00:16 Hi, welcome back to His Words Are Life.
00:19 I'm Kelly Mowrer, and today 00:21 we're reading from the book of Exodus. 00:22 But before we read, let's pray together. 00:25 Dear Jesus, thank You so much for becoming the Passover Lamb 00:30 for each one of us so that when sin would come 00:33 and we would die, you instead stood in our place 00:37 and became life for us. And not only life eternal 00:41 but the life that we will have here and now serving You 00:44 strengthened by the words that we are about to read. 00:47 Please be with us as we read. 00:48 Bless us and guide us to a deeper understanding of You. 00:51 We love You so much and thank You for loving us, Amen. 00:55 We are reading in the book of Exodus about God sending 01:00 Moses and Aaron to set the Israelites free from 01:03 the Egyptians. They have just celebrated the Passover 01:07 and are leaving Egypt. And we pick up the story now 01:10 in Exodus chapter 13 verse 14. This is the King James version. 01:16 And it shall be when thy son asketh thee in time to come, 01:20 saying, What is this? that thou shalt say unto him, 01:23 By strength of hand the Lord brought us out from Egypt, 01:27 from the house of bondage. 01:28 And it came to pass, when Pharaoh would hardly let us go, 01:32 that the Lord slew all the first-born in the land of Egypt, 01:36 both the first-born of man, and the first-born of beast: 01:38 therefore I sacrifice to the Lord 01:41 all that openeth the matrix, being males; 01:44 but all the first-born of my children I redeem. 01:47 And it shall be for a token upon thine hand, and for frontlets 01:51 between thine eyes: for by strength of hand 01:53 the Lord brought us forth out of Egypt. 01:55 And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, 01:59 that God led them not through the way of the land of the 02:02 Philistines, although that was near; for God said, 02:06 Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, 02:09 and they return to Egypt: 02:11 But God led the people about, 02:13 through the way of the wilderness of the Red Sea: 02:16 and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land 02:18 of Egypt. And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: 02:23 for he had straightly sworn the children of Israel, saying, 02:26 God will surely visit you; and you shall carry up my bones 02:29 away hence with you. 02:31 And they took their journey from Succoth, 02:33 and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness. 02:36 And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud, 02:40 to lead them in the way; 02:41 and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; 02:45 to go by day and night: 02:47 He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, 02:50 nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people. 02:54 We are reading in the book of Exodus, chapter 14, and this 02:58 is the King James version. 03:00 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, 03:02 Speak unto the children of Israel, that they turn and 03:05 encamp before Pihahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, 03:10 over against Baalzephon: before it shall ye encamp by the sea. 03:14 For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, they are 03:17 entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in. 03:20 And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, that he shall follow 03:23 after them; and I will be honored upon Pharaoh, 03:28 and upon all his host; that the Egyptians may know 03:31 that I am the Lord. And they did so. 03:34 And it was told the king of Egypt that the people fled: 03:38 and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was turned against 03:42 the people, and they said, Why have we done this, 03:45 that we have let Israel go from serving us? 03:48 And he made ready his chariot, and took his people with him: 03:51 And he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots 03:55 of Egypt, and captains over every one of them. 03:58 And the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, 04:03 and he pursued after the children of Israel: 04:06 and the children of Israel went out with a high hand. 04:11 But the Egyptians pursued after them, 04:12 all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, 04:14 and his horsemen, and his army, 04:16 and overtook them encamping by the sea, 04:19 beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon. 04:22 And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up 04:26 their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; 04:29 and they were sore afraid: 04:32 and the children of Israel cried out unto the Lord. 04:34 And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves 04:37 in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? 04:40 wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth 04:44 out of Egypt? Is not this the word that we did 04:48 tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, 04:51 that we may serve the Egyptians? 04:53 For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, 04:56 than that we should die in the wilderness. 