00:19 I'm Kelly Mowrer, and today we're going to be reading from 00:22 the third epistle of John. 00:23 But before we begin to read, let's pray together. 00:26 Dear Jesus, we've been reading these different letters from 00:31 John, and over and over again he reminds us that when we 00:37 walk with You, we ought to love each other the way that You 00:40 loved us. 00:41 He reminds us that love is not that we love You, but that You 00:46 first love us, and that You died for us. 00:48 As we read today, may the words that we hear somehow help our 00:54 love to grow; not just toward You, but to Your children 00:58 that You died for that we have around us every day that aren't 01:01 so easy to love. 01:02 But we know, like John wrote, that if we say we love You, 01:06 and we haven't seen You, we don't love those 01:09 that we have seen. 01:10 And then we're not abiding in You. 01:11 And that's what we want to do. 01:12 We want to abide in You. 01:13 Please be with us now as we read. 01:15 We do love You, and we can't thank You enough for loving us. 01:18 Amen. 01:19 Reading from the third epistle of John, 01:22 and starting in verse 7. 01:24 Because that for his name's sake they went forth, taking nothing 01:29 of the Gentiles. 01:30 We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be 01:34 fellow-helpers to the truth. 01:36 I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have 01:41 the preeminence among them, receiveth us not. 01:44 Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds 01:47 which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: 01:51 and not content therewith, neither doeth he himself receive 01:55 the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth 01:59 them out of the church. 02:00 Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. 02:06 He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil 02:09 hath not seen God. 02:11 Demetrius hath good report of all men, and of the truth 02:15 itself: yea, and we also bear record; and ye know that our 02:19 record is true. 02:20 I had many things to write, but I will not with ink and pen 02:25 write unto thee: but I trust I shall shortly see thee, 02:28 and we shall speak face to face. 02:30 Peace be to thee. 02:32 Our friends salute thee. 02:34 Greet the friends by name. 02:36 And now we are reading in Jude, verse 1, and this is the 02:43 King James Version. 02:44 Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, 02:48 to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in 02:52 Jesus Christ, and called: mercy unto you, and peace, and love, 02:57 be multiplied. 02:58 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of 03:02 the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto 03:07 you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the 03:10 faith which was once delivered unto the saints. 03:13 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of 03:19 old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, 03:23 turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying 03:27 the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. 03:31 I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once 03:35 knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of 03:38 the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that 03:41 believed not. 03:42 And the angels which kept not their first estate, 03:46 but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting 03:51 chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. 03:54 Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them in 03:58 like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, 04:01 and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, 04:05 suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. 04:08 Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, 04:12 despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities. 04:17 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil 04:21 he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against 04:26 him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee. 04:30 But these speak evil of those things which they know not: 04:34 but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things 04:38 they corrupt themselves. 04:40 Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, 04:44 and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, 04:47 and perished in the gainsaying of Core. 04:50 These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with 04:55 you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without 04:59 water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, 05:05 without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; 05:09 raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; 05:13 wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of 05:18 darkness for ever. 05:19 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, 05:25 saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his 05:29 saints, to execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that 05:33 are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they 05:38 have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which 05:41 ungodly sinners have spoken against him. 05:44 These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their 05:50 own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, 05:53 having men's persons in admiration because of advantage. 05:58 But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before 06:03 of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; how that they told 06:07 you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk 06:10 after their own ungodly lusts. 06:13 These be they who separate themselves, sensual, 06:17 having not the Spirit. 06:19 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy 06:23 faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, keep yourselves in the 06:27 love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ 06:31 unto eternal life. 06:33 And of some have compassion, making a difference: and others 06:40 save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the 06:44 garment spotted by the flesh. 06:47 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, 06:51 and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory 06:54 with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Savior, 06:58 be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. 07:04 Amen. 07:06 We're going now to the book of Revelation, chapter 1, 07:11 and this is the King James Version. 07:13 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, 07:18 to show unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; 07:22 and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: 07:28 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of 07:31 Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw. 07:34 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this 07:40 prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: 07:43 for the time is at hand. 07:46 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, 07:51 and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to 07:56 come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne; 07:59 and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, 08:02 and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the 08:05 kings of the earth. 08:06 Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins 08:11 in his own blood, and hath made us kings and priests unto God 08:16 and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. 08:21 Amen. 08:22 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, 08:27 and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth 08:31 shall wail because of him. 08:33 Even so, Amen. 08:35 I am the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, 08:40 saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, 08:45 the Almighty. 08:46 I John, who also am your brother, and companion in 08:51 tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, 08:55 was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, 08:59 and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. 09:01 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me 09:06 a great voice, as of a trumpet, saving, I am Alpha and Omega, 09:11 the first and the last: and, What thou seest, 09:17 write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which 09:20 are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, 09:25 and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, 09:30 and unto Laodicea. 09:31 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. 09:34 And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks; 09:38 and in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the 09:43 Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, 09:46 and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. 09:49 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as 09:54 snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; and his feet like 09:59 unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; 10:03 and his voice as the sound of many waters. 10:07 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his 10:11 mouth went a sharp two-edged sword: and his countenance was 10:16 as the sun shineth in his strength. 10:19 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. 10:23 And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, 10:27 Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, 10:34 and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; 10:38 and have the keys of hell and of death. 10:41 Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, 10:44 and the things which shall be hereafter; the mystery of the 10:47 seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven 10:51 golden candlesticks. 10:52 The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: 10:56 and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the 10:59 seven churches. 11:00 We're continuing with Revelation, chapter 2. 11:04 Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things 11:09 saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, 11:12 who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks; 11:16 I know thy works, and thy labor, and thy patience, and how thou 11:21 canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them 11:26 which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them 11:28 liars: and hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's 11:33 sake hast labored, and hast not fainted. 11:36 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast 11:42 left thy first love. 11:44 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, 11:49 and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, 11:53 and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, 11:56 except thou repent. 11:58 But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the 12:02 Nicolaitans, which I also hate. 12:05 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto 12:09 the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of 12:13 the tree of life, which is in the midst of the 12:15 paradise of God. 12:16 And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things 12:21 saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive; 12:25 I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, 12:29 and I know the blasphemy of them which say 12:33 they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan. 12:37 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, 12:41 the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be 12:45 tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou 12:50 faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. 12:54 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto 12:58 the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the 13:02 second death. 13:03 And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things 13:08 saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges; 13:11 I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's 13:16 seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my 13:21 faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful 13:25 martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth. 13:29 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there 13:33 them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to cast 13:38 a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat 13:41 things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication. 13:45 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of Nicolaitans, 13:50 which thing I hate. 13:52 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight 13:56 against them with the sword of my mouth. 13:58 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto 14:02 the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat 14:06 of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in 14:11 the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he 14:16 that receiveth it. 14:17 Thank you for joining with me today to read the word of God. 14:21 And next time when we're together we'll continue to read 14:24 the messages that God has written to the churches;
