00:02 I'm John Carter in Moscow.
00:04 In Havana, Cuba.
00:07 Now in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine.
00:10 I'm John Carter in Petra.
00:13 Right here in Communist China.
00:16 Reporting from India.
00:18 Hi, I'm John Carter in the Solomon Islands.
00:21 I'm John Carter in Soweto.
00:24 From El Salvador.
00:26 I'm John Carter in Sydney, Australia.
00:29 Join us with Questions and Answers
00:32 with Pastor John Carter.
00:36 Hi, friend. I'm John Carter.
00:39 Welcome to the Carter Report.
00:41 We have an empty studio here today because of COVID-19,
00:45 which is raging across America.
00:48 But we're carrying on
00:50 because we've got a message to teach and to preach.
00:54 Today, I'm going to answer
00:55 some of the questions you've been sending to me
00:57 and we are honored to have
00:59 a very special person today in our studio,
01:03 Wayne Hackett,
01:04 you will hear his voice
01:06 right across these great United States of America.
01:09 And so, Wayne, we're glad to have you with us today.
01:12 And we're glad to have you, dear friend, with us.
01:15 We're so glad that you joined us.
01:18 Wayne, the first question, my brother.
01:21 Is there hope for wicked people?
01:23 Well, I sure hope so.
01:27 Because the Bible tells us that God justifies the ungodly.
01:32 You read that...
01:33 Let me think now, that's in Romans Chapter 4.
01:36 It says that God justifies the ungodly.
01:40 And so ultimately, we are all sinners
01:44 and we are all ungodly.
01:47 And we all need the redemptive power of Christ.
01:50 We need the blood of Christ.
01:52 Let me talk just a moment
01:53 about some of the most ungodly people.
01:56 There was Nebuchadnezzar.
01:59 What a scoundrel was Nebuchadnezzar!
02:02 He was one of the world's greatest egotist.
02:05 He was going to make Babylon the greatest kingdom
02:09 that the world had ever seen.
02:11 And he said, "There's no this great Babylon
02:13 that I have built."
02:15 God brought him low,
02:16 but then he became a born-again trusting child of God.
02:22 If God can save Nebuchadnezzar, brother, He can save you.
02:26 What about Saul of Tarsus?
02:28 The person who wrote
02:30 just about half of the New Testament,
02:32 the great theologian of the Bible,
02:35 the great Apostle Paul, Saul of Tarsus,
02:38 who had his hands
02:41 dripping with the blood of the saints.
02:45 If God can save Saul, He can save you and me.
02:49 What about Peter the fisherman?
02:53 Peter the fisherman who was full of self-confidence
02:56 and ended up denying a Lord of glories,
02:59 said, "I don't know the Man."
03:02 But Jesus saved him.
03:04 If He saved him, He can save you
03:06 just as He saved King David.
03:08 Heard of King David?
03:10 David was an adulterer.
03:14 You know, he'd be in good company today,
03:16 wouldn't he,
03:17 because there are plenty of adulterers
03:19 in adulteresses.
03:21 So He saved David, you know,
03:24 He saved this man who was a great sinner.
03:27 So great a sinner
03:28 that he murdered Uriah the Hittite.
03:31 So if God can save those people,
03:33 He can save you.
03:35 He can save me,
03:36 just like He saved my friend Ildar
03:40 over there in Russia.
03:42 A man who is a leader of the mafia.
03:45 We've got his picture up here,
03:47 but we've got to camouflage
03:48 so that you can never see his face.
03:52 But he was a man who had a gang, not a gang.
03:56 He had an army under him,
03:58 400 or 500 men armed to the teeth.
04:02 He told me of some of the things
04:04 that he has done,
04:05 but God saved him.
04:07 He came to Christ,
04:09 and he was saved by the blood of Christ.
04:12 I'm here today to tell you
04:13 that no person is too bad for God
04:17 because with sin did abound,
04:21 grace did much more abound.
04:23 Thank you, Wayne.
04:25 Is there a heaven?
04:27 Well, as I said before, I certainly hope so.
04:30 Yes, there is.
04:31 Of course there's a heaven.
04:34 We were made by the Almighty God.
04:36 We believe in the great act of creation.
04:39 Don't you believe this?
04:41 We believe in the Almighty God who created the universe.
04:46 And we believe that this Almighty God
04:49 became a man
04:50 and came down in the person of our Lord Jesus Christ.
04:57 How amazing is this.