04:58 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, 05:01 stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, 05:04 which He will show to you today: for the Egyptians whom you have 05:08 seen today, you shall see them again no more for ever. 05:12 The Lord shall fight for you, and you shall hold your peace. 05:18 And the Lord said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto Me? 05:22 speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward: 05:25 But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand 05:28 over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel 05:32 shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea. 05:36 And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, 05:41 and they shall follow them: and I will get Me honor 05:44 upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, 05:47 and upon his horsemen. 05:49 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, 05:52 when I have gotten Me honor upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, 05:56 and upon his horsemen. 05:58 And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, 06:01 removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud 06:06 went from before their face, and stood behind them: 06:09 And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp 06:12 of Israel; and it was a cloud of darkness to them, 06:16 but it gave light by night to these: 06:19 so that the one came not near the other all night. 06:23 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; 06:26 and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind 06:31 all that night, and made the sea dry land, 06:35 and the waters were divided. 06:37 And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea 06:41 upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them 06:44 on their right hand, and on their left. 06:47 And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them 06:50 to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh's horses, 06:53 his chariots, and his horsemen. 06:56 And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the Lord looked 07:00 unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire 07:03 and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians. 07:07 And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them 07:10 heavily, so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face 07:14 of Israel, for the Lord fighteth for them against the Egyptians. 07:17 And the Lord said unto Moses, stretch out thine hand 07:21 over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the 07:25 Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen. 07:29 And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea 07:32 returned to his strength when the morning appeared; 07:34 and the Egyptians fled against it; and the Lord overthrew 07:38 the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. 07:40 And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, 07:43 and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came 07:46 into the sea after them; 07:47 there remained not so much as one of them. 07:50 But the children of Israel walked upon dry land 07:54 in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them 07:58 on their right hand and on their left. Thus the Lord 08:02 saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; 08:05 and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the seashore. 08:09 And Israel saw that great work which the Lord did upon the 08:14 Egyptians: and the people feared the Lord, 08:16 and believed the Lord, and his servant Moses. 08:20 We're continuing with Exodus 08:22 chapter 15. 08:24 Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song 08:28 unto the Lord, and spake, saying, 08:30 I will sing unto the Lord, for He hath triumphed gloriously; 08:34 the horse and his rider hath He thrown into the sea. 08:37 The Lord is my strength and song, 08:41 and He is become my salvation: 08:43 He is my God, and I will prepare Him an habitation; 08:46 my father's God, and I will exalt Him. 08:49 The Lord is a man of war: the Lord is His name. 08:53 Pharaoh's chariots and his host hath He cast into the sea; 08:57 his chosen captains also are drowned in the Red Sea. 09:01 The depths have covered them: 09:03 they sank into the bottom as a stone. 09:05 Thy right hand, O Lord, has become glorious in power: 09:10 Thy right hand, O Lord, hath dashed in pieces the enemy. 09:14 And in the greatness of Thine excellency Thou has overthrown 09:17 them that rose up against Thee; 09:19 Thou sentest forth Thy wrath, which consumed them as stubble. 09:25 And with the blast of Thy nostrils the waters were 09:28 gathered together, the floods stood upright as a heap, 09:31 and the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea. 09:34 The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, 09:38 I will divide the spoil; my lust shall be satisfied upon them; 09:42 I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them. 09:45 Thou didst blow with Thy wind, the sea covered them: 09:50 they sank as lead in the mighty waters. 