00:17 Hi, and welcome to His Words are Life. I'm Kelley Mower
00:19 and thank you for joining me to read the Word of God today.
00:21 Before we start in the book of Numbers, let's pray together.
00:24 Dear Jesus, thank you so much that down through all the years
00:29 of history, You have brought us together to this point
00:33 to read these words.
00:34 And as we read them, may we not only hear them but may they take
00:39 root in our hearts and bear fruit to Your glory.
00:42 May we not just hear them as a collection of rules
00:48 and guidelines to the children of Israel,
00:50 but the lesson that you would wish for us to hear;
00:53 that You preserved them for to this day. Please come and teach
00:56 that to us, through the Holy Spirit. Thank you for loving us.
00:59 We love you so much. Amen
01:01 We are reading in the book of Numbers. We are in chapter 10
01:06 and beginning with verse 22 and this is the King James Version.
01:09 And the standard of the camp of the children of Ephraim
01:13 set forward, according to their armies.
01:15 And over his host was Elishama the son of
01:19 Ammihud. And over the host of the tribe of the children of
01:22 Manasseh was Gamaliel, the son of Pedahzur.
01:25 And over the host of the tribe of the children of Benjamin
01:28 was Abidan the son of Gideoni.
01:30 And the standard of the camp of the children of Dan set forward,
01:35 which was the rearward of all the camps throughout their hosts
01:39 and over his host was Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.
01:44 And over the host of the tribe of the children of Asher
01:47 was Pagiel the son of Ocran.
01:50 And over the host of the tribe of the children of Naphtali
01:53 was Ahira the son of Enan.
01:56 Thus were the journeyings of the children of Israel
01:59 according to their armies, when they set forward.
02:02 And Moses said unto Hobab, the son of Refuel
02:06 the Midianite, Moses father- in-law, we are journeying unto
02:11 the place of which the Lord said, I will give it to you:
02:14 come thou with us, and we will do thee good: for the Lord hath
02:19 spoken good concerning Israel. And he said unto him, I will
02:24 not go, but I will depart to mine own land and to my kindred.
02:28 And he said, Leave us not I pray thee; forasmuch as thou knowest
02:34 how we are to encamp in the wilderness,
02:36 and thou mayest be to us instead of eyes.
02:39 And it shall be if thou go with us, yea, it shall be
02:43 that what goodness the Lord shall do unto us,
02:45 the same will we do unto thee.
02:47 And they departed from the mount of the Lord three days' journey.
02:52 And the ark of the covenant of the Lord went before them
02:56 in the three days' journey to search out a resting place
02:59 for them. And the cloud of the Lord was upon them by day,
03:03 when they went out of the camp, and it came to pass,
03:05 when the ark set forward that Moses said, Rise up Lord
03:10 and let Thine enemies b scattered
03:11 and let them that hate Thee flee before Thee.
03:14 And when it rested, he said, Return, O Lord,
03:18 unto the many thousands of Israel.
03:20 We are continuing in chapter 11 of the book of Numbers.
03:25 This is the King James Version.
03:27 And when the people complained it displeased the Lord:
03:31 and the Lord heard it and His anger was kindled;
03:34 and the fire of the Lord burnt among them and consumed them
03:39 that were in the uttermost parts of the camp.
03:41 And the people cried unto Moses; and when Moses prayed unto
03:45 the Lord, the fire was quenched. And he called the name of the
03:49 place Taberah: because the fire of the Lord burnt among them.
03:53 And the mixed multitude that was among them fell a-lusting:
03:57 and the children of Israel also wept again and said,
04:01 Who shall give us flesh to eat? We remember the fish
04:05 which we did eat in Egypt freely the cucumbers, and the melons
04:08 and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic:
04:11 But now our soul is dried away. There is nothing at all,
04:16 beside this manna before our eyes. And the manna was as
04:21 coriander seed, and the color thereof as the color of bdellium
04:24 and the people went about and gathered it and ground it
04:28 in mills or beat it in a mortar, and baked it in pans
04:31 and made cakes of it. And the taste of it was as the taste of
04:34 fresh oil. And when the dew fell upon the camp in the night,
04:38 the manna fell upon it. Then Moses heard the people weep
04:43 throughout their families, every man in the door
04:45 of his tent. And the anger of the Lord was kindled greatly;
04:50 Moses also was displeased. And Moses said unto the Lord,
04:55 Wherefore hast Thou afflicted thy servant and wherefore have
04:59 I not found favor in Thy sight, that thou layest the burden
05:02 of all this people upon me? Have I conceived all this people
05:06 have I begotten them that Thou shouldest say unto me, Carry
05:09 them in thy bosom, as a nursing father beareth the suckling
05:11 child unto the land which Thou swearest unto their fathers?
