00:15 Hello and welcome back to "His Words Are Life."
00:18 I'm Kelly Mowrer and today we'll be reading together 00:21 from the Book of Ezekiel. 00:23 But first let's pray. 00:25 Dear Heavenly Father, thank you so much 00:28 that you are the bread of life to us, 00:31 You are the living water, You are the light to our path. 00:36 Please be with each of us today, 00:38 send us the Holy Spirit to show us 00:40 how these words from you apply in every situation 00:44 that we're facing right now. 00:46 We love You so much and thank you 00:48 for loving us, amen. 00:50 We're reading in the Book of Ezekiel Chapter 19, 00:54 beginning with verse 10 00:56 and this is the King James Version. 00:59 "Thy mother is like a vine in thy blood, 01:02 planted by the waters. 01:05 She was fruitful and full of branches 01:07 by reason of many waters. 01:09 And she had strong rods for the sceptres of them 01:12 that bare rule, and her stature was exalted 01:15 among the thick branches, and she appeared in her height 01:18 with the multitude of her branches. 01:20 But she was plucked up in fury, 01:23 she was cast down to the ground, 01:25 and the east wind dried up her fruit, 01:28 her strong rods were broken and withered, 01:31 the fire consumed them. 01:33 And now she is planted in the wilderness, 01:36 in a dry and thirsty ground. 01:39 And fire is gone out of a rod of her branches, 01:42 which hath devoured her fruit, 01:45 so that she hath no strong rod to be a sceptre to rule. 01:50 This is a lamentation, 01:52 and shall be for a lamentation." 01:56 Continuing in Ezekiel Chapter 20, 01:58 this is the King James Version. 02:01 "And it came to pass in the seventh year, 02:03 in the fifth month, the tenth day of the month, 02:07 that certain of the elders of Israel 02:09 came to enquire of the Lord, and sat before me. 02:14 Then came the word of the Lord unto me, 02:16 saying, Son of man, speak unto the elders of Israel, 02:20 and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God. 02:25 Are ye come to enquire of me. 02:28 As I live, saith the Lord God, 02:30 I will not be enquired of by you. 02:35 Wilt thou judge them, son of man, 02:36 wilt thou judge them. 02:38 'Cause them to know 02:40 the abominations of their fathers. 02:41 And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God. 02:44 In the day when I chose Israel, 02:47 and lifted up mine hand 02:48 unto the seed of the house of Jacob, 02:51 and made myself known unto them 02:52 in the land of Egypt, 02:54 when I lifted up mine hand unto them, 02:56 saying, I am the Lord your God. 03:00 In the day that I lifted up mine hand unto them, 03:02 to bring them forth of the land of Egypt 03:05 into a land that I had espied for them, 03:08 flowing with milk and honey, 03:09 which is the glory of all lands. 03:12 Then said I unto them, 03:15 Cast ye away every man the abominations of his eyes, 03:21 and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt. 03:26 I am the Lord your God. 03:28 But they rebelled against me, and would not hearken unto me. 03:33 They did not every man 03:35 cast away the abominations of their eyes, 03:37 neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt. 03:42 Then I said, I will pour out my fury upon them, 03:45 to accomplish my anger against them 03:47 in the midst of the land of Egypt. 03:50 But I wrought for my name's sake, 03:52 that it should not be polluted before the heathen, 03:55 among whom they were, in whose sight 03:58 I made myself known unto them, 03:59 in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt. 04:03 Wherefore I caused them 04:04 to go forth out of the land of Egypt, 04:05 and brought them into the wilderness. 04:07 And I gave them my statutes, and shewed them my judgments, 04:10 which if a man do, he shall even live in them. 04:16 Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, 04:18 to be a sign between me and them, 04:21 that they might know 04:22 that I am the Lord that sanctify them. 04:25 But the house of Israel 04:27 rebelled against me in the wilderness. 04:30 They walked not in my statutes, 04:32 they despised my judgments, which if a man do, 04:36 he shall even live in them, 04:38 and my sabbaths they greatly polluted. 04:42 Then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them 04:44 in the wilderness, to consume them. 04:48 But I wrought for my name's sake, 04:50 that it should not be polluted before the heathen, 04:52 in whose sight I brought them out. 04:55 Yet also I lifted up my hand unto them in the wilderness, 04:59 that I would not bring them into the land 05:00 which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, 05:03 which is the glory of all lands. 