09:53 Who is like unto Thee, O Lord, among the gods? 09:56 Who is like Thee, glorious in holiness, 10:00 fearful in praises, doing wonders? 10:03 Thou stretched out Thy right hand, the earth swallowed them. 10:07 Thou in Thy mercy hast led forth the people 10:11 which Thou has redeemed: 10:13 Thou hast guided them in Thy strength 10:15 unto Thy holy habitation. 10:17 The people shall hear, and be afraid: 10:20 sorrow shall take hold on the habitants of Palestina. 10:24 When the dukes of Edom shall be amazed; 10:26 the mighty men of Moab, 10:28 trembling shall take hold upon them; 10:30 all the inhabitants of Canaan shall melt away. 10:33 Fear and dread shall fall upon them; 10:36 by the greatness of Thine arm 10:38 they shall be as still as a stone; 10:41 till Thy people pass over, O Lord, 10:43 till the people pass over, which Thou hast purchased. 10:47 Thou shalt bring them in, 10:49 and plant them in the mountain of Thine inheritance, 10:51 in the place, O Lord, which Thou has made for Thee to dwell in; 10:54 in the sanctuary, O Lord, which Thy hands have established. 10:59 The Lord shall reign for ever and ever. 11:02 For the horse of Pharaoh went in with his chariots 11:05 and with his horsemen into the sea, 11:07 and the Lord brought again the waters of the sea upon them; 11:11 but the children of Israel went on dry land 11:15 in the midst of the sea. 11:16 And Miriam, the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, 11:20 took a timbrel in her hand; 11:22 and all the women went out after her with timbrels 11:26 and with dances. And Miriam answered them, 11:28 Sing ye to the Lord, for He hath triumphed gloriously; 11:32 the horse and his rider hath He thrown into the sea. 11:35 So Moses brought Israel from the Red Sea, 11:38 and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; 11:41 and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water. 11:45 When they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters 11:49 of Marah, for they were bitter: 11:50 and therefore the name of it was called Marah. 11:52 And the people murmured against Moses, saying, 11:55 What shall we drink? 11:57 And he cried unto the Lord; and the Lord showed him a tree, 12:00 which, when he had cast into the waters, 12:03 the waters were made sweet: 12:05 there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, 12:09 and there he proved them, 12:10 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken 12:14 to the voice of the Lord thy God, 12:15 and will do that which is right in His sight, 12:18 and will give ear to His commandments, 12:21 and keep all His statutes, 12:23 I will put none of these diseases upon thee, 12:27 which I have brought upon the Egyptians: 12:29 for I am the Lord that healeth thee. 12:32 And they came to Elim, where were twelve wells of water, 12:36 and threescore and ten palm trees: 12:39 and they encamped there by the waters. 12:42 Continuing to read in Exodus chapter 16. 12:45 And this is the King James version. 12:48 And they took their journey from Elim, 12:50 and all the congregation of the children of Israel 12:53 came unto the wilderness of Sin, 12:55 which is between Elim and Sinai, 12:57 on the fifteenth day of the second month after 13:00 their departing out of the land of Egypt. 13:02 The whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured 13:05 against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness: 13:07 And the children of Israel said unto them, 13:09 Would to God we had died by the hand of the Lord 13:12 in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh pots, 13:14 and when we did eat bread to the full; 13:16 for you brought us forth into this wilderness, 13:19 to kill this whole assembly with hunger. 13:20 Then said the Lord unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread 13:26 from heaven for you; and the people shall go out 13:28 and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, 13:32 whether they will walk in My law or no. 13:35 And it shall come to pass, that on the sixth day they shall 13:38 prepare that which they bring in; and it shall be twice 13:40 as much as they gather daily. 13:42 And Moses and Aaron said unto all the children of Israel, 13:45 At even, when ye shall know that the Lord hath brought you 13:49 out from the land of Egypt: 13:50 And in the morning, then ye shall see the glory of the Lord; 13:54 for that He heareth your murmurings against the Lord: 13:58 and what are we, that ye murmured against us? 14:00 And Moses said, This shall be, when the Lord shall give you 14:04 in the evening flesh to eat, 14:05 and in the morning bread to the full; 14:08 for that the Lord heareth your murmurings which ye murmur 14:11 against Him: and what are we? 14:13 your murmurings are not against us, but against the Lord. 14:17 And Moses spake unto Aaron, 14:19 Say unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, 14:22 Come near before the Lord: for He hath heard your murmurings. 14:27 Thank you for joining with me to read today the Word of God. 14:30 Until we're together again, may God bless and keep you. 14:33 Goodbye. |