04:59 And there was the man
05:01 hanging on the cross beside Him,
05:04 and he repented and he said, "Lord, remember me,
05:09 when You come into Your kingdom."
05:11 This was the power of God at work.
05:14 This was grace at work.
05:16 And Jesus said, "Truly I say to you, today,
05:20 you shall be with Me in paradise."
05:24 Jesus believed in paradise.
05:27 He believed in a father's house by the grace of God.
05:31 I'm going to go there, will you come with me?
05:34 Yes, my friend.
05:36 There is a heaven.
05:40 How do you cope
05:41 when things seem so dark around you?
05:44 When loved ones and friends
05:46 are suffering and dying of COVID-19?
05:49 It's tough.
05:51 Of course it's tough.
05:53 If people say, "You know, what's happening
05:55 doesn't concern me at all,"
05:57 they've got to have hearts of avine.
06:00 But if you've got a heart of flesh,
06:02 you're going to feel concerned
06:03 for the tens of thousands of people
06:07 right here in this part of the world
06:09 who are dying all around us.
06:14 You know, sometimes I almost feel overwhelmed
06:17 by the sorrow and the suffering
06:19 that these people are going through,
06:22 the tens of thousands of Americans,
06:25 but, my friend, I'll tell you what I do.
06:28 By the grace of God,
06:30 I take hold of an unseen power
06:35 because I refuse to give
06:38 into doubt and to despair.
06:42 And that is why I like to talk hope.
06:46 I like to talk faith
06:47 and I take hold of the power of God.
06:51 Look at Acts 2:25.
06:54 And you should memorize these texts.
06:56 Don't be a lazy Christian.
06:59 Acts 2, "For David says concerning Him,
07:04 'I foresaw the Lord always before my face,
07:09 For He is at my right hand,
07:12 that I may not be shaken.'"
07:16 And if I get a vision of Christ,
07:20 the Almighty God,
07:22 and if I can see Him in my mind's eye,
07:25 I tell you, my friend, nothing is going to shake me.
07:31 And there's something else that I do too.
07:33 I do this quite often now.
07:35 I turn over here to the book of Romans
07:40 by the great St. Paul, and I read these texts.
07:46 I commend them to you.
07:49 Romans 8:28
07:53 and we know that all things work together for good
07:58 to those who love God,
07:59 to those who are the called according to His purpose.
08:04 I am not alone. I am not forsaken.
08:08 And God has a plan and a purpose for my life.
08:12 He's got a plan and a purpose for you too.
08:15 Read your Bible and discover it.
08:18 And then I look at verse 31,
08:25 "What then shall we say to these things?
08:27 If God is for us, who can be against us?"
08:33 Then we're going to come to, I think, verse, here it is.
08:38 Verse 37,
08:40 "What then shall we say to these things?
08:42 If God is for us, who can be against us?
08:45 Yet in all these things,
08:47 we are more than conquerors
08:50 through Him who loved us."
08:54 And that just...
08:55 Listen to this,
08:56 this is almost too good to be true,
08:58 "For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life,
09:01 nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present,
09:07 nor things to come, nor height, nor depth,
09:10 nor any other created thing shall be able to separate us
09:14 from the love of God,
09:15 which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
09:21 Just amazing. Nothing can separate you.
09:24 Not COVID-19, not death, not cancer, not sickness.
09:31 None of those things can separate us
09:34 from the love of God.
09:35 So we are never, never alone.
09:38 We are never forsaken.
09:43 How bad is this pandemic?
09:47 Wayne, it's bad.
09:51 Dr. Fauci is one of the world's greatest scientists.
09:57 He's tremendously popular
10:01 among the medical fraternity
10:04 here in the United States.
10:07 And he said just a day or two back
10:10 that this had become his worst nightmare.
10:16 And he said we were in the midst
10:18 of a perfect storm.
10:21 And people are telling you something different, my friend.
10:25 It's because as I used to say, they've got an axe to grind.
10:31 And they don't want you to know the facts.
10:35 Now it is killing tens of thousands
10:38 here in the USA
10:40 where the disease is almost out of control.
10:46 Would you please look at this,
10:48 look at the graph going back to March,
10:51 and then after April,
10:53 and then it came down a bit in May and in June.
10:57 Did you know that there are some countries
11:00 that have the same type of lifestyle
11:02 that we have
11:04 that are doing 100 times better.
11:07 You say, "No, I can't believe it.
11:09 Can't believe that."
