00:15 Hello, and welcome to "His Words Are Life."
00:18 I'm Kelly Mowrer, and thank you for joining 00:19 with me today to read the Book of Isaiah together. 00:22 Before we start, let's pray. 00:25 Dear, Heavenly Father, please be with us now 00:28 as we read Your words and please send the Holy Spirit 00:31 to bring understanding to our hearts. 00:33 We ask this in the name of Jesus, amen. 00:37 We're reading in Isaiah Chapter 60 00:40 beginning with verse 17, 00:42 and this is the King James Version. 00:45 "For brass I will bring gold, 00:48 and for iron I will bring silver, 00:50 and for wood brass, and for stones iron, 00:54 I will also make thy officers peace, 00:57 and thine exactors righteousness. 01:00 Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, 01:03 wasting nor destruction within thy borders, 01:06 but thou shalt call thy walls Salvation, 01:10 and thy gates Praise. 01:12 The sun shall be no more thy light by day, 01:15 neither for brightness 01:16 shall the moon give light unto thee, 01:17 but the Lord shall be unto thee an everlasting light, 01:22 and thy God thy glory. 01:25 Thy sun shall no more go down, 01:27 neither shall thy moon withdraw itself, 01:29 for the Lord shall be thine everlasting light, 01:31 and the days of thy mourning shall be ended. 01:35 Thy people also shall be all righteous. 01:37 They shall inherit the land for ever, 01:40 the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, 01:43 that I may be glorified. 01:47 A little one shall become a thousand, 01:49 and a small one a strong nation. 01:52 I the Lord will hasten it in his time." 01:58 Continuing with Isaiah Chapter 61 02:00 and this is the King James Version. 02:04 "The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me. 02:07 Because the Lord hath anointed me 02:09 to preach good tidings unto the meek, 02:12 he hath sent me to bind up the broken hearted, 02:15 to proclaim liberty to the captives, 02:17 and the opening of the prison to them that are bound. 02:21 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, 02:25 and the day of vengeance of our God, 02:27 to comfort all that mourn. 02:30 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, 02:32 to give unto them beauty for ashes, 02:36 the oil of joy for mourning, 02:39 the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, 02:44 that they might be called trees of righteousness, 02:46 the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified. 02:52 And they shall build the old wastes, 02:54 they shall raise up the former desolations, 02:57 and they shall repair the waste cities, 02:59 the desolations of many generations. 03:01 And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, 03:05 and the sons of the alien shall be your plowmen 03:07 and your vinedressers. 03:09 But ye shall be named the Priests of the Lord, 03:12 men shall call you the Ministers of our God, 03:15 ye shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, 03:17 and in their glory shall ye boast yourselves. 03:20 For your shame ye shall have double, 03:23 and for confusion they shall rejoice in their portion. 03:27 Therefore in their land 03:28 they shall possess the double, 03:30 everlasting joy shall be upon them. 03:33 For I the Lord love judgment, 03:37 I hate robbery for burnt offering, 03:40 and I will direct their work in truth, and I will make 03:43 an everlasting covenant with them. 03:46 And their seed shall be known among the Gentiles, 03:49 and their offspring among the people. 03:51 All that see them shall acknowledge them, 03:54 that they are the seed which the Lord hath blessed. 03:57 I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, 04:00 my soul shall be joyful in my God, 04:03 for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, 04:07 he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, 04:10 as a bridegroom Decked himself with ornaments, 04:12 and as a bride adorned herself with her jewels. 04:16 For as the earth bring forth her bud, 04:18 and as the garden causes the things 04:20 that are sown in it to spring forth, 04:23 so the Lord, God, will cause righteousness 04:26 and praise to spring forth before all the nations." 04:31 Continuing in the Book of Isaiah, Chapter 62 04:34 and this is the King James Version. 04:38 "For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, 04:41 and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, 04:43 until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, 04:46 and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth. 04:50 And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, 04:52 and all kings thy glory. 