00:02 Hello there. Happy Sabbath.
00:04 Come on in. We're about to meet with the King.
00:06 ¤ ¤
00:54 Good day. I'm Auntie Nat. It's wonderful that you could join us
00:56 to meet with the King. We're
00:58 about to open the Sabbath. Come
00:59 and join our worship time together. Auntie Cecily it's
01:02 wonderful that you're here with us.
01:03 Oh thank you Auntie Nat. I'm really looking forward to the
01:07 Sabbath worship.
01:08 That's great. And children it's just awesome that you're here
01:12 with us today. We're going to meet with the King and it's
01:15 terrific that you have joined us. And hi Teddy. You're so good
01:20 We hardly know that you're there Welcome with us today. Auntie
01:23 Cecily would you like to say a prayer to open our worship time
01:27 together?
01:28 Yes. Dear heavenly Father, we thank you for keeping us safe
01:32 through another week and we pray Lord as we come together to
01:36 worship you that you'll specially bless the children
01:39 who are joining us for this worship time. Please be with us
01:43 now. In Jesus' name. Amen.
01:45 Amen. Do you know a really good way to welcome in the Sabbath
01:50 and to think about all the wonderful things that God has
01:53 done for us during the week is to count our blessings and Cassy
01:57 you've got a blessing to share with us.
01:59 Well my blessing is one morning I was brushing my teeth and my
02:04 mom said that she'll have to drive me in to school because
02:10 the bus she felt was gone. So when we were about to drive past
02:16 the bus stop and the bus was just pulling in and we got to
02:21 catch the bus that day and I like how God looks after the
02:26 little things.
02:27 He does doesn't He. Even trying to catch the bus on time to go
02:30 to school. Auntie Nat's had to pray that prayer many times
02:33 before so that's a great blessing. Thanks Cassy and
02:37 Auntie Cecily you have a blessing to share with us about
02:39 our wonderful God.
02:41 Yes I do. Do you remember all the characteristics of God that
02:46 we've been talking about. Perhaps you can say them with
02:49 me. God is our Deliverer, He is holy, He is the I Am. He's also
02:57 compassionate and He's our provider and God is love. God is
03:03 the God of order and God is merciful and today I have one
03:09 more to add: God is sacrificial. That's a big word isn't it?
03:15 Later on we're going to study about the sanctuary. The
03:19 sanctuary pointed to Jesus coming to die for our sins.
03:23 Mrs. White tells us in the Story of Redemption that Christ went
03:27 into the presence of His Father three times to ask if he could
03:32 come down to this earth to rescue us. God sacrificed His
03:37 Son for us and Jesus sacrificed His body, in fact, His whole
03:42 life for us. Zechariah tells us that Jesus will carry the scars
03:47 on His hands and His feet and in His side to show the amazing
03:51 love of the Godhead for the human race. You'll be able to
03:56 sit on Jesus' lap in heaven and look at those scared hands. When
04:01 we get to heaven God will give us new, glorious bodies and we
04:05 won't have any of those scars; they'll all be gone, all those
04:09 lumps and bumps and scratches that we have. But Jesus, He will
04:14 carry the scars from the cross forever for us just to remind us
04:18 of the great sacrifice that He made for us. So remember that
04:23 God is a sacrificial God.
04:25 Amen. Thanks Auntie Cecily, that's wonderful. It's wonderful
04:30 to know what God has done for us as a human race. But do you know
04:34 another way we can worship God on the Sabbath is to worship Him
04:37 through song. And we have Pastor Rick here with us again.
04:40 Thanks Pastor Rick.
04:42 Thanks Auntie Nat. It's great
04:43 to be here. Welcome children.
04:45 I have a song called More About Jesus. I wonder how many of us
04:50 know it. Can we sing together?
06:01 Pastor Rick can we sing Give Me Oil in My Lamp?
06:04 Absolutely, we certainly can. Are you ready?
07:26 Pastor Rick can we sing the Sanctuary Song?
07:29 We certainly can, it's a beautiful song.
08:55 Thanks Pastor Rick. Won't it be wonderful when we get to sing
08:58 with the angels in heaven. Now we discovered a blessing from
09:02 Dr. John this week. Let's go and have a look at that shall we?
09:06 Hello boys and girls. My name is Dr. John Hammond and we're at
09:10 Sunnyside and we're about to leave and to do some exploring
09:14 and we're going to find something very, very
09:18 interesting. Just come with me and we'll go looking.
09:26 Now this, boys and girls, come close so you can read it, is a
09:38 very significant monument
09:40 because one day many, many, many years ago Ellen had a dream and
09:44 in that dream she saw a furrow. Now a furrow is a hole in the
09:49 dirt that a horse makes when it's pulling a plow. And it was
09:54 only about two meters long and there were no horse marks or
09:58 anything and she wondered what the dream was about and then
10:03 saw in her dream two men come and tell her that this was bad
10:09 soil, not to farm here. And then her dream changed slightly. She
10:14 heard somebody say, probably an angel, don't listen to these men.
