00:15 Hello and welcome back to His Words Are Life.
00:18 I am Kelly Mowrer, and today 00:19 we are going to continue reading together in Isaiah. 00:22 But let's pray before we start. 00:24 Dear Father in heaven, thank you so much 00:26 for these beautiful words that You have preserved for us 00:30 down through the centuries. 00:32 Now please send Your Holy Spirit 00:34 to bring understanding to our hearts 00:36 as we read them today 00:38 and may they be a light to our path 00:40 and guide us in the way You would have us to walk. 00:43 We love you so much 00:44 and thank you for loving us, amen. 00:47 Reading in the book of Isaiah Chapter 10 00:50 beginning with verse 33 00:52 and this is the King James Version. 00:55 "Behold, the Lord, the Lord of hosts, 00:59 shall lop the bough with terror, 01:02 and the high ones of stature shall be hewn down, 01:05 and the haughty one shall be humbled. 01:07 And he shall cut down the thickets 01:09 of the forest with iron, 01:11 and Lebanon shall fall by a mighty one. 01:15 We're continuing with Isaiah Chapter 11, 01:17 this is the King James Version. 01:20 And there shall come forth a rod 01:23 out of the stem of Jesse, 01:25 and a Branch shall grow out of his roots, 01:28 and the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, 01:31 the spirit of wisdom and understanding, 01:34 the spirit of counsel and might, 01:36 the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord, 01:40 and shall make him of quick understanding 01:43 in the fear of the Lord, 01:44 and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, 01:47 neither reprove after the hearing of his ears, 01:49 but with righteousness shall he judge the poor, 01:52 and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth, 01:56 and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, 01:59 and with the breath of his lips 02:00 shall he slay the wicked. 02:02 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, 02:05 and faithfulness the girdle of his reins. 02:08 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, 02:11 and the leopard shall lie down with the kid, 02:13 and the calf and the young lion 02:15 and the fatling together, 02:17 and a little child shall lead them. 02:20 And the cow and the bear shall feed, 02:22 their young ones shall lie down together, 02:25 and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. 02:29 And the sucking child 02:30 shall play on the hole of the asp, 02:32 and the weaned child 02:33 shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den. 02:37 They shall not hurt 02:38 nor destroy in all my holy mountain, 02:41 for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, 02:45 as the waters cover the sea. 02:47 And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, 02:50 which shall stand for an ensign of the people, 02:54 to it shall the Gentiles seek, 02:56 and his rest shall be glorious. 02:59 And it shall come to pass in that day, 03:00 that the Lord shall set his hand 03:02 again the second time 03:04 to recover the remnant of his people, 03:06 which shall be left, from Assyria, 03:08 and from Egypt, and from Pathros, 03:10 and from Cush, and from Elam, 03:11 and from Shinar, and from Hamath, 03:13 and from the islands of the sea. 03:16 And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, 03:17 and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, 03:20 and shall gather together the dispersed of Judah 03:23 from the four corners of the earth. 03:26 The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, 03:29 and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off, 03:33 Ephraim shall not envy Judah, 03:35 and Judah shall not vex Ephraim. 03:38 But they shall fly upon the shoulders 03:40 of the Philistines toward the west, 03:42 they shall spoil them of the east together, 03:45 they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab, 03:47 and the children of Ammon shall obey them. 03:50 And the Lord shall utterly destroy 03:52 the tongue of the Egyptian sea, 03:54 and with his mighty wind 03:56 shall he shake his hand over the river, 03:58 and shall smite it in the seven streams, 04:01 and make men go over dryshod. 04:04 And there shall be an highway 04:06 for the remnant of his people, 04:07 which shall be left, from Assyria, 04:10 like as it was to Israel in the day 04:12 that he came up out of the land of Egypt." 04:16 Continuing in Isaiah, Chapter 12, 04:19 this is the King James Version. 04:22 "And in that day thou shalt say, 04:23 O Lord, I will praise thee, 04:27 though thou wast angry with me, 04:29 thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedst me. 04:33 Behold, God is my salvation, 04:37 I will trust, and not be afraid, 04:40 for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song, 04:45 he also is become my salvation. 04:48 Therefore with joy shall ye draw water 04:52 out of the wells of salvation. 