00:51 The solution to corruption, crime and anarchy." 00:57 Hot topic. 00:59 We're going to give you some great answers today. 01:02 I've now lived with my family 01:04 in the United States of America for 35 years. 01:10 I love America. 01:14 Beverley and I have been watching 01:16 some programs with the Smithsonian, 01:19 great documentaries 01:21 that highlight the great states 01:23 of the United States of America. 01:25 Absolutely astounding. 01:28 Quite amazing. 01:30 The place is so big and so vast and so wealthy 01:33 and so, so just wonderful. 01:36 So I'm proud that I am an American, 01:41 lived here for 35 years, 01:44 I know a little bit about this country. 01:47 I love this place. 01:49 I love its ideals. 01:51 I love the dreams. 01:53 America has been very, very good to me. 01:58 And when I came to America, 01:59 just wondering how I was going to get along, 02:03 I discovered 02:05 that this was a land of opportunity. 02:08 And if you were to do your best 02:10 that you would succeed in the land of America, 02:15 I love America. 02:17 I also love the land of my birth, 02:20 the land down under Australia. 02:23 But today we're talking about the United States of America. 02:26 And we're going to try to answer 02:28 this question, 02:30 Will America survive? 02:34 The solution to corruption, crime and anarchy. 02:41 Because there are lots of folks today 02:43 who are predicting the demise of America. 02:48 I'm going to take my Bible 02:49 and I'm going to come over here to 2 Chronicles. 02:53 I want you to stay with me, my friend. 02:55 I'm going to come over here to 2 Chronicles Chapter 7. 03:02 And it's talking about Solomon. 03:04 They say he was the most wise man, 03:07 the wisest man on the face of the earth. 03:10 Now that is debatable. 03:12 He had about 1,000 wives and concubines. 03:16 But in spite of that, God spoke to him. 03:18 And 03:20 2 Chronicles 7:13-14, 03:26 it says these words. 03:29 This is the key thought. 03:32 When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, 03:36 or command the locusts to devour the land, 03:40 or send pestilence among My people," 03:45 my people, the people of God, 03:47 those who profess to follow the ways of God 03:51 and the truths of the Bible, 03:52 like the American people, 03:55 "if My people 03:57 who are called by My name will humble themselves, 04:01 and pray and seek My face, 04:05 and turn from their wicked ways, 04:08 then I will hear from heaven, 04:10 and will forgive their sin and heal their land." 04:17 This is a pretty important text. 04:19 The Bible says, 04:21 "If the people of God 04:23 turn away from the truths of God, 04:26 and God sends them pestilences and disasters." 04:32 Then it says this, 04:33 "If my people who call by My name." 04:37 Of course, the American nation was founded on God's name. 04:42 Don't believe the big lie 04:45 that this nation was founded by atheists. 04:50 I'm proud of the founding 04:52 of the United States of America. 04:54 George Washington said these words, 04:56 he said, "It's impossible to rightly govern a nation 05:01 without God and the Bible." 05:03 This leads me to this truth. 05:06 And please notice it 05:08 because it's of paramount importance. 05:11 It is the theme of this discourse today. 05:15 Healing, prosperity, peace, security, 05:19 and greatness come from God. 05:23 People who say today, 05:25 people who don't believe in God, 05:27 people who are just secular, 05:28 they say, no, 05:30 prosperity comes from the state. 05:34 Prosperity comes from us. 05:37 But the Bible teaches, look at it. 05:39 Healing, prosperity, peace, security, 05:45 and greatness come from God. 05:48 I say to you, my friend, this is the truth. 05:52 Don't forget it. 05:55 And this is a little controversial 05:57 in today's climate. 06:00 Greatness does not come from political parties. 06:05 Oh, now, it doesn't come 06:08 from a grand coalition of church and state. 06:14 Now some years back in Southern California here, 06:18 I looked out the window of my home. 06:21 It was after one of the elections, 06:23 a lady was driving up the street, 06:25 and she had a big banner. 06:29 And it said, "Jesus won, Jesus won the election." 06:34 I don't think so. 06:38 Peace and prosperity, 06:41 they do not come 06:43 from the great coalition of church and state. 06:47 That was something that was anathema 06:50 to the founding fathers 06:52 of the United States of America. 06:54 Those people who advocate today, 06:57 a coalition, 06:59 a grand coalition of church and state 07:02 are going against everything 07:05 that America stands for or stood for. 07:09 May I take it a little further? 