00:03 Hello there, Happy Sabbath. Come on in. We're about to meet
00:05 with the King.
00:07 ¤ ¤
00:54 Hello, I'm Auntie Nat. It's wonderful you could all join us
00:57 to meet with the King. We're
00:58 about to open the Sabbath.
00:59 Come and join our worship time
01:01 together. Hello Auntie Cecily. It's wonderful to see you.
01:04 I'm glad to be here Auntie Nat.
01:06 And hello children It's just fabulous that you could be with
01:09 us to open the Sabbath and welcome the King. And hello
01:12 Teddy. Oh you're so good. It's so great that you've joined us
01:18 again. Auntie Cecily would you like to say a prayer to open
01:21 our Sabbath?
01:22 Dear Father in heaven, we thank you so much for keeping
01:25 us safe through the week and we just pray now that you would
01:29 be with us as we open the Sabbath. In Jesus' name Amen.
01:35 Amen. Do you know that this is a great time the reflect on
01:38 our week and
01:39 count the many blessings that God has sent us.
01:42 Jameeka you have a blessing to tell us.
01:44 I'm glad that Jesus died on the cross for us and that has given
01:49 me a chance to be part of His family.
01:50 That's beautiful Jameeka. Thank you for sharing that with us.
01:52 And Auntie Cecily, you have a blessing to share with us
01:55 as well.
01:56 Yes. Remember last time we met we spoke a great deal about the
02:01 Sabbath. Well now I want to share with you all about the
02:04 character of God who made the Sabbath. Today I want to talk
02:09 with you about how God is our deliverer. Later on we're
02:13 going to study in the Bible how God chose Moses to do a
02:18 special job for Him. Through a series of events God prepared
02:22 Moses to work for Him in delivering His people out of the
02:27 cruel slavery in Egypt. Psalms also tells us that God is our
02:31 rock, our fortress and our deliverer. Our God is mighty
02:37 to save. God also delivered us from death by sending His Son
02:42 Jesus to die on the cross for us so that we could live
02:45 eternally in heaven with him. What an amazing God we have
02:50 don't we. He cares for us so much. God is our deliverer.
02:54 Amen. Thanks Auntie Cecily for sharing that with us. Do you
02:59 another way that we can worship God on the Sabbath is to worship
03:02 Him in song. And we've asked Pastor Rick here with us.
03:06 Thanks Pastor Rick.
03:07 Thanks Auntie Nat. Welcome
03:09 children. I'm thinking we might sing Rejoice in the Lord Always.
03:13 What so you think?
04:00 Pastor Rick, can we please sing This Is the Day?
04:05 That's a Lovely song, yes, let's do it.
05:14 Pastor Rick, could we please sing God Is Our Best Friend?
05:18 He is our best friend. Let's sing it. It's a wonderful song.
06:47 ¤He is so good to me; God is my best friend¤
06:55 Thanks Pastor Rick. It's so good to praise God in song.
07:01 Dr. John has a blessing to share with us now as well.
07:06 Let's go and see what that is.
07:07 Hello boys and girls. My name is Dr. John Hammond and welcome to
07:18 Sunnyside, the Australian Home of Mrs. Ellen G. White. I have
07:20 some interesting stories for you. Just come inside and see.
07:26 You're going to like this.
07:28 Hello boys and girls, I'm Dr. John and we've got another
07:34 story about Ellen and the years that she spent as a wonderful
07:38 prophet of God. You know when you were born you know what the
07:43 first thing your mom did? I'll bet she counted your fingers
07:48 and she counted your toes and she made sure that you had a
07:52 nose. And then she held you and she would have said, I
07:57 wonder what this little baby girl or little baby boy is going
08:01 to be like in life. You know she had sons. She had Henry, and
08:06 she had Edson, and after a while a little boy was born and she
08:12 called him Willie. And Willie, he was a live wire little kid.
