00:01 Hello there. Happy Sabbath.
00:03 Come on in. We're about to meet with the King.
00:05 ¤ ¤
00:52 Good day. I'm Auntie Nat. It's great you could all join us to
00:55 meet with the King. We're about to open the Sabbath. Come and
00:57 join our worship time together.
00:58 Hello Auntie Cecily. It's
01:00 wonderful that you're here with us again.
01:02 I'm so glad to be here Auntie Nat.
01:04 And it's just fantastic you too are here with us again to
01:07 welcome in the Sabbath and share the Sabbath experience with us.
01:11 And you know Teddy's been a bit restless today and so I've got
01:16 hold of him today and welcome Teddy. Auntie Cecily, would you
01:20 like to say a prayer please to open the Sabbath.
01:22 Dear heavenly Father, thank you for keeping us safe through
01:26 another week. And thank you for the Sabbath day where we can
01:30 just come aside and rest in you. We just pray a blessing on all
01:34 the boys and girls who have joined us in our worship time.
01:38 In Jesus' name. Amen
01:40 Amen. Do you know that this is a great time to reflect on our
01:44 week and count the many blessings that God has sent us.
01:47 And Caleigh you have a blessing to share with us today.
01:52 Last night my mom's friend brought me and my sister some
01:57 clothes.
01:59 Fantastic! That's a lovely surprise isn't it. Yes. You'll
02:02 have fun trying those on. Oh that's a lovely blessing. Thank
02:06 you Caleigh. And Auntie Cecily, you have a blessing to share
02:09 with us as well about our wonderful God.
02:11 Yes. We've been spending a lot of time dwelling on God's
02:16 character and when we begin to understand who God is, it helps
02:20 us to build a strong relationship with Him. So can
02:25 you help me with some of the things that we've discussed. God
02:29 is our Deliverer, He is holy, He is the I Am. God is
02:37 compassionate, our Provider and God is love. God is a God of
02:44 order and a God of mercy and He's sacrificial and He's also
02:51 our Creator. Today I want to tell you that God is long
02:57 suffering, which means that God is very patient with us. Later
03:01 on in our Bible study we're going to learn just how long
03:05 suffering God is. God put up with the children of Israel's
03:09 murmuring and complaining and rebellion and you know in the
03:13 end God called them a stiff-necked people and they
03:17 wanted to do things their way instead of God's way. We can
03:21 be a bit like that sometimes can't we. They were continually
03:26 discontented with the way God chose to lead them and even with
03:30 the many miracles that He performed, they still doubted.
03:33 Second Peter tells us that God is long-suffering toward us not
03:39 wanting that anyone of us should perish but that we all come to
03:44 repentance. God is so patient. He waits on us to finally
03:49 surrender our will to Him so that we can repent of our sins.
03:52 God doesn't want any of His children to miss the opportunity
03:57 of living eternally in heaven with Him. He loves us so much.
04:01 So you remember God is long-suffering.
04:04 Thanks Auntie Cecily for sharing that with us. We have an awesome
04:08 God don't we? We do. Do you know another way that we can worship
04:12 God on the Sabbath is to worship Him in song and we have Pastor
04:16 Rick here again with us. Thanks Pastor Rick.
04:18 Hi Auntie Nat, great to be here
04:20 again. Hi children. Let's sing My Lord Knows the Way.
05:38 Pastor Rick can we please sing The Family of God?
05:42 We certainly can.
06:10 Sing it again.
06:39 Pastor Rick can we please sing Sing and Smile and Pray the
06:42 Clouds Away?
06:44 Yes we can. This is another lovely song.
07:30 Thanks Pastor Rick. We sang some of my favorite songs today.
07:34 We've discovered a blessing also with Dr. John this week.
07:38 Let's go and have a look at that
07:40 ¤ ¤Hello boys and girls. My name is Dr. John Hammond and welcome
07:47 to Sunnyside the Australian home of Mrs. Ellen G. White. I have
07:53 some interesting stories for you Just come inside with me. You're
07:58 going to like this.