04:54 And thou shalt be called by a new name, 04:57 which the mouth of the Lord shall name. 04:59 Thou shalt also be a crown of glory 05:01 in the hand of the Lord, 05:03 and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God. 05:06 Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken, 05:09 neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate. 05:13 But thou shalt be called Hephzibah, and thy land Beulah. 05:19 For the Lord delighted in thee, 05:20 and thy land shall be married. 05:23 For as a young man married a virgin, 05:25 so shall thy sons marry thee. 05:27 And as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, 05:31 so shall thy God rejoice over thee. 05:34 I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, 05:38 which shall never hold their peace day nor night. 05:41 Ye that make mention of the Lord, 05:43 keep not silence, And give him no rest, 05:45 till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem 05:47 a praise in the earth. 05:49 The Lord hath sworn by his right hand, 05:52 and by the arm of his strength, 05:54 surely I will no more give thy corn 05:57 to be meat for thine enemies, 05:59 and the sons of the stranger shall not drink thy wine, 06:02 for the which thou hast labored. 06:05 But they that have gathered it shall eat it, 06:07 and praise the Lord. 06:09 And they that have brought it together 06:11 shall drink it in the courts of my holiness. 06:15 Go through, go through the gates, 06:17 prepare ye the way of the people, 06:19 cast up, cast up the highway, gather out the stones, 06:23 lift up a standard for the people. 06:25 Behold, the Lord hath proclaimed 06:27 unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, 06:31 Behold, thy salvation cometh, behold, his reward is with him, 06:36 and his work before him. 06:39 And they shall call them, the holy people, 06:42 the redeemed of the Lord. 06:44 And thou shalt be called, 06:46 Sought out, a city not forsaken." 06:51 Continuing in Isaiah Chapter 63 06:54 and this is the King James Version. 06:57 "Who is this that cometh from Edom, 06:59 with dyed garments from Bozrah? 07:02 This that is glorious in his apparel, 07:04 traveling in the greatness of his strength? 07:07 I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save. 07:12 Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, 07:14 and thy garments like him that treaded in the wine fat? 07:18 I have trodden the wine press alone, 07:20 and of the people there was none with me. 07:22 For I will tread them in mine anger, 07:24 and trample them in my fury, 07:25 and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, 07:28 and I will stain all my raiment. 07:29 For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, 07:32 and the year of my redeemed is come. 07:35 And I looked, and there was none to help, 07:39 and I wondered that there was none to uphold. 07:43 Therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me, 07:45 and my fury, it upheld me. 07:48 And I will tread down the people in mine anger, 07:50 and make them drunk in my fury, 07:51 and I will bring down their strength to the earth. 07:55 I will mention the loving kindnesses of the Lord, 07:57 and the praises of the Lord, according to all 08:00 that the Lord hath bestowed on us, 08:01 and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, 08:04 which he hath bestowed on them 08:06 according to his mercies, and according to the multitude 08:09 of his loving kindnesses. 08:11 For he said, "Surely they are my people, 08:15 children that will not lie. So he was their Savior." 08:19 In all their affliction he was afflicted, 08:22 and the angel of his presence saved them, 08:25 in his love and in his pity he redeemed them, 08:30 and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old. 08:34 But they rebelled, and vexed his Holy Spirit. 08:38 Therefore he was turned to be their enemy, 08:40 and he fought against them. 08:42 Then he remembered the days of old, 08:44 Moses, and his people, saying, 08:47 "Where is he that brought them up 08:48 out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? 08:51 Where is he that put his Holy Spirit within him?' 08:53 That led them by the right hand of Moses 08:55 with his glorious arm, dividing the water before them, 08:58 to make himself an everlasting name? 09:00 That led them through the deep, 09:02 as an horse in the wilderness, that they should not stumble? 09:05 As a beast goeth down into the valley, 09:07 the Spirit of the Lord, caused him to rest. 09:09 So didst thou lead thy people, 09:11 to make thyself a glorious name. 09:14 Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation 09:18 of thy holiness and of thy glory. 09:20 Where is thy zeal and thy strength, 09:23 the sounding of thy bowels and of thy mercies toward me? 09:26 Are they restrained? 