00:16 Hello and welcome to "His Words are Life."
00:18 I am Kelly Mower and thank you for joining 00:20 with me today to read the Bible together. 00:23 Let's pray before we start. 00:26 Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for an 00:29 opportunity to sit and to hear your voice 00:32 through these words of your men and women 00:36 down through the ages. 00:39 Please send the Holy Spirit to open our 00:41 hearts to hear the lessons you have for 00:44 everyone of us in this moment. 00:47 Thank you for being with us throughout all 00:49 of our days and teach us to praise 00:52 you better. We love you so much, amen. 00:56 We are reading in Psalm 147 00:59 beginning with verse 6. 01:01 This is the King James Version. 01:04 The LORD lifteth up the meek: 01:06 he casteth the wicked down to the ground. 01:10 Sing unto the LORD with thanksgiving; 01:13 sing praise upon the harp unto our God: 01:17 Who covereth the heaven with clouds, 01:19 who prepareth rain for the earth, 01:22 who maketh grass to grow upon the mountains. 01:25 He giveth to the beast his food, 01:27 and to the young ravens which cry. 01:30 He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: 01:32 he taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man. 01:35 The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, 01:38 in those that hope in his mercy. 01:42 Praise the LORD, O Jerusalem; 01:44 praise thy God, O Zion. 01:46 For he hath strengthened the bars of thy gates; 01:49 he hath blessed thy children within thee. 01:51 He maketh peace in thy borders, 01:53 and filleth thee with the finest of the wheat. 01:56 He sendeth forth his commandment upon earth: 01:59 his word runneth very swiftly. 02:02 He giveth snow like wool: 02:05 he scattereth the hoarfrost like ashes. 02:09 He casteth forth his ice like morsels: 02:12 who can stand before his cold? 02:15 He sendeth out his word, 02:17 and melteth them: he causeth his wind to blow, 02:21 and the waters flow.x 02:23 He sheweth his word unto Jacob, 02:25 his statutes and his judgments unto Israel. 02:28 He hath not dealt so with any nation: 02:31 and as for his judgments, 02:33 they have not known them. 02:35 Praise ye the LORD. Psalm 148, 02:40 and this is the Kings James Version. 02:42 Praise ye the LORD. Praise ye the LORD from 02:45 the heavens: praise him in the heights. 02:48 Praise ye him, all his angels: 02:50 praise ye him, all his hosts. Praise ye him, 02:53 sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light. 02:57 Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, 03:00 and ye waters that be above the heavens. 03:03 Let them praise the name of the LORD: 03:05 for he commanded, and they were created. 03:09 He hath also established them for ever and ever: 03:12 he hath made a decree which shall not pass. 03:16 Praise the LORD from the earth, 03:18 ye dragons, and all deeps: 03:21 Fire, and hail; snow, and vapours; 03:24 stormy wind fulfilling his word: Mountains, 03:28 and all hills; fruitful trees, and all cedars: 03:32 Beasts, and all cattle; creeping things, 03:35 and flying fowl: Kings of the earth, 03:37 and all people; princes, 03:40 and all judges of the earth: 03:42 Both young men, and maidens; 03:44 old men, and children: 03:45 Let them praise the name of the LORD: 03:48 for his name alone is excellent; 03:51 his glory is above the earth and heaven. 03:54 He also exalteth the horn of his people, 03:57 the praise of all his saints; 03:59 even of the children of Israel, 04:01 a people near unto him. Praise ye the LORD. 04:06 Psalm 149. This is the King James Version. 04:10 Praise ye the LORD. 04:13 Sing unto the LORD a new song, 04:15 and his praise in the congregation of saints. 04:18 Let Israel rejoice in him that made him: 04:22 let the children of Zion be joyful in their King. 04:24 Let them praise his name in the dance: 04:27 let them sing praises unto him with the 04:29 timbrel and harp. For the LORD taketh 04:32 pleasure in his people: 04:34 he will beautify the meek with salvation. 04:37 Let the saints be joyful in glory: 04:40 let them sing aloud upon their beds. 04:43 Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, 04:46 and a two-edged sword in their hand; 04:49 To execute vengeance upon the heathen, 04:52 and punishments upon the people; 04:54 To bind their kings with chains, 04:56 and their nobles with fetters of iron; 04:58 To execute upon them the judgment written: 05:02 this honour have all his saints. 