07:13 Healing, prosperity, peace, security, 07:16 greatness come from God, not from the White House. 07:20 Oh, now. 07:21 Not from the White House, not from the Senate, 07:24 not from the Congress, not from the Senate. 07:27 I say again, 07:29 not from the Republicans 07:34 or the Democrats, 07:36 or the independence or the socialists, 07:39 not even from, now wait for this, 07:43 not even from the great military might 07:48 of the United States of America. 07:51 Now it is a fact 07:52 that America has the greatest military might 07:57 in the history of the world. 07:59 But our greatness is not found in our aircraft carriers 08:04 or our soldiers. 08:07 Just remember this, 08:09 there are other countries like Russia 08:11 that have military might, 08:13 and if they were a nuclear war, we would all be destroyed. 08:18 So let us slow down, 08:19 let us not put our confidence in the might of man. 08:24 Greatness, my friend, greatness comes from God. 08:31 Now listen to this truth. 08:33 I wanted to sink down 08:35 into the molecules of your mind. 08:38 Greatness comes from God 08:41 because our nation's greatness 08:45 is in proportion to its goodness. 08:49 Oh, now. 08:51 Oh, now. 08:52 A nation's greatness is in proportion, 08:56 what does it say? 08:58 It says, it's in proportion to its goodness. 09:02 And if you want to make America great again, 09:06 which is an admirable ambition, 09:10 but if you want to make America great again, 09:13 you need to make America good again. 09:18 Now I'm going to turn to a couple of texts 09:20 in the Old Testament, another couple, 09:22 going to come over here to Isaiah Chapter 57. 09:26 I just love the Book of Isaiah. 09:28 It's one of my favorite books. 09:30 Isaiah 57. 09:32 Let me see now, verse 19 to 21. 09:36 Are you ready for this text? 09:38 Listen. 09:39 "I create the fruit of the lips: 09:42 God says, 'Peace, peace to him who is far off 09:46 and to him who is near, ' says the Lord, 09:48 'And I will heal him.' 09:50 But the wicked are like the troubled sea, 09:53 when it cannot rest, 09:55 whose waters cast up, listen, mire and dirt. 09:59 A filth. 10:01 'There is no peace, 'says my God, 'for the wicked.' 10:04 " My friend, if we break the laws of God, 10:06 if we turn away from the truth of the Bible, 10:09 then my friend there is nothing but darkness. 10:12 The Bible says there is no peace 10:14 says my God for the wicked. 10:16 Now I'm going to come over a little further 10:18 to Jeremiah Chapter 18. 10:23 Just give me a moment here. 10:25 Jeremiah 18:15 10:32 down to 17. 10:37 You ready? Here we go. 10:38 "Because My people have forgotten Me, 10:40 they have burned incense to worthless idols. 10:44 They have caused themselves to stumble in their ways, 10:49 from the ancient paths," 10:50 they've forgotten where they came from, 10:52 "to walk in pathways and not on a highway, 10:55 to make their land desolate and a perpetual hissing, 11:01 everyone who passes by it will be astonished 11:04 and shake his head. 11:06 I will scatter them as with an east wind 11:09 before the enemy, 11:10 I will show them the back and not the face 11:13 in the day of their calamity." 11:15 Goodness, what is it talking about? 11:17 Talking about the Jewish nation. 11:20 They were the chosen people of God. 11:22 They were the people whom God raised up 11:24 and to handle the land of Egypt. 11:26 But God said, "If you turn away from My ways, 11:29 and if you go the ways of wickedness, 11:32 then great desolation is going to come upon you." 11:35 Don't think that you are going to be saved, 11:37 because somehow you have a special corner 11:41 on God's favor. 11:43 It doesn't work that way, my friend. 11:48 Nation's greatness is tied up with its goodness. 11:53 Listen to this because this is controversial. 11:57 Here it comes. This is controversial. 11:59 Some of you are going to find this 12:01 very hard to believe, 12:02 but it's the truth. 12:03 So listen to it. 12:05 No nation, 12:06 however mighty is immune 12:08 to the growing sickness of the decay, 12:11 dissolution and death. 12:15 We sometimes think that, 12:16 you know, where, we are just blessed 12:18 and we can do anything we like. 12:22 When you go and read the story of the Bible, 12:25 and you come to the prophecy of Daniel, 12:27 there you have the great mythical man 12:30 and some of you know what I'm talking about. 12:33 We're talking here about the great dream 12:35 that was given to the Prophet Daniel 12:37 2,500 years ago, 12:39 that portrayed 12:40 the great nations of the world in advance. 