00:15 Hello and welcome back to "His words are life."
00:18 I am Kelly Mowrer and today
00:20 we will continue to read together in Proverbs.
00:22 But let's pray first.
00:24 Dear father thank you very much
00:27 that we can come and sit here for few minutes
00:29 to hear your words.
00:31 Please send the Holy Spirit to make
00:34 these words go deep into our heart
00:36 and bear fruit to your glory,
00:38 may be not just hear them but,
00:39 may they be life changing and they we be wiser.
00:42 Thank you for loving us
00:44 we love you so much, amen.
00:46 I'm reading in Proverbs chapter 19
00:50 beginning with verse 28
00:52 and this is the King James Version.
00:53 An ungodly witness scorneth judgment:
00:58 and the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity.
01:01 Judgments are prepared for scorners,
01:04 and stripes for the back of fools.
01:07 Proverbs chapter 20, Wine is a mocker,
01:11 strong drink is raging:
01:13 and whosoever is deceived
01:14 thereby is not wise.
01:15 The fear of a king is as the roaring of a lion:
01:19 whoso provoketh him to anger sinneth
01:21 against his own soul.
01:22 It is an honour for a man to cease from strife:
01:26 but every fool will be meddling.
01:29 The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold;
01:33 therefore shall he beg in harvest,
01:35 and have nothing.
01:37 Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water;
01:41 but a man of understanding will draw it out.
01:44 Most men will proclaim every one
01:48 his own goodness:
01:49 but a faithful man who can find?
01:53 The just man walketh in his integrity:
01:56 his children are blessed after him.
01:58 A king that sitteth in the throne of judgment
02:01 scattereth away all evil with his eyes.
02:04 Who can say, I have made my heart clean,
02:09 I am pure from my sin?
02:10 Divers weights, and divers measures,
02:14 both of them are alike abomination to the Lord.
02:17 Even a child is known by his doings,
02:20 whether his work be pure,
02:22 and whether it be right.
02:24 The hearing ear, and the seeing eye,
02:26 the Lord hath made even both of them.
02:28 Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty;
02:32 open thine eyes,
02:34 and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.
02:36 It is naught, it is naught, saith the buyer:
02:40 but when he is gone his way,
02:42 then he boasteth.
02:43 There is gold, and a multitude of rubies:
02:47 but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.
02:50 Take his garment that is surety for a stranger:
02:54 and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.
02:57 Bread of deceit is sweet to a man;
03:01 but afterwards his mouth
03:03 shall be filled with gravel.
03:04 Every purpose is established by counsel:
03:08 and with good advice make war.
03:10 He that goeth about as a talebearer
03:14 revealeth secrets: therefore meddle
03:18 not with him that flattereth with his lips.
03:21 Whoso curseth his father or his mother,
03:24 his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.
03:27 An inheritance may be gotten hastily
03:31 at the beginning; but the end thereof
03:32 shall not be blessed. Say not thou,
03:36 I will recompense evil;
03:38 but wait on the Lord,
03:40 and he shall save thee.
03:42 Divers weights are an abomination
03:45 unto the Lord; and a false balance is not good.
03:47 Man's goings are of the Lord;
03:50 how can a man then understand his own way?
03:53 It is a snare to the man who devoureth
03:58 that which is holy,
03:59 and after vows to make enquiry.
04:01 A wise king scattereth the wicked,
04:04 and bringeth the wheel over them.
04:06 The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord,
04:09 searching all the inward parts of the belly.
04:11 Mercy and truth preserve the king:
04:15 and his throne is upholden by mercy.
04:18 The glory of young men is their strength:
04:21 and the beauty of old men is the grey head.
04:23 The blueness of a wound cleanseth away evil:
04:28 so do stripes the inward parts of the belly.
04:32 Reading in Proverbs chapter 21
04:36 and this is the King James Version.
04:37 The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD,
04:40 as the rivers of water:
04:42 he turneth it whithersoever he will.
04:44 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes:
04:48 but the Lord pondereth the hearts.
04:51 To do justice and judgment is more acceptable
04:55 to the Lord than sacrifice.
04:58 An high look, and a proud heart,
05:01 and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.
05:04 The thoughts of the diligent tend
05:07 only to plenteousness;
05:09 but of every one that is hasty only to want.
