00:15 Hello and welcome to His Words are Life
00:18 I'm Kelly Mowrer and thank you for coming apart with me today 00:21 to read the beautiful word of God. Before we start 00:24 Let's pray together. Dear Jesus, thank you for putting in us 00:30 the desire to know you more. And the good work that 00:34 You've begun in each of our lives to your glory, 00:37 please finish that work. Please don't let us go. 00:41 But keep us drawing ever closer to You and walking more and more 00:46 like You every day. Thank You for loving us. 00:49 We love you so much. Amen. 00:51 Reading today from the King James version and this is 00:54 First Corinthians - we're almost finished with this Epistle. 00:57 This is the sign off of Paul, and we're reading from 01:00 the King James version. This is chapter 16 starting with v. 19. 01:04 The churches of Asia salute you. Aquilla and Pricilla 01:08 salute you much in the Lord, with the church 01:11 that is in their house. All the brethren greet you 01:13 Greet ye one another with a holy kiss. 01:16 The salutation of me, Paul, with mine own hand. 01:19 If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, 01:23 Let him be Anathema Maranatha. The grace of our Lord 01:28 Jesus Christ be with you. My love be with you all 01:31 in Christ Jesus. Amen. 01:34 Now we're moving on to the second letter to the Corinthians 01:37 chapter one. this is the King James version. 01:40 Paul, and apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, 01:45 and Timothy our brother, unto the church of God which is 01:49 at Corinth, with all the saints which are in all Achaia. 01:53 Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, 01:56 and from the Lord Jesus Christ. 01:58 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 02:02 the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; 02:05 who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able 02:10 to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort 02:13 wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. 02:16 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation 02:21 also aboundeth by Christ. And whether we be afflicted, it is 02:26 for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual 02:29 in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: 02:33 or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation 02:37 and salvation. And our hope of you is steadfast, knowing that 02:42 as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also 02:46 of the consolation. For we would not brethren, have you ignorant 02:52 of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed 02:55 out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even 02:59 of life: But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, 03:03 that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God 03:06 which raiseth the dead: Who delivered us from so great a 03:11 death and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet 03:15 deliver us; Ye also helping together by prayer for us, 03:19 that for the gift bestowed upon us by the means of many persons 03:24 thanks may be given by many on our behalf. For our rejoicing is 03:29 this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity 03:33 and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace 03:38 of God, we have had our conversation in the world, 03:41 and more abundantly to you-ward. For we write none 03:45 other things unto you, than what ye read or acknowledge; 03:47 and I trust ye shall acknowledge even to the end. 03:52 As also ye have acknowledged us in part, that we are your 03:56 rejoicing, even as ye also are ours in the day 03:59 of the Lord Jesus Christ. And in this confidence, I was minded 04:04 to come unto you before, that ye might have a second benefit; 04:08 And to pass by you into Macedonia, and to come again 04:12 out of Macedonia unto you, and of you to be brought on my way 04:16 toward Judea. When I therefore was thus minded, 04:20 did I use lightness? or the things that I purpose, 04:24 do I purpose according to the flesh, that with me there should 04:28 be yea yea, and nay nay? But as God is true, our word toward 04:34 you is not yea and nay. For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, 04:38 who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus 04:43 and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea. 04:48 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, 04:55 unto the gory of God by us. Now he which stablisheth us 05:01 with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; 05:04 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit 05:08 in our hearts.. Moreover I call God for a record upon my soul, 05:13 that to spare you I came not as yet unto Corinth. 05:16 But for that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers 05:20 of your joy: for by faith ye stand. 05:23 We are reading Paul's letter, 2 Corinthians chapter two. 05:29 But I determined this with myself, that I would not come 05:33 again unto you with heaviness. But if I make you sorry, 05:36 who is he then that maketh me glad, but the same which is made 05:40 sorry by me? And I wrote this same unto you, lest, when I came 05:44 I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; 05:47 having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy 05:51 of you all. For out of much affliction and anguish of heart 05:56 I wrote unto you with many tears; not that ye should be 06:00 grieved, but that ye might know the love which I have more 06:04 abundantly unto you. But if any have caused grief, 06:07 he hath not grieved me, but in part: that I may not overcharge 06:12 you all. Sufficient to such a man is this punishment, 06:16 which was inflicted of many. So that contrariwise ye ought 06:20 rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such 06:24 a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow. 06:26 Wherefore I beseech you that ye would confirm your love toward 06:31 him. For to this end also did I write, that I might know 06:35 the proof of you, whether ye be obedient in all things. 06:38 To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgive 06:43 any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it 06:46 in the person of Christ; lest Satan should get an advantage 06:50 of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. 06:53 Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach 06:56 Christ's gospel, and a door was 06:57 opened unto me of the Lord, I had no rest in my spirit, 07:01 because I found not Titus, my brother: but taking my leave of 07:05 them, I went from thence unto Macedonia. 