09:28 Doubtless thou art our Father, 09:32 though Abraham be ignorant of us, 09:33 and Israel acknowledge us not. 09:36 Thou, O Lord, art our Father, 09:39 our redeemer, thy name is from everlasting. 09:43 O Lord, why hast thou made us to err from thy ways, 09:47 and hardened our heart from thy fear? 09:50 Return for thy servants' sake, 09:53 the tribes of thine inheritance. 09:56 The people of thy holiness have possessed it 09:58 but a little while. 10:00 Our adversaries have trodden down thy sanctuary. 10:04 We are thine, thou never barest rule over them, 10:08 they were not called by thy name." 10:12 Continuing in Isaiah Chapter 64 10:14 and this is the King James Version. 10:18 "Oh, that thou wouldst rend the heavens 10:21 that thou wouldst come down, 10:22 that the mountains might flow down at thy presence, 10:25 as when the melting fire burneth, 10:27 the fire caused the waters to boil, 10:29 to make thy name known to thine adversaries, 10:31 that the nations may tremble at thy presence! 10:34 When thou didst terrible things 10:36 which we looked not for, thou camest down, 10:39 the mountains flowed down at thy presence. 10:41 For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, 10:44 nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, 10:48 O God, beside thee, 10:50 what he hath prepared for him that waited for him. 10:53 Thou meetest him that rejoiceth 10:56 and worketh righteousness, 10:58 those that remember thee in thy ways. 11:00 Behold, thou art wroth, for we have sinned, 11:05 in those is continuance, and we shall be saved. 11:09 But we are all as an unclean thing, 11:12 and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags, 11:17 and we all do fade as a leaf, and our iniquities, 11:20 like the wind, have taken us away. 11:23 And there is none that calleth upon thy name, 11:25 that stirred up himself to take hold of thee, 11:28 for thou hast hid thy face from us, 11:30 and hast consumed us, because of our iniquities. 11:34 But now, O Lord, thou art our Father, 11:38 we are the clay, and thou our potter, 11:42 and we all are the work of thy hand. 11:46 Be not wroth very sore, O Lord, 11:49 neither remember iniquity for ever. 11:52 Behold, see, we beseech thee, we are all thy people. 11:58 Thy holy cities are a wilderness, 12:00 Zion is a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation. 12:03 Our holy and our beautiful house, 12:05 where our fathers praised thee, 12:07 is burned up with fire. 12:09 And all our pleasant things are laid waste. 12:12 Wilt thou refrain thyself for these things, O Lord? 12:16 Wilt thou hold thy peace, and afflict us very sore?" 12:22 Continuing in Isaiah, Chapter 65 12:24 and this is the King James Version. 12:28 "I am sought of them that asked not for me, 12:32 I am found of them that sought me not. 12:36 I said, behold me, behold me, 12:40 unto a nation that was not called by my name. 12:45 I've spread out my hands 12:46 all the day unto a rebellious people, 12:49 which walketh in a way that was not good, 12:51 after their own thoughts, a people that provoketh me 12:54 to anger continually to my face, 12:56 that sacrificeth in gardens, 12:59 and burneth incense upon altars of brick. 13:01 Which remain among the graves, 13:03 and lodge in the monuments, which eat swine's flesh, 13:06 and broth of abominable things is in their vessels, 13:10 which say, stand by thyself, come not near to me, 13:14 for I am holier than thou. 13:16 These are a smoke in my nose, 13:19 a fire that burneth all the day. 13:21 Behold, it is written before me. 13:23 I will not keep silence, but will recompense, 13:27 even recompense into their bosom, your iniquities, 13:31 and the iniquities of your fathers together, 13:33 said the Lord, which have burned incense 13:36 upon the mountains 13:37 and blasphemed me upon the hills. 13:40 Therefore will I measure 13:41 their former work into their bosom. 13:44 Thus saith the Lord, as the new wine is found 13:48 in the cluster, and one saith, 13:51 destroy it not, for a blessing is in it. 13:54 So will I do for my servants' sakes, 13:57 that I may not destroy them all. 14:00 And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob, 14:03 and out of Judah an inheritor of my mountains. 14:07 And mine elect shall inherit it, 14:09 and my servants shall dwell there. 14:12 And Sharon shall be a fold of flocks, 14:15 and the valley of Achor 14:17 a place for the herds to lie down, 14:20 for my people that have sought me. 14:22 But ye are they that forsake the Lord, 14:25 that forget my holy mountain, 14:26 that prepare a table for that troop, 14:29 and that furnish the drink offering unto that number. 14:33 Therefore will I number you to the sword, 14:36 and ye shall all bow down to the slaughter." |