05:13 The getting of treasures by a lying tongue
05:17 is a vanity tossed to and fro of them
05:20 that seek death. The robbery of the wicked
05:23 shall destroy them;
05:24 because they refuse to do judgment.
05:26 The way of man is froward and strange:
05:30 but as for the pure, his work is right.
05:31 It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop,
05:34 than with a brawling woman in a wide house.
05:36 The soul of the wicked desireth evil:
05:39 his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.
05:42 When the scorner is punished,
05:44 the simple is made wise:
05:47 and when the wise is instructed,
05:49 he receiveth knowledge.
05:50 The righteous man wisely considereth
05:53 the house of the wicked:
05:54 but God overthroweth
05:56 the wicked for their wickedness.
05:58 Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor,
06:01 he also shall cry himself,
06:03 but shall not be heard.
06:04 A gift in secret pacifieth anger:
06:08 and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.
06:11 It is joy to the just to do judgment:
06:15 but destruction shall be to the workers
06:18 of iniquity. The man that wandereth out
06:22 of the way of understanding shall remain
06:23 in the congregation of the dead.
06:25 He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man:
06:28 he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.
06:32 The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous,
06:35 and the transgressor for the upright.
06:37 It is better to dwell in the wilderness,
06:40 than with a contentious and an angry woman.
06:42 There is treasure to be desired and oil
06:46 in the dwelling of the wise;
06:48 but a foolish man spendeth it up.
06:50 He that followeth after righteousness
06:54 and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.
06:59 A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty,
07:02 and casteth down the strength of the
07:04 confidence thereof. Whoso keepeth
07:07 his mouth and his tongue keepeth
07:10 his soul from troubles.
07:12 Proud and haughty scorner is his name,
07:15 who dealeth in proud wrath.
07:17 The desire of the slothful killeth him;
07:21 for his hands refuse to labour.
07:23 He coveteth greedily all the day long:
07:25 but the righteous giveth and spareth not.
07:29 The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination:
07:31 how much more,
07:33 when he bringeth it with a wicked mind?
07:34 A false witness shall perish:
07:37 but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.
07:40 A wicked man hardeneth his face:
07:43 but as for the upright, he directeth his way.
07:45 There is no wisdom nor understanding nor
07:50 counsel against the Lord.
07:52 The horse is prepared against the day of battle:
07:55 but safety is of the Lord.
07:58 Proverbs chapter 22
08:01 and this is the King James Version.
08:02 A good name is rather to be chosen
08:06 than great riches,
08:07 and loving favour rather than silver and gold.
08:11 The rich and poor meet together:
08:13 the Lord is the maker of them all.
08:15 A prudent man foreseeth the evil,
08:18 and hideth himself:
08:20 but the simple pass on,
08:22 and are punished.
08:24 By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches,
08:28 and honour, and life.
08:30 Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward:
08:33 he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them.
08:36 Train up a child in the way he should go:
08:40 and when he is old,
08:41 he will not depart from it.
08:43 The rich ruleth over the poor,
08:45 and the borrower is servant to the lender.
08:49 He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity:
08:53 and the rod of his anger shall fail.
08:55 He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed;
08:59 for he giveth of his bread to the poor.
09:02 Cast out the scorner,
09:04 and contention shall go out;
09:07 yea, strife and reproach shall cease.
09:09 He that loveth pureness of heart,
09:12 for the grace of his lips
09:14 the king shall be his friend.
09:16 The eyes of the Lord preserve knowledge,
09:19 and he overthroweth the words of the transgressor.
09:22 The slothful man saith, There is a lion without,
09:25 I shall be slain in the streets.
09:27 The mouth of strange women is a deep pit:
09:31 he that is abhorred of the Lord shall fall therein.
09:34 Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child;
09:38 but the rod of correction shall drive it
09:40 far from him.
09:41 He that oppresseth the poor to increase
09:44 his riches, and he that giveth to the rich,
09:46 shall surely come to want.
09:48 Bow down thine ear,
09:50 and hear the words of the wise,
09:51 and apply thine heart unto my knowledge.
09:54 For it is a pleasant thing
09:56 if thou keep them within thee;
09:57 they shall withal be fitted in thy lips.
10:01 That thy trust may be in the Lord,
10:03 I have made known to thee this day,
10:05 even to thee.
10:07 Have not I written to thee excellent things
10:10 in counsels and knowledge.
