00:01 Hello there. Happy Sabbath.
00:03 Come on in. We're about to meet with the King.
00:05 ¤ ¤
00:52 Hello. I'm Auntie Nat. It's great that you could all join
00:54 us to meet with the King. We're
00:55 about to open the Sabbath. Come
00:56 and join our worship time
00:58 together. Hello Auntie Cecily. It's just lovely to see you here
01:02 today.
01:03 It's great to be here Auntie Nat.
01:04 And hello children. It's wonderful that you're here
01:07 today as well to help us welcome the King for Sabbath.
01:11 Auntie Cecily, would you like to say a prayer please to open our
01:14 worship time.
01:15 Yes. Dear Father in heaven, thank you for all the blessings
01:19 that you have given us during the week. And thank you for the
01:23 Sabbath where we can come and rest in you. We just pray that
01:27 you would be with us during our worship time.
01:30 In Jesus' name, Amen.
01:32 Amen. Do you know that this is a great time to reflect on our
01:35 week and count the many blessings that God has sent us.
01:39 Now Shanae you have a blessing to tell us today.
01:41 Yes the blessing that I had this week was that it was my
01:45 birthday and I got a kitten for my birthday present.
01:50 Thank you for sharing that with us Shanae. That's a lovely
01:54 blessing. And Auntie Cecily you have a blessing for us as well.
01:57 Yes. Over the last six Sabbaths we've been discussing what God
02:03 is like. We've learned that God is our Deliverer, He is the I Am
02:08 He is holy and He's also compassionate or as we say God
02:13 cares about us. God's our Provider and God is Love.
02:19 And today I want to share with you that God is a God of order.
02:24 Later on we'll be studying how God spent 40 days and 40 nights
02:29 with Moses giving him some very detailed and careful
02:34 instructions. It was very important that Moses knew
02:38 exactly what God wanted because God is very particular.
02:43 You know he made the stars and the planets and the heavens and
02:47 the earth and He made you and me. And we've studied all about
02:51 that before in Genesis. Do you think that our bodies and the
02:55 way they are made are fairly complex? Yes they are. Only a
03:01 God of order and detail could do that. I Corinthians 14 tells
03:06 us that God is a God of peace, not confusion. There's no
03:10 confusion in anything that God does. Order and perfection are
03:16 seen in all His work. And when Jesus died and rose again in the
03:20 empty tomb that he had you know with his grave clothes, they
03:25 were neatly laid within. And John 27 tells us that Jesus
03:30 folder the wraps that covered Him. Even in Jesus' death and
03:35 resurrection He left an example of order. And Mrs. White tells
03:40 us about that in her book Desire of Ages. Who do you think causes
03:44 all the chaos and confusion in our world. Satan. Satan does,
03:50 that's right. So it's important to remember that our God is a
03:55 God of order.
03:57 Mmm. Praise the Lord. Thank you Auntie Cecily. Do you know
04:00 another way that we can celebrate the Sabbath is to
04:03 worship God in song. Pastor Rick has joined us again. Thanks
04:07 Pastor Rick.
04:09 Thanks Auntie Nat. Hello again.
04:10 Let's sing another song. What if
04:12 we sing When the Road is Rough and Steep?
04:17 ¤ ¤ Ready?
04:52 Try it again, eh.
05:22 Pastor Rick can we play Sing the Seventh, It's the Sabbath of
05:27 the Lord?
05:28 Yes, that's a wonderful song. Let's give it a try.
05:30 ¤ ¤
06:13 Thanks Pastor Rick. Singing praises to God in song is such
06:17 an enjoyable part of our worship Dr. John was with us this week
06:22 sharing a blessing with us as well. So let's go and have a
06:26 look at that.
06:28 Hello boys and girls. My name is Dr. John Hammond. And we are
06:31 over at Sunnyside and we're about to leave and to do some
06:35 exploring and we're going to find something very, very
06:38 interesting. Just come with me and we'll go looking. Hello boys
06:47 and girls I'm so glad to be here and we are at Avondale College.
06:55 And this place was first established way back in 1897 and
07:02 Ellen White was living here and she supervised all the buildings
07:07 The first building was a hall, then they built the chapel.