04:54 And in that day shall ye say, 04:56 Praise the Lord, call upon his name, 04:59 declare his doings among the people, 05:02 make mention that his name is exalted. 05:04 Sing unto the Lord, 05:06 for he hath done excellent things, 05:08 this is known in all the earth. 05:11 Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion, 05:14 for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee." 05:19 Continuing with Isaiah, Chapter 13, 05:21 this is the King James Version. 05:24 "The burden of Babylon, 05:25 which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see. 05:28 Lift ye up a banner upon the high mountain, 05:31 exalt the voice unto them, shake the hand, 05:34 that they may go into the gates of the nobles. 05:37 I have commanded my sanctified ones, 05:39 I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, 05:43 even them that rejoice in my highness. 05:46 The noise of a multitude in the mountains, 05:49 like as of a great people, 05:51 a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations 05:54 gathered together, 05:56 the Lord of hosts mustereth the host of the battle. 06:00 They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, 06:04 even the Lord, and the weapons 06:05 of his indignation, to destroy the whole land. 06:09 Howl ye, for the day of the Lord is at hand, 06:13 it shall come as a destruction 06:15 from the Almighty. 06:17 Therefore shall all hands be faint, 06:20 and every man's heart shall melt, 06:22 and they shall be afraid, 06:24 pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them, 06:27 they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth, 06:30 they shall be amazed one at another, 06:33 their faces shall be as flames. 06:36 Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, 06:40 cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, 06:43 to lay the land desolate, 06:44 and he shall destroy the sinners 06:46 thereof out of it. 06:49 For the stars of heaven and the constellations 06:51 thereof shall not give their light, 06:54 the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, 06:56 and the moon shall not cause her light to shine. 06:59 And I will punish the world for their evil, 07:02 and the wicked for their iniquity, 07:04 and I will cause the arrogancy 07:06 of the proud to cease, 07:08 and will lay low 07:09 the haughtiness of the terrible. 07:13 I will make a man more precious than fine gold, 07:17 even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir. 07:21 Therefore I will shake the heavens, 07:22 and the earth shall remove out of her place, 07:26 in the wrath of the Lord of hosts, 07:28 and in the day of his fierce anger. 07:30 And it shall be as the chased roe, 07:33 and as a sheep that no man taketh up, 07:36 they shall every man turn to his own people, 07:38 and flee every one into his own land. 07:40 Every one that is found shall be thrust through, 07:43 and every one that is joined unto them 07:45 shall fall by the sword. 07:48 Their children also shall be dashed to pieces 07:51 before their eyes, 07:52 their houses shall be spoiled, 07:54 and their wives ravished. 07:56 Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, 08:00 which shall not regard silver, 08:02 and as for gold, they shall not delight in it. 08:06 Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces, 08:09 and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb, 08:11 their eye shall not spare children. 08:14 And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, 08:17 the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, 08:19 shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. 08:24 It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt 08:28 in from generation to generation, 08:31 neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there, 08:34 neither shall the shepherds make their fold there. 08:37 But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there, 08:40 and their houses shall be full 08:42 of doleful creatures, and owls shall dwell there, 08:46 and satyrs shall dance there. 08:48 And the wild beasts of the islands 08:50 shall cry in their desolate houses, 08:52 and dragons in their pleasant palaces, 08:55 and her time is near to come, 08:58 and her days shall not be prolonged." 09:03 Continuing with Isaiah, Chapter 14, 09:05 this is the King James Version. 09:08 "For the Lord will have mercy on Jacob, 09:11 and will yet choose Israel, 09:13 and set them in their own land, 09:16 and the strangers shall be joined with them, 09:18 and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob. 09:21 And the people shall take them, 09:22 and bring them to their place, 09:23 and the house of Israel shall possess them 09:25 in the land of the Lord for servants and handmaids, 09:28 and they shall take them captives, 09:30 whose captives they were, 09:32 and they shall rule over their oppressors. 09:34 And it shall come to pass in the day 09:36 that the Lord shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, 09:40 and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage 09:43 wherein thou wast made to serve, 09:46 that thou shalt take up this proverb 09:48 against the king of Babylon, 09:49 and say, 'How hath the oppressor ceased! 