10:11 That I might make thee know the certainty
10:14 of the words of truth;
10:15 that thou mightest answer the words of truth
10:17 to them that send unto thee?
10:19 Rob not the poor,
10:21 because he is poor:
10:22 neither oppress the afflicted in the gate:
10:25 For the Lord will plead their cause,
10:27 and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.
10:30 Make no friendship with an angry man;
10:33 and with a furious man thou shalt not go:
10:35 Lest thou learn his ways,
10:37 and get a snare to thy soul.
10:39 Be not thou one of them that strike hands,
10:43 or of them that are sureties for debts.
10:45 If thou hast nothing to pay,
10:47 why should he take away thy bed
10:49 from under thee?
10:50 Remove not the ancient landmark,
10:52 which thy fathers have set.
10:54 Seest thou a man diligent in his business?
10:58 He shall stand before kings;
11:00 he shall not stand before mean men.
11:03 Proverbs chapter 23.
11:06 When thou sittest to eat with a ruler,
11:10 consider diligently what is before thee:
11:12 And put a knife to thy throat,
11:14 if thou be a man given to appetite.
11:16 Be not desirous of his dainties:
11:19 for they are deceitful meat.
11:20 Labour not to be rich:
11:23 cease from thine own wisdom.
11:25 Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that
11:28 which is not?
11:29 For riches certainly make themselves wings;
11:33 they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.
11:35 Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye,
11:39 neither desire thou his dainty meats:
11:42 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he:
11:45 Eat and drink, saith he to thee;
11:48 but his heart is not with thee.
11:50 The morsel which thou hast eaten shalt
11:53 thou vomit up, and lose thy sweet words.
11:56 Speak not in the ears of a fool:
11:59 for he will despise the wisdom of thy words.
12:02 Remove not the old landmark;
12:04 and enter not into the fields of the fatherless:
12:06 For their redeemer is mighty;
12:08 he shall plead their cause with thee.
12:10 Apply thine heart unto instruction,
12:13 and thine ears to the words of knowledge.
12:16 Withhold not correction from the child:
12:19 for if thou beatest him with the rod,
12:21 he shall not die. Thou shalt beat him
12:23 with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul
12:25 from hell. My son, if thine heart be wise,
12:29 my heart shall rejoice, even mine.
12:32 Yea, my reins shall rejoice,
12:34 when thy lips speak right things.
12:37 Let not thine heart envy sinners:
12:40 but be thou in the fear of the Lord
12:43 all the day long.
12:44 For surely there is an end;
12:46 and thine expectation shall not be cut off.
12:49 Hear thou, my son, and be wise,
12:52 and guide thine heart in the way.
12:53 Be not among winebibbers;
12:56 among riotous eaters of flesh:
12:58 For the drunkard and the glutton shall come
13:00 to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man
13:04 with rags. Hearken unto thy father
13:07 that begat thee, and despise not thy mother
13:10 when she is old. Buy the truth,
13:12 and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction,
13:16 and understanding.
13:17 The father of the righteous
13:19 shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth
13:22 a wise child shall have joy of him.
13:24 Thy father and thy mother shall be glad,
13:27 and she that bare thee shall rejoice.
13:29 My son, give me thine heart,
13:32 and let thine eyes observe my ways.
13:34 For a whore is a deep ditch;
13:37 and a strange woman is a narrow pit.
13:39 She also lieth in wait as for a prey,
13:42 and increaseth the transgressors among men.
13:44 Who hath woe? who hath sorrow?
13:47 who hath contentions? who hath babbling?
13:49 who hath wounds without cause?
13:51 who hath redness of eyes?
13:53 They that tarry long at the wine;
13:56 they that go to seek mixed wine.
13:58 Look not thou upon the wine when it is red,
14:02 when it giveth his colour in the cup,
14:04 when it moveth itself aright.
14:05 At the last it biteth like a serpent,
14:08 and stingeth like an adder.
14:10 Thine eyes shall behold strange women,
14:12 and thine heart shall utter perverse things.
14:15 Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down
14:17 in the midst of the sea,
14:18 or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast.
14:21 They have stricken me, shalt thou say,
14:23 and I was not sick; they have beaten me,
14:25 and I felt it not: when shall I awake?
14:27 I will seek it yet again.
14:29 Thank you for joining with me today
14:33 to read the words of God and until
14:35 we need again may He keep each one of us
14:37 in His care and His glory, good bye.
