00:15 Hello and welcome back to His Words Are Life.
00:17 I am Kelly Mowrer and thank you for joining with me 00:20 today to read the Bible together. 00:22 Before we start let's pray. 00:25 Dear heavenly Father, we thank you again 00:28 for bringing us to this time with You 00:31 to hear Your words which are life, 00:34 and which give us direction and light the way 00:36 that we should walk in and give us wisdom, 00:39 give us bread for our souls. 00:41 Please be with us now as we read, amen. 00:45 We're picking up in the Book of Isaiah, 00:47 Chapter 20, starting in verse 4, 00:50 this is the King James Version. 00:54 "So shall the king of Assyria lead away 00:56 the Egyptians prisoners, and the Ethiopians captives, 01:00 young and old, naked and barefoot, 01:02 even with their buttocks uncovered, 01:05 to the shame of Egypt. 01:07 And they shall be afraid and ashamed of Ethiopia 01:09 their expectation, and of Egypt their glory. 01:13 And the inhabitant of this isle shall say in that day, 01:17 Behold, such is our expectation, 01:20 whither we flee for help to be delivered 01:23 from the king of Assyria, and how shall we escape?" 01:27 Continuing now with Isaiah Chapter 21, 01:30 this is the King James Version. 01:33 "The burden of the desert of the sea. 01:37 As whirlwinds in the south pass through, 01:41 so it cometh from the desert, from a terrible land. 01:45 A grievous vision is declared unto me, 01:48 the treacherous dealer dealeth treacherously, 01:51 and the spoiler spoileth. 01:53 Go up, O Elam, besiege, O Media, 01:58 all the sighing thereof have I made to cease. 02:02 Therefore are my loins filled with pain, 02:05 pangs have taken hold upon me, 02:07 as the pangs of a woman that travaileth, 02:11 I was bowed down at the hearing of it, 02:14 I was dismayed at the seeing of it. 02:18 My heart panted, fearfulness affrighted me, 02:22 the night of my pleasure hath he turned into fear unto me. 02:27 Prepare the table, watch in the watchtower, 02:30 eat, drink, arise, ye princes, 02:33 and anoint the shield. 02:35 For thus hath the Lord said unto me, 02:37 'Go, set a watchman, 02:40 let him declare what he seeth.' 02:43 And he saw a chariot with a couple of horsemen, 02:46 a chariot of asses, and a chariot of camels, 02:49 and he hearkened diligently with much heed, 02:51 And he cried, A lion, My lord, 02:54 I stand continually 02:55 upon the watchtower in the daytime, 02:56 and I am set in my ward whole nights, 02:59 And, behold, here cometh a chariot of men, 03:02 with a couple of horsemen. 03:05 And he answered and said, 03:07 'Babylon is fallen, is fallen, 03:10 and all the graven images of her gods 03:13 he hath broken unto the ground. 03:16 O my threshing, and the corn of my floor, 03:20 that which I have heard of the Lord of hosts, 03:22 the God of Israel, have I declared unto you.' 03:26 The burden of Dumah. 03:29 He calleth to me out of Seir, 03:31 'Watchman, what of the night?' 03:33 'Watchman, what of the night?' 03:37 The watchman said, 'The morning cometh, 03:40 and also the night, if ye will enquire, 03:43 enquire ye, return, come.' 03:48 The burden upon Arabia. 03:52 In the forest in Arabia shall ye lodge, 03:54 O ye travelling companies of Dedanim. 03:57 The inhabitants of the land of Tema 03:59 brought water to him that was thirsty, 04:02 they prevented with their bread him that fled. 04:06 For they fled from the swords, 04:07 from the drawn sword, and from the bent bow, 04:09 and from the grievousness of war. 04:11 For thus hath the Lord said unto me, 04:13 Within a year, 04:14 according to the years of an hireling, 04:16 and all the glory of Kedar shall fail, 04:20 And the residue of the number of archers, 04:23 the mighty men of the children of Kedar, 04:24 shall be diminished, 04:26 for the Lord God of Israel hath spoken it." 04:30 Continuing with Isaiah Chapter 22, 04:32 this is the King James Version. 04:35 "The burden of the valley of vision. 04:40 What aileth thee now, 04:41 that thou art wholly gone up to the housetops? 04:46 Thou that art full of stirs, a tumultuous city, 04:50 a joyous city, 04:51 thy slain men are not slain with the sword, 04:53 nor dead in battle. 04:55 All thy rulers are fled together, 04:57 they are bound by the archers, 04:59 all that are found in thee are bound together, 05:02 which have fled from far. 05:05 Therefore said I, Look away from me, 05:08 I will weep bitterly, labour not to comfort me, 05:11 because of the spoiling 05:13 of the daughter of my people. 05:15 For it is a day of trouble, and of treading down, 05:18 and of perplexity by the Lord God of hosts 05:21 in the valley of vision, breaking down the walls, 05:25 and of crying to the mountains. 05:28 And Elam bare the quiver 05:29 with chariots of men and horsemen, 05:31 and Kir uncovered the shield. 