08:17 He got into everything. And finally one day they had a girl
08:22 called Jennie who was looking after him and she was trying to
08:26 get things done and she was mopping the floor. Now you look
08:30 at this old fashioned bucket. And when she finished it was
08:36 full of very dirty water. And she went out to get some fire
08:41 wood just for one minute. But you know, I know a little boy
08:46 who died who drowned in that much water. And when she came
08:51 in all was silent. She couldn't hear Willie when normally he
08:56 was chattering. He was not quite two years of age. Where's Willie
09:00 where's Willie and she went inside and Willie had his head
09:04 in the bucket. And his little arm was hanging out. And she
09:08 picked him up and she started to scream. Willie's dead, Willie's
09:12 dead, Willie's drowned. And Ellen, who was working upstairs, she
09:16 came running down the stairs. What's the matter, what's the
09:20 matter. He's drowned, he's drowned, he's drowned Mrs.
09:22 White. Go and
09:23 get the doctor. And she rushed him outside, pulled him out of
09:27 the bucket. He had this horrible gray water coming out of his
09:30 nose and mouth. She rolled him around on the grass. She cut off
09:34 all his clothes and she rolled him on the ground. They were
09:38 saying what's she doing that for he's dead. You know after a
09:43 while she got him up and a little bit of water came out of
09:47 his mouth, dirty, gray bucket water. And she rolled him on
09:52 the grass again and then after a while she saw his little mouth
09:57 just start to quiver. And Jennie was crying he's dead, he's dead,
10:04 he's dead. And all of a sudden whooosh, all the water came up
10:09 and Willie lived. And you know they watched him very carefully.
10:13 And when he grew he was such a mischievous boy. He got into all
10:17 sorts of things. I'm sitting on a rocking chair and one day they
10:21 built a great big hole in the ground called a cistern and they
10:25 put all the water in there. But before the water was in there
10:29 there then men dug and Willie used to watch them. He used to
10:32 sit in his rocking chair right next to the well and he
10:36 watched them. Oh, he was so interested. And one day he saw
10:40 the heads getting lower and lower and lower as the hole got
10:43 deeper and deeper and deeper until he couldn't see them
10:46 anymore, they were so far under the ground. Boys and girls, he
10:52 rocked forward and he rocked back, he rocked forward once
10:54 once more and the whole rocking chair with Willie fell into it
10:58 and he went down Aaaaaa Daddy. And Daddy White heard it.
11:05 He came running out. He threw a piece of wood across the cistern
11:10 He jumped and held onto it and he dropped right to the bottom
11:14 of the cistern. And there was poor little Willie, upside down,
11:19 with the rocking chair on top of him. And they pulled him out.
11:24 Wow! He survived that. You know, he liked doing lots of things.
11:29 How many of you have chickens at home? A couple. He wanted
11:33 chickens and one day when Mommy, Ellen White, was away he bought
11:37 some chickens. And he had maybe 10 chickens and he put them in
11:43 little cage like that. Mommy had a dream. An angel spoke to her
11:50 and said, Look, your chicks are too close together. Let them out.
11:57 Let them have a good time. Now children, I've got some eggs
12:02 here and one egg is no good because this is an egg that is
12:07 formed in a cage full of chickens that cannot even move.
12:11 They can't even sit down and lay eggs because they're all
12:15 standing up and we don't have those eggs even
12:20 though you buy them in the super market. You buy the eggs that
12:25 Ellen told Willie how to make grow and they were free
12:30 range eggs where the chickens run around very happily
12:35 Hi boys and girls. Happy Sabbath Welcome to our Bible study.
12:39 If you haven't got your Bibles ready, go and get them now so
12:41 you can follow along with us. Auntie Cecily would you like to
12:43 say a prayer to open our study?
12:45 Yes. Dear heavenly Father, thank you for our Bibles. We pray that
12:50 you will help the boys and girls to understand the things that we
12:56 read in Your word. And we just pray that you would grant us to
13:01 have Jesus in our hearts as we study.
13:03 We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.
13:06 Amen. Today we're going to start looking at the book of Exodus.