05:14 Whence should I have flesh to give unto all this people?
05:17 for they weep unto me, saying, Give us flesh that we may eat.
05:20 I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is
05:24 too heavy for me. And if Thou deal thus with me, kill me,
05:28 I pray Thee, out of hand, if I have found favor in Thy sight;
05:32 and let me not see my wretchedness.
05:33 And the Lord said unto Moses, Gather unto me 70 men of the
05:38 elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the
05:41 the people and officers over them and bring them unto the
05:44 tabernacle of the congregation; that they may stand there with
05:47 thee. And I will come down and talk with you there.
05:51 And I will take of the spirit which is upon thee, and will
05:54 put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people
05:58 with thee, that thou bear it not thyself alone.
06:02 And say thou unto the people, Sanctify yourselves
06:06 against tomorrow, and ye shall eat flesh:
06:09 for ye have wept in the ears of the Lord, saying, Who shall
06:13 give us flesh to eat? for it was well with us in Egypt:
06:16 therefore the Lord will give you flesh, and ye shall eat.
06:19 You shall not eat one day, nor 2 days, nor 5 days, neither 10
06:23 days, nor 20 days; but even a whole month until it come out
06:27 at your nostrils and it be loathsome unto you:
06:30 because that ye have despised the Lord which is among you,
06:34 but have wept before Him saying, Why came we forth out of Egypt?
06:37 And Moses said, the people among whom I am are 600,000 footmen;
06:46 and Thou has said, I will give them flesh, that they may eat a
06:50 whole month. Shall the flocks and the herds be slain for them,
06:54 to suffice them? or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered
06:57 together for them to suffice them? And the Lord said unto
07:01 Moses, is the Lord's hand waxed short? thou shalt see now
07:07 whether my word shall come to pass unto thee or not.
07:10 And Moses went out and told the people the words of the Lord
07:14 and gathered the 70 men of the elders of the people
07:17 and set them round about the tabernacle.
07:19 And the Lord came down in a cloud and spake unto him
07:23 and took of the spirit that was upon him and gave it
07:26 unto the 70 elders: and it came to pass that when the spirit
07:31 rested upon them, they prophesied, and did not cease.
07:35 But there remained two of the men in the camp. The name of
07:39 one was Eldad, and the name of the other was Medad.
07:42 And the spirit rested upon them. And they were of them that were
07:47 written, but went not out unto the tabernacle:
07:49 and they prophesied in the camp. And there ran a young man
07:54 and told Moses and said, Eldad and Medad do prophesy
07:56 in the camp. And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses,
08:02 one of his young men, answered and said, My lord Moses
08:06 forbid them. And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake?
08:12 would God that all the Lord's people were prophets, and that
08:15 the Lord would put His spirit upon them. And Moses gat him
08:19 into the camp, he and the elders of Israel. And there went forth
08:24 a wind from the Lord and brought quails from the sea and let them
08:28 fall by the camp as it were a day's journey on this side
08:32 and as it were a day's journey on the other side round about
08:35 the camp. And as it were two cubits high upon the face
08:39 of the earth. And the people stood up all that day
08:43 and all that night and all the next day and they gathered
08:46 the quails. He that gathered least gathered 10 homers:
08:50 and they spread them all abroad for themselves round about
08:53 the camp. And while the flesh was yet between their teeth
08:57 ere it was chewed, the wrath of the Lord was kindled against
09:01 the people. And the Lord smote the people with a very great
09:04 plague. And He called the name of that place Kibrothhattaavah:
09:09 because there they buried the people that lusted.
09:13 And the people journeyed from Kibroth Hattaavah unto
09:17 Hazeroth and abode at Hazeroth.
09:20 We are continuing to read in the book of Numbers. This is
09:23 chapter 12 and this is the King James Version.
