00:16 Hello and welcome back to His Words Are Life,
00:18 I'm Kelly Mawrer and today we will be reading, continuing 00:21 in the book of Proverbs together. 00:23 But before we start let's pray. 00:24 Dear heavenly Father thank you for the wisdom that You 00:28 have provided for us that we will be reading today. 00:33 Please send the Holy Spirit that as we hear these words 00:36 You will show us the application that You have for them 00:40 in our own lives. 00:41 We love You so much and thank You for loving us. Amen! 00:45 We are beginning in Proverbs chapter 30 with verse 29 00:50 and this is the King James version. 00:52 There be three things which go well, yea, four are 00:57 comely in going: 00:59 A lion which is the strongest among beasts, 01:02 and turneth not a way for any; 01:04 A Greyhound; an he goat also; and a king, against 01:10 whom there is no rising up. 01:12 If thou has done foolishly in lifting up thyself, 01:16 or if thou hast thought evil, lay thine hand upon thy mouth. 01:21 Surely the churning of milk bringeth forth butter, 01:24 and the wringing of the nose bringeth forth blood: 01:28 so the forcing of wrath bringeth forth strife. 01:31 And now Proverbs 31 and this is the King James version. 01:36 The words of King Lemuel the prophecy that 01:40 his mother taught him. 01:42 What, my son? And what, the son of my womb? 01:46 And what, the son of my vows? 01:48 Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to 01:51 that which destroyeth kings. 01:54 It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings 01:57 to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink: 02:00 Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert 02:05 the judgment of any of the afflicted. 02:07 Give strong drink unto him that is ready to parish 02:11 and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts. 02:14 Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember 02:18 his misery no more. 02:19 Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such 02:24 as are pointed to destruction. 02:27 Opened thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the 02:31 cause of the poor and the needy. 02:34 Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price 02:38 is far above rubies. 02:40 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, 02:44 so that he shall have no need of spoil. 02:47 She will do him good and not evil all the 02:51 days of her life. 02:52 She's seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly 02:56 with her hands. 02:57 She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth 02:59 her food from afar. 03:01 She risesth also while it is yet night, 03:04 and giveth meat to her household and a portion to her maidens. 03:08 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the 03:12 fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. 03:15 She girdeth her loins with strength, and 03:18 strengtheneth her arms. 03:20 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her 03:24 candle goeth not out by night. 03:27 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands 03:30 hold the distaff. 03:31 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, 03:33 she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. 03:36 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: 03:40 for all her household are clothed with scarlet. 03:44 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; 03:47 her clothing is silk and purple. 03:49 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth 03:53 among the elders of the land. 03:55 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and 03:58 delivereth girdles unto the merchant. 04:01 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall 04:06 rejoice in time to come. 04:08 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in 04:12 her tongue is the law of kindness. 04:16 She looketh well to the ways of her household, 04:18 and eateth not the bread of idleness. 04:22 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; 04:25 her husband also, and he praiseth her. 04:29 Many daughters have done virtuously, 04:32 but thou excellest them all. 04:34 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but 04:40 a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. 04:44 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her 04:48 own works praise her in the gates. 04:53 We are beginning now in the book of Ecclesiastes 04:56 Chapter 1 and this is the King James version. 04:59 The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem. 05:04 Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of 05:07 vanities; all is vanity. 05:09 What profit hath a man of all his labour which 05:13 he taketh under the sun? 05:15 One generation passeth away, and another generation 05:18 cometh: but the earth abideth for ever. 05:21 The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and 05:25 hasteth to his place where he arose. 05:27 The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about 05:30 unto the north; it whirleth about continually, and the 05:33 wind returneth again according to his circuits. 05:36 All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not 05:40 full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, 05:43 thither they return again. 05:45 All things are full of labour; man cannot utter it: 05:50 the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor 05:54 the ear filled with hearing. 05:55 The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; 06:00 and that which is done is that which shall be done: and 06:04 there is no new thing under the sun. 06:07 Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this 06:12 is new? it hath been already of old time, 06:15 which was before us. 06:17 There is no remembrance of former things; neither 06:19 shall there be any remembrance of things that are to 06:22 come with those that shall come after. 06:24 I the Preacher was king over Israel in Jerusalem. 06:28 And I gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom 06:32 concerning all things that are done under heaven: 06:35 this sore travail hath God given to the sons of man 06:39 to be exercised therewith. 06:41 I have seen all the works that are done under the 06:44 sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit. 06:47 That which is crooked cannot be made straight: 06:51 and that which is wanting cannot be numbered. 06:54 I communed with mine own heart, saying, Lo, 06:57 I am come to great estate, and have gotten more wisdom 07:00 than all they that have been before me in Jerusalem: 07:03 yea, my heart had great experience 07:05 of wisdom and knowledge. 07:07 And I gave my heart to know wisdom, and to know 07:10 madness and folly: I perceived that this 07:12 also is vexation of spirit. 07:14 For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that 07:19 increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow. 07:22 Continuing in the book of Ecclesiastes Chapter 2 and 07:27 this is the King James version. 