00:14 Hi, and welcome back to His Words Are Life.
00:17 I'm Kelly Mowrer, and thank you for joining with me today 00:20 to read the word of God. 00:21 When we were last together reading in Numbers some of the 00:24 stories of the children of Israel as they journeyed 00:27 to the promised land, it struck me how time and again when 00:31 they would disobey the Lord, Moses and Aaron, or Moses, 00:34 would beg with God for Him to forgive them. 00:38 And He would forgive them. 00:39 That is what God wants each of us to have; that same spirit 00:43 of looking out for each other, for asking God's forgiveness 00:47 on those that we love who harm us; who would seek to harm us 00:50 and who harm God through ignorance or otherwise. 00:53 As we were together last we were reading the charges 00:56 that God was giving to Aaron and his sons; the duties they 00:59 were to do as priests. 01:00 We're going to pick up now in Numbers 18, but before we do 01:03 let's pray together. 01:05 Dear Lord, thank you so much for this time to come apart 01:08 and read Your words that are a light to our path, but may they 01:13 also be planted in our hearts so that we become a light 01:16 to the world. 01:17 Like Moses and Aaron, we look for ways and places where we can 01:22 step in and plead forgiveness for those that we see who are 01:28 disobeying You; who are rebelling against You. 01:30 Fill our hearts with the love and the spirit that we 01:35 read about over and over, that Moses showed, the meekness 01:37 that he had, and also Aaron as well. 01:40 Now as we read these words, teach us what You would have 01:43 us to know. 01:44 We love You so much! 01:45 Thank You for loving us. 01:47 Amen. 01:48 Again, we're reading in the book of Numbers. 01:49 This is chapter 18, and we're starting on verse 5. 01:53 This is the King James Version. 01:54 And ye shall keep the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of 01:58 the altar: that there be no wrath any more upon the 02:02 children of Israel. 02:03 And I, behold, I have taken your brethren the Levites 02:06 from among the children of Israel: to you they are given 02:10 as a gift for the Lord, to do the service of the tabernacle 02:13 of the congregation. 02:14 Therefore thou and thy sons with thee shall keep your priest's 02:19 office for everything of the altar, and within the veil; 02:22 and ye shall serve: I have given your priest's office unto you 02:27 as a service of gift: and the stranger that cometh nigh 02:30 shall be put to death. 02:32 And the Lord spake unto Aaron, Behold, I also have given thee 02:37 the charge of mine heave offerings of all the hallowed 02:40 things of the children of Israel; unto thee have I given 02:43 them by reason of the anointing, and to thy sons, 02:46 by an ordinance forever. 02:48 This shall be thine of the most holy things, reserved from the 02:52 fire: every oblation of theirs, every meat offering of theirs, 02:57 and every sin offering of theirs, and every trespass 02:59 offering of theirs, which they shall render unto me, 03:02 shall be most holy for thee and for thy sons. 03:05 In the most holy place shalt thou eat it; every male shall 03:09 eat it: it shall be holy unto thee. 03:11 And this is thine; the heave offering of their gift, 03:15 with all the wave offerings of the children of Israel: 03:18 I have given them unto thee, and to thy sons and to thy 03:22 daughters with thee, by a statute forever: every one that 03:27 is clean in thy house shall eat of it. 03:29 All the best of the oil, and all the best of the wine, 03:33 and of the wheat, the firstfruits of them which 03:35 they shall offer unto the Lord, them have I given thee. 03:39 And whatsoever is first ripe in the land, which they shall bring 03:44 unto the Lord, shall be thine; every one that is clean 03:48 in thine house shall eat of it. 03:50 Every thing devoted in Israel shall be thine. 03:53 Every thing that openeth the matrix in all flesh, 03:56 which they bring unto the Lord, whether it be of men or beasts, 03:59 shall be thine: nevertheless the firstborn of man shalt thou 04:05 surely redeem, and the firstling of unclean beasts 04:07 shalt thou redeem. 04:08 And those that are to be redeemed from a month old shalt 04:12 thou redeem, according to thine estimation, for the money of 04:15 five shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, 04:18 which is twenty gerahs. 04:19 But the firstling of a cow, or the firstling of a sheep, 04:23 or the firstling of a goat, thou shalt not redeem; they are holy: 04:27 thou shalt sprinkle their blood upon the altar, and shalt burn 04:30 their fat for an offering made by fire, for a sweet savor 04:34 unto the Lord. 04:35 And the flesh of them shall be thine, as the wave breast 04:39 and as the right shoulder are thine. 04:41 All the heave offerings of the holy things, 04:43 which the children of Israel offer unto the Lord, 04:46 have I given thee, and thy sons and thy daughters with thee, 04:50 by a statute for ever: it is a covenant of salt for ever before 04:55 the Lord unto thee and to thy seed with thee. 04:58 And the Lord spake unto Aaron, Thou shalt have no inheritance 05:02 in their land, neither shalt thou have any part among them: 05:06 I am thy part and thine inheritance among the children 05:10 of Israel. 