00:15 Hi and welcome back to His Words Are Life.
00:18 I'm Kelly Mowrer, and thank you
00:19 for joining with me today to read the Word of God.
00:22 We've been spending some time in the last few times we've been
00:25 together reading the different rules and guidelines that God
00:31 was laying down to Moses and the
00:32 children of Israel regarding the
00:34 sacrifices and then more
00:35 recently regarding leprosy.
00:37 And it's sort of a temptation, I guess, for me sometimes
00:41 in reading these things to... to lose sight.
00:44 They don't apply specifically to my life.
00:48 But in reading them together, I don't want us to lose sight
00:51 of how they can apply in principle to our lives.
00:54 And it occurred to me as we were reading
00:56 and as we will continue to read, particularly about the leprosy
00:59 and about the aspect of the unclean and the clean,
01:03 that... you know, Proverbs says a few flies ruin the ointment.
01:07 And God was so concerned that the Israelites keep their houses
01:13 and their garments and their lives clean before Him that He
01:16 that He laid out all these rules. And the lesson I...
01:18 that it struck me as we were reading is that anything in my
01:22 life, no matter how tiny, and how small or minute, that
01:26 contributes to distancing me from God is unclean
01:30 and I need that washed out by the power of His blood.
01:33 Let's pray together before we keep reading.
01:35 Dear God, thank you so much for these words that serve to...
01:40 to guide us closer to You, and that's where we want most
01:43 to be. As we read about the laws and the guidelines
01:49 that You gave regarding the cleansing of houses and garments
01:54 and skin and the things... hair... the things that were
01:57 affected by leprosy in the days of the Israelites,
02:00 show us what in our lives we need to bring to You to
02:04 cleanse with Your blood... even the littlest of things.
02:08 We don't want anything standing between us and You.
02:11 We want to be Yours completely.
02:14 Please guide us now as we read. Send Your Holy Spirit to
02:17 lead us into a deeper under- standing of Your truth.
02:19 We love You so much, and thank You for loving us. Amen.
02:23 We'll continue now in reading of Leviticus.
02:26 We're in chapter 14; we'll begin with verse 42.
02:29 I'm sorry. We'll begin with verse 43.
02:33 It's talking about leprosy being found within a house
02:36 and how that is to be cleaned, rebuilt.
02:39 This is the King James version.
02:40 Leviticus 14 verse 43.
02:42 And if the plague come again, and break out in the house,
02:46 after that he hath taken away the stones, and after he hath
02:50 scraped the house, and after it is plastered;
02:52 Then the priest shall come and look, and, behold, if the plague
02:55 be spread in the house, it is a fretting leprosy in the house:
02:59 it is unclean.
03:00 And he shall break down the house, the stones of it,
03:03 and the timber thereof, and all the mortar of the house;
03:05 and he shall carry them forth out of the city
03:08 into an unclean place.
03:09 Moreover he that goeth into the house all the while that it is
03:13 shut up shall be unclean until the even.
03:16 And he that lieth in the house shall wash his clothes;
03:18 and he that eateth in the house shall wash his clothes.
03:21 And if the priest shall come in and look upon it,
03:24 and, behold, the plague hath not spread in the house,
03:27 after the house was plastered: then the priest shall pronounce
03:30 the house clean, because the plague is healed.
03:33 And he shall take to cleanse the house two birds,
03:37 and cedar wood, and scarlet, and hyssop:
03:39 And he shall kill the one of the birds in an earthen vessel
03:43 over running water: And he shall take the cedar wood,
03:46 and the hyssop, and the scarlet, and the living bird,
03:49 and dip them in the blood of the slain bird,
03:52 and in the running water, and sprinkle the house seven times:
03:56 And he shall cleanse the house with the blood of the bird,
03:59 and with the running water, and with the living bird,
04:02 and with the cedar wood, and with the hyssop,
04:03 and with the scarlet: And he shall let go the living bird
04:07 out of the city into the open fields, and make an atonement
04:10 for the house: and it shall be clean.
04:13 This is the law for all manner of plague of leprosy, and scall,
04:18 And for the leprosy of a garment, and of a house,
04:22 For a rising, and for a scab, and for a bright spot:
04:24 To teach when it is unclean, and when it is clean:
04:28 this is the law of leprosy.
04:31 Continuing to read now in
04:32 Leviticus in chapter 15.
04:34 This is the King James version.
04:36 And the Lord spake unto Moses and to Aaron, saying,
04:39 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them,
04:42 When any man hath a running issue out of his flesh,
04:45 because of his issue he is unclean.
04:48 And this shall be his uncleanness in his issue:
04:51 whether his flesh run with his issue or his flesh be stopped
04:54 from his issue, it is his uncleanness.