07:07 Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph 07:12 in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge 07:16 by us in every place. For we are unto God a sweet savour of 07:21 Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish: 07:25 To the one we are the savour of death unto death; 07:29 and unto the other the savour of life unto life. 07:32 And who is sufficient for these things? 07:34 For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: 07:38 but as of sincerity, but as of God, 07:42 in the sight of God speak we in Christ. 07:45 We are reading from the book of 2 Corinthians, 07:48 the King James version. We are starting now with chapter three. 07:52 Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, 07:56 as some others, epistles of commendation to you, 07:59 or letters of commendation from you? Ye are our epistle written 08:04 in our hearts, known and read of all men: 08:07 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle 08:11 of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, 08:14 but with the Spirit of the living God; 08:16 not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart. 08:21 And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward: 08:25 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as 08:29 of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; 08:33 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; 08:37 not of the letter, but of the Spirit: for the letter killeth, 08:41 but the spirit giveth life. But if the ministration of death, 08:46 written and engraven in stones, was glorious, 08:50 so that the children of Israel could not steadfastly behold the 08:53 face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; 08:55 which glory was to be done away. How shall not the ministration 09:00 of the spirit be rather glorious? 09:03 For if the ministration of condemnation be glory 09:06 much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory 09:11 For even that which was made glorious had no glory 09:16 in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth. 09:19 For if that which is done away was glorious, 09:22 much more that which remaineth is glorious. 09:26 seeing then that we have such hope, we use treat plainness 09:32 of speech: and not as Moses, which put a veil over his face, 09:36 that the children of Israel could not steadfastly look 09:39 to the end of that which is abolished: 09:42 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth 09:45 the same veil untaken away in the reading of the old testament 09:50 which veil is done away in Christ. 09:53 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, 09:56 the veil is upon their heart. Nevertheless when it shall 10:01 turn to the Lord, the veil shall be taken away. 10:04 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord 10:09 is, there is liberty. But we all, with open face 10:14 beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, 10:18 are changed into the same image from glory to glory, 10:23 even as by the Spirit of the Lord. 10:26 Reading 2 Corinthians, chapter four. 10:29 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, 10:33 as we have received mercy, we faint not; 10:37 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, 10:40 not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God 10:44 deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth 10:48 commending ourselves to every man's conscience 10:50 in the sight of God. But if our gospel be hid, 10:54 it is hid to them that are lost: 10:56 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them 10:59 which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel 11:02 of Christ who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 11:06 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; 11:11 and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. 11:14 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, 11:18 hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge 11:22 of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 11:25 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, 11:28 that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. 11:33 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed. 11:37 We are perplexed, but not in despair; 11:41 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; 11:48 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, 11:52 that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest 11:56 in our body. For we which live are always delivered unto death 12:01 for Jesus sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made 12:05 manifest in our mortal flesh. So then death worketh in us, 12:09 but life in you. We having the same spirit of faith, 12:14 according as it is written, I believed, 12:17 and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, 12:20 and therefore speak; knowing that he which raised up the Lord 12:25 Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, 12:28 and shall present us with you. 12:30 For all things are for you sakes, that the abundant grace 12:34 might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory 12:38 of God. For which cause we faint not; 12:42 but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is 12:47 renewed day by day. For our light affliction, 12:51 which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more 12:55 exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 12:58 while we look not at the things which are seen, 13:01 but at the things which are not seen: 13:03 for the things which are seen are temporal; 13:06 but the things which are not seen are eternal. 13:09 Picking up again now with chapter 5 of 2 Corinthians. 13:14 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle 13:19 were dissolved, we have a building of God, 13:21 an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 13:25 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon 13:30 with our house which is from heaven: 13:32 If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked. 13:36 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, 13:39 being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, 13:44 but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up 13:46 of life. Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame 13:51 thing is God, who also hath given unto us 13:54 the earnest of the Spirit. 13:56 Therefore we are always confident, 13:58 knowing that whilst we are at home in the body, 14:01 we are absent from the Lord: For we walk by faith, 14:04 not by sight: We are confident, I say, and willing 14:09 rather to be absent from the body, and to be present 14:12 with the Lord. Wherefore we labor, that, whether present 14:16 or absent, we may be accepted of him. For we must all appear 14:21 before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one 14:24 may receive the things done in his body, 14:27 according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. 14:31 Thank you for being with us today. |
