00:16 Hello, and welcome to His Words Are Life.
00:18 I'm Kelly Mowrer and I'll be reading today from the
00:21 King James Version, but first let's pray.
00:23 Dear Jesus, like David wrote, we come to You when our
00:29 sprit is cast down and discouraged.
00:31 In Your word we are strengthened,
00:34 and we are lifted up again.
00:35 Right now I know there are some watching and listening who have
00:39 put burdens before You and may be waiting for Your answer,
00:43 and are wondering if their prayers are even heard.
00:46 But as we read today the stories that You told to encourage us to
00:51 pray without ceasing, and not to stop asking,
00:54 may these people be encouraged, and may they know their prayers
00:59 are reaching You and are being heard.
01:00 and at the exact right time You will supply the answers.
01:03 And may we also be encouraged and strengthened as we read
01:07 Your word together.
01:08 Thank You so much.
01:09 We love You.
01:10 Amen.
01:11 I'm reading today from the King James Version the gospel of
01:14 Luke, chapter 17, beginning with verse 1.
01:17 Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that
01:22 offenses will come: but woe unto him,
01:25 through whom they come!
01:26 It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his
01:30 neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend
01:33 one of these little ones.
01:35 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee,
01:39 rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.
01:43 And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven
01:47 times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent;
01:51 thou shalt forgive him.
01:52 And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.
01:57 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard
02:01 seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked
02:05 up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea;
02:08 and it should obey you.
02:09 But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding
02:12 cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the
02:16 field, Go and sit down to meat?
02:18 And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may
02:23 sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and
02:26 drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?
02:29 Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that
02:33 were commanded him?
02:34 I trow not.
02:35 So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which
02:40 are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have
02:45 done that which was our duty to do.
02:47 And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed
02:51 through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.
02:54 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men
02:58 that were lepers, which stood afar off: and they lifted up
03:02 their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.
03:05 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go show yourselves
03:10 unto the priests.
03:11 And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.
03:15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back,
03:20 and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face
03:24 at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.
03:27 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed?
03:32 but where are the nine?
03:34 There are not found that returned to give glory to God,
03:37 save this stranger.
03:39 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way:
03:43 thy faith hath made thee whole.
03:45 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of
03:48 God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of
03:51 God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here!
03:56 or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
04:00 And he said unto the disciples, The days will come,
04:03 when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man,
04:05 and ye shall not see it.
04:07 And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there:
04:10 go not after them, nor follow them.
04:13 For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part
04:17 under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven;
04:20 so shall also the Son of man be in his day.
04:24 But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected
04:28 of this generation.
04:29 And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the
04:34 days of the Son of man.
04:35 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given
04:40 in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark,
04:43 and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
04:46 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat,
04:49 they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted,
04:52 they builded; but the same day that Lot went out of Sodom
04:56 it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed
04:59 them all.
05:00 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.
05:04 In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff
05:09 in the house, let him not come down to take it away:
05:11 and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.
05:15 Remember Lot's wife.
05:17 Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it;
05:20 and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.
05:23 I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed;
05:28 the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.
05:30 Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be
05:34 taken, and the other left.
05:36 Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken,
05:40 and the other left.
05:41 And they answered and said unto him, Where Lord?
05:45 And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is,
05:49 thither will the eagles be gathered together.
05:53 I'm reading from the gospel of Luke, chapter 18.
05:56 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought
06:03 always to pray, and not to faint; saying, There was in a
06:08 city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:
06:12 and there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him,
06:15 saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.
06:18 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within
06:22 himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; yet because this
06:28 widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her
06:31 continual coming she weary me.
06:33 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.
06:38 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night
06:43 unto him, though he bear long with them?
06:46 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily.
06:49 Nevertheless, when the Son of man cometh,
06:52 shall he find faith on the earth?
06:54 And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in
06:59 themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:
07:03 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee,
07:08 and the other a publican.
07:09 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God,
07:14 I think thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners,
07:18 unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
07:22 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
07:27 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much
07:33 as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying,
07:37 God be merciful to me a sinner.