09:53 The golden city ceased!' 09:56 The Lord hath broken the staff of the wicked, 09:58 and the sceptre of the rulers. 10:00 He who smote the people 10:02 in wrath with a continual stroke, 10:05 he that ruled the nations in anger, 10:08 is persecuted, and none hindereth. 10:12 The whole earth is at rest, 10:13 and is quiet, they break forth into singing. 10:17 Yea, the fir trees rejoice at thee, 10:19 and the cedars of Lebanon, 10:20 saying, Since thou art laid down, 10:22 no feller is come up against us. 10:26 Hell from beneath is moved for thee 10:28 to meet thee at thy coming, 10:30 it stirreth up the dead for thee, 10:33 even all the chief ones of the earth, 10:35 it hath raised up 10:36 from their thrones all the kings of the nations. 10:39 All they shall speak and say unto thee, 10:42 Art thou also become weak as we? 10:44 Art thou become like unto us? 10:47 Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, 10:50 and the noise of thy viols, 10:53 the worm is spread under thee, 10:54 and the worms cover thee. 10:57 How art thou fallen from heaven, 10:59 O Lucifer, son of the morning! 11:01 How art thou cut down to the ground, 11:04 which didst weaken the nations! 11:06 For thou hast said in thine heart, 11:09 I will ascend into heaven, 11:11 I will exalt my throne above the stars of God, 11:14 I will sit also 11:15 upon the mount of the congregation, 11:17 in the sides of the north, 11:19 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, 11:22 I will be like the most High. 11:26 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, 11:28 to the sides of the pit. 11:31 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, 11:35 and consider thee, saying, 11:37 Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, 11:40 that did shake kingdoms, 11:42 that made the world as a wilderness, 11:44 and destroyed the cities thereof, 11:45 that opened not the house of his prisoners? 11:49 All the kings of the nations, even all of them, 11:52 lie in glory, every one in his own house. 11:56 But thou art cast out of thy grave 11:59 like an abominable branch, 12:01 and as the raiment of those that are slain, 12:04 thrust through with a sword, 12:05 that go down to the stones of the pit, 12:07 as a carcase trodden under feet. 12:11 Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, 12:13 because thou hast destroyed thy land, 12:14 and slain thy people, 12:17 the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned. 12:20 Prepare slaughter for his children 12:22 for the iniquity of their fathers, 12:24 that they do not rise, nor possess the land, 12:26 nor fill the face of the world with cities. 12:29 For I will rise up against them, 12:31 saith the Lord of hosts, 12:33 and cut off from Babylon the name, 12:36 and remnant, and son, 12:38 and nephew, saith the Lord. 12:42 I will also make it a possession for the bittern, 12:44 and pools of water, 12:45 and I will sweep it with the besom of destruction, 12:48 saith the Lord of hosts. 12:50 The Lord of hosts hath sworn, saying, 12:51 Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass, 12:56 and as I have purposed, so shall it stand, 13:01 that I will break the Assyrian in my land, 13:03 and upon my mountains tread him under foot, 13:06 then shall his yoke depart from off them, 13:08 and his burden depart from off their shoulders. 13:11 This is the purpose 13:12 that is purposed upon the whole earth, 13:15 and this is the hand 13:16 that is stretched out upon all the nations. 13:18 For the Lord of hosts hath purposed, 13:20 and who shall disannul it? 13:22 And his hand is stretched out, 13:24 and who shall turn it back? 13:27 In the year that king Ahaz died was this burden. 13:31 Rejoice not thou, whole Palestina, 13:35 because the rod of him that smote thee is broken, 13:37 for out of the serpent's root 13:39 shall come forth a cockatrice, 13:40 and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent. 13:44 And the firstborn of the poor shall feed, 13:46 and the needy shall lie down in safety, 13:48 and I will kill thy root with famine, 13:51 and he shall slay thy remnant. 13:53 Howl, O gate, cry, O city, thou, 13:58 whole Palestina, art dissolved, 14:01 for there shall come from the north a smoke, 14:04 and none shall be alone in his appointed times. 14:08 What shall one then answer the messengers of the nation? 14:12 That the Lord hath founded Zion, 14:14 and the poor of his people shall trust in it." 14:19 Thank you for joining with me today 14:21 to read the word of God together 14:23 and as we think about the captivity of the people 14:26 in those days and how they needed 14:29 the Lord of hosts to set them free. 14:31 May we also realize again the freedom 14:33 that Jesus purchased for each of us 14:38 and that we always need in our lives today. Good bye. |