08:02 Well boys and girls, here we are inside Sunnyside, the home of
08:05 Ellen White. We've got some interesting things to see. You
08:09 come with me children. Let's have a look inside.
08:17 ¤ ¤Hi guys. Welcome back to Sunnyside. We're inside Ellen
08:21 White's bedroom. Come over here. I've got something very
08:25 interesting to show you. Now inside the bedroom, we have the
08:29 bed of course. But she did so much writing, she had a
08:32 Davenport writing desk although she did more writing on her lap.
08:36 Matthew would you like to open and find the secret compartment.
08:39 Well you're pretty smart. You could put lots of things in
08:45 there. Now Elijah open that drawer. What's wrong, won't
08:51 open. I've got to go to this side and you see, nobody goes
08:57 that far. In there is a secret compartment. I wonder what's in
09:02 there; maybe some letters that Ellen White wrote, maybe some
09:08 knitting, I don't know. Over here, this is her dressing
09:12 table and in there in the open drawer is her dressing gown.
09:17 And every house has one important thing because they had
09:24 no bathrooms. And in here we have a potty and that's when
09:30 you couldn't go out to the bathroom in the middle of the
09:32 night. See that. Wow! would you like that job? No. And over here
09:40 I want to show you. Every morning you had to fill this
09:44 with the pitcher and you had a cold, cold bath. That's how they
09:51 bathed a hundred years ago. Okay guys, come with me. Now
09:58 this boys and girls is some of the original furniture.
10:00 This is called a
10:01 chase lounge or a day lounge, so if you wanted a little rest
10:05 during the day, very comfortable but if you want some exercise
10:08 Elijah you come over here and see if you can play this organ.
10:12 It was a pump organ. You couldn't turn it on though.
10:14 There's no switch. You pump really hard and start playing.
10:21 Quite a bit different from what it is today and you had to have
10:25 very good eyes to read that music. Now I'll come into the
10:30 workroom. It's through here. Come with me guys, this is the
10:34 workroom where lots of things happened. This was where Ellen's
10:38 helpers came and they would take her writing, her writing wasn't
10:42 too bad but the spelling wasn't always the best. There's one of
10:46 the original desks. See the pile of books that she had.
10:49 And here's a desk and they would work all night while she slept
10:54 because she used to get up at three o'clock in the morning and
10:59 she started writing again, so they had to work very, very
11:03 hard. Now I hope you've enjoyed this tour but before you go I
11:06 want you to sign your name so when your great grandchildren
11:10 come here they'll look at what great grandpa and great grandma
11:14 did. So you write your name right there. (Pause) There you
11:33 are and you have recorded your names in a little bit of history
11:37 and the next time we come back we're going to do the rest of
11:41 the tour and some of it will be outside. There's some very
11:44 interesting things outside of Sunnyside.
11:47 Hi boys and girls. Happy Sabbath I hope you have your Bibles
11:50 ready. It'll be good if you can follow along with us. Come and
11:53 join us. Sarah, you're going to say a prayer for us to open
11:56 our study.
11:58 Dear Father, thank you for our Bibles. Help us to understand
12:02 what we read today. Be especially with the children who
12:05 watching and joining us in our study. Bless them this day.
12:09 In Jesus' name. Amen.
12:11 Amen. Now Sarah, do you remember what we studied about last
12:14 Yes, how God wants us to be healthy for Him.
12:17 He does and we learnt in the Bible that God wants our bodies
12:21 to be the temple for Him doesn't he. Yeah. Okay so now we're
12:25 going to start in a new book of the Bible. We've studied Genesis
12:29 we've studied Exodus and we've studied Leviticus and now we're
12:33 going to a new book and it's called Numbers. And Ella can you
12:36 tell us from our Remnant Young Scholar Study Bible who wrote
12:39 the book of Numbers?
12:41 Moses did.