13:09 Remember the last time that we met we went through the book of
13:13 Genesis? That was a big study wasn't it? And we left when
13:17 Joseph's entire family comes down to live in the land of
13:20 Egypt. Well Exodus, children at home, is the very next book
13:24 after Genesis. And we're going to continue our study to find
13:28 out what happened to the descendants of Joseph and his
13:32 family. And Elijah you're going to tell us from our Remnant
13:36 Young Scholar Study Bible who wrote the book of Exodus.
13:39 Ah, the book was written by Moses.
13:41 Moses. And did Moses write Genesis as well? Yes.
13:44 He did didn't he? Okay. All right. Ella you're going to do
13:48 our first reading for today and we are going to start in
13:52 Exodus 1:1.
13:55 Now these are the names of the children of Israel who came to
13:59 Egypt; each man and his household came with Jacob:
14:01 Rueben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun and Benjamin;
14:08 Dan, Naphtali, Gad, and Asher. All those who were descendants
14:15 of Jacob were seventy persons (for Joseph was in Egypt
14:19 already). And Joseph died, all his brothers, and that
14:23 generation. But the children of Israel were fruitful and
14:27 increased abundantly, multiplied and grew exceedingly mighty;
14:32 and the land was filled with them.
14:33 Mmm. So how many of Joseph's family came down to Egypt
14:38 during the famine? What did we just read? Seventy. There were
14:42 were seventy, I think, Ella just read, there were seventy. And in
14:46 verse 7 that Ella read said that they increased abundantly. We're
14:49 going to find out more about that later. Now Nick, you're
14:52 going to read our next verse, Exodus 1:8-14.
14:57 Now there arose a new king over Egypt who did not know Joseph
15:03 and he said to his people, Look the people of the children of
15:08 Israel are more and mightier than we. Come let us deal
15:12 shrewdly with them lest they multiply, lest they multiply, and
15:15 and it happen, in the event of war that they also join our
15:20 enemies and fight against us, and so go up out of the land.
15:25 Therefore they set taskmasters over them to afflict them with
15:29 their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh supply cities,
15:33 Pithom and Raamses. But the more they afflicted them the more
15:38 they multiplied and grew. And they were in dread of the
15:41 children of Israel. So the Egyptians made the children of
15:45 Israel serve with rigor. And they made their lives bitter
15:49 with hard bondage-in mortar, in brick and in all manner of
15:53 service in the field. All their service in which they made them
15:58 serve was with rigor.
16:01 Mmm. So the new king chose not to recognize Joseph's now huge
16:06 extended family as a special people. Instead of being happy
16:10 for them to be in his country he feared them because he was
16:14 worried about their big numbers that they might make war against
16:19 him. But we just read that the king made the Israelites slaves
16:23 to build his cities. Do you think that's a good thing. No.
16:27 No. It would have been pretty horrible. Okay, Elijah, let's
16:30 read Exodus 1:15-21.
16:33 Then the King of Egypt spoke to the Hebrew midwives of whom the
16:37 name of one was Shiphrah and the name of the other Puah; and he
16:42 said, When you do the duties of a midwife for the Hebrew
16:45 women, and see them on the birth stools, if it is a son then you
16:48 shall kill him, but if it is a daughter, then she shall live.
16:52 But the midwives feared God and did not do as the king of Egypt
16:56 commanded them, but saved the male children alive. So the king
17:00 called for the midwives and said to them, Why have you done this
17:03 thing and saved the male children alive? And the midwives
17:06 said to Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not like the
17:10 Egyptian women, for they are lively and give birth before the
17:13 midwives come to them. Therefore God dealt well with the midwives
17:17 and the people multiplied and grew very mighty. And so it was
17:21 because the midwives feared God that He provided households for
17:25 them.
17:27 Mmm. So the king's still worried He thought by making the
17:31 Israelites slaves and making them work really hard that they
17:34 wouldn't keep having children. But they still did and their
17:37 numbers grew. And he wanted the midwives who help the mothers
17:41 when they were having their babies to kill the baby boys.
