00:13 Hello, and welcome to His Words Are Life.
00:15 I'm Kelly Mowrer, and today we're going to be reading
00:18 together in the book of Psalms.
00:20 Before we start, let's pray together.
00:22 Dear Heavenly Father, many of us come apart in this time with
00:27 things in our hearts, and on our minds, that would distract us
00:33 from hearing with a full heart, and full attention, Your words.
00:37 Please remove the distractions and let us focus entirely
00:41 on You, and worship You as we listen to Your words.
00:44 We love You so much, and thank You for loving us.
00:47 Amen.
00:48 Reading in the book of Psalms; this is the King James Version.
00:52 I'm beginning with Psalm 54.
00:54 Save me, O God, by thy name, and judge me by thy strength.
01:00 Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth.
01:06 For strangers are risen up against me,
01:09 and oppressors seek after my soul: they have not set God
01:13 before them.
01:14 Selah.
01:15 Behold, God is mine helper: the Lord is with them
01:20 that uphold my soul.
01:22 He shall reward evil unto mine enemies:
01:25 cut them off in thy truth.
01:27 I will freely sacrifice unto thee: I will praise thy name,
01:33 O Lord; for it is good.
01:34 For he hath delivered me out of all trouble:
01:37 and mine eye hath seen his desire upon mine enemies.
01:42 This is Psalm 55, of the King James Version.
01:46 Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself
01:50 from my supplication.
01:51 Attend unto me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint,
01:55 and make a noise; because of the voice of the enemy,
02:00 because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity
02:03 upon me, and in wrath they hate me.
02:06 My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death
02:10 are fallen upon me.
02:12 Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me,
02:16 and horror hath overwhelmed me.
02:18 And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove!
02:21 for then would I fly away, and be at rest.
02:25 Lo, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness.
02:29 Selah.
02:30 I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest.
02:34 Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues:
02:37 for I have seen violence and strife in the city.
02:40 Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof:
02:43 mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it.
02:46 Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart
02:51 not from her streets.
02:52 For it was not an enemy that reproached me;
02:55 then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me
02:59 that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself
03:03 from him: but it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide,
03:08 and mine acquaintance.
03:09 We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house
03:12 of God in company.
03:14 Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick
03:18 into hell: for wickedness is in their dwellings,
03:20 and among them.
03:21 As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me.
03:27 Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray,
03:31 and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.
03:34 He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was
03:39 against me: for there were many with me.
03:42 God shall hear, and afflict them,
03:44 even he that abideth of old.
03:46 Selah.
03:48 Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God.
03:51 He hath put forth his hands against such as be at peace
03:54 with him: he hath broken his covenant.
03:56 The words of his mouth were smoother than butter,
03:59 but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil,
04:03 yet were they drawn swords.
04:06 Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee:
04:12 he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
04:15 But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit
04:19 of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out
04:24 half their days; but I will trust in thee.
04:29 Continuing with Psalm 56, and this is the King James Version.
04:35 Be merciful unto me, O God: for man would swallow me up;
04:40 he fighting daily oppresseth me.
04:43 Mine enemies would daily swallow me up:
04:46 for they be many that fight against me, O thou most High.
04:50 What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.
04:54 In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust;
05:00 I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.
05:04 Every day they wrest my words: all their thoughts
05:08 are against me for evil.
05:10 They gather themselves together, they hide themselves,
05:14 they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul.
05:17 Shall they escape by iniquity? in thine anger cast down
05:23 the people, O God.
05:24 Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle:
05:30 are they not in thy book?
05:32 When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back:
05:37 this I know; for God is for me.
05:41 In God will I praise his word: in the Lord will I praise
05:46 his word.
05:47 In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man
05:52 can do unto me.
05:53 Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render praises unto thee.
05:59 For thou hast delivered my soul from death:
06:02 wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling,
06:06 that I may walk before God in the light of the living?
06:11 Continuing with Psalm 57.
06:14 This is the King James Version.
06:15 Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me:
06:20 for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings
06:24 will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.
06:30 I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth
06:35 all things for me.
06:36 He shall send from heaven, and save me from the reproach of him
06:40 that would swallow me up.
06:41 Selah.
06:42 God shall send forth his mercy and his truth.
06:46 My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set
06:51 on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears
06:54 and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.
06:58 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens;
07:01 let thy glory be above all the earth.
07:04 They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down:
07:10 they have digged a pit before me, into the midst whereof
07:15 they are fallen themselves.
07:16 Selah.
07:17 My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed:
07:22 I will sing and give praise.
07:24 Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp:
07:28 I myself will awake early.
07:30 I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people:
07:32 I will sing unto thee among the nations.
07:35 For thy mercy is great unto the heavens,
07:38 and thy truth unto the clouds.
07:40 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens:
07:44 let thy glory be above all the earth.