10:19 It is good soil. Now the monument says about 500 yards,
10:25 now 500 yards is 457 meters and it is in that direction and I
10:33 dug the furrow this morning because the old furrow
10:35 disappeared 100 years ago. And we're going to go find it. And
10:40 to help you find it, I have left a spade on top of the furrow
10:44 so you can find it. So we're going to go down there. Elijah's
10:48 leading out and we go through the fence because it's
10:52 electrified and I'll open the gate for you and then let's go
10:55 find the furrow. Take us away, Elijah.
10:58 I'm going to go there.
11:01 Absolutely. ¤ ¤
11:33 Okay boys and girls. Let's go find the furrow. Stick with me
11:37 and we go to that big tree. ¤ ¤
11:48 Boys and girls, I dug this furrow this morning but this
11:53 is where Ellen White found the furrow. She came for a walk one
11:56 afternoon on her own and when she found it she saw the men
11:59 coming out of the bush who told her the ground was no good.
12:03 Have you enjoyed your trip? You found it. You can carry the
12:07 shovel back. Say good bye to everybody. ¤ ¤
12:12 Hi boys and girls. Happy Sabbath Welcome to our Bible study. I
12:15 hope you know by now that you can follow along with us in your
12:18 Bibles. Come and join us. Elijah can you please say a pray to
12:22 open our study.
12:23 Yes. Dear Father we thank you for the blessing of our Bibles.
12:27 We ask you to be with the hearts and minds of these
12:31 children today. Help them to grasp and understand what we're
12:34 reading. In Jesus' name. Amen.
12:36 Amen. Now Elijah can you remember what the sin was that
12:39 the children of Israel committed?
12:41 They worshipped an idol.
12:43 Mmm. And was God happy with them for breaking that commandment?
12:48 No. He was angry.
12:49 He was cross because they had broken their promise with Him.
12:54 But you know what. Through the mercy of God Moses interceded
12:58 and the covenant was renewed. God is so patient with us.
13:02 His mercy is absolutely amazing. Now sanctuary building
13:06 instructions that Moses received from God was actually a pattern
13:10 of the sanctuary in heaven. The sanctuary was built in such a
13:13 way that the Israelites could carry it on their journey
13:16 through the desert. Nearly everything had rings that poles
13:20 could be threaded through so the Levites could carry it. God
13:24 thought of everything. And if we have a little look over here at
13:27 some of the pieces, you can see that the poles are through the
13:31 sides of the furniture so that the Israelites could carry it.
13:35 That's pretty clever isn't it? So let's read through the Bible
13:39 now and talk about the pieces that God asked them to build.
13:43 Elijah can you please read Exodus 36:8, 14 and 19.
13:50 Then all the gifted artisans among them who worked on the
13:54 tabernacle made 10 curtains woven of fine linen and of blue,
13:59 purple and scarlet thread with artistic designs of cherubim
14:03 they made them. He made curtains of goat's hair for the tent over
14:08 the tabernacle. He made 11 curtains. Then he made a
14:12 covering for the tent of ram's skins dyed red and a covering
14:16 of badger skins above that.
14:19 Mmm. So there were four layers over the structure of the
14:22 tabernacle. The first was made of linen that had colors of blue
14:26 purple and scarlet with angels embroidered over it. Thanks
14:31 Auntie Cecily. The second layer was goat's hair and the third
14:38 layer was ram's skin dyed red. and the fourth layer was badger
14:47 skin. Kate, can you please read for us Exodus 36:20-22 and 34.
14:56 For the tabernacle he made boards of acacia wood standing
15:00 upright. The length of each board was 10 cubits and the
15:05 width of each board was a cubit and a half. Each board had two
15:09 tenons for binding one to another. Thus he made for all
15:14 the boards of the tabernacle. He overlaid the boards with gold
15:19 made the rings of gold to be holders for the for the bars and
15:24 overlaid the bars with gold.
15:27 Okay now. Children at home you can see that we have a beautiful
15:31 model of the sanctuary that's to scale and Aunt Cecily's going
15:36 to help Auntie Nat here. So you can see the boards that made up
15:40 the walls of the tabernacle were made of acacia wood, which was
15:44 actually chosen by God for its durability and covered with pure
15:48 gold. Now if we were to continue reading it says there were 48
15:51 boards in total, 20 down one side and 20 down the other,
15:56 six on the back wall. Can you point to the back wall Auntie
16:00 Cecily. There were six. And there were two corner pieces
16:04 in the back. You can see the two corner pieces at the back. And
16:08 they were all joined together with tenons, sockets and bars
16:12 and they had rings on them so poles could be threaded through
16:16 and to be carried. Okay, Ben can you please read our next
16:20 reading: Exodus 36:35-38.