12:42 He did and how many years does the book of Numbers cover? 39
12:46 Thirty-nine years, it does. Now we're going to start in the book
12:51 of numbers in chapter three. Nick, you've got our next
12:55 reading. Numbers 3:5-8
12:57 And the Lord spoke to Moses saying, Bring the tribe of Levi
13:01 near and present them before Aaron the priest that they may
13:05 serve him. And they shall attend to his needs and the needs of
13:10 the whole congregation before the tabernacle of meeting, do
13:14 the work of the tabernacle. Also they shall attend to the
13:18 furnishings of the tabernacle of meeting and to the needs of the
13:22 children of Israel to do the work of the tabernacle.
13:26 So God is now officially making known that the Levites will now
13:30 be attending Aaron and his two sons to the care of the
13:33 sanctuary. No other person from any other tribe was allowed to
13:38 do this. Dean you're going to read for us from Numbers 9:18.
13:43 At the command of the Lord the children of Israel would journey
13:48 and at the command of the Lord they would camp. As long as the
13:52 cloud stayed above the tabernacle they remained
13:55 encamped.
13:57 So when the cloud stood still over the tabernacle, the
13:59 children of Israel stayed where they were, but when that cloud
14:02 lifted off from the tabernacle and lifted high above the
14:06 sanctuary, the Israelites knew it was time to go. Anna, can you
14:11 read for us Numbers 10:1-2 please.
14:14 And the Lord spoke to Moses saying, make two silver trumpets
14:18 for yourself. You shall make them of hammered work. You shall
14:23 use them for calling the congregation and for directing
14:27 the movement of the camps.
14:31 So did the children of Israel have mobile phones _ or loud
14:35 speakers? No. The method of communication that God chose for
14:39 directing over one million people through Moses was the
14:43 sound of trumpets. The children of Israel learned that when a
14:47 trumpet gave a certain sound it was a particular instruction for
14:50 them to follow. Ben you're going to read for us
14:53 Numbers 10:35-36 please.
14:57 So it was whenever the ark set out that Moses said, Rise up O
15:01 Lord. Let your enemies be scattered and let those who hate
15:05 you flee before you. And when it rested, he said, Return O Lord
15:10 to the many thousands of Israel.
15:13 So packing up camp and setting up camp was very special. There
15:18 was a particular procedure that Moses followed every time. Okay
15:22 let's see what happens after a few days. Sarah can you please
15:26 read Numbers 11:1-3.
15:29 Now when the people complained it displeased the Lord for the
15:34 Lord heard it and His anger was aroused. So the fire of the Lord
15:38 burned among them and consumed some in the outskirts of the
15:43 camp. Then the people cried out to Moses and when Moses prayed
15:48 to the Lord, the fire was quenched. So he called the name
15:52 of the place Taberah because the fire of the Lord had burned
15:56 among them.
15:57 Mmm. So I'm going to get Aunt Cecily to point to where they
16:01 were on the map, right down there at Mount Sinai. They had
16:05 been there for a whole year. So after three days of traveling
16:09 through the wilderness the people began to complain. They
16:13 were not happy about the discomforts of traveling.
16:16 Remember they hadn't traveled for a year up until this time.
16:20 The Lord, we just read, was angry. Now up until this time
16:23 God had been patient with their whining because they didn't
16:26 because they didn't know any better. God had pity on them.
16:29 But now they knew better than to complain. They had witnessed
16:33 His great miracles, power and mercies so their murmuring and
16:37 complaining was now considered rebellion and unfortunately God
16:41 burnt up the guiltiest of the complainers. Aunt Cecily you're
16:45 going to read for us Numbers 11:4-6.
16:48 Now the mixed multitude who were among them yielded to intense
16:53 craving. So the children of Israel also wept again and said
16:58 Who will give us meat to eat. We remember the fish which we
17:04 ate freely in Egypt, the cucumbers, the melons, the
17:07 leeks, the onions and the garlic But not our whole being is dried
17:13 up. There is nothing at all except this manna before our
17:17 eyes. Mmm. Now the mixed multitude
17:21 were Egyptians who wanted to leave Egypt with the Israelites.