05:34 And it shall come to pass, 05:36 that thy choicest valleys shall be full of chariots, 05:38 and the horsemen shall set themselves 05:41 in array at the gate. 05:43 And he discovered the covering of Judah, 05:46 and thou didst look in that day 05:48 to the armour of the house of the forest. 05:49 Ye have seen also 05:51 the breaches of the city of David, 05:53 that they are many, and ye gathered 05:56 together the waters of the lower pool. 05:58 And ye have numbered the houses of Jerusalem, 05:59 and the houses have ye broken down 06:02 to fortify the wall. 06:03 Ye made also a ditch between the two walls 06:05 for the water of the old pool, 06:07 but ye have not looked unto the maker thereof, 06:10 neither had respect unto him 06:12 that fashioned it long ago. 06:15 And in that day did the Lord God of hosts 06:17 call to weeping, and to mourning, 06:19 and to baldness, 06:20 and to girding with sackcloth. 06:23 And behold joy and gladness, slaying oxen, 06:26 and killing sheep, eating flesh, 06:28 and drinking wine, let us eat and drink, 06:31 for tomorrow we shall die. 06:34 And it was revealed in mine ears 06:35 by the Lord of hosts, 06:37 Surely this iniquity shall not be purged from you 06:39 till ye die, saith the Lord God of hosts. 06:43 Thus saith the Lord God of hosts, 06:45 'Go, get thee unto this treasurer, 06:48 even unto Shebna, which is over the house,' 06:50 and say, 'What hast thou here? 06:52 and whom hast thou here,' 06:54 that thou hast hewed thee out a sepulchre here, 06:57 as he that heweth him out a sepulchre on high, 07:00 and that graveth an habitation 07:02 for himself in a rock? 07:04 Behold, the Lord will carry thee away 07:06 with a mighty captivity, and will surely cover thee. 07:10 He will surely violently turn and toss thee 07:12 like a ball into a large country, 07:15 there shalt thou die, 07:16 and there the chariots of thy glory 07:17 shall be the shame of thy lord's house. 07:20 And I will drive thee from thy station, 07:22 and from thy state shall he pull thee down. 07:25 And it shall come to pass in that day, 07:28 that I will call my servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, 07:33 And I will clothe him with thy robe, 07:35 and strengthen him with thy girdle, 07:36 and I will commit thy government into his hand, 07:39 and he shall be a father 07:41 to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, 07:42 and to the house of Judah. 07:44 And the key of the house of David 07:46 will I lay upon his shoulder, 07:48 so he shall open, and none shall shut, 07:52 and he shall shut, and none shall open. 07:55 And I will fasten him as a nail in a sure place, 07:58 and he shall be for a glorious throne 08:01 to his father's house. 08:03 And they shall hang upon him 08:05 all the glory of his father's house, 08:07 the offspring and the issue, 08:09 all vessels of small quantity, 08:11 from the vessels of cups, 08:12 even to all the vessels of flagons. 08:15 In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, 08:18 shall the nail that is fastened 08:19 in the sure place be removed, 08:21 and be cut down, and fall, 08:22 and the burden that was upon it 08:24 shall be cut off, for the Lord hath spoken it." 08:29 Continuing in the Book of Isaiah, 08:30 Chapter 23, this is the King James Version. 08:35 "The burden of Tyre. 08:37 Howl, ye ships of Tarshish, 08:40 for it is laid waste, so that there is no house, 08:42 no entering in, 08:44 from the land of Chittim it is revealed to them. 08:47 Be still, ye inhabitants of the isle, 08:50 thou whom the merchants of Zidon, 08:52 that pass over the sea, have replenished. 08:56 And by great waters the seed of Sihor, 08:58 the harvest of the river, is her revenue, 09:00 and she is a mart of nations. 09:03 Be thou ashamed, O Zidon, 09:05 for the sea hath spoken, 09:07 even the strength of the sea, saying, 09:09 I travail not, nor bring forth children, 09:12 neither do I nourish up young men, 09:13 nor bring up virgins. 09:15 As at the report concerning Egypt, 09:18 so shall they be sorely pained 09:21 at the report of Tyre. 09:23 Pass ye over to Tarshish, howl, 09:25 ye inhabitants of the isle. 09:28 Is this your joyous city, 09:30 whose antiquity is of ancient days? 09:33 Her own feet shall carry her afar off to sojourn. 09:38 Who hath taken this counsel against Tyre, 09:41 the crowning city, whose merchants are princes, 09:43 whose traffickers are the honourable of the earth? 09:47 The Lord of hosts hath purposed it, 09:49 to stain the pride of all glory, 09:52 and to bring into contempt 09:54 all the honourable of the earth. 09:57 Pass through thy land as a river, 09:59 O daughter of Tarshish, 10:01 there is no more strength. 10:03 He stretched out his hand over the sea, 10:05 he shook the kingdoms, 10:07 the Lord hath given a commandment 10:08 against the merchant city, 10:09 to destroy the strong holds thereof. 