05:11 And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth 05:15 in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they 05:18 serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation. 05:22 Neither must the children of Israel henceforth come nigh the 05:26 tabernacle of the congregation, lest they bear sin, and die. 05:30 But the Levites shall do the service of the tabernacle 05:33 of the congregation, and they shall bear their iniquity: 05:37 it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations, 05:40 that among the children of Israel they have no inheritance. 05:44 But the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer as a 05:48 heave offering unto the Lord, I have given to the Levites 05:51 to inherit: therefore I have said unto them, Among the 05:55 children of Israel they shall have no inheritance. 05:57 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, Thus speak unto the 06:01 Levites, and say unto them, When ye take of the children of 06:05 Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your 06:09 inheritance, then ye shall offer up an heave offering of it 06:13 for the Lord, even a tenth part of the tithe. 06:17 And this your heave offering shall be reckoned unto you, 06:20 as though it were the corn of the threshingfloor, 06:23 and as the fullness of the winepress. 06:26 Thus ye also shall offer an heave offering unto the Lord 06:29 of all your tithes, which ye receive of the children 06:33 of Israel; and ye shall give thereof the Lord's heave 06:36 offering to Aaron the priest. 06:39 Out of all your gifts ye shall offer every heave offering 06:42 of the Lord, of all the best thereof, even the hallowed 06:46 part thereof out of it. 06:47 Therefore thou shalt say unto them, When ye have heaved 06:51 the best thereof from it, then it shall be counted unto the 06:54 Levites as the increase of the threshingfloor, and as the 06:58 increase of the winepress. 06:59 And ye shall eat it in every place, ye and your households: 07:02 for it is your reward for your service in the tabernacle 07:05 of the congregation. 07:06 And ye shall bear no sin by reason of it, when ye have 07:10 heaved from it the best of it: neither shall ye pollute the 07:13 holy things of the children of Israel, lest ye die. 07:16 We're continuing to read in the book of Numbers, chapter 19, 07:20 and this is the King James Version. 07:21 And the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, 07:25 This is the ordinance of the law which the Lord hath commanded, 07:29 saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring thee 07:33 a red heifer without spot, wherein is no blemish, 07:37 and upon which never came yoke: and ye shall give her unto 07:40 Eleazar the priest, that he may bring her forth without 07:44 the camp, and one shall slay her before his face: and Eleazar 07:49 the priest shall take of her blood with his finger, 07:51 and sprinkle of her blood directly before the tabernacle 07:54 of the congregation seven times: and one shall burn the heifer in 07:59 his sight; her skin, and her flesh, and her blood, 08:02 with her dung, shall he burn: and the priest shall take cedar 08:06 wood, and hyssop, and scarlet, and cast it into the midst 08:10 of the burning of the heifer. 08:11 Then the priest shall wash his clothes, and he shall bathe his 08:14 flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp, 08:17 and the priest shall be unclean until the even. 08:20 And he that burneth her shall wash his clothes in water, 08:23 and bathe his flesh in water, and shall be unclean 08:25 until the even. 08:26 And a man that is clean shall gather up the ashes of the 08:30 heifer, and lay them up without the camp 08:32 in a clean place, and it shall be kept for the congregation 08:35 of the children of Israel for a water of separation: 08:39 it is a purification for sin. 08:42 And he that gathereth the ashes of the heifer shall wash his 08:45 clothes, and be unclean until the even: and it shall be unto 08:49 the children of Israel, and unto the stranger that sojourneth 08:51 among them, for a statute for ever. 08:54 He that toucheth the dead body of any man shall be unclean 08:57 seven days. 08:58 He shall purify himself with it on the third day, and on the 09:02 seventh day he shall be clean: but if he purify not himself 09:06 the third day, then the seventh day he shall not be clean. 09:10 Whosoever toucheth the dead body of any man that is dead, 09:14 and purifieth not himself, defileth the tabernacle 09:17 of the Lord; and that soul shall be cut off from Israel: 09:20 because the water of separation was not sprinkled upon him, 09:23 he shall be unclean; his uncleanness is yet upon him. 09:27 This is the law, when a man dieth in a tent: 09:30 all that come into the tent, and all that is in the tent, 09:34 shall be unclean seven days. 09:36 And every open vessel, which hath no covering bound upon it, 09:40 is unclean. 