00:17 Hello, and thank you for joining me today,
00:20 for His Words are Life. I'm Kelly Mowrer,
00:23 and before we go to the word of God, let's go to
00:26 the Author of the word in prayer.
00:27 Oh, my heavenly Father, thank you so very much that you have
00:33 not only given these words to us today, you have brought us
00:37 safely here that we may enjoy them together and be fed by
00:41 them and blessed by them, and please send your Holy Spirit
00:44 to guide us as we read them. Open our hearts and our minds
00:47 and may these words bear fruit to your honor and glory.
00:50 We thank you and we love you. Amen
00:53 I am reading from the book of Mark, chapter seven,
00:56 beginning with verse 24 and this is the King James version.
01:00 And from thence he arose, and went into the borders
01:04 of Tyre and Sidon, and entered into an house,
01:07 and would have no man know it: but he could not be hid.
01:10 For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit,
01:14 heard of him, and came and fell at his feet:
01:17 The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation;
01:21 and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil
01:24 out of her daughter. But Jesus said unto her, Let the children
01:29 first be filled, for it is not meet to take the children's
01:33 bread and to cast it unto the dogs. And she answered
01:37 and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table
01:41 eat of the children's crumbs. And he said unto her,
01:46 For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out
01:50 of thy daughter. And when she was come to her house, she found
01:54 the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed.
01:58 And again, departing from the coasts of Tyre and Sidon, he
02:02 came unto the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the coasts
02:05 of Decapolis. And they brought unto him one that was deaf,
02:09 and had an impediment in his speech; and they beseech him
02:12 to put his hand upon him. And he took him aside
02:15 from the multitude and put his fingers into his ears,
02:17 and he spit, and touched his tongue; and looking up to heaven
02:21 he sighed, and saith unto him, Ephphatha, that is, Be opened.
02:26 and straightway his ears were opened, and the string of his
02:31 tongue was loosed and he spake plain. And he charged them that
02:35 they should tell no man: but the more he charged them,
02:39 so much the more a great deal they published it:
02:42 and were beyond measure astonished, saying,
02:45 He hath done all things well: he maketh both the deaf to hear,
02:50 and the dumb to speak. - I'm reading from the book of Mark,
02:54 Chapter 8. - In those days the multitude being very great,
02:59 and having nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples unto him,
03:03 and saith unto them, I have compassion on the multitude
03:06 because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing
03:10 to eat: and if I send them away fasting to their own houses,
03:14 they will faint by the way: for divers of them came from far.
03:18 And his disciples answered him, >From whence can a man satisfy
03:22 these men with bread here in the wilderness?
03:24 And he asked them, How many loaves have ye?
03:28 And they said, Seven. And he commanded the people to sit down
03:32 on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks,
03:36 and brake, and gave to his disciples to set before them;
03:39 and they did set them before the people. And they had a few small
03:44 fishes: and he blessed, and commanded to set them also
03:47 before them. So they did eat, and were filled: and they took
03:53 up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets.
03:56 And they that had eaten were about 4,000; and he sent them
04:00 away. And straightway he entered into a ship with his disciples,
04:04 and came into the parts of Dalmanutha.
04:07 And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him.
04:10 seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him.
04:14 And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith,
04:17 Why doth this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto
04:23 you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.
04:26 And he left them, and entering into the ship again departed
04:31 to the other side. Now the disciples had forgotten to
04:35 take bread, neither had they in the ship with them more than
04:38 one loaf. And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of
04:44 the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.
04:47 And they reasoned among themselves, saying,
04:50 It is because we have no bread. And when Jesus knew it, he
04:54 saith unto them, Why reason ye because ye have no bread?
04:58 perceive ye not yet, neither understand? have ye your
05:03 heart yet hardened? Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears,
05:08 hear ye not? and do ye not remember? When I brake
05:12 the five loaves among 5,000, how many baskets full of
05:16 fragments took ye up? They say unto him, Twelve.
05:20 And when the seven among 4,000, how many baskets full
05:25 of fragments took ye up? And they said, Seven.
05:29 And he said unto them, How is it that ye do not understand?
05:34 And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him
05:39 and besought him to touch him. And he took the blind man
05:42 by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit
05:45 on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw
05:48 aught. And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees,
05:52 walking. After that he put his hands again upon his eyes,
05:57 and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every
06:01 man clearly. And he sent him away to his house, saying,
06:06 Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town.
06:10 And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of
06:14 Caesarea Phillippi: and by the way he asked his disciples,
06:19 saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am?