12:44 Babylon, greatest power in its day, 12:48 they thought they're going to last forever. 12:50 But greatness is tied up with goodness 12:54 and Babylon never had the goodness. 12:56 Babylon went down, followed by Medo-Persia, 12:59 followed by Greece, followed by Rome, 13:01 they all had their moment in the sun. 13:06 And they thought 13:07 they were going to last forever, 13:10 a little bit like us today 13:13 in the United States of America. 13:15 Then you had the kingdoms of Europe. 13:18 They had their moment in the sun. 13:20 And then you have the greatest empire 13:23 the world has ever seen. 13:25 You say, "Oh, well, that was Rome." 13:27 No, it wasn't the Roman Empire. 13:28 It was the British Empire, 13:31 land of hope and glory. 13:35 I was brought up on this. 13:37 I can remember as a kid 13:38 going along to school in Brisbane, 13:42 the teacher would put up a map on the wall and say, 13:45 "Look at all the red parts, we own that." 13:50 That was a lot of the world. 13:53 But what went wrong? 13:56 Land of hope and glory, mother of the free, 13:59 land of the great reformation, 14:02 land of truth and goodness 14:05 with the greatest empire in the world, 14:07 what went wrong? 14:09 Well, not waiting to be too offensive. 14:15 But let me tell you this. 14:17 What's happened to England today? 14:18 Well, they've got a prime minister, 14:22 who seems to flout all of the laws. 14:27 Hey, 14:32 he leaves the nation, 14:36 openly he has committed adultery. 14:39 You say, "Now is this true?" Yes, of course, it's true. 14:41 Everybody knows it. 14:43 A child out of wedlock, 14:45 and we wonder why England has lost 14:48 its resilience and its power. 14:52 Did you know this? 14:54 Desolation is, 14:55 because this is sort of amazing. 14:58 More Muslims go to the mosque today in Great Britain 15:04 than Christians go to church. 15:08 Did you hear this? 15:09 More Muslims go to their place of worship, 15:11 they go to the mosque on Friday 15:14 than Christians go to church on the weekend. 15:18 If you want to see 15:19 some of the biggest mosques in the world, 15:21 go to this land here. 15:24 There's something went wrong, 15:26 my people of the Bible says have committed this great sin. 15:29 They've turned away from me, 15:31 and they've made themselves cisterns 15:33 that can hold no water. 15:35 The water of goodness have flown away. 15:39 Listen to the words of Lord Tennyson, 15:43 one of my favorite authors, he said, 15:45 "Our little systems have their day, 15:49 they have their day and cease to be: 15:53 they are but broken lights of thee, 15:57 and thou, O Lord, art more than they." 16:02 But somehow we've got it into our brains 16:06 that we can do anything we like, 16:08 and we can enjoy the blessing of God. 16:10 It's not true. 16:15 Every nation has had its moment in the sun. 16:19 Great Britain was great, great. 16:22 Great Britain was when she had faith in God 16:26 and followed the Bible. 16:30 But the greatness today has gone. 16:35 Now you all know about Dr. Ben Carson, 16:37 don't you? 16:39 He's a member of the cabinet. 16:42 Dr. Ben Carson, I saw him some years ago, 16:45 he attended a prayer breakfast in Washington. 16:50 He was asked to be the keynote speaker. 16:53 President Obama was sitting there 16:55 and other people from the White House. 16:59 And this famous surgeon had the audacity, 17:05 some would say, 17:06 the courage to get up 17:08 and tell the President of the United States of America 17:12 that we were walking 17:14 in the footsteps of the old Roman Empire. 17:18 Hey, he caused a stir. 17:21 I can remember the people looking at him. 17:23 Well watch this guy. 17:25 What a nerve he's got to say 17:28 that we are walking 17:30 in the footsteps of the Roman Empire 17:33 because Dr. Carson knew 17:36 that greatness is tied up with goodness, you see. 17:41 And I've got a feeling that Dr. Carson had in his mind 17:45 some rather unpalatable facts. 17:49 He had in mind 17:50 I think the millions of unborn babies slaughtered. 17:57 The idea that marriage is no longer marriage 18:00 between a man and a woman. 18:03 And we could add the exploitation of the poor, 18:07 the crime in our great cities, the looting, the lawlessness, 18:13 the terrible immorality, the porn industry, 18:18 the corruption in high places, 18:21 the lying and the cheating. 