00:10 I'm John Carter in Petra.
00:13 Right here in Communist China.
00:16 Reporting from India.
00:18 Hi, I'm John Carter in the Solomon Islands.
00:21 I'm John Carter in Soweto.
00:24 From El Salvador.
00:26 I'm John Carter in Sydney, Australia.
00:29 Join us with questions and answers
00:32 with Pastor John Carter.
00:37 Hi, friend.
00:38 I'm John Carter.
00:40 How are you doing today?
00:42 I'm doing fine.
00:44 Today is my birthday.
00:48 It's my birthday.
00:50 I don't know if I should tell you
00:51 how old I am,
00:53 but I'm getting up there.
00:54 Let me give you just a little clue.
00:58 We've been in this work now,
01:00 Beverley and me for 59 years.
01:05 And I didn't start when I was two years old.
01:08 And so, you know, I'm certainly getting up,
01:11 but today is a great day.
01:14 I've been tremendously blessed.
01:15 I feel, I feel terrific.
01:19 I know this is COVID time.
01:20 And our hearts go out to all those people
01:22 who are suffering with COVID
01:25 and as the results of COVID,
01:27 but in spite of it all,
01:29 and even though we can't be in our television studio,
01:32 we're right here today,
01:34 and we have a message,
01:35 we're talking about plain truth,
01:39 honest answers,
01:41 that's what people are wanting today.
01:43 There's so much confusion out there.
01:46 People just don't know what to think.
01:48 They don't know what to believe,
01:50 but by the grace of God,
01:51 today, we're going to talk about present truth,
01:56 truth that is relevant to you and to me.
02:01 And by the grace of God,
02:02 we're going to be talking about honest answers.
02:05 So we've got lots and lots of questions
02:07 that come in from our marvelous friends,
02:10 our viewers on television,
02:12 on 3ABN and on the other networks.
02:15 And so here is the first question.
02:17 By the grace of God,
02:19 I'm going to be giving you today
02:22 honest answers.
02:24 Here's Wayne.
02:26 Rosemary from Topeka, Kansas wrote,
02:28 "I'm an 86-year-old woman.
02:30 I think I've committed the unpardonable sin.
02:33 Some years ago, I drove my family away.
02:36 I told them to stay away.
02:38 We are now talking again,
02:40 but I feel that I have sinned against the Holy Spirit.
02:43 Is there hope for this foolish old woman?
02:46 Oh, you're not... You're not foolish old woman.
02:50 I think you're probably...
02:51 Well, I shouldn't say probably.
02:53 I'm sure you're a very beautiful lady,
02:56 86 years of age.
03:00 Hey, that's even older than me.
03:05 So I've got empathy for you my dear.
03:08 You're 86,
03:09 but I'm coming up the road behind you.
03:12 I hope you're feeling as good as I'm feeling here today.
03:16 Have you committed the unpardonable sin?
03:18 No, you haven't.
03:20 This is the honest truth.
03:22 You haven't committed the unpardonable sin,
03:24 and I can prove it to you out of the Holy Bible.
03:29 Can I read you a text?
03:31 And I want to say to Wayne, thank you, Wayne.
03:34 Wayne Hackett for being with us today,
03:37 even though you're not here in the studio,
03:39 you've got all these questions
03:41 and you're reading these questions
03:43 that have come in from our beautiful viewers.
03:46 Now, I want to tell this beautiful 86-year-old lady,
03:50 why she has not committed the unpardonable sin.
03:54 Jesus said this, "And so I tell you,"
03:56 this is, let me see.
03:57 Matthew 12:31-32.
04:03 I'm gonna read it to you out of the Bible.
04:04 "And so I tell you," this is Jesus talking.
04:07 You can believe what Jesus says.
04:09 "So I tell you,
04:10 every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven, man."
04:14 Hey, that's great news.
04:16 God will forgive the sin of adultery,
04:18 fornication, even murder.
04:20 Hey, David committed just about all of those things.
04:23 "Every sin will be forgiven men,
04:26 but the blasphemy against the Spirit
04:29 will not be forgiven."
04:31 That's the unpardonable sin.
04:33 When you sin against the Holy Spirit,
04:35 Jesus says,
04:37 "Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of man
04:40 will be forgiven,
04:42 but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit
04:45 will not be forgiven,
04:47 either in this age or in the age to come."
04:53 Jesus said, I want you to hear this,
04:56 86-year-old beautiful lady.
05:00 Want you to hear this.
