, 13:35 and I will bring them against thee on every side. 13:39 The Babylonians, and all the Chaldeans, 13:42 Pekod, and Shoa, and Koa, 13:44 and all the Assyrians with them, 13:46 all of them desirable young men, 13:48 captains and rulers, great lords and renowned, 13:51 all of them riding upon horses. 13:53 And they shall come against thee with chariots, 13:55 wagons, and wheels, and with an assembly of people, 13:59 which shall set against thee buckler and shield 14:02 and helmet round about, 14:04 and I will set judgment before them, 14:06 and they shall judge thee according to their judgments. 14:10 And I will set my jealousy against thee, 14:12 and they shall deal furiously with thee, 14:14 they shall take away thy nose and thine ears, 14:17 and thy remnant shall fall by the sword, 14:19 they shall take thy sons and thy daughters, 14:22 and thy residue shall be devoured by the fire. 14:26 They shall also strip thee out of thy clothes, 14:28 and take away thy fair jewels. 14:30 Thus will I make thy lewdness to cease from thee, 14:33 and thy whoredom brought from the land of Egypt, 14:36 so that thou shalt not lift up thine eyes unto them, 14:39 nor remember Egypt any more." |