07:11 And after 50 years some of the buildings were getting a little
07:16 bit old just like you would after 50 years. The paint was
07:21 fading and you know there wasn't enough room in the girls
07:25 dormitory to have all the students. And so they decided
07:30 to build another building and you are sitting in
07:34 this building. You know what? They didn't have enough money
07:37 and they got too old retired men and they said will you supervise
07:43 the building on this new dormitory. The bricks were so
07:47 hard to get that when they bought a load of bricks they had
07:50 to guard it all night in case somebody came and stole the
07:54 bricks because this was just after World War II and all the
07:58 soldiers had come home and they were all wanting to build houses
08:04 and you couldn't buy bricks anywhere. Well they got the
08:07 bricks going and this is all brick behind the plaster here
08:11 and the walls went up and they got to the second floor and the
08:15 walls went up further. And they got to the top floor and then
08:20 the building stopped because they needed wooden rafters to
08:25 finish the roof. And the college principle was looking at his
08:29 watch and he's saying, What time do you finish at night? Oh we
08:33 finish at five. Can you work a bit longer because the girls are
08:37 coming soon. And they said, Oh principal, we cannot work
08:41 because we hadn't got any timber Go and look everywhere.
08:47 Well they went, took every timber yard within 200 kilometer
08:51 circle of where you're sitting. And you know what they said?
08:56 Oh we're so sorry. We'd like to sell you the timber but we
09:00 haven't got any. They were so discouraged. And one day, they
09:04 went to one more place and there was the timber man and
09:07 there was the timber man. And they said, Can we buy some
09:11 timber. Yes, I'll sell you some timber. Come in. Oh, they were
09:15 so overjoyed. They were going to get the timber because the girls
09:19 were coming in a few weeks and they had to finish the roof. He
09:23 said, Now sign your name here and I will have that timber
09:29 ready for you (wait for this) two years from now. Oh. They
09:36 were so discouraged. They went out to the car. Their heads were
09:40 hung and an old man came out of the office. He trotted down
09:44 after them. He said, Excuse me. I heard you say Courenbong. Yes.
09:50 Are you from Courenbong. Yes. What are you doing? We're
09:54 building a new girls dormitory at the college. Oh, I used to
09:59 live in Courenbong and when I was a little boy, there was an
10:05 old lady now, was it Mrs. Black or Mrs. White. Ah, it was Mrs.
10:10 White and she used to bring us food because we didn't
10:13 have food in the house.
10:14 She brought us clothes. Is she still alive? And
10:18 Jeff and Will the two old men said, I'm sorry. She died 50
10:23 years ago. Well because she was so kind, I will get the timber
10:34 to your college. When? You will have that timber, when please?
10:42 Tomorrow. It arrived. And you know Will and Jeff, they thought
10:50 of a text in the Bible. It's a strange text in
10:53 Ecclesiastes 11 that said if you throw your bread on the water
10:59 after many days it'll come back to you and that means that if
11:03 you are kind to somebody and you forget all about it and many
11:08 years later you might get your reward. Now 50 years later they
11:12 got their reward and they just finished this building, just got
11:17 the roof up on time. And that is the story of Andre Hall and the
11:22 two men when you go outside, just outside that door there
11:27 there is a plaque on the wall and it is Mr. G. W. Richardson
11:32 and Pastor T. W. Hammond. He was real and he was my grandfather.
11:37 And he often used to tell me the story how God blessed this place
11:42 After 50 years, they cast their bread upon the water and it came
11:47 back to them. Thank you boys and girls.
11:50 Hi boys and girls. Happy Sabbath Welcome back to our Bible study.
11:54 I hope you know by now to have your Bibles ready so you can
11:57 read along with us. Come in and study with us. Sarah you have a
12:00 prayer for us.
12:02 Dear God, thank you for this time we're spending with you.
12:06 Thank you for our Bibles. Be with us now as we read your word
12:09 and help the children to grasp what they read.
12:11 In Jesus' name, Amen.
12:13 Amen. Now Sarah can you remember what we studied about last
12:16 Sabbath.