16:23 And he made a veil of blue, purple and scarlet thread and
16:28 fine woven linen. It was worked with an artistic design of
16:32 cherubim. He made for it four pillars of acacia wood and
16:36 overlaid them with gold with their hooks of gold. And he cast
16:41 four sockets of silver for them. He also made a screen for the
16:44 tabernacle door of blue, purple and scarlet thread and fine
16:49 woven linen made by a weaver. And it's five pillars with their
16:53 hooks. And he overlaid their capitals and their rings with
16:57 gold but their five sockets were bronze.
17:00 Mmm. So that reading's telling us that there were two special
17:04 curtains in this tabernacle and I'll get Auntie Cecily to point
17:07 to them as Auntie Nat's talking. One was veil separating the
17:11 most holy place from the holy place. The curtain was of one
17:15 piece with no separation in the middle. When the high priest
17:18 went into the most holy place once a year, he would have to
17:22 enter on the side. The other curtain was the entrance to the
17:26 tabernacle. The Bible tells us that supporting the two curtains
17:30 were pillars of gold, five at the entrance and four between
17:35 the two apartments. Okay so let's talk about the other
17:40 pieces now God asked them to make. Now if we were to read
17:45 Exodus 37:1-9 it tells us about the ark of the covenant and
17:50 we've read that in a previous study. Now the Bible tells us
17:54 that the angels or the cherubim were made with their faces
17:58 facing downwards to represent the reverence of the law of God
18:02 because in the ark of the covenant were what? What were
18:06 in the ark of the covenant.
18:08 The 10 commandments.
18:09 The 10 commandments. Also we spoke last time how a pot of
18:12 manna and Aaron's budded rod was inside as well. God's presence,
18:16 the shekinah glory, was in the form of a cloud and it hovered
18:23 over the ark of the covenant. So let's look at the table of
18:26 showbread. You can find that in Exodus 37:10. On it were placed
18:31 12 loaves of bread representing the 12 tribes of Israel. Once a
18:35 week on the Sabbath the bread was removed and eaten by the
18:39 priests and replaced with 12 fresh loaves. This represented
18:43 man's dependence on God for his temporal and spiritual food
18:49 and pointed to Jesus to come who was the living bread. Okay.
18:53 Now our golden lampstand. Can you remember what was carved on
18:57 it that we spoke about last time There was something special
19:02 carved on it, it was almond... It was almond blossoms. It was.
19:06 It represented Jesus who was the Light of the world. And because
19:11 there were no windows in the side of the tabernacle, what
19:14 other reason do you think that the candle stick was there for
19:19 that was lighted, to give what? Light. To give light, to give
19:22 light because there were no windows and the priests had to
19:26 make sure that they burnt day and night. And the priests used
19:30 pure olive in the lamp which represented the Holy Spirit.
19:34 Okay now if we were to read Exodus 37:25 onwards the Bible
19:39 tells us about the altar of incense. The priest burnt
19:42 incense on the altar every morning and every evening. The
19:47 fire on the altar was kindled by God alone and was sacred.
19:50 Remember when we spoke about the incense recipe last time we
19:54 spoke on the sanctuary. It was a very special recipe and could
19:59 only be used for God alone, God alone. It wasn't to be used for
20:03 personal use. Now the altar of incense represents our prayers
20:08 to God and Christ interceding for us in the heavenly sanctuary
20:13 Do you think that inside that tabernacle, do you think it
20:15 might have looked very beautiful I think it did. And we have a
20:21 special reading from our Torch Light, Mrs. Ellen White, that's
20:26 going to explain what inside looked like.
20:28 Aunt Cecily you have that for us
20:32 No language can describe the
20:35 glory of the scene presented
20:38 within the sanctuary. The gold plated walls reflecting the light
20:43 from the golden candlestick. The brilliant hues of the richly
20:48 embroidered curtains with they shining angels, the table and
20:52 the altar of incense glittering with gold. Beyond the second
20:58 veil the sacred ark with its mystic cherubim and above it the
21:03 holy shekinah, the visible manifestation of Jehovah's
21:08 presence. All but a dim reflection of the glories of the
21:13 temple of God in heaven the great center of the work for
21:18 man's redemption.
21:20 Wow! It must have looked pretty amazing, huh, with all that
21:24 gold. So now let's look at the courtyard. Exodus 38:1 tells us
21:28 about the altar of burnt offering. It sat just near the
21:31 entrance of the sanctuary. Elijah can you please point to
21:35 the altar of burnt offering. That's right. Thank you.