05:05 Praise ye the LORD. Psalm 150: 05:11 Praise ye the LORD. 05:13 Praise God in his sanctuary: 05:16 praise him in the firmament of his power. 05:18 Praise him for his mighty acts: 05:21 praise him according to his excellent greatness. 05:26 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: 05:29 praise him with the psaltery and harp. 05:31 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: 05:35 praise him with stringed instruments and organs. 05:39 Praise him upon the loud cymbals: 05:43 praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. 05:46 Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. 05:52 Praise ye the LORD. Now we move to the 05:58 book of Proverbs chapter 1. 06:01 This is the King James Version. 06:05 The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, 06:07 king of Israel; To know wisdom and instruction; 06:12 to perceive the words of understanding; 06:15 To receive the instruction of wisdom, 06:18 justice, and judgment, and equity; 06:20 To give subtilty to the simple, 06:23 to the young man knowledge and discretion. 06:27 A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; 06:29 and a man of understanding shall 06:31 attain unto wise counsels: 06:34 To understand a proverb, 06:35 and the interpretation; 06:37 the words of the wise, and their dark sayings. 06:41 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of 06:44 knowledge: but fools despise wisdom 06:48 and instruction. My son, hear the 06:52 instruction of thy father, 06:54 and forsake not the law of thy mother: 06:57 For they shall be an ornament of grace unto 06:59 thy head, and chains about thy neck. 07:03 My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not. 07:09 If they say, come with us, 07:11 let us lay wait for blood, 07:13 let us lurk privily for the innocent 07:15 without cause: Let us swallow them up alive 07:18 as the grave; and whole, 07:20 as those that go down into the pit: 07:24 We shall find all precious substance, 07:25 we shall fill our houses with spoil: 07:27 Cast in thy lot among us; 07:29 let us all have one purse: My son, 07:34 walk not thou in the way with them; 07:37 refrain thy foot from their path: 07:40 For their feet run to evil, 07:42 and make haste to shed blood. 07:44 Surely in vain the net is spread in the 07:46 sight of any bird. And they lay wait 07:49 for their own blood; they lurk privily for 07:51 their own lives. So are the ways of every one 07:55 that is greedy of gain; which taketh away 07:58 the life of the owners thereof. 08:02 Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her 08:05 voice in the streets: She crieth in the 08:08 chief place of concourse, 08:09 in the openings of the gates: 08:11 in the city she uttereth her words, 08:13 saying, How long, ye simple ones, 08:16 will ye love simplicity? 08:19 And the scorners delight in their scorning, 08:21 and fools hate knowledge? 08:23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, 08:27 I will pour out my spirit unto you, 08:30 I will make known my words unto you. 08:34 Because I have called, and ye refused; 08:37 I have stretched out my hand, 08:39 and no man regarded; But ye have set at 08:42 nought all my counsel, and would none 08:44 of my reproof: I also will laugh 08:48 at your calamity; I will mock when 08:51 your fear cometh; When your fear 08:53 cometh as desolation, and your destruction 08:56 cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and 08:58 anguish cometh upon you. 09:00 Then shall they call upon me, 09:01 but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, 09:04 but they shall not find me: 09:06 For that they hated knowledge, 09:09 and did not choose the fear of the LORD: 09:13 They would none of my counsel: 09:14 they despised all my reproof. 09:18 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of 09:20 their own way, and be filled with 09:22 their own devices. For the turning 09:25 away of the simple shall slay them, 09:28 and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. 09:32 But whoso hearkeneth unto me 09:36 shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet 09:39 from fear of evil. Proverbs chapter 09:43 2 and this is the King James Version. 09:47 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, 09:50 and hide my commandments with thee; 09:53 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, 09:56 and apply thine heart to understanding; 09:58 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, 10:00 and liftest up thy voice for understanding; 10:04 If thou seekest her as silver, 10:07 and searchest for her as for hid treasures; 10:10 Then shalt thou understand the fear 10:12 of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. 