12:17 How Jesus gave the Israelites the 10 commandments.
12:19 Were they just for the Israelites? Who else
12:22 were they for?
12:24 They were for the whole world, for me and you.
12:26 That's right, they were weren't they? So we're going to begin
12:29 our study now. Nick can you please read Exodus 24:16-18.
12:36 Now the glory of the Lord rested on Mount Sinai and the cloud
12:41 six days and on the seventh day He called to Moses out of the
12:45 midst of the cloud. The sight of the glory of the Lord was like
12:49 consuming fire on the top of the mountain in the eyes of the
12:53 children of Israel. So Moses went into the midst of the cloud
12:58 and went up into the mountain. And Moses was on the mountain
13:03 40 days and 40 nights.
13:06 Mmm. So in verse 16 it tells us that Moses had to wait for six
13:09 days on the mountain before he could go into the presence of
13:12 God. On the seventh day, the Sabbath, Moses went in to speak
13:16 with the Lord. This is before he spent 40 days and 40 nights with
13:21 God. So Moses was away from the encampment of the children
13:25 of Israel for around six and a half weeks. That's a long time
13:29 isn't it? I wonder why Moses had to wait six days to go in to be
13:34 the Lord. And Dean has our Torch Light to read and let's just see
13:38 what Mrs. White's writings shine on that verse for us.
13:41 Thanks Dean for reading that for us.
13:45 Even this favored servant of God
13:47 could not at once approach into
13:49 His presence and endure the exhibitions of his glory.
13:53 Six days must be employed in devoting himself to God by
13:57 searching of heart, meditation and prayer before you could be
14:00 prepared for direct communication with
14:03 his maker. Upon the seventh day, which was the Sabbath, Moses was
14:07 called up into the cloud.
14:09 Mmm. So God was preparing Moses to receive a very special
14:13 message from Him. Let's continue and see what that was.
14:18 Anna, you're going to read our next verse, Exodus 25:8-9.
14:24 And let them make me a sanctuary that I may dwell among them.
14:29 According to all that I show you, that is, the pattern of the
14:33 tabernacle and the pattern of all its furnishings,
14:35 just so you shall make it.
14:36 So God wanted them to build a sanctuary so God can come and
14:41 live among them. Another name for the sanctuary is the
14:44 tabernacle. Let's continue reading just to see what it's
14:49 all about. Ben can you read Exodus 25:10-11, 17-18 and 20-21
14:54 for us please.
14:56 And they shall make an ark of acacia wood; two and a half
15:00 cubits shall be its length, a cubit and a half its width and
15:03 a cubit and a half its height. And you shall overlay it with
15:07 pure gold inside and out. You shall overlay it and shall make
15:12 on it a molding of gold all around. You shall make a mercy
15:15 seat of pure gold. Two and a half cubits shall be its length
15:19 and a cubit and a half its width and you shall make two cherubim
15:24 of gold of hammered work. You shall make them at the two ends
15:27 of the mercy seat. And the cherubim shall stretch out their
15:31 wings above covering the mercy seat with their wings and they
15:35 shall face one another. The faces of the cherubim shall be
15:38 toward the mercy seat. You shall put the mercy seat on top of the
15:42 ark and in the ark you shall put the testimony that I will give
15:45 you. Wow. Do you know that Auntie
15:48 Cecily has some very, very special things to show us. Can
15:52 you show us the ark of the covenant Auntie Cecily and
15:56 what's inside it?
15:57 I'll get Sarah to hold the ark. Would you like to take the lid
16:03 off? We've got the 10 commandments in stone
16:08 inside the ark. We've got the pot of manna and we've got
16:16 Aaron's rod that budded.
16:18 And we haven't spoken about that yet but we'll study about
16:20 Aaron's budded rod in the line of study. Thank you Auntie
16:24 Cecily. It's beautiful isn't it. It is. Thanks for showing us
16:29 that. Let's continue to read what else God reveals to Moses.
16:35 Sarah you've actually got our next reading in
16:37 Exodus 25:23-25 and 30.