11:10 Yes, there are some countries
11:12 that have a per capita, a death rate,
11:16 only 1% of what we've got here.
11:18 And if you look over here at the graph, my friend,
11:23 look, look at it there.
11:24 It is going up like a rocket.
11:31 And so we need to take it seriously.
11:36 We can multiply the official infection rate
11:39 by at least 10 I am told, maybe 20.
11:44 Probably more than 30 million are infected here.
11:48 Maybe double that number.
11:50 It appears to be getting worse.
11:53 LA is not going to open their schools,
11:59 but I want you to know that, as a Christian,
12:02 I have my faith in God.
12:05 And I believe that God is working
12:08 old things for my good and for His glory,
12:13 therefore, I shall not despair.
12:18 But I shall live in hope.
12:21 Wayne.
12:22 Are you afraid?
12:25 Am I afraid?
12:29 No, I'm not afraid because I trust in God.
12:32 Am I concerned?
12:33 Of course I am.
12:34 If I were not concerned,
12:38 I would be in denial of reality.
12:45 Some people say, "Oh, no, no, nothing,
12:48 my friend, I refuse to deny reality."
12:52 That's a psychological condition
12:54 when we're in a state of denial,
12:57 but I'm trusting in Jesus because I believe the gospel.
13:02 So I'm not afraid.
13:03 No, I'm not.
13:04 I'm not scared.
13:06 I'm trusting in Jesus.
13:07 Here's a text 1 John 5:11 and 12.
13:11 1 John 5:11 and 12.
13:14 This is the testimony that God has given to us.
13:17 What does it say?
13:19 Eternal life.
13:21 And this life is in His Son, "He who has the Son has life,
13:25 he who does not have the Son of God
13:27 does not have life."
13:29 If you have Christ.
13:31 Now I'm not talking just about religion.
13:34 Too much religion in the world, don't you think?
13:37 You know, this manmade stuff, which is all a lot of sham,
13:41 you know, just a lot of hot air.
13:44 But I'm talking about the real stuff.
13:47 I'm talking about the real McCoy.
13:49 I'm talking about, as I'd say in Australia,
13:53 that would just dinky-di.
13:57 We're talking about the genuine product.
13:59 Are you listening to me?
14:01 And if you have Christ, but more importantly,
14:04 if Christ has you, and are you trusting in Christ,
14:08 and if you've gone to Christ,
14:10 and you have confessed your sins,
14:12 you have repented of your sins.
14:15 And if you have received the gift of everlasting life,
14:19 you will not be afraid.
14:21 Listen to this,
14:23 the worst the devil can do to us
14:25 is to give us a little sleep.
14:27 But Christ is coming in the morning,
14:30 and just as Christ raised Lazarus from the dead,
14:35 so He's going to raise His saints from the dead,
14:39 and we are going to live forever
14:43 with Christ in paradise.
14:45 If that doesn't make you feel like jumping over the moon,
14:49 you ought to check your pulse.
14:51 That's the greatest news that Christ is alive
14:54 and Christ is coming back.
14:58 Can we stop this terrible pandemic?
15:01 Wayne, you're asking some great questions,
15:03 you know, I don't know if I'm capable of answering
15:05 all these great questions.
15:07 But let me give you a run through
15:10 if you don't mind
15:12 'cause this is pretty important.
15:15 I believe we can stop this pandemic
15:17 because some countries have done remarkably well.
15:20 They've done far better than we have.
15:23 And there must be a reason.
15:25 And I think it's because
15:28 even though the doctors are doing a fantastic job,
15:31 and the nurses are doing a fantastic job,
15:34 I think some of us as individuals
15:37 are letting down the team side.
15:40 Some countries, I say it again,
15:42 some countries that are as rich as America
15:46 have done much better than we
15:48 in controlling the deadly virus.
15:51 That's a bitter pill to swallow,
15:53 but you and I better swallow it.
15:55 One country I know very well has had up to now per capita,
16:00 a death rate, a hundred times less than here in America.
16:06 So we must...
16:08 We've got great doctors.
16:10 We've got great scientists.
16:12 But you see,
16:14 the coronavirus doesn't belong
16:16 to any particular political party.
16:21 No, no, no.
16:23 It doesn't read the news bulletins,
16:26 and it is not brainwashed.
16:28 Okay, what can we do?
16:32 Here it is.
16:33 "Love your neighbor as yourself."
16:37 That's what it says in the Old Testament.
16:41 And that's what Jesus said
16:43 you got to love your neighbor as yourself.