07:28 I said in mine heart, Go to now, I will prove thee 07:33 with mirth, therefore enjoy pleasure: and, behold, 07:38 this also is vanity. 07:40 I said of laughter, It is mad: and of mirth, 07:44 What doeth it? 07:46 I sought in mine heart to give myself unto wine, 07:50 yet acquainting mine heart with wisdom; and to lay hold 07:53 on folly, till I might see what was that good for the 07:57 sons of men, which they should do under the heaven all 08:00 the days of their life. 08:01 I made me great works; I builded me houses; 08:05 planted me vineyards: 08:06 I made me gardens and orchards, and I planted trees 08:09 in them of all kind of fruits: 08:11 I made me pools of water, to water therewith the wood 08:15 that bringeth forth trees: 08:16 I got me servants and maidens, and had servants born 08:20 in my house; also I had great possessions of great and 08:24 small cattle above all that were in Jerusalem before me: 08:28 I gathered me also silver and gold, and the peculiar 08:32 treasure of kings and of the provinces: I gat me men 08:36 singers and women singers, and the delights of the sons 08:40 of men, as musical instruments, and that of all sorts. 08:44 So I was great, and increased more than all that were 08:49 before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me. 08:53 And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from 08:56 them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for 09:01 my heart rejoiced in all my labour: and this was my 09:05 portion of all my labour. 09:07 Then I looked on all the works that my hands had 09:10 wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: 09:15 and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, 09:19 and there was no profit under the sun. 09:22 And I turned myself to behold wisdom, and madness, 09:26 and folly: for what can the man do that cometh after the 09:29 king? even that which hath been already done. 09:32 Then I saw that wisdom excelleth folly, as far as 09:37 light excelleth darkness. 09:39 The wise man's eyes are in his head; but the fool 09:42 walketh in darkness: and I myself perceived also that 09:46 one event happeneth to them all. 09:48 Then said I in my heart, As it happeneth to the 09:53 fool, so it happeneth even to me; and why was 09:57 I then more wise? Then I said in my heart, 10:00 that this also is vanity. 10:03 For there is no remembrance of the wise more than 10:06 of the fool for ever; seeing that which now is in the 10:10 days to come shall all be forgotten. And how dieth the 10:13 wise man? as the fool. 10:16 Therefore I hated life; because the work that is 10:18 wrought under the sun is grievous unto me: for all is 10:21 vanity and vexation of spirit. 10:23 Yea, I hated all my labour which I had taken under 10:26 the sun: because I should leave it unto the man 10:29 that shall be after me. 10:31 And who knoweth whether he shall be a wise man 10:34 or a fool? yet shall he have rule over all my labour 10:36 wherein I have laboured, and wherein I have shewed 10:39 myself wise under the sun. This is also vanity. 10:42 Therefore I went about to cause my heart to despair 10:46 of all the labour which I took under the sun. 10:48 For there is a man whose labour is in wisdom, and 10:51 in knowledge, and in equity; yet to a man that hath not 10:54 laboured therein shall he leave it for his portion. 10:57 This also is vanity and a great evil. 11:00 For what hath man of all his labour, and of the 11:03 vexation of his heart, wherein he hath 11:05 laboured under the sun? 11:06 For all his days are sorrows, and his travail 11:10 grief; yea, his heart taketh not rest in the night. 11:13 This is also vanity. 11:15 There is nothing better for a man, than that 11:18 he should eat and drink, and that he should make 11:21 his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, 11:24 that it was from the hand of God. 11:27 For who can eat, or who else can hasten hereunto, more than I? 11:31 For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight 11:36 wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he 11:40 giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that 11:43 he may give to him that is good before God. 11:46 This also is vanity and vexation of spirit. 11:51 Continuing to read in the book of Ecclesiastes this is 11:54 Chapter 3 in the King James version. 11:57 To every thing there is a season, and a time to 12:02 every purpose under the heaven: 12:04 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to 12:08 plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; 12:12 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break 12:16 down, and a time to build up; 12:18 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, 12:23 and a time to dance; 12:25 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather 12:28 stones together; a time to embrace, and a time 12:33 to refrain from embracing; 12:35 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, 12:40 and a time to cast away; 12:43 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep 12:48 silence, and a time to speak; 12:51 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, 12:55 and a time of peace. 12:56 What profit hath he that worketh in that 13:00 wherein he laboureth? 13:01 I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the 13:04 sons of men to be exercised in it. 13:06 He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: 13:10 also he hath set the world in their heart, so that 13:14 no man can find out the work that God maketh from 13:18 the beginning to the end. 13:20 I know that there is no good in them, but for a man 13:23 to rejoice, and to do good in his life. 13:27 And also that every man should eat and drink, and 13:31 enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God. 13:35 I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for 13:40 ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from 13:44 it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him. 13:48 That which hath been is now; and that which is to be 13:52 hath already been; and God requireth that which is past. 13:56 And moreover I saw under the sun the place of 13:59 judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of 14:03 righteousness, that iniquity was there. 14:05 I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous 14:09 and the wicked: for there is a time there for every 14:12 purpose and for every work. 14:14 I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the 14:17 sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that 14:20 they might see that they themselves are beasts. 14:23 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth 14:27 beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, 14:30 so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; 14:33 so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: 14:36 for all is vanity. |
