00:17 Hi, and welcome back to His Words are Life.
00:19 I'm Kelly Mowrer, and thank you for joining with me, today, 00:22 to read the word of God. Before we start to read again from the 00:25 book of Exodus, let's pray together. 00:26 Dear God, thank you so much for the story that we're about to 00:31 read of how you saved your people out of bondage, 00:35 out of slavery. Thank you for how you save each of us. Help us 00:40 to listen to these words; but not just let them fall loosely 00:46 into our minds, but may they fall deep and take root 00:49 and bear fruit for your glory. We love you so much, 00:52 and thank you for loving us. Amen. 00:55 We're reading about how God came to Moses in the wilderness, 01:00 in the burning bush that didn't burn. And commissioned him to go 01:05 into Egypt and free the Israelites. And it says that 01:08 Moses went forth with the rod of God in his hand. 01:11 And were going to pick up now in Exodus, chapter 4, 01:14 with verse 21. This is The King James Version. 01:18 And the Lord said unto Moses, When thou guest to return 01:23 into Egypt, see that thou do all those wonders before Pharaoh, 01:26 which I have put in thine hand: and I will harden his heart, 01:29 he shall not let the people go. And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, 01:34 Thus saith the Lord, Israel is my son, even my firstborn: 01:38 And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: 01:43 and if thou refuse to let him go behold, I will slay thy son, 01:47 even thy firstborn: And it came to pass by the way in the inn, 01:53 that the Lord met him, and sought to kill him. 01:55 Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin 01:58 of her son, and cast it at his feet, said, Surely a bloody 02:01 husband art thou to me. 02:03 So he let him go: then she said, A bloody husband thou art, 02:07 because of the circumcision. And the Lord said to Aaron, 02:09 Go into the wilderness to meet Moses. And he went, and met him 02:13 in the mount of God, and kissed him. And Moses told Aaron 02:17 all the words of the Lord who had sent him, and all the signs 02:20 which he had commanded him. And Moses and Aaron went 02:23 and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel 02:26 and Aaron spake all the words which the Lord had spoken unto 02:30 Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people. 02:33 And the people believed: and when thy heard that the Lord 02:37 had visited the children of Israel, and that he had looked 02:39 upon their affliction then they bowed their heads and worshipped 02:43 Continuing now with Exodus, chapter 5. 02:46 And this is the King James Version. 02:47 And Afterward Moses and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh, 02:52 Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Let my people go, 02:55 that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness. 02:59 And Pharaoh said, Who is the Lord, that I should obey 03:04 his voice to let Israel go? I know not the Lord, 03:07 neither will I let Israel go. And they said, 03:12 The God of the Hebrews hath met with us: let us go we pray thee, 03:16 three days journey into the desert, and sacrifice 03:19 unto the Lord our God; lest he fall upon us with pestilence, 03:23 or with the sword. And the king of Egypt said unto them, 03:27 Wherefore do ye, Moses and Aaron let the people from their works? 03:31 Get you unto your burdens. And Pharaoh said, Behold the people 03:35 of the land now are many, and ye make them rest from their 03:38 burdens. And Pharaoh commanded the same day the taskmasters of 03:43 the people, and their officers, saying, Ye shall no more give 03:46 the people straw to make brick, as heretofore: let them go 03:51 and gather straw for themselves. And the tale of the bricks, 03:55 which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; 03:58 ye shall not diminish aught thereof: for they be idle; 04:02 therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice 04:05 to our God. Let there more work be laid upon the men, 04:09 that they may labor therein; and let then not regard vain words. 04:13 And the taskmasters of the people went out, and their 04:16 officers, and they spake to the people, saying, Thus saith 04:19 Pharaoh, I will not give you straw. Go ye, get you straw. 04:24 where ye can find it: yet not aught of your work shall be 04:27 diminished. So the people were scattered abroad throughout all 04:31 the land of Egypt to gather stubble instead of straw. 04:34 And the taskmasters hasted them, saying, Fulfill your works, 04:38 your daily tasks, as when there was straw. And the officers 04:43 of the children of Israel, which Pharaoh's taskmasters had set 04:46 over them, were beaten, and demanded, Wherefore have ye not 04:49 fulfilled your task in making brick both yesterday and today, 04:52 as heretofore? Then the officers of the children of 04:56 Israel came and cried unto Pharaoh, saying, Wherefore 04:59 dealest thou thus with thy servants, There is no straw 05:02 given unto thy servants, and they say to us, Make brick: 05:05 and, behold, thy servants are beaten; but the fault is in 05:08 thine own people. But he said, Ye are idle, ye are idle: 05:14 therefore ye say, Let us go and do sacrifice to the Lord. 05:17 Go therefore now, and work; for there shall be no straw 05:22 given you, yet shall ye deliver the tale of bricks. 