09:25 And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the
09:32 Ethiopian woman whom he had married. For he had married an
09:36 Ethiopian woman and they said, Hath the Lord indeed spoken only
09:41 by Moses? Hath he not spoken also by us? And the Lord heard
09:47 it. Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men
09:52 which were upon the face of the earth. And the Lord spake
09:56 suddenly unto Moses, and unto Aaron and unto Miriam,
10:00 Come out ye three unto the tabernacle of the congregation.
10:02 And they three came out. And the Lord came down in the pillar
10:09 of the cloud and stood in the door of the tabernacle,
10:11 and called Aaron and Miriam, and they both came forth.
10:15 And He said, Hear now My words, If there be a prophet among you,
10:21 I, the Lord will make myself known unto him in a vision,
10:26 and will speak unto him in a dream. My servant Moses
10:30 is not so, who is faithful in all mine house.
10:34 With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently,
10:39 and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the Lord shall
10:43 he behold. Wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against
10:48 my servant Moses? And the anger of the Lord was kindled against
10:53 them and He departed. And the cloud departed from off the
10:58 tabernacle and behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow:
11:03 And Aaron looked upon Miriam and behold she was leprous.
11:06 And Aaron said unto Moses, Alas my Lord I beseech the, lay not
11:11 the sin upon us, wherein we have done foolishly and wherein we
11:15 have sinned. Let her not be as one dead of whom the flesh is
11:20 half consumed when he cometh out of his mother's womb.
11:22 And Moses cried unto the Lord, saying, Heal her now, O God, I
11:27 beseech thee. And the Lord said unto Moses, If her father had
11:33 but spit in her face, should she not be ashamed seven days?
11:36 Let her be shut out from the camp 7 days, and after that
11:41 let her be received in again. And Miriam was shut out from
11:46 the camp 7 days: and the people journeyed not till Miriam was
11:50 brought in again. And afterward the people removed from Hazeroth
11:55 and pitched in the wilderness of Paran.
11:57 We're continuing in the book of Numbers and we're on chapter 13
12:01 and this is the King James Version.
12:03 And the Lord spake unto Moses saying, send thou men, that they
12:07 may search the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children
12:11 of Israel: of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send a
12:15 man, every one a ruler among them.
12:17 And Moses, by the commandment of the Lord sent them from the
12:22 wilderness of Paran. All those men were heads
12:26 of the children of Israel. And these were their names:
12:29 of the tribe or Reuben, Shammua the son of Zaccur.
12:34 Of the tribe of Simeon, Shaphalt the son of Hori.
12:38 Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh.
12:42 Of the tribe of Issachar, Igal the son of Joseph.
12:47 Of the tribe of Ephraim, Oshea the son of Nun.
12:51 Of the tribe of Benjamin, Palti the son of Raphu.
12:56 Of the tribe of Zebulbn, Gaddiel the son of Sodi.
13:00 Of the tribe of Joseph, namely of the tribe of Manasseh,
13:04 Gaddi the son of Susi.
13:07 Of the tribe of Dan, Ammiel the son of Gemalli.
13:11 Of the tribe of Asher, Sethur the son of Michael.
13:14 Of the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi the son of Vophsi.
13:18 Of the tribe of Gad, Geuel the son of Machi.
13:23 These are the names of the men which Moses sent to spy out
13:27 the land. Moses called Oshea the son of Nun, Jehoshua.
13:33 And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said
13:37 unto them, Get you up this way southward, and go up into the
13:39 mountain and see the land, what it is, and the people
13:42 that dwelleth therin, whether they be strong or weak,
13:45 few or many; and what the land is that they dwell in,
13:50 whether it be good or bad; and what cities they be that they
13:54 dwell in, whether in tents, or in strongholds;
13:57 And what the land is, whether it be fat or lean,
14:01 whether there be wood therin, or not.
14:04 And be ye of good courage. and bring of the fruit
14:09 of the land. Now the time was the time of the first ripe
14:12 grapes So they went up and searched the land from the
14:17 wilderness of Zin unto Rehob, as men come to Hamath. And they
14:22 ascended by the south and came unto Hebron; where Ahiman,
14:26 Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, were.
14:28 Now Hebron was built 7 years before Zoan in Egypt.
14:32 Thank you for being with me to read and please join me again
14:35 next time to read the word of God together. Goodbye.