07:48 Psalm 58.
07:51 Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation?
07:56 do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men?
08:00 Yea, in heart ye work wickedness;
08:05 ye weigh the violence of your hands in the earth.
08:09 The wicked are estranged from the womb:
08:12 they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.
08:16 Their poison is like the poison of a serpent:
08:19 they are like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear;
08:22 which will not hearken to the voice of charmers,
08:26 charming never so wisely.
08:28 Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth:
08:31 break out the great teeth of the young lions, O Lord.
08:34 Let them melt away as waters which run continually:
08:38 when he bendeth his bow to shoot his arrows,
08:41 let them be as cut in pieces.
08:43 As a snail which melteth, let every one of them pass away:
08:49 like the untimely birth of a woman, that they may not
08:52 see the sun.
08:53 Before your pots can feel the thorns, he shall take them away
08:56 as with a whirlwind, both living, and in his wrath.
09:00 The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance:
09:04 he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.
09:07 So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward
09:11 for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth.
09:17 Continuing with Psalm 59.
09:20 This is the King James Version.
09:25 Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God:
09:27 defend me from them that rise up against me.
09:31 Deliver me from the workers of iniquity,
09:34 and save me from bloody men.
09:36 For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul:
09:40 the mighty are gathered against me; not for my transgression,
09:45 nor for my sin, O Lord.
09:47 They run and prepare themselves without my fault:
09:51 awake to help me, and behold.
09:55 Thou therefore, O Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel,
09:59 awake to visit all the heathen: be not merciful to any
10:03 wicked transgressors.
10:04 Selah.
10:05 They return at evening: they make a noise like a dog,
10:09 and go round about the city.
10:11 Behold, they belch out with their mouth:
10:13 swords are in their lips: for who, say they, doth hear?
10:17 But thou, O Lord, shall laugh at them;
10:22 thou shalt have all the heathen in derision.
10:25 Because of his strength will I wait upon thee:
10:28 for God is my defense.
10:31 The God of my mercy shall prevent me:
10:35 God shall let me see my desire upon mine enemies.
10:40 Slay them not, lest my people forget:
10:43 scatter them by thy power; and bring them down,
10:46 O Lord our shield.
10:48 For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them
10:51 even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying
10:55 which they speak.
10:56 Consume them in wrath, consume them,
10:59 that they may not be: and let them know that God
11:02 ruleth in Jacob unto the ends of the earth.
11:06 Selah.
11:07 And at evening let them return; and let them make a noise like
11:11 a dog, and go round about the city.
11:13 Let them wander up and down for meat, and grudge if they
11:16 be not satisfied.
11:17 But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy
11:23 mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defense and refuge
11:29 in the day of my trouble.
11:30 Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing:
11:34 for God is my defense, and the God of my mercy.
11:39 Reading now in Psalm 60.
11:43 This is the King James Version.
11:44 O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us,
11:50 thou hast been displeased; O turn thyself to us again.
11:54 Thou hast made the earth to tremble; thou hast broken it:
11:59 heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh.
12:03 Thou hast shown thy people hard things:
12:06 thou hast made us to drink the wine of astonishment.
12:10 Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee,
12:13 that it may be displayed because of the truth.
12:16 Selah.
12:17 That thy beloved may be delivered;
12:20 save with thy right hand, and hear me.
12:23 God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice,
12:29 I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.
12:33 Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine,
12:36 Ephraim also is the strength of mine head;
12:40 Judah is my lawgiver; Moab is my washpot;
12:43 over Edom will I cast out my shoe:
12:47 Philistia, triumph thou because of me.
12:50 Who will bring me into the strong city?
12:54 Who will lead me into Edom?
12:56 Wilt not thou, O God, which hadst cast us off?
13:00 and thou, O God, which didst not go out with our armies?
13:05 Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.
13:10 Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that
13:15 shall tread down our enemies.
13:17 Continuing with Psalm 61.
13:20 This is the King James Version.
13:21 Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.
13:27 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee,
13:30 when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock
13:34 that is higher than I.
13:35 For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower
13:40 from the enemy.
13:41 I will abide in thy tabernacle forever:
13:44 I will trust in the covert of thy wings.
13:47 Selah.
13:48 For thou, O God, hast heard my vows:
13:52 thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear thy name.
13:55 Thou wilt prolong the king's life:
13:58 and his years as many generations.
14:01 He shall abide before God forever:
14:04 O prepare mercy and truth, which may preserve him.
14:07 So will I sing praise unto thy name forever,
14:11 that I may daily perform my vows.
14:15 Continuing with Psalm 62.
14:17 Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation.
14:25 He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defense;
14:31 I shall not be greatly moved.
14:34 Please join me again next time to read the word
14:36 of God together.
14:37 Goodbye.