05:01 Jesus said,
05:03 "Every sin will be forgiven
05:05 if we confess that sin to God,
05:08 and if we repent of that sin."
05:11 Will God forgive fornication? Yes, He will.
05:13 Will He forgive murder? Yes, He will.
05:16 Will He forgive adultery?
05:17 Yes, He will.
05:19 Will He forgive lying?
05:21 Yes, He will.
05:24 But there's a condition
05:26 we've got to repent of our sins,
05:27 we've got to come to Christ.
05:29 We've got to come to God
05:31 and we've got to repent of our sins.
05:38 Now, this is where the Holy Spirit comes in.
05:40 Jesus says,
05:42 "If you sin against the Holy Spirit,
05:45 you'll never be forgiven."
05:47 I'm going to tell you a story
05:48 that goes back many, many years.
05:50 Beverley and I just been married
05:52 for a little while.
05:54 We were staying in a town in Australia, wait for it,
05:57 the name of the town was Wagga Wagga
06:00 and we were staying right next to a train track.
06:04 The Southern Aurora used to go past midnight.
06:07 We'd be sleeping peacefully like babies.
06:11 And then at 12 o'clock,
06:12 we would be shaken out of our sleep.
06:16 Almost scared out of our skins
06:18 by the roar of the Southern Aurora.
06:22 This train woke us up.
06:25 Woke up the second night and the third night,
06:28 the fourth night...
06:30 Well, heard but, no just went back to sleep,
06:33 the fifth night, oh, you're a bit of...
06:36 The sixth night,
06:37 the seventh night we slept through it.
06:41 You see, we can become sensitized.
06:46 You get this?
06:47 We can become sensitized.
06:50 We can build calluses, not only on our hands,
06:53 but on our hearts.
06:57 When the Holy Spirit comes and talks to us,
06:59 we should say,
07:01 "Yes, I'm going to repent of this sin
07:02 and I'm going to do it now."
07:05 But if you keep saying no to the Holy Spirit,
07:09 you will get calluses on your soul,
07:12 your ears will become hardened.
07:16 And you won't hear the voice of the Spirit of God.
07:18 Therefore, you will not repent of your sins.
07:22 And when you do not repent of your sins,
07:25 this leads to the state that is called in the Bible,
07:29 the unpardonable sin.
07:32 Now this 86-year-old lady who wrote this question
07:35 hasn't committed the unpardonable sin
07:37 because she's got a guilty conscience,
07:40 which is the evidence
07:42 that the Holy Spirit is talking to her soul.
07:45 So my 86-year-old dear, just realize this.
07:50 God loves you.
07:51 Jesus died for you.
07:53 And the Holy Spirit is talking to you.
07:55 Now I'm gonna come over here a bit further
07:57 if you folks to be patient with me.
07:59 Ephesians 4:18-19,
08:05 we're talking here today,
08:07 the honest truth.
08:09 It says,
08:10 "They are darkened in their understanding
08:13 and separated from the life of God
08:15 because of the ignorance that is in them
08:18 due to the hardening of their hearts."
08:24 Oh, wow!
08:27 Then it says,
08:28 "Having lost all sensitivity,
08:30 they have given themselves over to sensuality
08:33 as to indulgent in every kind of impurity
08:36 with a continual lust for more,
08:40 it says, they've lost all sensitivity."
08:43 Their hearts have become hard.
08:46 The Southern Aurora is roaring down the track.
08:51 They can't hear it anymore.
08:53 They've heard it so often.
08:55 They've said no, no, no.
08:58 And every time a person says no to God,
09:02 it's easier to say no the next time.
09:06 And if a person keeps saying no, no, no, no, no,
09:09 he will build calluses on his soul,
09:13 his spiritual ears will become deaf.
09:17 That's the most dangerous condition a person can get into
09:22 when he loses all sensitivity.
09:25 But 86-year-old lady, what should you do?
09:29 Repent of your sin.
09:31 Tell God, you're sorry.
09:33 And realize that Jesus died for you.
09:37 And that God loves you and accept this free salvation
09:43 and be saved in the kingdom.
09:48 Great question.
09:50 Now here's another great question
09:54 from Wayne Hackett.
09:58 Bob from Flint, Michigan wants to know,
10:01 "Should Christians be involved in politics?
10:03 My pastor openly supports the Republican Party
10:06 from the pulpit.
10:08 Where do you stand?"
10:11 I was sort of afraid somebody was going to ask that awkward,
10:16 embarrassing question
10:19 that I didn't want to talk about.
10:24 Should a Christian be involved in politics?
10:27 Why not?