04:57 Every bed, whereon he lieth that hath the issue, is unclean:
05:02 and every thing, whereon he sitteth, shall be unclean.
05:06 And whosoever toucheth his bed shall wash his clothes,
05:11 and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.
05:14 And he that sitteth on any thing whereon he sat that hath
05:19 the issue shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself
05:22 in water, and be unclean until the even.
05:25 And he that toucheth the flesh of him that hath the issue
05:29 shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water,
05:32 and be unclean until the even.
05:34 And if he that hath the issue spit upon him that is clean;
05:39 then he shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water,
05:42 and be unclean until the even.
05:44 And what saddle soever he rideth upon that hath the issue
05:49 shall be unclean. And whosoever toucheth any thing that was
05:53 under him shall be unclean until the even:
05:55 and he that beareth any of those things shall wash his clothes,
05:58 and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.
06:02 And whosoever he toucheth that hath the issue, and hath not
06:06 rinsed his hands in water, he shall wash his clothes,
06:09 and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.
06:12 And the vessel of earth, that he toucheth which hath the issue,
06:17 shall be broken: and every vessel of wood shall be
06:20 rinsed in water. And when he that hath the issue is cleansed
06:24 of his issue; then he shall number to himself seven days
06:28 for his cleansing, and wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh
06:31 in running water, and shall be clean.
06:34 And on the eighth day he shall take to him two turtledoves,
06:38 or two young pigeons, and come before the Lord
06:41 unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation,
06:44 and give them unto the priest:
06:46 And the priest shall offer them, the one for a sin offering,
06:50 the other for a burnt offering: and the priest shall make an
06:54 atonement for him before the Lord for his issue.
06:56 And if any man's seed of copulation go out from him,
07:01 then he shall wash all his flesh in water, and be unclean
07:04 until the even. And every garment, and every skin,
07:07 whereon is the seed of copulation, shall be washed
07:10 with water, and be unclean until the even.
07:13 The woman also with whom man shall lie
07:16 with seed of copulation, they shall both bathe themselves
07:18 in water, and be unclean until the even.
07:21 And if a woman have an issue, and her issue in her flesh
07:25 be blood, she shall be put apart seven days: and whosoever
07:29 toucheth her shall be unclean until the even.
07:31 And every thing that she lieth upon in her separation
07:35 shall be unclean: every thing also that she sitteth upon
07:39 shall be unclean. And whosoever toucheth her bed
07:42 shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water,
07:45 and be unclean until the even.
07:46 And whosoever toucheth any thing that she sat upon shall wash
07:50 his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean
07:53 until the even. And if it be on her bed,
07:56 or on any thing whereon she sitteth, when he toucheth it,
07:59 he shall be unclean until the even.
08:01 And if any man lie with her at all,
08:04 and her flowers be upon him,
08:06 he shall be unclean seven days, and all the bed whereon he lieth
08:10 shall be unclean. And if a woman have an issue of her blood
08:13 many days out of the time of her separation,
08:16 or if it run beyond the time of her separation;
08:19 all the days of the issue of her uncleanness shall be as the
08:23 days of her separation: she shall be unclean.
08:26 Every bed whereon she lieth all the days of her issue
08:30 shall be unto her as the bed of her separation:
08:32 and whatsoever she sitteth upon shall be unclean,
08:35 as the uncleanness of her separation.
08:38 And whosoever toucheth those things shall be unclean,
08:41 and shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water,
08:44 and be unclean until the even.
08:46 But if she be cleansed of her issue, then she shall number
08:50 to herself seven days, and after that she shall be clean.
08:54 And on the eighth day she shall take unto her two turtles,
08:58 or two young pigeons, and bring them unto the priest,
09:02 to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
09:04 And the priest shall offer the one for a sin offering,
09:07 and the other for a burnt offering;
09:09 and the priest shall make an atonement for her
09:11 before the Lord for the issue of her uncleanness.
09:14 Thus shall ye separate the children of Israel from their
09:17 uncleanness; that they die not in their uncleanness,
09:21 when they defile my tabernacle that is among them.
09:24 This is the law of him that hath an issue and of him
09:27 whose seed goeth from him, and is defiled therewith;
09:30 And of her that is sick of her flowers,
09:32 and of him that hath an issue,
09:33 of the man, and of the woman, and of him that lieth with her
09:37 that is unclean.
09:38 We are continuing now with Leviticus in chapter 16.
09:43 This is the King James version.