16:46 Just have a look at this if you can better look at this.
16:50 I mean, this is totally disgusting.
16:53 Here is a person.
16:56 I'm going to bring it here, here it is, here it is,
16:59 here it is.
17:00 He's holding up a sign and he says,
17:03 "Selfish and proud."
17:05 Hey, you know what he needs?
17:08 He needs to be born again.
17:10 He needs to become a Christian.
17:12 I'm talking about not just a church guy.
17:15 I'm talking about a Christian.
17:16 He says, "I'm selfish, and I'm proud,
17:20 and I'll do what I like.
17:22 And if you don't like it, too bad for you."
17:25 Jesus said,
17:27 "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
17:30 Listen.
17:32 If we obey these words, we will beat the pandemic.
17:35 That is a promise, that is the truth,
17:38 that is the sure word today.
17:40 If you obey those words,
17:43 together we will beat the pandemic
17:46 if we love our neighbors as ourselves.
17:49 The problem is today
17:50 here in this great land of the United States of America
17:52 is that we've got away from Christ
17:55 and we've got away from the Bible
17:56 and has come after tremendous dumbing down
18:00 and people are talking about religion
18:01 and they know nothing about God.
18:04 Think of the nurses and the doctors,
18:08 the great heroes.
18:09 Has America got heroes?
18:11 Yeah, terrific heroes.
18:13 You want to see the great heroes?
18:14 Go to the hospitals.
18:16 They're the great heroes.
18:17 These are the people who are putting their lives
18:19 on the line.
18:20 You know what we need in this country?
18:22 Well, we got the Statue of Liberty
18:24 over in New York.
18:26 But, you know, in San Francisco or Los Angeles,
18:29 on the Western coast,
18:32 we need the statue of responsibility.
18:37 Are you still listening?
18:40 America's got the Statue of Liberty,
18:43 we need it all, and I'm all for that.
18:45 But we need not only the Statue of Liberty,
18:48 we need the statue of responsibility.
18:54 But some of us have become lawless,
18:57 and there's a spirit of lawlessness
18:59 in the land today, lawlessness,
19:03 "I do just what I want to do."
19:07 Jesus said,
19:08 "You shall love your neighbors as yourself."
19:10 Jesus said these words.
19:13 And if we obey His words, we will beat this pandemic.
19:16 It's not about me but about my neighbors,
19:20 my family, my friends, my parents,
19:23 the man with the big sign.
19:24 "I'm selfish, I'm proud,"
19:27 hey, go to God.
19:30 Talk to God about this one.
19:32 We need to think of the nurses, the doctors,
19:35 the essential workers.
19:39 And of course, if we do this,
19:44 we're going to wear a mask.
19:46 "Oh, no, that's against my freedom!"
19:49 Hey, what about your responsibility,
19:53 the Statue of Liberty
19:54 and the statue of responsibility?
19:57 It's not just about you, brother.
20:00 "I'm selfish, I'm proud."
20:02 Well, don't expect to go to heaven
20:03 if you're selfish and you're proud.
20:04 "You know, I can go to heaven do anything."
20:06 No, you can't.
20:10 Jesus said, "Love your neighbor."
20:13 And if you don't like wearing a mask,
20:15 just remember this,
20:17 it's easier to wear a mask than to wear a respirator.
20:22 Hear this?
20:24 If you won't wear a mask, recognize this,
20:27 it's a lot easier to wear a mask
20:29 than to wear a respirator.
20:32 Practice safe distancing.
20:34 COVID-19 apparently is spread by aerosols.
20:38 It's spread through talking,
20:40 especially singing and shouting.
20:44 Some people say, you know, "I'm a Christian,
20:46 I can do what I like
20:48 and God is going to take care of me."
20:52 That's not faith. That's presumption.
20:54 A lot of people like,
20:56 "Well, what do you mean?"
20:57 "If I'm under the blood of Jesus,
20:59 I can do what I like."
21:01 My friend, you don't really understand
21:02 what Christianity is all about.
21:06 There's a great old hymn, "Trust and Obey."
21:08 We need to trust God
21:09 and then we need to be responsible
21:12 and we need to obey God.
21:14 Is this too strong for you?
21:17 Because I'm not going to water it down.
21:19 I'm getting tired of these terrible news reports
21:22 where people are dying.
21:24 We need to keep away from parties,
21:26 yeah, and from congregations, and from gatherings.
21:31 "Oh, my living..."