10:29 A Christian can be involved in any legitimate activity,
10:33 any lawful activity.
10:36 You've heard of William Wilberforce,
10:39 the great British reformer
10:41 who led to the emancipation of so many slaves
10:46 who stopped the slave trade in the British Empire
10:49 while he was a member of parliament.
10:52 We need good people in parliament
10:55 and in the Senate and in the Congress.
10:59 People who fear God trusting God
11:02 and who have a sense of right and wrong.
11:05 So a Christian can be involved in politics, absolutely.
11:09 Now, the person has had the impertinence
11:16 to ask me,
11:17 do I belong to a political party.
11:21 And I'm going to confess in public,
11:23 yes, I belong to a party.
11:25 I belong to a party.
11:29 I belong to Christ's party, not a political party.
11:33 I don't care what party you belong to,
11:35 but this is my choice.
11:40 I don't belong to any political party.
11:44 I am fiercely an independent.
11:47 I love people who are Republicans.
11:49 I love people who are Democrats.
11:52 I love people who, well, don't belong to anything.
11:58 God loves people.
11:59 I want you to know this, God loves you and so do I.
12:05 Hear this? God loves you.
12:07 There are good people wherever you go.
12:09 And there are bad people wherever you go.
12:12 We ought to judge people
12:14 on who they are and what they are.
12:18 You know why people originally came to America?
12:21 They came to get away from that church state system
12:25 that had been such a curse in Europe
12:28 for hundreds and hundreds of years.
12:31 When the church got involved in politics,
12:34 the Dark Ages,
12:35 when the church joined to the state,
12:37 that became the very essence
12:40 and the very heart of Antichrist.
12:43 And I read your text here out of the Apocalypse.
12:46 That's Revelation 17,
12:48 "One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls
12:51 came and said to me,
12:52 'Come, I will show you the punishment
12:54 of the great prostitute, who sits on many waters."
12:58 In the Bible, in the prophecies,
13:00 you got two women.
13:02 A good woman represents good church.
13:05 A bad woman represents the bad church.
13:09 And the bad church is the Antichrist.
13:13 You want to know what the essence and the heart
13:16 and the soul of Antichrist is?
13:18 Well, hang in there.
13:21 Says, "The great prostitute, who sits on many waters.
13:25 With her, the kings of the earth
13:27 committed adultery,
13:28 not literally, but an unholy alliance,
13:32 and the inhabitants of the earth
13:33 when were intoxicated
13:35 with the wine of her adulteries."
13:39 That got so mixed up,
13:41 did this church so mixed up in political power
13:44 that they became so crazy that they were drunk.
13:48 They couldn't think straight.
13:50 Have you met people like this?
13:52 They can't think straight.
13:55 A verse 3 Revelation 17 says,
13:58 "Then the angel carried me away in the Spirit into a desert.
14:02 There I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast."
14:06 The beast is the state.
14:09 "The beast was covered with blasphemous names
14:12 and had seven heads and ten horns."
14:14 This is the great Roman beast.
14:19 "The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet,
14:23 was glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls."
14:26 She got lots of money.
14:28 She held a golden cup in her hand
14:30 filled with abominable things
14:33 and the filth of her adulteries."
14:35 Wow!
14:38 "This title was written on her forehead mystery:
14:41 Babylon the great, the mother of prostitutes
14:45 and the abominations of the earth.
14:47 I saw that the woman was drunk with the blood of the saints.
14:52 The blood of those who bore testimony to Jesus."
14:56 When I saw her it says,
14:58 he wandered with great amazement.
15:01 The beast is the state.
15:05 The woman, this prostitute here is the apostate church.
15:11 And here you've got a system of church
15:13 and state and they join together
15:18 to persecute people
15:21 and to enforce religious laws.
15:25 That is the heart and the soul of Antichrist.
15:31 The great pioneers
15:32 who established the United States of America
15:35 believed in what I'm talking about today.
15:38 This is the honest truth.
15:43 You're giving me honest questions.
15:44 I'm trying to give you honest answers.
15:46 So help me, God.
15:48 That, my friend,
15:50 I believe is the honest truth.
15:54 Now is my buddy Wayne Hackett, another question.
16:01 Cheryl from Denver, Colorado
16:03 is concerned that COVID-19 has become politicized.
16:07 Do you think it's a hoax?
16:09 What is your attitude to science?
16:11 What political party do you belong to?
16:15 Oh, goodness, me.
16:16 I wish you folks would ask me easy questions on my birthday.
16:22 I think you owe it to me.