17:44 That's pretty awful isn't it. Not a very nice thing. It was a
17:48 terrible thing the king wanted to do. But the midwives, those
17:51 beautiful brave midwives refused to do it and God blessed those
17:55 midwives for doing the right thing. And God blessed the
17:58 children of Israel and their numbers continued to grow.
18:03 Kate, you're going to read for us please Exodus 1:22.
18:07 So Pharaoh commanded all his people saying, Every son who is
18:11 born you shall cast into the river and every daughter you
18:14 shall save alive.
18:16 Oh no. Now the king, also known as the Pharaoh, wants all the
18:20 baby boys to be thrown into the Nile river. That's pretty awful
18:25 isn't it? What does it say about the baby girls though?
18:28 Yes they were able to live. That's pretty good isn't it?
18:33 Okay, so Ben can you please read Exodus 2:1-6.
18:39 And the man of the house of Levi went and took a wife, a daughter
18:43 of Levi. So the woman conceived and bore a son. And when she saw
18:46 that he was a beautiful child, she hid him for three months.
18:49 But when she could no longer hide him, she took an ark of
18:53 bulrushes for him, filled it with asphalt and pitch, put
18:56 the child in it and laid it in the reeds by the river's bank.
19:00 And his sister stood afar off to know what would be done to
19:04 him. Then the daughter of Pharaoh came down to bathe at
19:07 the river and her maidens walked alongside the river. And when
19:11 she saw the ark among the reeds she sent her maid to get it and
19:15 she opened it she saw the child and behold the baby wept so she
19:19 had compassion on him and said, This is one of the Hebrew
19:22 children.
19:23 So we find out later in the Bible that Moses' parents were
19:28 names Amram and Jochebed. And they decided not to let anyone
19:32 know that they had had a baby boy because what happened to
19:36 baby boys?
19:38 They'd be thrown into the river. But there is only so long you
19:42 can hide a baby boy. You've got a new baby boy haven't you Nick?
19:47 Yeah. Can they get a bit noisy? Yep. Yeah it can.
19:50 And Jochebed decided
19:52 to make a waterproof little boat and place Moses amongst the
19:56 reeds in the river bank. And who had to watch baby Moses?
20:00 His sister. His sister who we know later on to be Miriam.
20:04 And someone found Moses in that little boat. Who was it?
20:08 Pharaoh's daughter.
20:09 Pharaoh's daughter. You know God has a pretty good sense of
20:11 humor. You know he was the one that made the rule and his own
20:15 daughter saved the baby. That's pretty good isn't. God always
20:19 has a plan. I think that perhaps those angels guided the king's
20:23 daughter right to the spot where Moses was. Okay, now we're going
20:28 to go to the book of Hebrews because we're going to read our
20:30 memory verse and you've got it marked there in your Bibles.
20:34 So children at home, you go to Hebrews 11:23, which is in the
20:37 New Testament. And we're going to read a very special verse.
20:41 Okay, let's all read that together.
20:43 By faith Moses when he was born was hidden three months by his
20:49 parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child and they
20:55 were not afraid of the king's command.
20:58 Do you know, I think Moses' parents knew that God had a very
21:02 special job for their baby Moses to do when he grew up and by
21:06 complete faith they decided to keep him a secret so he wouldn't
21:11 be thrown in the river. At the peril of their own lives they
21:15 decided to take this great step of faith. Jochebed knew that
21:19 Moses had been preserved because God had a great work for him to
21:23 do. Jochebed also knew there would come a time when she would
21:26 have to give up Moses over to the princess to go live in the
21:30 palace. So Moses mother taught him as much as she could about
21:34 God and not to worship the idols that the Egyptians worshipped.
21:39 And when Moses was living in the palace. He was highly
21:41 educated to prepare him for leadership in the Egyptian court
21:48 So he was going to be an extremely important person.
21:50 And Ella you have an important verse to read for us in
21:53 Acts 7:22
21:55 And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and
22:00 was mighty in words and deeds.
22:01 Wow. So Moses became a very great man. Let's continue to
22:06 read our Bibles and see what happens next. Aunt Cecily you're
22:09 going to read for us now. Exodus 2:11-15.
