00:16 Hi, and welcome to His Words Are Life.
00:19 I'm Kelly Mowrer and I'm glad you came apart with me to read
00:22 the Word of God. Before we start let's pray together.
00:25 Dear Jesus, thank you so much for your love for us.
00:29 And we can never thank you enough for it.
00:31 As we read these words that you have given to us, may they
00:36 fulfill the purpose that you have for them in each of the
00:40 lives of those of us reading and listening right now.
00:43 You have something for us to do for you. Please open our hearts
00:47 and show us what it is. Open our minds and let us understand
00:51 a deeper wisdom than we had before
00:55 from these precious words of life.
00:57 Thank You so much and we love You. Amen.
00:59 I am reading today from the King James version
01:03 in II Corinthians chapter 13 starting with verse 9.
01:07 For we are glad, when we are weak, and ye are strong:
01:12 And this also we wish, even your perfection.
01:16 Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present
01:22 I should use sharpness, according to the power
01:25 which the Lord hath given me to edification,
01:28 and not to destruction. Finally brethren, farewell.
01:32 Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace;
01:39 And the God of love and peace shall be with you.
01:42 Greet one another with a holy kiss.
01:44 All the saints salute you. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ,
01:48 and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost,
01:51 be with you all. Amen.
01:54 Turning over now to Paul's letter to Galatia.
01:59 We are going to begin in Galatians, chapter one
02:02 and we are reading from the King James Version.
02:04 Paul, an apostle, - not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus
02:10 Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead; -
02:13 And all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches
02:16 of Galatia: Grace be to you and peace from God the Father,
02:21 and from our Lord Jesus Christ, Who gave himself for our sins,
02:25 that He might deliver us from this present evil world,
02:28 according to the will of God and our Father:
02:31 To whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
02:35 I marvel that you are so soon removed from Him that called you
02:40 into the grace of Christ unto another gospel.
02:43 which is not another, but there be some that trouble you
02:48 and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
02:50 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel
02:55 unto you than that which we have preached unto you,
02:58 let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again,
03:03 If any man preach any other gospel unto you
03:05 than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
03:09 For do I now persuade men or God?
03:13 Or do I think to please men?
03:15 For if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant
03:18 of Christ. But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which
03:23 was preached of me was not after man, for I neither received it
03:28 of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation
03:31 of Jesus Christ. For ye have heard of my conversation
03:35 in time past in the Jews' religion how that beyond measure
03:40 I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:
03:43 And profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals
03:47 in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the
03:51 traditions of my fathers. But when it pleased God
03:55 who separated me from my mother's womb and called me
03:58 by his grace, to reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him
04:04 among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and
04:08 blood, neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were
04:11 apostles before me; but I went unto Arabia, and returned again
04:15 unto Damascus. Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem
04:20 to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days.
04:22 But other of the apostles saw I none, save James,
04:26 the Lord's brother. Now the things which I write unto you
04:30 behold, before God, I lie not. Afterwards I came unto the
04:36 regions of Syria and Cilicia; and was unknown by face unto the
04:40 churches of Judea which were in Christ: But they had heard only,
04:44 that he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth
04:48 the faith which once he destroyed.
04:50 And they glorified God in me. Continuing to read Galatians
04:55 Chapter two: Then 14 years after went up again to Jerusalem
05:00 with Barnabas and took Titus with me also.
05:03 And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that
05:07 gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them
05:12 which were of reputation, lest by any means I should run,
05:15 or had run in vain. But neither Titus, who was with me,
05:20 being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised:
05:23 And that because of false brethren unawares brought in,
05:28 who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have
05:31 in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:
05:34 To whom we gave place by subjection, no not for an hour;
05:39 that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.
05:42 But of these who seemed to be somewhat, - whatsoever they were
05:47 it maketh no matter to me: God accepteth no man's person: -
05:51 for they who seemed to be somewhat in conference
05:54 added nothing to me: But contrariwise, when they saw that
05:58 the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me,
06:01 as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter;
06:04 For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of
06:09 the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles
06:13 And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars,
06:18 perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me
06:22 and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go
06:26 unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.
06:29 Only they would that we should remember the poor;
06:32 the same which I also was forward to do.
06:35 But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him
06:39 to the face, because he was to be blamed.