09:44 And the Lord spake unto Moses after the death of the two sons
09:49 of Aaron, when they offered before the Lord, and died;
09:52 And the Lord said unto Moses, speak unto Aaron thy brother,
09:55 that he come not at all times into the holy place
09:58 within the veil before the mercy seat,
10:00 which is upon the ark; that he die not:
10:02 for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat.
10:05 Thus shall Aaron come into the holy place:
10:08 with a young bullock for a sin offering,
10:11 and a ram for a burnt offering.
10:13 He shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the
10:16 linen breeches upon his flesh, and shall be girded with a linen
10:19 girdle, and with the linen mitre shall he be attired:
10:22 these are holy garments; therefore shall he wash his
10:26 flesh in water, and so put them on.
10:28 And he shall take of the congregation of the children
10:31 of Israel two kids of the goats for a sin offering,
10:34 and one ram for a burnt offering.
10:36 And Aaron shall offer his bullock of the sin offering,
10:39 which is for himself, and make an atonement for himself,
10:42 and for his house. And he shall take the two goats,
10:46 and present them before the Lord at the door of the tabernacle
10:49 of the congregation. And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two
10:52 goats; one lot for the Lord, and the other lot for the scapegoat.
10:58 And Aaron shall bring the goat upon which the Lord's lot fell,
11:02 and offer him for a sin offering.
11:05 But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat,
11:09 shall be presented alive before the Lord,
11:12 to make an atonement with him, and to let him go
11:15 for a scapegoat into the wilderness.
11:17 And Aaron shall bring the bullock of the sin offering,
11:20 which is for himself, and shall make an atonement for himself,
11:23 and for his house, and shall kill the bullock of the sin
11:26 offering which is for himself: And he shall take a censer
11:30 full of burning coals of fire from off the altar
11:33 before the Lord, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten
11:36 small, and bring it within the veil:
11:40 And he shall put the incense upon the fire before the Lord,
11:43 that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat
11:47 that is upon the testimony, that he die not:
11:50 And he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it
11:54 with his finger upon the mercy seat eastward;
11:56 and before the mercy seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with
11:59 his finger seven times. Then shall he kill the goat
12:03 of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood
12:06 within the veil, and do with that blood as he did with the
12:09 blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat,
12:11 and before the mercy seat: And he shall make an atonement
12:15 for the holy place, because of the uncleanness of the children
12:17 of Israel, and because of their transgressions in all their
12:20 sins: and so shall he do for the tabernacle of the congregation,
12:24 that remaineth among them in the midst of their uncleanness.
12:27 And there shall be no man in the tabernacle of the congregation
12:30 when he goeth in to make an atonement in the holy place,
12:33 until he come out; and have made an atonement for himself,
12:37 and for his household, and for all the congregation of Israel.
12:40 And he shall go out unto the altar that is before the Lord,
12:43 and make an atonement for it; and shall take of the blood
12:46 of the bullock, and of the blood of the goat,
12:48 and put it upon the horns of the altar round about.
12:51 And he shall sprinkle of the blood upon it with his finger
12:54 seven times, and cleanse it, and hallow it from the
12:57 uncleanness of the children of Israel.
13:00 And when he hath made an end of reconciling the holy place,
13:03 and the tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar,
13:05 he shall bring the live goat:
13:08 And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the
13:10 live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the
13:14 children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all
13:17 their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat,
13:20 and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man
13:24 into the wilderness: And the goat shall bear upon him
13:28 all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited:
13:31 and he shall let the goat go in the wilderness.
13:34 And Aaron shall come into the tabernacle of the congregation,
13:38 and shall put off the linen garments, which he put on when
13:41 he went into the holy place, and shall leave them there:
13:43 And he shall wash his flesh with water in the holy place,
13:46 and put on his garments, and come forth,
13:48 and offer his burnt offering, and the burnt offering of the
13:51 people, and make an atonement for himself, and for the people.
13:55 And the fat of the sin offering shall he burn upon the altar.
13:58 And he that let go the goat for
14:01 the scapegoat shall wash his
14:02 clothes, and bathe his flesh
14:04 in water, and afterward come into the camp.
14:06 And the bullock for the sin offering,
14:07 and the goat for the sin offering,
14:09 whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the holy place
14:11 shall one carry forth without the camp; and they shall burn
14:15 in the fire their skins, and their flesh, and their dung.
14:18 And he that burneth them shall wash his clothes,
14:21 and bathe his flesh in water,
14:22 and afterward he shall come into the camp.
14:25 And this shall be a statute for ever unto you:
14:27 that in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month,
14:31 ye shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all,
14:33 whether it be one of your own country,
14:35 or a stranger that sojourneth among you:
14:38 Please join me next time. Goodbye.
