00:01 We are living at a time
00:02 when almost anything can be called Truth.
00:05 Not long ago, truth was set in stone.
00:08 Now, a change is depending on what is popular at the moment.
00:12 A personal opinion now masquerades as truth.
00:16 So, where can we find the truth,
00:19 the whole truth and nothing but the truth,
00:22 so help us God.
00:24 In this program,
00:25 John Carter gives us a closer look
00:28 at The Aims of the Papacy.
00:41 Welcome back, my friend.
00:44 Today's topic is the Aims of the Papacy.
00:49 And I'm talking on this subject
00:51 because I received this letter from Bob, in California.
00:56 I'm going to read it to you again
00:57 because I think it's important so you know where we're going.
01:01 "Hi, John, I hope all is well with you and Beverley.
01:05 I'm not sure if you've noticed what is going on in Scotland
01:08 and Europe right now.
01:10 As I write you, there is a conference
01:12 forming in Scotland with all the world
01:13 leaders to discuss the climate.
01:16 Pope has stated that he will attend the conference
01:19 and present his answer for the climate.
01:22 His proposal is to establish a worldwide day of rest
01:26 to lower the carbon emissions, and of course,
01:29 this day wouldn't be Sunday.
01:32 Although this may help the environment somewhat,
01:35 its real purpose is to get the world leaders to conform
01:38 with the Catholic Church and the pope.
01:41 America currently has a leader
01:43 that has no backbone, and is Catholic."
01:45 Now, let me say this.
01:49 Bob is expressing his viewpoint,
01:51 not the viewpoint of the Carter Report,
01:53 and not mine and probably not yours.
01:57 We're not here to criticize the President
01:59 of the United States.
02:00 He says, "America currently has a leader
02:03 that has no backbone, and is Catholic.
02:07 So, he will certainly bow to the pope
02:09 and is also obligated to do so because he is Catholic.
02:14 John, could this be the beginning
02:17 of the mark of the beast?
02:19 How clever would this be for the pope
02:21 to take this opportunity to advance his agenda?
02:25 What are your thoughts about this?
02:27 Bob, in California."
02:31 Now, let me say this so every person understands
02:35 what I'm trying to do here today.
02:38 We're not talking about Roman Catholics.
02:41 People say, "No, we don't... It's about Catholics."
02:44 No, no, it's not about Catholics at all.
02:47 We're talking about the papacy
02:52 as a political religious system.
02:57 And as we talk about it,
02:58 we recognize that the vast majority
03:01 of God's true children are in the Roman Catholic Church,
03:05 and in some other churches as well.
03:08 I belong to a church that's got only about
03:10 23 or 24 million people.
03:14 I'd be very presumptuous to think
03:16 that all the true Christians were in my church.
03:21 I've traveled the world, and I happen to know
03:25 that there are millions and millions of wonderful
03:29 Roman Catholic Christians who are saved,
03:34 and who are right with God.
03:37 The Adventist Church,
03:38 the person whom I believed was a prophet,
03:40 Ellen White, and she said,
03:42 "The vast majority of God's true people
03:44 are in the Roman Catholic Church
03:45 and the other churches."
03:47 I believe this.
03:48 I believe in tolerance, I believe in love,
03:54 and I believe in grace.
04:00 "What is the power of the papacy?"
04:06 The Roman Catholic Church has got tremendous power.
04:11 I'm talking about the Roman Catholic Church
04:13 as a political system, not just as a spiritual power.
04:18 Now, the Vatican is a state of its own.
04:22 United States government
04:23 has an ambassador to the Vatican
04:26 because it's another government.
04:29 It's a theocracy.
04:31 It's a total dictatorship.
04:34 The pope is a king.
04:37 Now, we're not criticizing the pope as a person,
04:40 but we are talking about a system
04:43 that we believe has been described
04:47 in the prophecies of the Bible.
04:52 Yes, the papacy has immense power.
04:56 The papacy claims to have the authority
05:00 to forgive sins.
05:03 Now, I'm a preacher of the gospel.
05:05 I believe that Jesus Christ is the only person
05:08 who's got the authority and the power to forgive sins.
05:13 Who can forgive sins but God alone
05:16 is a relevant question.
05:19 But the papacy believes that through the power
05:24 that God gave to St. Peter,
05:27 the first pope?
05:30 They believe that through this power,
05:33 the Roman Catholic Church
05:35 can forgive the sins of men and women,
05:38 and open to them the gates of heaven.
05:43 Amazing!
05:45 The Roman Catholic Church, of course, has the confessional
05:49 and onerous good Christian Roman Catholics
05:51 go along, and they confess to the priest.
05:55 And the priest stands in the very place of God,
05:59 and he has the power of God to forgive sins.
06:04 Amazing!