16:42 You shall also make a table of acacia wood. Two cubits shall be
16:47 its length, a cubit its width and a cubit and a half its
16:52 height. And you shall overlay it with pure gold and make a
16:56 molding of gold all around. You shall make for it a frame of a
17:00 handbreadth all around and you shall make a gold molding for
17:04 the frame all around. And you shall set the showbread on the
17:08 table before me always.
17:10 So Aunt Cecily, can you show us the table of showbread. All gold
17:15 and beautiful too. That's lovely.
17:17 Ben you want to put that on the table?
17:20 Thank you Ben. Can you put that on the table so the children at
17:21 home can see. Nick can you please read Exodus 25:31-32.
17:28 You shall also make a lampstand of pure gold. The lampstand
17:35 shall be of hammered work. Its shaft, its branches, its bowls,
17:40 its ornamental knobs and flowers shall be of one piece and six
17:45 branches shall come out of its sides. Three branches of the
17:49 lampstand out of one side and three branches of the lampstand
17:53 out of the other side.
17:54 Mmm. Sounds very beautiful. If we were to continue reading the
17:58 Bible it tells us it had almond blossoms carved all over it
18:02 which must have been stunning. Aunt Cecily can you show us that
18:07 Isn't that lovely. Now if we were to read Exodus 26 and part
18:13 of 27 God explains in detail how he wants the tabernacle and
18:18 outer curtains in the courtyards to be made. The detail is very,
18:22 very specific and we're going to study about that in a later
18:26 study, but we have a poster up here on the board and we have a
18:29 picture of what the sanctuary looks like. Okay, Dean
18:34 Exodus 27:1-2. You're going to read that for us.
18:39 You shall make an altar of acacia wood five cubits long and
18:46 five cubits wide. The altar shall be square and its height
18:51 shall be three cubits. You shall make its horns on its four
18:56 corners. It's horns shall be of one piece with it and you shall
19:01 overlay it with bronze.
19:03 Okay thanks Dean for that. This is the brazen altar. It's huge
19:08 isn't it. Must have been very heavy for them to carry through
19:12 the desert. But this is where they burnt the animals so this
19:17 would have had to fit a huge bull. That's very big isn't it?
19:22 We're going to talk a little bit more in a later study. Anna,
19:26 you're going to read our next verse: Exodus 28:2 and 4 and
19:30 this tells us what God wants the priests to wear.
19:33 And you shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother for glory
19:38 and for beauty. And these are the garments which they shall
19:42 make: a breastplate, an ephod, a robe, a skillfully woven tunic
19:47 a turban and a sash. So they shall make holy garments for
19:52 Aaron your brother and his sons that he may minister to me as
19:57 priest. Thanks Anna. Now again, we have
20:00 a picture up here on the board, just a picture there on the side
20:04 and it shows the priest wearing the garments, very, very
20:09 intricate. And if you were to continue reading chapter 28, it
20:15 would tell us in very much detail on how God wanted them
20:18 to be made. And we're going to talk a little bit more about
20:22 that another time. Now Ben, Exodus 30:1-3.
20:28 You shall make an altar to burn incense on it and you shall make
20:35 it out of acacia wood. A cubit shall be its length and a cubit
20:39 width. It shall be square and two cubits shall be its height.
20:44 Its horns shall be of one piece with it and you shall overlay
20:48 its top, its sides all around and its horns with pure gold.
20:52 And you shall make for it a molding of gold all around.
20:56 Thanks Ben. Now Auntie Cecily here has got the altar of
21:00 incense for us. Thanks Cecily. It's beautiful isn't it?
21:03 I hope you're seeing these at home children because they
21:07 really are magnificent pieces, lovely. Okay now this was a very
21:12 special piece of furniture and it's where God wanted something
21:17 specifically to be burnt on it. Sarah let's read that.
21:22 Exodus 30:34-36.
21:24 And the Lord said to Moses, Take sweet spices, stacte and onycha
21:32 and galbanum, and pure frankincense with these sweet
21:36 spices; there shall be equal amounts of each. You shall make
21:40 of these an incense, a compound according to the art of a
21:44 perfumer, salted, pure and holy. And you shall beat some of it
21:50 very fine and put some of it before the testimony in the
21:53 tabernacle of meeting where I will meet with you. It shall be
21:57 most holy to you.