06:41 For before that certain came from James, he did eat with
06:45 the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated
06:48 himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision.
06:52 And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that
06:56 Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation.
06:59 But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the
07:03 truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all,
07:06 If thou being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles,
07:10 and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles
07:15 to live as do the Jews? We who are Jews by nature,
07:20 and not sinners of the Gentiles, knowing that a man is not
07:23 justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of
07:26 Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ,
07:30 that we might be justified by the faith of Christ,
07:33 and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law
07:37 shall no flesh be justified. But if while we seek
07:42 to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners
07:46 is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.
07:51 For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself
07:55 a transgressor. For I, through the law, am dead to the law.
08:00 that I might live unto God. I am crucified with Christ:
08:05 Nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me:
08:10 and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith
08:14 of the son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
08:18 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness
08:22 come by the law, then Christ is is dead in vain.
08:27 Continuing to read Paul's letter to Galatia, this is
08:30 Galatians chapter three, the King James version
08:33 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you,
08:37 that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes
08:40 Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
08:44 This only would I learn of you, received ye the Spirit by the
08:48 works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
08:50 Are you so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now
08:55 made perfect by the flesh? Have ye suffered so many things
08:59 in vain? if it be yet in vain. He therefore that ministereth
09:05 to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it
09:09 by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
09:13 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him
09:17 for righteousness, know ye therefore that they which are of
09:21 faith the same are the children of Abraham.
09:24 and the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify
09:27 the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto
09:31 Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
09:35 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful
09:40 Abraham. For as many as are of the works of the law
09:43 are under the curse. For it is written, Cursed is every one
09:47 that continueth not in all things which are written in the
09:50 book of the law to do them. But that no man is justified
09:55 by the law in the sight of God, it is evident:
09:58 for the just shall live by faith.
10:01 And the law is not of faith:
10:04 But the man that doeth them shall live in them.
10:08 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made
10:12 a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one
10:16 that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come
10:21 on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive
10:25 the promise of the Spirit through faith.
10:27 Brethren, I speak after the manner of men;
10:32 Though it be by a man's covenant yet if it be confirmed,
10:36 no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.
10:41 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made.
10:45 He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but of one,
10:49 And to thy seed, which is Christ And this I say that the covenant
10:54 that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which
10:59 was 430 years after, cannot disannul, that it should make
11:04 the promise of none effect. For if the inheritance be of the law
11:08 it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by
11:12 promise. Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of
11:19 transgression, till the seed should come to whom the promise
11:22 was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand
11:26 of a mediator. Now a mediator is not a mediator of one,
11:30 But God is one. Is the law then against the promises of God?
11:36 God forbid: for if there had been a law given
11:41 which could have given life, verily righteousness should
11:45 have been by the law. But the scripture hath concluded all
11:49 under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be
11:55 given to them that believe. But before faith came, we were kept
12:00 under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards
12:04 be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us
12:09 unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
12:12 But after that faith is come, we are no longer
12:16 under a schoolmaster. For ye are all the children of God
12:20 by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been
12:25 baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew
12:30 nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free,
12:32 there is neither male or female: for ye are all one in Christ
12:36 Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed,
12:41 and heirs according to the promise.
12:43 Continuing to read in Galatians, chapter four.
12:47 Now I say, that the heir, as long as he is a child,
12:52 differeth nothing from a servant though he be lord of all;
12:56 but is under tutors and governors until the time
12:59 appointed of the father. Even so we, when we were children,
13:04 were in bondage under the elements of the world.
13:08 But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth
13:11 his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, to redeem them
13:17 that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption
13:20 of sons. And because ye are sons God hath sent forth the Spirit
13:25 of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
13:30 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son;
13:34 and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
13:38 Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them
13:43 which by nature are no gods. But now, after that ye have
13:48 known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the
13:53 weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again
13:57 to be in bondage? Ye observe days, and months, and times
14:01 and years. I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you
14:04 labour in vain. Brethren, I beseech you, be as I am;
14:10 for I am as ye are: ye have not injured me at all.
14:15 Ye know how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel
14:19 unto you at the first. And my temptation which was in my flesh
14:23 ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel
14:28 of God, even as Christ Jesus.
14:31 Thank you for joining with me today. Please join with me again