16:23 I've been doing this work.
16:24 Beverley and I have been in this work of evangelism
16:27 and teaching the truth
16:28 and trying to win souls to Christ.
16:30 We've been doing this for 59 years.
16:33 So at least on my birthday,
16:35 you should be asking me some very easy questions,
16:39 but actually you are,
16:41 this is a great question
16:42 that Wayne has brought from one of our friends.
16:47 What do I know about COVID-19?
16:48 Well, I'm not a scientist.
16:50 I'm not a doctor,
16:53 but I do know that
16:54 in the United States of America,
16:55 where I've lived for 35 years,
16:58 more than half a million
17:00 precious American friends have died.
17:03 I have a dear friend who died of COVID
17:05 just a week or two ago.
17:07 A dear friend who died of COVID.
17:10 I've got a daughter who is an intensive care nurse,
17:14 who is working in San Francisco,
17:15 trying to save people who are dying of COVID-19.
17:19 Don't tell me it's a hoax.
17:21 It's not a hoax.
17:23 She's married to a man who's an anesthesiologist.
17:25 His job is to put this breathing apparatus
17:28 down the throat, into the lungs.
17:31 Of course, there's tremendous tension.
17:33 Working terribly hard,
17:35 long hours and seeing people die.
17:40 As I said, just a few days ago,
17:42 a dear friend of mine died of COVID-19.
17:44 It was not a hoax.
17:47 I've had other friends, one of the elders of my church,
17:52 he was retired and moved up North.
17:54 You wouldn't meet a better man.
17:56 He's just a great man.
17:59 His name was Fernando.
18:03 Fernando.
18:04 He died of COVID-19.
18:07 It's not a hoax.
18:09 Do I believe in science?
18:11 I believe in genuine science.
18:15 Now, of course, there's some bogus science.
18:20 I don't believe in the theory of evolution
18:23 that we've all come from a primordial swamp.
18:27 And we all came from a single amoeba,
18:32 some cell or something like this
18:34 billions of years.
18:35 I don't believe this, I believe in truth.
18:39 I believe in true science.
18:42 I believe in going where the evidence goes.
18:47 Now Jesus said this and listen carefully.
18:51 Jesus said,
18:52 "You'll know the truth
18:53 and the truth will make you free."
18:55 It is a tragedy
18:57 that politics gets in the way of truth
19:00 and COVID-19 has become politicized.
19:03 That's a tragedy,
19:07 'cause the most important thing we can do is
19:09 to try to save souls and to try to save lives.
19:16 And I want you to know,
19:20 if you've got COVID or if you've got a loved one,
19:22 who's got COVID
19:23 or if you've got a loved one who has died from COVID.
19:27 I want you to know
19:30 that we have our loving heavenly Father
19:33 who gave His Son Jesus to die for us.
19:36 I want you to know this,
19:38 it's going to be better one day,
19:41 we're gonna beat this thing.
19:44 And one day, my friend, one day,
19:48 there's gonna be a new world,
19:50 no sickness, no sorrow, no death
19:54 or any of those things.
19:57 The great news of the Bible is this.
19:59 Jesus is coming.
20:03 David belongs to a church in Sydney
20:05 that once had more than 1000 members,
20:08 but now is down to 150.
20:11 He wants to know
20:12 what is happening to the church
20:14 in today's secular society?
20:18 Well, I love Sydney.
20:22 One of my favorite cities in the world.
20:24 Let me tell you something.
20:26 One of the biggest churches in the world
20:28 is in secular Sydney,
20:30 where tens of thousands of people come together
20:33 every weekend to worship God,
20:36 because they're just full of love for God.
20:40 And this is in secular Sydney.
20:45 Never count the church out
20:48 because if you belong
20:49 to the true church of the living God
20:51 that worships Jesus
20:53 and follows the Bible,
20:55 your church is never going to die.
20:59 But if I belong to a church
21:00 that used to have a thousand members or more,
21:03 and I'm down to 150,
21:05 I would start to think
21:06 maybe there's something wrong
21:07 with what's going on inside that church,
21:10 because the Bible talks about evangelism.
21:13 Some people say we hate the very word evangelism.
21:16 Well, that's the reason
21:18 why your church is dying, my friend,
21:19 because you hate evangelism.
21:21 You know what evangelism means?
21:23 Evangelism means, now wait for this,
21:26 evangelism means
21:27 the preaching of the Gospel of Christ.
21:31 How can you hate that?
21:33 And the most successful churches in the world today
21:36 believe in evangelism.