06:08 Now, I ask the question,
06:09 "Does the church need a priest today?"
06:12 Does the church need a priest?
06:13 My answer is, yes, the church does need a priest,
06:18 and the church does have a priest.
06:20 We have a priest,
06:22 and His name is Jesus Christ.
06:26 Jesus Christ is our Priest.
06:30 Therefore, we believe this other system
06:33 is a counterfeit.
06:37 Ellen White, who we believe, had a special gift
06:40 and who was an American visionary
06:44 of the 19th century and the early 20th century,
06:48 said this.
06:50 "The Catholic Church meets the needs
06:54 of almost the whole human race."
06:58 This is a very perceptive statement, she said.
07:00 It's an amazing statement, she said,
07:03 "Satisfies the needs of almost all mankind.
07:05 Number one,
07:07 those who would be saved by their works,
07:11 and number two,
07:12 those who would be saved in their sins.
07:18 This is almost for everybody.
07:20 And therefore, the Roman Church
07:22 has got tremendous power.
07:26 And the Roman Church has got tremendous power
07:29 to keep people in superstition and darkness."
07:35 I've been to these countries. I've been to Mexico.
07:38 I've been to Latin America.
07:40 I've been to Central America.
07:42 I've been to these countries.
07:44 I've seen the power of the Vatican.
07:50 The power of the Vatican is immense
07:53 to control the minds
07:55 and the souls of human beings.
08:01 "Why does President Biden find strength
08:03 and comfort in the mass?"
08:09 Let it be said ever so plainly.
08:11 Today, we're not here to criticize individuals,
08:16 not here to criticize the pope, seems to be a fine gentleman,
08:21 Jesuit priest,
08:24 seems to be a person who cares for people.
08:26 We're not here to criticize the pope as a person.
08:30 Today, we are talking about a system of deception
08:36 that has put itself in the place of God.
08:40 I don't care whether the person is a Roman Catholic
08:43 or a Protestant.
08:44 If he is a church leader
08:46 and he puts himself in the place of God,
08:49 he becomes an Antichrist.
08:55 I believe that we have one priest,
08:56 and that is Jesus Christ our Lord.
09:00 We're certainly not here to criticize President Joe Biden.
09:05 He's an earnest Roman Catholic Christian.
09:09 He has the right to his faith.
09:12 We respect him for his faith.
09:16 But President Joe Biden believes
09:18 in the powerful ministry
09:22 of the Roman Catholic mass,
09:26 and this is something I do not believe in.
09:29 I repudiate it.
09:32 Let me read you a text in the Bible,
09:34 Luke 22:19-20.
09:40 It is talking about the Last Supper.
09:44 Are you with me?
09:45 Luke 22:19, "And He, Jesus, took bread,
09:50 gave thanks and broke it
09:53 and gave it to them saying,
09:55 'This is My body which is given for you,
10:00 do this in remembrance of Me.'
10:04 Likewise, He also took the cup after supper saying,
10:08 'This cup is the new covenant in My blood,
10:12 which is shed for you.'"
10:14 This is my body.
10:16 This is my blood.
10:22 Now, the Roman Catholic Church teaches this
10:25 through the doctrine of Transubstantiation.
10:29 That the priest through the power of God
10:32 can take the bread and through the doctrine
10:35 of Transubstantiation
10:38 that bread is turned into the body of Christ,
10:42 the wine is turned
10:45 into the blood of Christ.
10:48 As a Protestant Christian, I believe that the bread
10:52 is the symbol of the body of Christ.
10:55 When Jesus said, "This is My body."
10:58 It obviously wasn't His body because His body was here.
11:01 But He was saying, "This represents My body."
11:04 A little child can understand that.
11:07 Why have we made simple things so complex and so difficult?
11:13 Jesus said, "This is My blood,"
11:16 when He took the grape juice,
11:19 but His blood was in His veins. So what was He saying?
11:23 He was saying, "This represents My blood,
11:28 which is shed for you."
11:32 But the papacy teaches that the priest has the authority
11:35 from Almighty God to turn the bread and the wine
11:39 into the actual body and the blood of Christ.
11:44 This is the great power of the Vatican.
11:46 This is the great power of the papacy,
11:49 and this is the great power
11:51 that has the President of the United States
11:55 so mesmerized.
12:00 I don't doubt the sincerity of his faith.
12:06 I do doubt his knowledge.
12:08 I do doubt his understanding of Scripture.
12:12 I don't think the President knows a great deal
12:14 about Holy Scripture.
12:16 He has been immersed and brainwashed
12:19 by the teachings of the church.
12:24 So when he goes to Mass as he does every week,
12:27 God bless the President,
12:29 He actually feels the very presence,
12:33 the actual presence of the actual body
12:38 and the blood of Christ.
