00:16 Hi, I'm Kelly Mowrer and welcome to HIS WORDS ARE LIFE.
00:20 I'll be reading today from the King James Version and part of 00:23 what we'll read is the parable of the sower. And maybe 00:26 if those are watching right now who feel like their lives are 00:30 just sort of dried up ground and there's not really any kind of 00:34 a harvest being prepared there and no abundance whatever, 00:37 But you long for that and by the power of his word 00:40 the Lord of the harvest can plant the seed of hope, 00:42 joy and peace. And he can do that for us right now. 00:46 But before we go to the Word. let's go to him in prayer. 00:50 Oh, my Father, thank you so much that you both begin the work, 00:55 and complete it in us. And that we can come to you and ask that 01:00 the dry barrenness of our hearts be made into a fresh garden, 01:04 that brings forth fruit to your honor and glory. May the words 01:08 that we read today bear fruit in our lives. We love you and 01:12 we pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen. 01:15 I'll be reading today from the King James Version, 01:18 the book of Matthew, chapter 12 and beginning in verse 31. 01:23 Wherefore I say unto you, all manner of sin and blasphemy 01:29 shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against 01:32 the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. 01:35 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, 01:39 it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against 01:43 the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this 01:47 world, neither in the world to come. Either make the tree good, 01:52 and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit 01:56 corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit. 02:01 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good 02:05 things? for out of the abundance of the heart 02:08 the mouth speaketh. A good man out of the good treasure 02:12 of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man 02:17 out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. 02:20 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, 02:25 they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment, For by 02:29 thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words 02:32 thou shalt be condemned. Then certain of the scribes 02:37 and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see 02:41 a sign from thee. But he answered and said unto them, 02:44 An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after 02:48 a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign 02:52 of the prophet Jonas. For as Jonas was three days 02:55 and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man 02:59 be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. 03:03 The men Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation 03:07 and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching 03:11 of Jonas; and behold, a greater than Jonas is here. 03:15 The queen of the south, shall rise up in the judgment with 03:18 this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came 03:22 from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of 03:25 Solomon; and behold a greater than Solomon is here. 03:29 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through 03:33 dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. Then he saith, 03:38 I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when 03:43 he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. 03:47 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits 03:51 more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: 03:55 and the last state of that man is worse than the first. 04:00 Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation. 04:05 While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother 04:09 and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him. 04:13 Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren 04:18 stand without, desiring to speak with thee. But he answered 04:21 and said unto him, that told him Who is my mother? and who are my 04:26 brethren? And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, 04:30 and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! For whosoever 04:34 shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same 04:39 is my brother, and sister, and mother. 04:42 I'm reading in the book of Matthew, chapter 13. 04:45 The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea 04:50 side. And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, 04:55 so that he went into a ship and sat; and the whole multitude 04:58 stood on the shore. And he spake many things unto them 05:03 in parables, saying, Behold a sower went forth to sow; 05:08 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, 05:12 and the fowls came and devoured them up: some fell upon stony 05:18 places where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung 05:22 up, because they had no deepness of earth: and when the sun was 05:26 up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, 05:30 they withered away. And some fell among thorns; 05:34 and the thorns sprung up, and choked them: But other fell 05:38 into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold 05:41 some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold. Who hath ears to hear, let him 05:46 hear. And the disciples came, and said unto him, 05:49 Why speakest thou unto them in parables? He answered and said 05:53 unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries 05:57 of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. 06:00 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more 06:05 abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken 06:10 away even that he hath. Therefore speak I to them 06:14 in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear 06:21 not, neither do they understand. And in them is fulfilled the 06:25 prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, 06:29 and shall not understand. And seeing ye shall see, and shall 06:35 not perceive: For this people's heart is waxed gross, 06:39 and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes 06:42 they have closed; lest at any time they should see 06:46 with their eyes, and hear with their ears, 06:48 and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, 06:52 and I should heal them. But blessed are your eyes, 06:56 for they see: and your ears, for they hear. For verily I say unto 07:01 you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired 07:04 to see those things which ye see and have not seen them; 07:08 and to hear those things which ye hear and have not heard them. 07:12 Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower. When any one heareth 07:18 the word of the kingdom, and uuderstandeth it not, then 07:22 cometh the wicked one and catcheth away that which was 07:26 sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the 07:30 wayside. But he that received the seed into stony places, 07:35 the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy 07:39 receiveth it; yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth 07:43 for a while: for when tribulation or persecution 07:47 ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended. 