05:25 And the officers of the children did see that they were 05:28 in evil case, after it was said, Ye shall not minish aught 05:32 from you bricks of your daily task. And they met Moses and 05:35 Aaron, who stood in the way as they came forth from Pharaoh: 05:39 And they said unto them, The Lord look upon you, and judge; 05:43 because ye have made our savor to be abhorred in the eyes of 05:46 Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his servants, to put a sword 05:48 in their hand to slay us. And Moses returned unto the Lord, 05:51 and said, Lord, wherefore hast thou so evil entreated 05:55 this people? Why is it that thou hast sent me? 05:57 For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in thy name, he hath done 06:01 evil to this people; neither hast thou delivered thy people 06:05 at all. - Continuing in chapter six, of Exodus. 06:10 Then the Lord said unto Moses, Now shalt thou see what I will 06:15 do to Pharaoh: for with a strong hand shall he let them go and 06:19 with a strong hand shall he drive them out of this land. 06:22 And God spake unto Moses, and said unto them, I am the Lord: 06:25 And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac and unto Jacob, 06:29 by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH 06:32 was I not known to them. And I have also established my 06:36 covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan, the land of 06:39 their pilgrimage wherein they were strangers. 06:41 And I have also heard the groaning of the children of 06:44 Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in bondage and I have remembered 06:48 my covenant. Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, 06:52 I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the burdens 06:55 of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, 06:58 and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, 07:01 and with great judgments: And I will take you to me 07:05 for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know 07:08 that I am the Lord, your God, which bringeth you out from 07:11 under the burdens of the Egyptians. And I will bring 07:14 you in unto the land, concerning the which I did swear 07:18 to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it 07:22 to you for an heritage; I am the Lord. And Moses spake so unto 07:28 the children of Israel: but they hearkened not unto Moses 07:32 for anguish of spirit, and for cruel bondage. And the Lord 07:37 spake unto Moses, saying, Go in, speak unto Pharaoh 07:41 king of Egypt, that he let the children of Israel go out 07:44 of his land. And Moses spake before the Lord, saying, Behold, 07:49 the children of Israel have not hearkened unto me; 07:51 How then shall Pharaoh hear me: who am of uncircumcised lips? 07:55 And the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, and gave them 07:59 a charge unto the children of Israel, and unto Pharaoh 08:03 king of Egypt to bring the children of Israel out of 08:05 the land of Egypt. These be the heads of their fathers household 08:11 I am going to skip some of this genealogy here. It looks like 08:15 it continues on over. Let's pick it up on Exodus six, and 08:23 we'll pick up with verse 26. These are that Aaron and Moses, 08:30 to whom the Lord said, Bring out the children of Israel from the 08:33 land of Egypt according to their armies. These are they which 08:36 spake to Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring out the children of 08:39 Israel from Egypt: these are that Moses and Aaron. 08:43 And it came to pass on the day when the Lord spake unto Moses 08:47 in the land of Egypt, that the Lord spake unto Moses, 08:49 saying, I am the Lord: speak thou unto Pharaoh king of Egypt 08:54 all that I say unto thee. And Moses said before the Lord, 08:58 Behold, I am of uncircumcised lips, and how shall Pharaoh 09:02 hearken unto me? - We're reading in Exodus, chapter 7, verse 1. 09:08 And the Lord said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god 09:12 to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet. 09:15 Thou shalt speak all that I command thee: and Aaron 09:19 thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh, that he send the 09:22 children of Israel out of his land. And I will harden 09:25 Pharaoh's heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders 09:28 in the land of Egypt. But Pharaoh shall not hearken 09:31 unto you, that I may lay my hand upon Egypt, and bring forth 09:36 mine armies, and my people the children of Israel, 09:39 out of the land of Egypt by great judgments. 