05:05 Because they despised my judgments, 05:07 and walked not in my statutes, but polluted my Sabbaths, 05:11 for their heart went after their idols. 05:15 Nevertheless mine eye spared them 05:18 from destroying them, 05:19 neither did I make an end of them in the wilderness. 05:24 But I said unto their children in the wilderness, 05:26 Walk ye not in the statutes of your fathers, 05:30 neither observe their judgments, 05:32 nor defile yourselves with their idols. 05:35 I am the Lord your God, walk in my statutes, 05:38 and keep my judgments, and do them. 05:40 And hallow my sabbaths, 05:42 and they shall be a sign between me and you, 05:45 that ye may know that I am the Lord your God. 05:49 Notwithstanding the children rebelled against me, 05:53 they walked not in my statutes, 05:55 neither kept my judgments to do them, 05:57 which if a man do, he shall live in them, 06:00 they polluted my sabbaths, 06:02 Then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them, 06:04 to accomplish my anger 06:06 against them in the wilderness. 06:08 Nevertheless I withdrew mine hand, 06:11 and wrought for my name's sake, 06:14 that it should not be polluted in the sight of the heathen, 06:17 in whose sight I brought them forth. 06:19 I lifted up mine hand unto them also in the wilderness, 06:22 that I would scatter them among the heathen, 06:25 and disperse them through the countries. 06:27 Because they had not executed my judgments, 06:29 but had despised my statutes, and had polluted my sabbaths, 06:33 and their eyes were after their fathers' idols. 06:37 Wherefore I gave them also statutes that were not good, 06:40 and judgments whereby they should not live, 06:42 and I polluted them in their own gifts, 06:45 in that they caused to pass through the fire 06:48 all that openeth the womb, 06:50 that I might make them desolate, 06:52 to the end that they might know that I am the Lord. 06:58 Therefore, son of man, 07:00 speak unto the house of Israel, 07:02 and say unto them. Thus saith the Lord God. 07:06 Yet in this your fathers have blasphemed me, 07:10 in that they have committed a trespass against me. 07:14 For when I had brought them into the land, 07:16 for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to them, 07:19 then they saw every high hill, and all the thick trees, 07:24 and they offered there their sacrifices, 07:27 and there they presented 07:29 the provocation of their offering, 07:31 there also they made their sweet savour, 07:34 and poured out there their drink offerings. 07:37 Then I said unto them. 07:39 What is the high place whereunto you go? 07:43 And the name thereof is called Bamah unto this day. 07:47 Wherefore say unto the house of Israel, 07:51 Thus saith the Lord God. 07:53 Are ye polluted after the manner of your fathers? 07:57 And commit ye whoredom after their abominations? 08:00 For when ye offer your gifts, 08:02 when ye make your sons to pass through the fire, 08:05 ye pollute yourselves with all their idols, 08:07 even unto this day. 08:09 And shall I be enquired of by you, O house of Israel? 08:14 As I live, saith the Lord God, 08:15 I will not be enquired of by you. 08:18 And that which cometh into your mind shall not be at all. 08:22 That ye say, we will be as the heathen, 08:25 as the families of the countries, 08:26 to serve wood and stone. 08:29 As I live, saith the Lord God, surely with a mighty hand, 08:33 and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out, 08:38 will I rule over you. 08:40 And I will bring you out from the people, 08:43 and will gather you out of the countries 08:44 wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, 08:47 and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out. 08:50 And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, 08:53 and there will I plead with you face to face. 08:58 Like as I pleaded with your fathers 09:01 in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, 09:02 so will I plead with you, saith the Lord God. 09:06 And I will cause you to pass under the rod, 09:08 and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant. 09:11 And I will purge out from among you the rebels, 09:14 and them that transgress against me. 09:17 I will bring them forth 09:19 out of the country where they sojourn, 09:20 and they shall not enter into the land of Israel. 09:23 And ye shall know that I am the Lord. 09:28 As for you, O house of Israel, 09:30 thus saith the Lord God, 09:32 Go ye, serve ye everyone his idols, 09:36 and hereafter also, 09:37 if ye will not hearken unto me. 09:39 But pollute ye my holy name 09:41 no more with your gifts, and with your idols. 