07:39 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather
07:45 than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be
07:49 abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
07:53 And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch
07:57 them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
08:00 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children
08:04 to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the
08:08 kingdom of God.
08:09 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of
08:13 God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.
08:17 And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master,
08:21 what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
08:23 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is
08:29 good, save one, that is, God.
08:30 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery,
08:34 Do not kill, Do not steal,
08:36 Do not bear false witness, Honor thy father and thy mother.
08:39 And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.
08:44 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him,
08:47 Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast,
08:52 and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in
08:55 heaven: and come, follow me.
08:57 And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful:
09:00 for he was very rich.
09:01 And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said,
09:05 How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the
09:10 kingdom of God!
09:11 For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye,
09:14 than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
09:17 And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved?
09:22 And he said, The things which are impossible with men
09:25 are possible with God.
09:26 Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee.
09:32 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man
09:36 that hath left house, or parents, or brethren,
09:39 or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,
09:43 who shall not receive manifold more in this present time,
09:47 and in the world to come life everlasting.
09:50 Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them,
09:54 Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written
09:58 by the prophets concerning the Son of man
10:00 shall be accomplished.
10:02 For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be
10:05 mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on:
10:08 and they shall scourge him, and put him to death;
10:11 and the third day he shall rise again.
10:13 And they understood none of these things: and this saying
10:17 was hid from them, neither knew they the things which
10:20 were spoken.
10:21 And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho,
10:25 a certain blind man sat by the way side begging: and hearing
10:29 the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant.
10:32 And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by.
10:35 And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David,
10:38 have mercy on me.
10:40 And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold
10:43 his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou Son of David,
10:48 have mercy on me.
10:49 And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him:
10:53 and when he was come near, he asked him, saying, What wilt
10:57 thou that I shall do unto thee?
10:59 And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight.
11:02 And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight:
11:05 thy faith hath saved thee.
11:07 And immediately he received his sight, and followed him,
11:11 glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it,
11:14 gave praise unto God.
11:17 Reading from the gospel of Luke, chapter 19.
11:20 And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho.
11:24 And, behold, there was a man named Zaccheus, which was the
11:27 chief among the publicans, and he was rich.
11:30 And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the
11:34 press, because he was little of stature.
11:36 And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycamore tree
11:40 to see him; for he was to pass that way.
11:42 And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up,
11:46 and saw him, and said unto him, Zaccheus, make haste,
11:49 and come down; for today I must abide at thy house.
11:52 And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.
11:56 And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was
12:00 gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.
12:03 And Zaccheus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord,
12:07 the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken
12:11 any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore
12:15 him fourfold.
12:16 And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this
12:22 house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.
12:26 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that
12:30 which was lost.
12:31 And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable,
12:36 because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they
12:38 thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.
12:41 He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country
12:45 to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.
12:48 And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds,
12:52 and said unto them, Occupy till I come.
12:54 But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him,
12:58 saying We will not have this man to reign over us.
13:01 And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received
13:04 the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto
13:08 him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how
13:11 much every man had gained by trading.
13:13 Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained
13:16 ten pounds.
13:17 And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou
13:22 hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority
13:25 over ten cities.
13:26 And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained
13:30 five pounds.
13:31 And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities.
13:35 And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound,
13:38 which I have kept laid up in a napkin: for I feared thee,
13:42 because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst
13:46 not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow.
13:49 And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I
13:52 judge thee, thou wicked servant.
13:54 Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I
13:57 laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow: wherefore then
14:01 gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I
14:04 might have required mine own with usury?
14:06 And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound,
14:09 and give it to him that hath ten pounds.
14:11 And they said unto Him, Lord he hath ten pounds.
14:14 For I say unto you, that unto every one which hath shall be
14:18 given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be
14:22 taken away from him.
14:23 But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign
14:26 over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.
14:30 And when he had thus spoken, he went before,
14:32 ascending up to Jerusalem.
14:34 Goodbye.