21:38 Here is where the animals were sacrificed. The altar
21:42 represented the cross and the animal, which had to be perfect
21:46 without any blemishes, represented Jesus who
21:49 was the perfect sacrifice for us as He is without sin. Sin is a
21:53 messy business. Imagine killing all those animals all the time.
21:57 It was terrible. But God was teaching them that without the
22:02 shedding of blood sin could not be forgiven. It was all pointing
22:06 to Jesus who would come and die for our sins so that we could be
22:10 saved. Exodus 38:8 tells us about the bronze laver. Can you
22:16 point to the bronze laver Nick? Thank you very much. It was
22:21 made from the bronze mirrors that the women had given as a
22:25 free will offering. They were melted down and they were made
22:28 into the laver. The priests could not wear their shoes in
22:32 the tabernacle as no dirt from their shoes could go into the
22:36 holy place. They had to wash their hands and they had to wash
22:40 their feet before entering the tabernacle, which represented
22:44 the cleansing of sin. Now Sarah you have a reading for us in
22:47 Exodus 39:32 and 43.
22:53 Thus all the work of the tabernacle of the tent of
22:56 meeting was finished and the children of Israel did according
23:00 to all that the Lord had commanded Moses, so they did.
23:04 Then Moses looked over all the work and indeed they had done
23:08 it as the Lord had commanded, just so they had done it. And
23:12 Moses blessed them.
23:13 So they finally finished it. We are told it took about six
23:17 months to complete. And Moses checked it all over to make sure
23:20 the pattern that God had shown Moses was the same. And what the
23:25 children of Israel had built. Whew, what a job eh? What a job.
23:29 Okay Ella can you please read for us Exodus 40:34-35.
23:35 And the cloud covered the tabernacle of meeting and the
23:40 glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle and Moses was not
23:44 able to enter the tabernacle of meeting because the cloud rested
23:47 above it. And the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.
23:51 Okay. Now we have a picture up here on our board and let's have
23:56 a look at that and it gives us an idea of what it would have
24:00 looked like. The fact that God came down and resided in the
24:04 sanctuary is a testimony to the work of Moses and the children of
24:09 Israel in following the right plans and being obedient to the
24:14 detail that God required of them It had to be just right for the
24:18 King to occupy. We may not have a sanctuary now for God to dwell
24:23 in but because of Jesus' death on the cross something happened.
24:27 Let's look at our memory verse and read it together. Let's look
24:31 in Ephesians 3:17 and for the children at home, Ephesians is
24:36 in the New Testament. Okay are you ready children?
24:41 That the cross may dwell in your hearts through faith.
24:46 So by faith, if we ask Jesus, He can come and dwell in our hearts
24:51 Praise the Lord. Thank you boys and girls for reading along with
24:57 us. This was a very special study as it teaches us about
25:00 Jesus and the sacrifice He made. You can come to Him any time and
25:05 ask forgiveness for your sins; no lamb required. We have a
25:09 seven day devotional available for you free. Here's some
25:13 information to see how you can do that.
25:15 Hey boys and girls, like Auntie Nat said you can go onto our
25:20 website to access our daily devotional at
25:23 www.adaywiththeking.com. And while you're there you can
25:27 also check out Teddy's blog. He's posted some really cool
25:30 photos of us making the show. He also talks about it as well.
25:35 He even posted about his visit to the vet. So hop online today.
25:40 Today we've looked at how the children of Israel followed the
25:44 plans that God gave to Moses. If we read our Bibles, we can
25:48 discover the wonderful things that God has planned for us.
25:51 We want to encourage you to read your Bibles, not only on the
25:55 Sabbath day but every day. Auntie Nat, can you tell us
25:59 about what we're going to study next week?
26:01 Yes, I'd love to. Our Bible study next week is going to be
26:05 a very interesting study because we're going to look at what
26:09 happens when instructions aren't followed. Have a look
26:12 at your Bibles and see if you can find out about that. We're
26:15 looking forward to seeing you next week. Auntie Cecily can we
26:18 have a look at our memory verse that we learnt in our Bible
26:21 study today.
26:22 Yes, are you ready to read it all together children?
26:24 Ephesians 3:17- Now Christ may dwell in your hearts through
26:31 faith. Auntie Nat, are you ready to
26:33 sing our blessing song?
26:35 Yes. Children can you turn around so that we can sing to
26:38 the children at home.
26:41 ¤May God bless you and keep you, and fill your hearts with love¤
26:53 ¤May God guide and protect you and watch you from above¤
27:06 ¤As Sabbath after Sabbath We greet the day of rest¤
27:16 ¤The day the King of glory has sanctified and blessed¤
27:27 ¤Good bye, my friends till we meet again¤
27:30 ¤For another day with the King¤
27:36 Good bye. See you next Sabbath.