07:51 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth 07:56 the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness 08:01 of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. But he 08:07 that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth 08:11 the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and 08:16 bringeth forth, some an hundred fold, some sixty, some thirty. 08:20 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, 08:24 The Kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed 08:29 in his field: But while men slept, his enemy came 08:33 and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. 08:37 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, 08:40 then appeared the tares also. So the servants 08:44 of the householder came and said unto him, Sir didst not thou sow 08:48 good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? 08:51 He said unto them, And enemy hath done this. The servants 08:56 said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? 08:59 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up 09:05 also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the 09:09 harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the 09:13 reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them 09:17 in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn. 09:21 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, 09:24 The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, 09:28 which a man took, and sowed in his field: 09:32 Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, 09:36 it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that 09:40 the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof. 09:44 Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven 09:49 is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three 09:54 measures of meal, till the whole was leavened. All these things 09:59 spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a 10:03 parable spake he not unto them: That it might be fulfilled which 10:08 was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth 10:12 in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret 10:15 from the foundation of the world. Then Jesus sent the 10:19 multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples 10:23 came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares 10:27 of the field. He answered and said unto them, 10:30 He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man. The field is the 10:36 world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but 10:40 the tares are the children of the wicked one; The enemy 10:43 that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of 10:48 the world; and the reapers are the angels. 10:50 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; 10:54 so shall it be in the end of this world. 10:56 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, 10:59 and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that 11:02 offend, and them which do iniquity; and shall cast them 11:06 into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing 11:09 of teeth. Then shall the righteous shine forth as the 11:13 sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears 11:17 to hear, let him hear. Again, the kingdom of heaven 11:21 is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man 11:26 hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth 11:31 all that he hath, and buyeth that field. Again, the kingdom 11:36 of heaven is like unto a merchant man, 11:38 seeking goodly pearls: Who when he had found one pearl 11:42 of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it. 11:46 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast 11:51 into the sea, and gathered of every kind: Which, when 11:56 it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered 11:59 the good into vessels, but cast the bad away. 12:03 So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come 12:08 forth and sever the wicked from among the just, and shall cast 12:12 them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing 12:15 and gnashing of teeth. Jesus saith unto them, 12:19 Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, 12:23 Yea, Lord. Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe 12:28 which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto 12:32 a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of 12:35 his treasure things new and old. And it came to pass, that when 12:41 Jesus had finished these parables, he departed thence. 12:44 And when he was come into his own country, he taught them 12:48 in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, 12:51 and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty 12:56 works? Is not this the carpenter's son? 12:59 Is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and 13:03 Joses, and Simon, and Judas? And his sisters, are they not 13:06 all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things? 13:10 And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, 13:15 A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in 13:20 his own house. And he did not many might works there 13:24 because of their unbelief. - I'm reading from the book of 13:30 Matthew, chapter 14. - At that time Herod the tetrarch 13:34 heard of the fame of Jesus, and said unto his servants, 13:37 This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead; 13:41 and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him. 13:45 For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him and put him in 13:49 prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife. For John 13:54 said unto him, It is not lawful for thee to have her. 13:56 And when he would have put him to death, he feared 13:59 the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet. 14:02 But when Herod's birthday was kept, the daughter of Herodias 14:06 danced before them, and pleased Herod. Whereupon he promised 14:10 with an oath to give her whatsoever she would ask. 14:13 And she, being before instructed of her mother, said, Give me 14:19 here John Baptist's head in a charger. And the king was sorry: 14:24 nevertheless for the oath's sake and them which sat with him at 14:27 meat, he commanded it to be given her. 14:30 Thank you again for joining me today. Goodbye and God bless you |