21:33 No, your responsibility,
21:36 and stay home if you're over 65.
21:40 The older you are, the higher the mortality rate.
21:44 But did you hear the 103-year-old lady
21:47 who survived?
21:48 She never gave up hope.
21:52 So while you're alive, there's hope, you see?
21:58 So don't give up hope.
21:59 Talk hope. Don't get depressed.
22:02 Read the words of scripture.
22:04 Practice what you say you believe.
22:07 Wash your hands frequently
22:08 because the coronavirus hates hot soapy water.
22:14 And be filled with positive thoughts.
22:17 Oh, let me talk about this.
22:18 Be hopeful, be joyful.
22:21 Nothing can separate me from the love of God.
22:24 Listen, I'm gonna tell you a story.
22:28 The German soldiers on the Russian front,
22:34 some of them, these German soldiers
22:36 received awful wounds
22:38 that would normally kill a person,
22:41 and some received minor wounds.
22:43 But you know what happened?
22:45 The ones who had received the minor wounds
22:48 were the ones who were dying like flies,
22:51 but the ones with the major wound survived.
22:54 Why did they survive?
22:55 Because if you got a major wound,
23:00 you are going to go home to your family.
23:04 People with major wounds, got hope,
23:08 and hope saved the soldiers.
23:12 I'm here to talk hope.
23:14 This thing is not going to beat us.
23:17 You hear what I'm saying?
23:19 This thing ain't going to beat us,
23:23 pardon the English.
23:24 It is not going to beat us
23:27 because we're going to talk hope.
23:29 We're going to talk faith.
23:31 We're going to believe that was God.
23:34 We shall overcome one day and by the grace of God,
23:39 we are going to beat this demon from hell
23:43 and we are going to keep hope alive.
23:48 What has been the greatest motivation
23:50 in your life?
23:57 The greatest motivation in my life.
24:02 The greatest motivation in my life has been a sense...
24:07 And I want to say this to everybody today,
24:10 I say it 'cause I love you and I care for you
24:13 and God loves you.
24:15 The greatest motivation has been the realization
24:20 that Almighty God knows me.
24:24 He knows John Carter, yeah.
24:26 He said even the hairs on your head,
24:29 all those hairs, they are counted.
24:31 I've got a few more these days
24:32 seeing I've been in splendid isolation.
24:36 I can't go to a hairdresser.
24:38 Who cares, this is growing.
24:40 I'm saving money on getting my haircut.
24:44 God knows about me.
24:46 And God has got a purpose for my life.
24:51 Are you listening to me?
24:53 God has got a purpose for your life.
24:55 You're not just something nothing.
24:57 You are a child of God.
25:01 I think I've got a text here.
25:02 I'm going to read it to you.
25:04 It's out of the Book of Hebrews.
25:06 I just love this.
25:07 Hebrews 13:5 and 6.
25:12 "For He Himself has said," this is God talking,
25:16 "'I will never leave you nor forsake you.'
25:20 So we may boldly say, 'The LORD is my helper,
25:24 I will not fear.
25:26 What can man do to me?' "
25:27 I will not fear
25:29 what the coronavirus can do to me
25:32 because God knows me, God sees me.
25:37 He counts the hairs on my head, He knows my family.
25:40 He knows everything about me.
25:42 Christ died for me.
25:46 He has a plan and a purpose for me.
25:49 He has a plan and a purpose for you.
25:52 Believe it, my brother, my sister.
25:56 And by the grace of God,
25:57 with this hope burning in our hearts,
26:02 here's the promise.
26:03 Here is the Word of the Lord for you today, by God's grace,
26:09 we shall overcome
26:13 and we shall be victorious.
26:18 In Jesus' mighty name, amen.
26:26 To our police,
26:29 to those who serve and protect us with mercy,
26:32 love, dignity, compassion, and honor,
26:37 may God bless you.
26:39 Each day there is no task that is too large,
26:42 no task too small.
26:45 You take the slings and arrows
26:47 that come your way with courage.
26:50 The badge you wear
26:51 makes you part of a bigger team.
26:53 But we know you are each unique in God's eyes.
26:57 You are individual human beings of a police force.
27:02 The greatest force is God's love.
27:05 There is no one
27:06 who has not experienced that love
27:08 when you come to their aid.
27:10 We are grateful.
27:11 We know you need our help.
27:13 Working together, we can live in harmony.
27:16 We pray for the safety of our homes,
27:18 for our neighbors,
27:20 and for the police that protect and serve our community.