22:00 Wow. So what we just read is a very special combination of
22:03 ingredients and it was to be used for God only. No one could
22:06 make it up for themselves and use it for their own personal
22:11 use. It was God's special recipe strict copyright. Okay, Ella
22:17 you've got our next reading to read. Exodus 30:17-19 please.
22:22 Then the Lord spoke to Moses to say: You shall also make a laver
22:27 of bronze, with its base also of bronze, for washing. You shall
22:31 put it between the tabernacle of meeting and the altar. You shall
22:35 put water in it, for Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands
22:39 and their feet in the water from it.
22:42 Okay, now Aunt Cecily has a beautiful bronze laver. Thank
22:46 you Aunt Cecily. Now God wanted to remind the children of Israel
22:50 of something. Let's read our memory verse that's found in
22:54 Exodus 31:13. Let's read that together.
23:00 Speak also to the children of Israel saying: Surely my
23:06 Sabbaths you shall keep for it is a sign between me and you
23:11 throughout your generations that you may know that I am the Lord
23:17 who sanctifies you.
23:18 So God is giving Moses the instructions again to keep the
23:23 Sabbath just in case the Israelites thought it was okay to
23:27 build the sanctuary on the Sabbath. God didn't want them
23:30 to build His house on the Sabbath. Okay Nick,
23:33 Exodus 31:18 please. Can you read that?
23:37 And when he had made an end of speaking with him on Mount
23:42 Sinai, He gave Moses two tablets of the testimony, tablets of
23:47 stone written with the finger of God.
23:52 So God has written the 10 commandments on stone with His
23:54 own finger so that they'll have them forever as a memorial and
23:58 as we've studied they were placed in the ark of the
24:01 covenant just like Auntie Cecily showed you at the beginning.
24:05 Thank you boys and girls for joining us today in reading the
24:08 word. This Bible study today shows us we serve an amazing
24:12 God. God loved the children of Israel so much that he wanted
24:15 to dwell among them in a beautiful place called the
24:18 sanctuary. We have a seven day devotional available which
24:21 focuses more in depth on what we have learnt today. Here is
24:24 how you can access it.
24:26 Hey boys and girls, like Auntie Nat said you can go onto our
24:30 website to access our daily devotionals at
24:34 www.adaywiththeking.com and while you're there you can
24:37 also check out Teddy's blog. He's posted some really cool
24:41 photos of us making the show. He also talks about it as well.
24:45 He even posted about his visit to the vet. So hop online today.
24:50 When we keep the Sabbath, we get to know God better and
24:54 realize how much He wants to build a relationship with us.
24:57 One way to strengthen your relationship with the Lord is to
25:01 read and study your Bibles. We want to encourage you to read
25:04 your Bibles not only on the Sabbath day but every day.
25:08 Auntie Nat can you please tell us what we're going to study
25:11 about next week?
25:14 Sure. Because today's lesson was so detailed we're going to
25:17 learn more about the sanctuary in a later lesson, but next week
25:20 we're going to see and we're going to read and study about
25:23 what happens when a promise is broken. Please don't miss next
25:27 week. It's a very important study. Aunt Cecily will we go
25:30 over our memory verse that we learnt in our study today?
25:33 Yes. Children are you ready to do that? Let's read it together.
25:39 Exodus 31:13- Speak also to the children of Israel saying:
25:45 Surely my Sabbaths you shall keep for it is a sign between me
25:51 and you throughout your generations that you may know
25:56 that I am the Lord who sanctifies you.
26:00 Children let's sing our blessing song to the boys and girls at
26:04 home. Can you turn around?
26:08 ¤May God bless you and keep you and fill your heart with love¤
26:26 ¤May God guide and protect you and watch you from above¤
26:36 ¤And Sabbath after Sabbath we greet the day of rest¤
26:47 ¤The day the King of glory has sanctified and blessed¤
26:57 ¤Good bye my friend till we meet again¤
27:02 ¤For another day with the King¤
27:07 Good bye, good bye. See you next Sabbath.