09:41 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I 09:46 stretch forth mine hand upon Egypt, and bring out the 09:49 children of Israel from among them. And Moses and Aaron did 09:54 as the Lord commanded them, so did they. And Moses was four 09:58 score years old, and Aaron fourscore and three years old, 10:01 when they spake unto Pharaoh. And the Lord spake unto Moses 10:04 and unto Aaron, saying, When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, 10:07 saying, Shew a miracle for you: then thou shalt say unto Aaron, 10:11 take thy rod, and cast it before Pharaoh, and it shall 10:15 become a serpent. And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, 10:19 and they did so as the Lord had commanded: and Aaron cast down 10:23 his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, 10:26 and it became a serpent. Then Pharaoh also called the wise men 10:31 and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also 10:35 did in like manner with their enchantments. For they cast 10:38 down every man his rod, and they became serpents 10:40 but Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods. And he hardened 10:47 Pharaoh's heart, that he hearkened not unto them; 10:50 as the Lord had said. And the Lord said unto Moses, 10:52 Pharaoh's heart is hardened, he refuseth to let the people go 10:56 Get thee unto Pharaoh in the morning; lo, he goeth out unto 11:01 the water; and thou shalt stand by the river's brink against 11:04 he come; and the rod which was turned to a serpent shalt 11:08 thou take in thine hand. And thou shalt say unto him, 11:12 and the Lord God of the Hebrews hath sent me unto thee, saying, 11:15 Let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness: 11:18 and, behold, hitherto thou wouldest not hear. 11:22 Thus saith the Lord, In this thou shalt know that I am 11:25 the Lord: behold, I will smite with the rod that is in mine 11:29 hand upon the waters which are in the river, and they shall be 11:32 turned to blood. And the fish that is in the river shall die, 11:36 and the river shall stink; and the Egyptians shall loathe to 11:40 drink of the water of the river. And the Lord spake unto Moses, 11:44 Say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and stretch out thine hand 11:48 upon the waters of Egypt, upon their streams, upon their 11:51 rivers and upon their ponds and upon all their pools of water, 11:55 that they may become blood; and that there may be blood 11:59 throughout all the land of Egypt both in vessels of wood and in 12:03 vessels of stone. And Moses and Aaron did so, as the Lord 12:07 commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and smote the waters that 12:11 were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in sight of his 12:15 servants; and all the waters that were in the river 12:18 were turned to blood. And the fish that was in the river died; 12:22 and the river stank, and the Egyptians could not drink 12:25 of the water of the river; and there was blood throughout 12:28 all the land of Egypt. And the magicians of Egypt did so with 12:33 their enchantments and Pharaoh's heart was hardened, neither did 12:37 he hearken unto them; as the Lord had said. And Pharaoh 12:40 turned and went into his house, neither did he set his heart 12:43 to this also. And all the Egyptians digged round about 12:47 the river for water to drink; for they could not drink of the 12:50 water of the river. And seven days were fulfilled, after that 12:54 the Lord had smitten the river. Continuing with Exodus chapter 8 13:00 And the Lord spake unto Moses, Go unto Pharaoh, and say unto 13:04 him, Thus saith the Lord, Let my people go, that they may serve 13:08 me. And if thou refuse to let them go, behold, I will smite 13:13 all thy borders with frogs: And the river shall bring forth 13:17 frogs abundantly, which shall go up and come into thine house, 13:20 and into thy bedchamber, and upon thy bed, and into the house 13:23 of thy servants, and upon thy people, and into thine ovens, 13:26 and into thy kneadingtroughs: And the frogs shall come up 13:30 both on thee, and upon thy people, and upon all 13:33 thy servants. And the Lord spake unto Moses, Say to Aaron, 13:38 Stretch forth thine hand with thy rod over the streams, 13:41 over the rivers, and over the ponds, and cause frogs to come 13:45 up upon the land of Egypt. And Aaron stretched out his hand 13:49 over the waters of Egypt; and the frogs came up, and covered 13:53 the land of Egypt. And the magicians did so with their 13:56 enchantments, and brought up frogs upon the land of Egypt. 13:58 Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron, and said, Entreat 14:02 the Lord, that he may take away the frogs from me, and from my 14:06 people; and I will let the people go, that they may do 14:09 sacrifice unto the Lord. And Moses said unto Pharaoh, 14:13 Glory over me: when shall I entreat for thee, and for thy 14:16 servants, and for thy people, to destroy the frogs from thee 14:19 and thy houses, that they may remain in the river only? 14:22 And he said, Tomorrow. And he said, be it according to thy 14:27 word: that thou mayest know that there is none 14:30 like unto the Lord our God. |