06:22 And they answered, John the Baptist: but some say, Elias;
06:26 and others, One of the prophets. And he saith unto them,
06:31 But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto
06:36 him, Thou art the Christ. And he charged them that they should
06:41 tell no man of him. And he began to teach them,
06:44 that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of
06:49 the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes,
06:51 and be killed, and after 3 days rise again. And he spake that
06:56 saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him.
07:00 But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples,
07:04 he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan:
07:08 for thou savourest not the things that be of God,
07:12 but the things that be of men. And when he had called the
07:16 people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto
07:19 them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself,
07:24 and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever
07:28 will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall
07:31 lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall
07:35 save it. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall
07:39 gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
07:42 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul.
07:45 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words
07:50 in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall
07:55 the son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory
07:58 of his Father with the holy angels. - Mark chapter 9. -
08:03 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be
08:09 some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death,
08:12 till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.
08:16 And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and
08:21 John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart
08:25 by themselves: and he was transfigured before them.
08:29 and his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as
08:34 no fuller on earth can white them. And there appeared
08:38 unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus
08:42 and Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us
08:47 to be here: and let us make 3 tabernacles; one for thee,
08:50 and one for Moses, and one for Elias. For he wist not what to
08:55 say; for they were sore afraid. And there was a cloud that
09:00 overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying,
09:03 This is my beloved Son: hear him. And suddenly
09:08 when they had looked round about, they saw no man any more,
09:11 save Jesus only with themselves. And as they came down from the
09:16 mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man
09:19 what things they had seen, till the son of man were risen
09:23 from the dead. And they kept that saying with themselves,
09:26 questioning one with another what the rising from the dead
09:30 should mean. And they asked him, saying, Why say the scribes
09:34 that Elias must first come? And he answered and told them,
09:38 Elias verily cometh first, and restoreth all things:
09:42 and how it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer
09:46 many things, and be set at nought. But I say unto you,
09:50 That Elias is indeed come, and they have done unto him
09:53 whatsoever they listed, as it is written of him.
09:56 And when he came to his disciples, he saw a great
09:59 multitude about them, and the scribes questioning with them.
10:02 And straightway all the people, when they beheld him,
10:05 were greatly amazed, and running to him saluted him.
10:09 And he asked the scribes, What question ye with them?
10:13 And one of the multitude answered and said,
10:16 Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit
10:20 and wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth,
10:23 and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away:
10:26 and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out;
10:29 and they could not. He answereth him, and saith,
10:33 O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you?
10:37 how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me.
10:41 And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him,
10:45 straightway the spirit tare him and he fell on the ground,
10:48 and wallowed foaming. And he asked his father,
10:51 How long is it ago since this came upon him?
10:54 And he said, Of a child. And ofttimes it hath cast him into
11:00 the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him:
11:02 but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us,
11:06 and help us. Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe,
11:11 all things are possible to him that believeth.
11:15 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said
11:20 with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
11:25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together,
11:29 he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him,
11:32 Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him
11:36 and enter no more into him. And the spirit cried, and rent him
11:41 sore and came out of him: and he was as one dead;
11:45 insomuch that many said, He is dead. But Jesus took him
11:50 by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.
11:52 And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him
11:55 privately, Why could not we cast him out? And he said unto
12:00 them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and
12:04 fasting. And they departed thence, and passed through
12:08 Galilee; and he would not that any man should know it.
12:11 For he taught his disciples, and said unto them,
12:13 The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall
12:17 kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the 3rd
12:22 day. But they understood not that saying, and were afraid
12:26 to ask him. And he came to Capernaum:
12:29 and being in the house he asked them, What was it
12:32 that ye disputed among yourselves by the way?
12:35 But they held their peace: for by the way they had disputed
12:39 among themselves, who should be the greatest. And he sat down
12:44 and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to
12:49 be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.
12:53 And he took a child, and set him in the midst of them: and when
12:57 he had taken him in his arms, he said unto them.
13:00 Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name,
13:04 receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not
13:09 me, but him that sent me. And John answered him, saying,
13:13 Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name,
13:16 and he followed not us: and we forbad him, because he followed
13:20 not us. But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man
13:26 which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak
13:29 evil of me. For he that is not against us is on our part.
13:33 For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name
13:37 because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you,
13:41 he shall not lose his reward. And whosoever shall offend
13:45 one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better
13:48 for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck,
13:51 and he were cast into the sea. And if thy hand offend thee,
13:55 cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life
13:59 maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire
14:03 that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not,
14:05 and the fire is not quenched. And if thy foot offend thee,
14:08 cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life,
14:12 than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that
14:16 never shall be quenched: where their worm dieth not,
14:18 and the fire is not quenched: And if thine eye offend thee,
14:21 pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom
14:24 of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell
14:28 fire: where their worm dieth not, and the fire is
14:31 not quenched. - Thank you for joining me today.