09:41 And whosoever toucheth one that is slain with a sword in the 09:46 open fields, or a dead body, or a bone of a man, or a grave, 09:51 shall be unclean seven days. 09:53 And for an unclean person they shall take of the ashes of the 09:57 burnt heifer of purification for sin, and running water shall be 10:01 put thereto in a vessel: and a clean person shall take hyssop, 10:05 and dip it in the water, and sprinkle it upon the tent, 10:08 and upon all the vessels, and and upon the persons that there, 10:12 and upon him that touched a bone, or one slain, or one dead, 10:16 or a grave: and the clean person shall sprinkle upon the unclean 10:20 on the third day, and on the seventh day: and on the seventh 10:24 day he shall purify himself, and wash his clothes, 10:27 and bathe himself in water, and shall be clean at even. 10:30 But the man that shall be unclean, and shall not purify 10:33 himself, that soul shall be cut off from among the congregation, 10:37 because he hath defiled the sanctuary of the Lord: 10:40 the water of separation hath not been sprinkled upon him; 10:44 he is unclean. 10:45 And it shall be a perpetual statute unto them, that he that 10:48 sprinkleth the water of separation shall wash his 10:51 clothes; and he that toucheth the water of separation 10:54 shall be unclean until even. 10:56 And whatsoever the unclean person toucheth shall be 10:59 unclean; and the soul that toucheth it shall be unclean 11:03 until even. 11:04 Again, we're reading in the book of Numbers. 11:06 We're starting now with chapter 20, and this is the 11:08 King James Version. 11:09 Then came the children of Israel, even the whole 11:12 congregation, into the desert of Zin in the first month: 11:16 and the people abode in Kadesh; and Miriam died there, 11:20 and was buried there. 11:21 And there was no water for the congregation: and they gathered 11:26 themselves together against Moses and against Aaron. 11:29 And the people chode with Moses, and spake, saying, Would God 11:33 that we had died when our brethren died before the Lord! 11:36 And why have ye brought up the congregation of the Lord into 11:38 this wilderness, that we and our cattle should die there? 11:41 And wherefore have ye made us to come up out of Egypt, 11:44 to bring us in unto this evil place? it is no place of seed, 11:48 or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there 11:52 any water to drink. 11:53 And Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly 11:57 unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, 12:00 and they fell upon their faces: and the glory of the Lord 12:04 appeared unto them. 12:05 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, Take the rod, and gather 12:10 thou the assembly together, thou and Aaron thy brother, 12:14 and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall 12:19 give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water 12:23 out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation 12:27 and their beasts drink. 12:28 And Moses took the rod from before the Lord, 12:32 as he commanded him. 12:34 And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before 12:38 the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; 12:43 must we fetch you water out of this rock? 12:46 And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote 12:51 the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, 12:56 and the congregation drank, and their beasts also. 13:00 And the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed 13:05 me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, 13:09 therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land 13:13 which I have given them. 13:15 This is the water of Meribah; because the children of Israel 13:20 strove with the Lord, and he was sanctified in them. 13:23 And Moses sent messengers from Kadesh unto the king of Edom, 13:27 Thus saith thy brother Israel, Thou knowest all the travail 13:31 that hath befallen us: how our fathers went down into Egypt, 13:35 and we have dwelt in Egypt a long time; and the Egyptians 13:39 vexed us, and our fathers: and when we cried unto the Lord, 13:42 he heard our voice, and sent an angel, and hath brought us forth 13:46 out of Egypt: and, behold, we are in Kadesh, 13:49 a city in the uttermost of thy border: let us pass, 13:53 I pray thee, through thy country: we will not pass 13:57 through the fields, or through the vineyards, 14:00 neither will we drink of the water of the wells: 14:02 we will go by the king's high way, we will not turn to the 14:06 right hand nor to the left, until we have passed 14:09 thy borders. 14:10 And Edom said unto him, Thou shalt not pass by me, 14:15 lest I come out against thee with the sword. 14:17 And the children of Israel said unto him, We will go by the 14:21 high way: and if I and my cattle drink of thy water, 14:24 then I will pay for it: I will only, without doing anything 14:27 else, go through on my feet. 14:30 Thank you for being with me today to read the word of God. 14:33 Please join me again next time. 14:35 Until then, may God keep you in His peace. 14:37 Goodbye. |