09:45 For in mine Holy Mountain, 09:47 in the mountain of the height of Israel, 09:49 saith the Lord God. 09:50 There shall all the house of Israel, 09:53 all of them in the land, serve me. 09:55 There will I accept them, 09:57 and there will I require your offerings, 10:00 and the first-fruits of your oblations, 10:02 with all your holy things. 10:04 I will accept you with your sweet savour. 10:07 When I bring you out from the people, 10:09 and gather you out of the countries 10:11 wherein ye have been scattered. 10:13 And I will be sanctified in you before the heathen. 10:18 And ye shall know that I am the Lord. 10:20 When I shall bring you into the land of Israel, 10:22 into the country for the which I lifted up 10:25 my hand to give it to your fathers. 10:26 And there shall ye remember your ways, 10:29 and all your doings, wherein ye have been defiled, 10:33 and ye shall lothe yourselves in your own sight 10:35 for all your evils that ye have committed. 10:39 And ye shall know that I am the Lord. 10:42 When I have wrought with you for my name's sake, 10:45 not according to your wicked ways, 10:48 nor according to your corrupt doings, 10:50 O ye house of Israel, saith the Lord God. 10:54 Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, 10:56 Son of man, set thy face toward the south, 10:59 and drop thy word toward the south, 11:02 and prophesy against the forest of the south field. 11:06 And say to the forest of the south. 11:09 Hear the word of the Lord. 11:11 Thus saith the Lord God, Behold, 11:13 I will kindle a fire in thee, 11:15 and it shall devour every green tree in thee, 11:18 and every dry tree. 11:20 The flaming flame shall not be quenched, 11:23 and all faces from the south to the north 11:27 shall be burned therein. 11:29 And all flesh shall see that I the Lord have kindled it, 11:33 it shall not be quenched. 11:36 Then said I, Ah Lord God, they say of me. 11:42 Doth he not speak parables? 11:45 Continuing in Ezekiel Chapter 21, 11:48 and this is King James Version. 11:51 And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, 11:53 Son of man, set thy face toward Jerusalem, 11:55 and drop thy word toward the holy places, 11:58 and prophesy against the land of Israel, 12:00 and say to the land of Israel. 12:02 Thus saith the Lord. 12:04 Behold, I am against thee, 12:07 and will draw forth my sword out of his sheath, 12:10 and will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked. 12:15 Seeing then that I will cut off 12:16 from thee the righteous and the wicked, 12:18 therefore shall my sword go forth out of his sheath 12:21 against all flesh from the south to the north. 12:25 That all flesh may know that 12:27 I the Lord have drawn forth my sword out of his sheath. 12:31 It shall not return any more. 12:33 Sigh therefore, thou son of man, 12:36 with the breaking of thy loins, 12:38 and with bitterness sigh before their eyes. 12:43 And it shall be, when they say unto thee, 12:45 Wherefore sighest thou? 12:48 That thou shall answer. 12:50 For the tidings, because it cometh. 12:54 And every heart shall melt, and all hands shall be feeble, 12:58 and every spirit shall faint, 13:00 and all knees shall be weak as water. 13:03 Behold, it cometh, and shall be brought to pass, 13:07 saith the Lord God. 13:10 Again the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, 13:12 Son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus saith the Lord. 13:16 Say, a sword, a sword is sharpened, 13:20 and also furbished. 13:22 It is sharpened to make a sore slaughter, 13:25 it is furbished that it may glitter. 13:28 Should we then make mirth? 13:30 It contemneth the rod of my son, 13:32 as every tree. 13:34 And he hath given it to be furbished, 13:36 that it may be handled. 13:38 This sword is sharpened, and it is furbished, 13:40 to give it into the hand of the slayer. 13:43 Cry and howl, son of man. 13:46 For it shall be upon my people, 13:48 it shall be upon all the princes of Israel, 13:50 terrors by reason of the sword 13:53 shall be upon my people, 13:55 Smite therefore upon thy thigh. 13:58 Because it is a trial, 14:00 and what if the sword contemn even the rod? 14:03 It shall be no more, saith the Lord God. 14:06 Thou therefore, son of man, prophesy, 14:09 and smite thine hands together, 14:10 and let the sword be doubled the third time, 14:12 the sword of the slain, 14:14 it is the sword of the great men that are slain, 14:16 which entereth into their privy chambers. 14:20 I have set the point of the sword 14:22 against all their gates, that their heart may faint, 14:25 and their ruins be multiplied, ah! It is made bright, 14:29 it is wrapped up for the slaughter. 14:32 Go thee one way or other, either on the right hand, 14:35 or on the left, whithersoever thy face is set. |