10:11 And he said, Thou shalt no more rejoice, 10:14 O thou oppressed virgin, daughter of Zidon, 10:17 arise, pass over to Chittim, 10:19 there also shalt thou have no rest. 10:23 Behold the land of the Chaldeans, 10:25 this people was not, 10:26 till the Assyrian founded it for them 10:28 that dwell in the wilderness, 10:30 they set up the towers thereof, 10:32 they raised up the palaces thereof, 10:34 and he brought it to ruin. 10:36 Howl, ye ships of Tarshish, 10:38 for your strength is laid waste. 10:40 And it shall come to pass in that day, 10:42 that Tyre shall be forgotten seventy years, 10:45 according to the days of one king, 10:48 after the end of seventy years 10:50 shall Tyre sing as an harlot. 10:53 Take an harp, go about the city, 10:56 thou harlot that hast been forgotten, 10:59 make sweet melody, sing many songs, 11:01 that thou mayest be remembered. 11:04 And it shall come to pass 11:05 after the end of seventy years, 11:07 that the Lord will visit Tyre, 11:09 and she shall turn to her hire, 11:11 and shall commit fornication 11:13 with all the kingdoms of the world 11:15 upon the face of the earth. 11:16 And her merchandise and her hire 11:19 shall be holiness to the Lord, 11:21 it shall not be treasured nor laid up, 11:24 for her merchandise shall be for them 11:25 that dwell before the Lord, 11:27 to eat sufficiently, and for durable clothing." 11:33 Continuing in Isaiah Chapter 24, 11:35 and this is the King James Version. 11:39 "Behold, the Lord maketh the earth empty, 11:42 and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, 11:45 and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof. 11:49 And it shall be, as with the people, 11:52 so with the priest, as with the servant, 11:55 so with his master, as with the maid, 11:58 so with her mistress, as with the buyer, 12:00 so with the seller, as with the lender, 12:03 so with the borrower, as with the taker of usury, 12:07 so with the giver of usury to him. 12:10 The land shall be utterly emptied, 12:11 and utterly spoiled, 12:12 for the Lord hath spoken this word. 12:16 The earth mourneth and fadeth away, 12:18 the world languisheth and fadeth away, 12:21 the haughty people of the earth do languish. 12:24 The earth also is defiled 12:25 under the inhabitants thereof, 12:27 because they have transgressed the laws, 12:29 changed the ordinance, 12:31 broken the everlasting covenant. 12:34 Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, 12:36 and they that dwell therein are desolate, 12:39 therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, 12:41 and few men left. 12:43 The new wine mourneth, the vine languisheth, 12:46 all the merryhearted do sigh. 12:49 The mirth of tabrets ceaseth, 12:52 the noise of them that rejoice endeth, 12:54 the joy of the harp ceaseth. 12:56 They shall not drink wine with a song, 12:58 strong drink shall be bitter to them that drink it. 13:02 The city of confusion is broken down, 13:04 every house is shut up, that no man may come in. 13:08 There is a crying for wine in the streets, 13:10 all joy is darkened, 13:12 the mirth of the land is gone. 13:14 In the city is left desolation, 13:15 and the gate is smitten with destruction. 13:18 When thus it shall be in the midst of the land 13:20 among the people, 13:21 there shall be as the shaking of an olive tree, 13:24 and as the gleaning grapes 13:25 when the vintage is done. 13:28 They shall lift up their voice, 13:29 they shall sing for the majesty of the Lord, 13:31 they shall cry aloud from the sea. 13:34 Wherefore glorify ye the Lord in the fires, 13:37 even the name of the Lord God of Israel 13:39 in the isles of the sea. 13:41 From the uttermost part of the earth 13:42 have we heard songs, 13:44 even glory to the righteous. 13:47 But I said, My leanness, my leanness, 13:50 woe unto me! 13:51 the treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously, 13:54 yea, the treacherous dealers have dealt 13:56 very treacherously. 13:58 Fear, and the pit, and the snare, 14:01 are upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth. 14:04 And it shall come to pass, 14:06 that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear 14:09 shall fall into the pit, 14:11 and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit 14:13 shall be taken in the snare, 14:14 for the windows from on high are open, 14:17 and the foundations of the earth do shake. 14:20 The earth is utterly broken down, 14:21 the earth is clean dissolved, 14:24 the earth is moved exceedingly. 14:26 The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, 14:30 and shall be removed like a cottage, 14:32 and the transgression thereof 14:34 shall be heavy upon it, 14:36 and it shall fall, and not rise again." |