18:25 Lying today has become 18:27 an acceptable means of communication, 18:30 but the Bible teaches very, very plainly 18:33 in the Book of Revelation 18:36 that liars will not go into the kingdom of God, 18:39 but they will go into the fires of hell. 18:41 You can read that in the last book of the Bible, 18:43 Revelation Chapter 22, 18:45 the last chapter of the last book. 18:48 And remember these words, 18:51 Dr. Carson may have had these words in mind too, 18:54 the words of the great Thomas Jefferson. 18:56 I just admire 18:58 the founding fathers of this great nation. 19:01 I wish they were alive today to speak truth to power. 19:08 God is just: 19:10 that His justice cannot sleep forever. 19:14 He said, said Jefferson, 19:17 He said, "I am moved in my soul 19:21 when I think that God is just 19:24 and justice cannot sleep for forever." 19:29 So Ben Carson said 19:30 that we're walking 19:31 in the footsteps of the old Roman Empire. 19:34 I wonder what he'd say today. 19:36 I don't think 19:37 he would have changed his sermon. 19:39 I believe, unfortunately, today 19:42 that many are looking to Washington for salvation. 19:46 And here in California, they're looking to Sacramento, 19:49 in Texas, they're looking down to Austin 19:51 or some other provincial capital. 19:55 We expect that some politician is going to arise 20:00 and that politician is going to save America. 20:04 Dream on. 20:06 Greatness comes from God. 20:10 And greatness is tied up with goodness. 20:14 There is no greatness 20:16 without a spiritual rebirth. 20:22 I want to read a couple of more texts 20:23 here in the Book of Isaiah, if you don't mind. 20:26 Going to come over Isaiah Chapter 47, 20:31 just give me a moment here to find these texts, 20:34 Isaiah 47:13-14. 20:41 These are the words of the Prophet Isaiah. 20:46 "You are wearied 20:47 in the multitude of your counsels." 20:49 Talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, don't you get sick of it? 20:52 "Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, 20:57 and the monthly prognosticators, " 21:00 it's a nice word, isn't it? 21:01 "Prognosticators to stand up and save you 21:05 from what shall come upon you. 21:07 Behold, they shall be as stubble, 21:11 the fire shall burn them, 21:13 they shall not deliver themselves 21:15 from the power of the flame, 21:17 it shall not be a coal to be warmed by, 21:21 nor a fire to sit before!" 21:22 If people think 21:24 that these people are going to save you, 21:29 you going to be very, very disappointed 21:31 because the Bible says salvation is found in God. 21:35 And Isaiah 48:18-19, 21:40 dear hearts and gentle people, listen to this. 21:44 "Oh, that you had heeded My commandments! 21:48 Then your peace would have been like a river, 21:50 and your righteousness like the waves of the sea. 21:54 Your descendants 21:55 also would have been like the sand, 21:57 and the offspring of your body like the grains of sand. 22:01 His name would not have been cut off, 22:03 nor destroyed from before Me." 22:07 Jerusalem was destroyed and went down 22:10 because they turned away from God 22:12 and from His commandments. 22:15 Now, as you folks know, you know me a little bit. 22:20 You know, I'm not a member of any political party. 22:24 People say, "Oh, no, you got." 22:25 No, no, no. 22:27 I believe in thinking for myself. 22:31 Now, I'm not trying to be offensive to any person 22:34 who belongs to a political party, 22:36 but I want to tell you this. 22:38 I don't want you to be offended, 22:40 but here it is from my heart to yours, 22:42 if you can take it. 22:45 Salvation is not found in any of these parties. 22:49 Salvation is found 22:51 in the Lord Jesus Christ, 22:57 who gave us His commandments. 22:59 Remember, 23:01 greatness and goodness are tied up together. 23:05 Yes, I believe, make America great again. 23:09 But I say to you, 23:10 make America good again 23:11 because you can't make America great 23:14 until America has a spiritual rebirth. 23:21 Just remember again. 23:24 The lady I saw driving the car 23:25 after a federal election some years back. 23:31 She thought salvation came from Washington. 23:34 She got it all wrong. 23:36 So she had the big sign up, 23:39 "Jesus won, Jesus won." 23:43 My friend, Jesus... 23:49 Listen, this is so, so important. 23:52 I never say it slow. 23:54 And I don't want to offend you, but here it is, it's the truth. 23:58 God is not an American. 24:01 Wow now. 24:03 God is not an American. 24:05 He's not a Republican, or He's not a Democrat. 24:11 He's not an independent. 24:14 He is not a socialist. 24:16 He is not a member of any political party. 24:19 Jesus, listen brother, sister, 24:23 Jesus did not belong to any political party. 24:26 Oh, no.