10:16 For the LORD giveth wisdom: 10:19 out of his mouth cometh knowledge 10:21 and understanding. He layeth up sound 10:24 wisdom for the righteous: 10:26 he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. 10:29 He keepeth the paths of judgment, 10:31 and preserveth the way of his saints. 10:34 Then shalt thou understand righteousness, 10:37 and judgment, and equity; yea, 10:40 every good path. When wisdom entereth 10:43 into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant 10:45 unto thy soul; Discretion shall preserve thee, 10:50 understanding shall keep thee: 10:53 To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, 10:55 from the man that speaketh froward things; 10:58 Who leave the paths of uprightness, 11:00 to walk in the ways of darkness; 11:02 Who rejoice to do evil, and delight 11:04 in the frowardness of the wicked; 11:06 Whose ways are crooked, 11:07 and they froward in their paths: 11:10 To deliver thee from the strange woman, 11:13 even from the stranger which flattereth 11:15 with her words; Which forsaketh 11:17 the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the 11:20 covenant of her God. For her house 11:23 inclineth unto death, 11:25 and her paths unto the dead. 11:28 None that go unto her return again, 11:31 neither take they hold of the paths of life. 11:34 That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, 11:37 and keep the paths of the righteous. 11:40 For the upright shall dwell in the land, 11:43 and the perfect shall remain in it. 11:46 But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, 11:49 and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it. 11:53 Proverbs chapter 3 and this is the 11:55 King James Version. My son, forget not my law; 12:02 but let thine heart keep my commandments: 12:04 For length of days, and long life, 12:07 and peace, shall they add to thee. 12:10 Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: 12:14 bind them about thy neck; 12:15 write them upon the table of thine heart: 12:19 So shalt thou find favour and good 12:21 understanding in the sight of God and man. 12:25 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; 12:28 and lean not unto thine own understanding. 12:31 In all thy ways acknowledge him, 12:33 and he shall direct thy paths. 12:37 Be not wise in thine own eyes: 12:40 fear the LORD, and depart from evil. 12:42 It shall be health to thy navel, 12:43 and marrow to thy bones. Honour the LORD 12:46 with thy substance, and with the firstfruits 12:48 of all thine increase: So shall thy barns 12:51 be filled with plenty, and thy presses 12:54 shall burst out with new wine. My son, 12:58 despise not the chastening of the LORD; 13:01 neither be weary of his correction: 13:05 For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; 13:07 even as a father the son in whom he delighteth. 13:12 Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, 13:14 and the man that getteth understanding. 13:16 For the merchandise of it is better than the 13:18 merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof 13:21 than fine gold. She is more precious 13:23 than rubies: and all the things thou canst 13:26 desire are not to be compared unto her. 13:30 Length of days is in her right hand; 13:32 and in her left hand riches and honour. 13:36 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, 13:39 and all her paths are peace. 13:42 She is a tree of life to them that lay 13:45 hold upon her: and happy is every one 13:48 that retaineth her. The LORD by wisdom 13:51 hath founded the earth; 13:53 by understanding hath he established the heavens. 13:56 By his knowledge the depths are broken up, 13:58 and the clouds drop down the dew. 14:02 My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: 14:06 keep sound wisdom and discretion: 14:09 So shall they be life unto thy soul, 14:12 and grace to thy neck. 14:14 Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, 14:18 and thy foot shall not stumble. 14:20 When thou liest down, 14:21 thou shalt not be afraid: yea, 14:23 thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet. 14:28 Be not afraid of sudden fear, 14:30 neither of the desolation of the wicked, 14:32 when it cometh. For the LORD 14:34 shall be thy confidence, 14:36 and shall keep thy foot from being taken. |