12:42 And he believes that through partaking of this actual blood
12:47 and body, his sins are forgiven.
12:55 I cannot accept this
12:57 because I believe it is completely opposed
13:01 to the plain teachings of the scriptures.
13:04 But I say, "May God bless President Joe Biden."
13:11 "What are the aims of the papacy?"
13:17 Most people today are profoundly naive.
13:21 You know this is so. I know it is so.
13:25 Most people who go to church, most Roman Catholics and today,
13:29 most Protestants know nothing about Scripture.
13:34 They don't read Scripture.
13:37 Their religion has largely become politics,
13:40 but they don't read Scripture.
13:42 They don't study Scripture, now some do.
13:46 There are still a few Bible scholars
13:48 that are but they're tremendously rare.
13:52 And so most people today do not to understand Scripture,
13:57 and therefore,
13:59 they do not understand the Bible prophecies.
14:04 Now people say, "We don't like what you teach
14:06 about the Bible prophecy."
14:07 Well, look, it's not John Carter,
14:10 who has come up with something new or something...
14:13 The problem is that you have forgotten
14:16 what your church used to teach.
14:20 What I'm telling you today
14:21 is what the great Protestant Churches used to teach,
14:24 and also a huge number
14:26 of Roman Catholic theologians.
14:31 What I'm teaching today
14:32 is what the Lutherans used to teach,
14:35 and the Presbyterians, and the Methodists,
14:39 and the Episcopalians, and the Anglicans.
14:43 I can go, and the Adventists,
14:46 who still, some of them still teach it.
14:50 But this is what was taught by all of the great scholars
14:54 and all of the great Protestant theologians
14:58 and by many, many Roman Catholic priests,
15:03 and that is, the Vatican that's described
15:07 in the prophecies of the Bible.
15:11 And the Vatican has one great aim.
15:15 Are you strong enough to hear this?
15:18 Are you listening, or is this too much for you?
15:22 Is this too politically incorrect
15:25 for your sensitive ears?
15:28 Let me tell you,
15:30 the aims of the papacy outlined very plainly
15:33 in that magnificent book, The Great Controversy.
15:37 Get a copy of it.
15:39 There's a chapter there called, The Aims of the Papacy,
15:44 written by the prophetess,
15:46 Ellen White, very plain.
15:50 She quotes from the Bible prophecies.
15:53 The aims of the papacy
15:56 to rule the world,
16:00 to take over the Protestant Churches,
16:03 to take over the United States government,
16:06 world dominion.
16:12 "What is so powerful about true Protestantism?"
16:20 Most people today haven't got a clue
16:23 about true Protestantism.
16:27 Protestantism, it could be a breakfast cereal.
16:33 Most people know nothing about it,
16:37 but Protestantism gave you the freedoms that you have.
16:42 Australia would not have its freedoms
16:44 were it not for Protestantism.
16:47 America would still be...
16:49 would be in the Dark Ages.
16:50 It would never have become the greatest nation
16:53 in the history of the world
16:55 if it had not been for the Protestant reformation.
16:58 Protestantism put up great in Great Britain.
17:04 Protestantism made the Scandinavian countries
17:07 the wonders of the world, the cleanest,
17:09 the most prosperous.
17:12 Protestantism lifted the world out of the mire
17:16 of darkness and superstition.
17:21 We need to brush up, my friend, I think,
17:24 on our history.
17:26 What was the genius of Protestantism?
17:28 Let me give it to you.
17:30 Here it is.
17:32 Sola Christus, only Christ, I don't need a pope.
17:36 "Yeah, but every..." No, I don't need the pope.
17:39 I have Christ.
17:41 And if I have Christ, I don't need the pope
17:45 and I don't need a priest.
17:47 Sola Scriptura, only Scripture.
17:52 I don't need a hierarchy to tell me what to believe.
17:56 God has already told me
17:57 what to believe in the words of Scripture.
18:01 Sola Gratia, only grace.
18:04 I only need the grace of God.
18:06 Sola Fide, I only need faith.
18:08 Of course, I'm quoting a little bit of Latin.
18:12 But this was the genius of the Protestant Reformation.
18:15 If you want freedom, my friend,
18:18 then you better become a Protestant in your soul.
18:22 Even if you go to a Catholic Church,
18:24 you better become a Protestant in your soul.
18:27 Now, let me read you a text here,
18:29 Hebrews 6:19-20.
18:33 Now, I hope this is not too strong for you
18:35 but if it is so be it.
18:39 It says, "This hope we have as an anchor of the soul,
18:44 both sure and steadfast,
18:46 and which enters the presence behind the veil,
18:50 where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus,
18:54 having become High Priest forever according
18:58 to the order of Melchizedek."
19:01 Bible tells me, I can go into the very presence of God.
19:05 I don't need your earthly priest.