21:38 They go out and they preach the gospel.
21:40 They're preaching it on television,
21:41 they're preaching it in halls.
21:43 They're preaching it everywhere.
21:44 They're having small groups,
21:46 but they have a passion in their souls,
21:48 they've got a fire in their bellies
21:51 and those churches are growing.
21:52 Jesus said this,
21:54 I'm gonna see if I can find this text.
21:56 Matthew 16:18.
22:03 Are you ready for this? Here it comes.
22:06 All right, verse 18.
22:07 Jesus said,
22:09 "But I tell you that you are Peter,
22:11 and on this rock I will build my church,
22:13 and the gates of Hades will not overcome it."
22:19 The gates of hell,
22:21 the legions of evil angels,
22:28 dictators,
22:30 wicked politicians, Hitlers,
22:35 I don't care.
22:36 They will never defeat the church of God
22:40 because the true church of God is built upon the rock.
22:44 And the rock is Jesus Christ Himself.
22:48 And the true church at last will triumph
22:51 and God's people will go home to glory.
22:56 That's the honest truth.
23:00 Mary from New Zealand has a few questions.
23:03 "What do you think of Pope Francis?
23:06 What do you think about the Australian cardinal
23:08 who was found guilty of pedophilia
23:10 and locked up in Victoria?
23:12 What do you think
23:14 of the Pope's recent pronouncement
23:15 on homosexual unions?
23:19 Well, now that's a big question.
23:20 I just hope I can remember it all.
23:23 There's a series of questions.
23:25 What do I think of Pope Francis?
23:27 Well, I don't know Pope Francis.
23:29 I can tell you a few things about Pope Francis,
23:32 but I don't want to be judgmental.
23:35 Many of my friends think
23:36 he's just the nicest sort of guy,
23:39 he's graded,
23:41 you know, shaking hands and kissing babies.
23:43 And they say, he's a very nice person.
23:46 The pope is a Jesuit, of course.
23:50 The Jesuits are just great intellectuals
23:54 with a tremendous mission.
23:56 And this is a pope with a mission.
24:00 Some would say with some legitimacy
24:04 I think that Pope Francis is pushing a band wagon
24:09 that is called liberalism.
24:13 Others would say just trying to make things
24:16 more accessible to people to come into the church.
24:22 Now, of course, for more than a thousand years,
24:24 the Catholic Church has been a very conservative
24:27 and a rather cold state organization,
24:30 very exclusive.
24:32 If you weren't a Roman Catholic,
24:34 you are gonna go to hell,
24:36 then came along good Pope John
24:37 and he started to call us Protestants,
24:39 separated brethren.
24:41 Well, that was nice.
24:42 And Pope Francis has come a little bit further.
24:45 And Pope Francis now is reaching out
24:47 and he's making tremendous stirs,
24:49 the conservatives in his own church
24:51 are fighting him fiercely.
24:55 He seems to be making rather liberal statements
24:58 about gay marriage and other things like this,
25:01 though his own church is totally opposed,
25:04 of course, to gay marriage,
25:07 even though the Roman Catholic Church
25:09 had lots and lots and lots of problems with priests
25:13 who have been pedophiles
25:15 and all other types of sexual deviance.
25:19 But this is a pope
25:20 who is trying to show that the Roman Catholic Church
25:23 has got a smiling face.
25:27 And therefore he is teaching some ideas
25:30 that I think are not taught in the Bible.
25:34 I believe that Pope Francis,
25:36 even though he seems to be a very nice man
25:40 would do better
25:42 if he were to preach from the Bible
25:45 and to show us exactly
25:47 what the commandments of God require,
25:49 and if he were to preach the Gospel of Christ,
25:54 but I don't want to be critical of Pope Francis.
25:59 I think we've all got enough mistakes in our own lives
26:03 and enough of our own private sins.
26:07 But I believe that what is needed today,
26:10 the biggest need today in the Christian Church
26:12 is for people to teach the honest truth.
26:29 Jesus said,
26:31 "All authority has been given to Me
26:33 in heaven and on earth.
26:35 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations,
26:39 baptizing them in the name of the Father
26:42 and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."
26:47 John Carter reports,
26:49 "We have seen God's power as the Gospel of Christ
26:52 has been proclaimed in Africa,
26:56 India,
26:58 Russia,
27:01 Ukraine,
27:04 Cuba,
27:07 El Salvador, and many other places.
27:10 We invite you to partner with us
27:14 in proclaiming Jesus Christ."
27:19 To God be the glory,
27:22 great things He has done.