22:13 Now it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown,
22:20 that he went out to his brethren and looked at their burdens and
22:26 he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his brethren.
22:30 So he looked this way and that way and when he saw no one,
22:35 he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand. And when he
22:40 went out the second day, behold, two Hebrew men were fighting,
22:45 and he said to the one who did the wrong, why are you striking
22:50 your companion. Then he said, Who made you a prince and a
22:55 judge over us. Do you intend to kill me as you killed the
23:00 Egyptian? Do Moses feared and said Surely this thing is known.
23:06 When Pharaoh heard of this matter, he sought to kill Moses
23:11 but Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh and dwelt in the land
23:16 of Midian and he sat down by a well.
23:20 Wow. So it sounds like things have drastically changed. Let's
23:23 look at our Torch Light, Mrs. White's writings, to see what
23:27 that shines on the verse for us to understand it more. Now Nick
23:30 you're going to read that for us this time at the bottom of our
23:32 Remnant Young Scholar Study Bible. Can you read that for us
23:35 please.
23:37 In slaying the Egyptian Moses
23:39 had fallen into the same error
23:41 so often committed by his fathers of taking into their own
23:45 hands the work that God had promised to do. It was not God's
23:50 will to deliver his people by warfare as Moses thought, but
23:55 by His own mighty power, that the glory might be ascribed to
23:59 Him alone.
24:01 Mmm. So Moses had made the same mistake just like Abraham and
24:06 Jacob before him of doing things his way instead of God's way.
24:10 We studied a lot about that last time didn't we? God was going
24:14 to deliver them from slavery, not Moses. God used this mistake
24:18 and turned into something good. God had many things he had to
24:22 teach Moses in the land of Midian. And Moses went from a
24:26 prince of Egypt living in a beautiful palace to a shepherd
24:30 dwelling in tents looking after sheep for the next 40 years.
24:34 That's a big change in your life isn't it. God had to teach him
24:38 to obey, be patient and not so angry. Moses had to learn to be
24:43 totally dependent on God and learn to do things God's way.
24:48 Thank you boys and girls for studying with us. Remember God
24:52 loves you very much. Even when you do wrong God still has a
24:55 plan for your life. We have a seven day devotional available
24:59 that expands on what we've studied today. Here's some
25:02 information about how you can access that.
25:06 Hi boys and girls. Like Auntie Nat said, you can go onto our
25:10 website to access our daily devotional at
25:13 www.adaywiththeking.com and while you're there you can
25:17 also check out Teddy's blog. He posted some really cool
25:21 photos about making the show. He also talks about it as well.
25:25 He even pictured about his visit to the rat. So _
25:29 today.
25:31 The Sabbath's an opportunity for us to spend time getting to know
25:36 Jesus. One way to get to know Him is to read our Bibles. We
25:39 want to encourage you to read your Bibles, not only on the
25:43 Sabbath day but every day. Auntie Nat. What are we going
25:47 to study about next week?
25:49 Yes, next week we're going to study about how Moses had a very
25:53 important appointment with God. Children have a look in your
25:56 Bibles and see if you can work out what that is. Auntie
26:00 Cecily shall we go over our memory verse with the children
26:03 that we learned in our study today?
26:05 Yes shall we do that. Let's have a look at our board.
26:07 Hebrews 11:23- By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden
26:15 three months by his parents, because they saw he was a
26:19 beautiful child and they were not afraid of the king's
26:23 command.
26:26 Children, are you ready to sing our good bye blessing song to
26:30 the children at home. Okay, let's turn around so we can
26:34 do that.
26:37 ¤May God bless you and keep you and fill your heart with love¤
26:52 ¤May God guide and protect you and watch you from above¤
27:03 ¤As Sabbath after Sabbath we greet the day of rest¤
27:13 ¤The day the King of glory has sanctified and blessed¤
27:23 ¤Good bye my friend till we meet again¤
27:29 ¤For another day with the King¤
27:36 Bye, Good bye, see you next Sabbath.