19:07 I don't need your earthly pope. I have a High Priest.
19:11 And the Bible tells me I can go into the very presence of God,
19:16 and through Jesus Christ, my sins are forgiven.
19:20 Does the church need a priest today?
19:22 You better believe it.
19:24 Does the church have a priest today?
19:26 You better believe it.
19:27 The Priest is Jesus Christ.
19:30 And no church, no pope,
19:33 no priest, no minister,
19:37 no ecclesiastical authority
19:40 can separate my soul from God.
19:47 "Why are most Protestants
19:49 so blind to the aims of the papacy?"
19:56 Well, it seems to me today that most Protestants,
19:58 at least in the United States of America,
20:01 are more interested in politics.
20:08 That's why America is in such a mess.
20:11 That's why we're going back into another Dark Age
20:14 because we've gotten away from the Word of God.
20:19 Can't you see what I'm trying to tell you?
20:23 Jesus said, "It is written, man shall not live by bread alone,
20:26 but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God."
20:29 But we have become
20:31 a very ignorant people,
20:36 a very gullible people,
20:38 so easily deceived.
20:43 Also, business dealings,
20:46 people seem to be more interested in business dealings
20:50 than in dealings with Scripture and God.
20:54 And many of us have become dummies,
20:58 as far as the Word of God is concerned.
21:03 Now, a pastor was preaching down in San Diego.
21:06 This is very recently.
21:09 You may find this too hard to believe, it's true.
21:13 He was preaching at a funeral.
21:16 He's supposed to be giving people hope.
21:19 And he got up there and he told the congregation,
21:22 "Well, I don't know what's going to happen
21:23 to your loved one.
21:24 I don't believe in the resurrection.
21:27 I don't know if Jesus rose from the dead."
21:34 We wonder why America is in such a mess.
21:37 It is because we have forsaken God
21:40 and we have forsaken Scripture.
21:46 "Do some Protestant Churches have ambassadors
21:50 to the Vatican?"
21:54 I don't know if it's true to say ambassadors,
21:56 representatives.
22:00 Many churches who got representatives
22:02 at what they call the Holy See.
22:04 The Roman Catholic Church has tremendous influence.
22:09 Pope Francis is on a crusade to bring
22:12 all the Protestant Churches back under the wings
22:14 of the Catholic Church.
22:16 He's just proclaimed
22:18 a great new ecumenical outreach.
22:23 Virtually all of the churches, maybe your church,
22:26 I don't know,
22:27 but most of the churches today are involved in dialogue
22:32 with the Roman Catholic Church.
22:36 The Bible talks about the Mother Church,
22:37 and the Bible also talks in Revelation 17
22:40 about all the daughter churches.
22:43 And it does appear today
22:45 that many of the churches are hurrying to go back
22:50 to the Church of Rome.
22:53 I knew personally, one Protestant leader,
22:58 who went over regularly to the Vatican
23:02 and he sat with the cardinals.
23:05 What did you say?
23:06 Yeah, this man was a Protestant leader.
23:08 I knew him. On one occasion, he came to me...
23:13 And I can tell you the story,
23:14 but I'm not going to because it's too explosive.
23:19 But he came to me
23:21 with a personal message from the pope.
23:26 What was the message?
23:27 "Stop what you're preaching
23:30 or else you're going to be blacklisted.
23:32 We're going to destroy you.
23:36 You're going to go down."
23:40 Did it happen? Yes.
23:41 My wife was there when the conversation occurred.
23:47 Where do I stand?
23:51 I am a Christian.
23:55 I am a Protestant.
23:57 I am an Adventist.
23:59 I believe in the writings of Holy Scripture.
24:06 I have a Priest.
24:07 I confess my sins to this Priest every day,
24:10 many times during the day.
24:13 My Priest is in heaven,
24:15 Jesus Christ the Lord,
24:20 and I love my Roman Catholic brothers
24:23 and sisters.
24:24 I love the pope as a person.
24:28 I love Roman Catholic priests and nuns,
24:38 but I believe in Jesus Christ, my Savior.
24:44 I don't need a pope and I don't need a priest
24:48 because I have Christ.
24:50 Now, in the next session of this program,
24:53 which is going to be session number three,
24:56 I will deal more fully with a letter from Bob
25:00 that talks about The Aims of the Papacy.
25:12 Jesus said,
25:13 "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
25:17 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations,
25:22 baptizing them in the name of the Father
25:24 and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."
25:29 John Carter reports,
25:31 "We have seen God's power as the Gospel of Christ
25:35 has been proclaimed in Africa,
25:38 India,
25:41 Russia,
25:43 Ukraine,
25:46 Cuba,
25:49 El Salvador,
25:51 and many other places.
25:53 We invite you
25:54 to partner with us in proclaiming Jesus Christ."