17:24 They got caught up in the Exodus from reasons of being curious or
17:28 just wanting to escape the plagues. They were partially
17:31 converted, partially on the side of God, but not fully committed
17:36 and were a constant problem to the children of Israel.
17:39 Ella, you've got our next verse that you're going to read.
17:42 Numbers 11:10 and 13-14.
17:45 Then Moses heard the people weeping throughout their
17:49 families, everyone at the door of his tent; and the anger of
17:53 the Lord was greatly aroused. Moses also was displeased. Where
17:57 am I get the meat to give to all these people? For they weep all
18:01 over me saying, Give us meat that we may eat. I am not able
18:05 to bear all these people, O Lord because the burden is too
18:09 heavy for me.
18:10 Mmm. So Moses is feeling very burdened down by the complaining
18:15 of the people. He's overwhelmed. Let's see what God does. Nick,
18:19 you've got our next reading: Numbers 11:16-17.
18:22 So the Lord said to Moses, Gather to Me 70 men of the
18:28 elders of Israel whom you know to be the elders of the people
18:32 and officers over them. Bring them to the tabernacle of
18:36 meeting that they may stand there with you. Then I will come
18:41 down and talk with you there. I will take of the Spirit that
18:44 is upon you and I will put the same upon them and they shall
18:48 bear the burden of the people with you that you may not bear
18:52 it yourself alone.
18:53 So God is telling Moses to gather 70 elders to help him
18:58 with the burdens of managing a whole encampment. God is very
19:03 good. Dean, can you please read Numbers 11:18-20 for us.
19:08 Then you shall say to the people consecrate yourselves for
19:14 tomorrow and you shall eat meat for you have wept in the hearing
19:18 of the Lord saying, Who will give us meat to eat for it was
19:22 well with us in Egypt. Therefore the Lord will give you meat and
19:27 you shall eat. You shall eat not one day, nor two days, nor five
19:32 days, nor ten days, nor 20 days but for a whole month until it
19:36 comes out of
19:38 your nostrils and becomes loathsome to you, because you
19:40 have despised the Lord who is among you and you have wept
19:45 before Him saying, Why did we ever come up out of Egypt?
19:50 Dear me. So God sent them quail and some ate so much of it, they
19:55 made themselves sick with fever and died. God knows best. He
20:00 wants the people to be a happy, healthy, holy people for Him.
20:04 He provided manna, angels food, imaging eating angels food, for
20:08 them to eat. But the people complained and craved after the
20:12 fleshpots of Egypt. Okay, let's continue to read about the
20:16 Israelites journey. Anna, could you please read Numbers 12:1-5.
20:21 Then Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the
20:26 the Ethiopian woman he had married, for he had married an
20:30 Ethiopian woman. So they said, Has the Lord indeed spoken only
20:36 through Moses? Has He not spoken through us also? And the Lord
20:40 heard it. Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all men
20:45 who were on the face of the earth. Suddenly the Lord said
20:50 to Moses, Aaron and Miriam. Come out, you three, to the
20:55 tabernacle of meeting. So the three came out. Then the Lord
20:59 came down in the pillar of cloud and stood in the door of the
21:04 tabernacle and called to Aaron and Miriam and they both went
21:08 forward.
21:09 So Miriam followed by Aaron complained and were jealous that
21:14 Moses had now 70 elders to help him. And they were jealous
21:19 because they weren't consulted. So in their jealousy they threw
21:22 accusation at Moses about his wife. Okay Ben can you read
21:29 Numbers 12:6-9.
21:31 Then He said, Hear now my words if there is a prophet among you,
21:36 I the Lord make myself known to him in a vision. I speak to him
21:41 in a dream. Not so with my servant Moses. He is faithful
21:45 in all My house. I speak with him face to face, even plainly
21:51 and not in dark sayings. And he sees the form of the Lord. Why
21:56 then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?
21:59 So the anger of the Lord was aroused against them and he
22:03 departed.
22:04 Wow. So God is speaking to Miriam and Aaron and telling
22:07 them that Moses is His chosen servant and the decision for the
22:12 70 elders to help him was the right one to make. God was
22:16 basically affirming Moses' leadership. Sarah, can you
22:20 please read Numbers 12:10-11 and 13.
22:23 And when the cloud departed from the tabernacle, suddenly Miriam
22:28 became leprous, as white as snow. Then Aaron turned toward
22:33 Miriam and there she was, a leper. So Aaron said to Moses,
22:38 O my lord please don't lay this sin on us in which we have done
22:42 foolishly and in which we have sinned. So Moses cried out to
22:47 the Lord saying, Please heal her, O God I pray.
22:51 Let's have a look at Mrs. White's writings to see what
22:55 they shine on these verses we have read. Ben can you read our
22:58 Torch Light for us please. It will explain it a bit more.
23:01 If Miriam's envy and
23:06 dissatisfaction had not been
23:08 severely rebuked, it would have resulted in great evil. It was
23:13 envy that first caused discord in heaven and its indulgence
23:18 has wrought untold evil among men.
23:21 Thank you Ben. So God does not like envy and jealousy because
23:25 that's where it all started in heaven. Remember way back when
23:30 we studied about Satan. Satan was jealous of Christ's position
23:34 Because of Aaron and Miriam's high positions, they should
23:37 have known better.
23:39 Through this experience Miriam and Aaron were humbled and both
23:43 repented. Moses their brother interceded and God healed Miriam
23:47 but the consequence of her sin was that she had to be shut out
23:51 of the camp seven days. Let's look at our memory verse in
23:59 James 3:16 and let's read that together. You got that?
24:06 For where envy and self-seeking exist confusion and every evil
24:13 thing are there.
24:14 So God knows what envy and jealousy does. He has
24:18 experienced it firsthand. God wants us to trust Him as He
24:23 knows best. He can see the end from the beginning. Do you think
24:27 the Israelites did a lot of complaining? Yes. They sure did.
24:31 We all complain. We can be a bit complaining too at times can't
24:35 we? We need to learn to trust God more. Thanks boys and girls
24:39 for joining us today. I think the word trust is a good word
24:43 to explain our study today. We have a devotional that you can
24:47 download for free from our website, which expands on what
24:50 we have learnt today. Here is information.
24:54 Hey boys and girls, like Auntie Nat said you can go onto our
24:57 website to access our daily devotionals at
25:00 www.adaywiththeking.com and while you're there you can
25:04 also check out Teddy's blog. He's posted some really cool
25:08 photos of us making the show. He also talks about it as well.
25:13 He even posted about his visit to the vet. So hop online today.
25:18 God wants us to trust Him in the directions He chooses to lead
25:22 us. God has a plan for your life and if you trust Him He'll lead
25:27 you in the way that is just right for you. When we study
25:31 out Bibles, God can reveal His will for our lives. Sabbath's a
25:36 great time to spend reading our Bibles. But God also wants us to
25:40 read our Bibles every day. Auntie Nat can you tell us
25:44 about what we're going to study next week.
25:45 Yes. We have a very intriguing study next week. Children have
25:50 a look at your Bibles and see if you can find something about
25:53 spies, because that's what we're going to study about next week.
25:57 Auntie Cecily shall we go over our memory verse that we
26:00 learnt in our Bible study today.
26:01 Yes. Do you want to read that through together children?
26:03 James 3:16-For where envy and self-seeking exist confusion and
26:13 every evil thing are there.
26:16 That's something to think about isn't it. Auntie Nat, will we
26:19 sing our blessing song to the children now.
26:22 Yes, let's do that.
26:23 Are you ready to do that children?
26:24 Turn around so the children at home can see you.
26:27 ¤May God bless you and keep you and fill your heart with love¤
26:42 ¤May God guide and protect you and watch you from above¤
26:53 ¤As Sabbath after Sabbath we greet the day of rest¤
27:03 ¤The day the King of glory has sanctified and blessed¤
27:13 ¤Good bye my friends till we meet again¤
27:18 ¤For another day with the King¤
27:24 Good bye, bye. See you next Sabbath.
