00:04 In Havana, Cuba. 00:07 Now in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. 00:10 I'm John Carter in Petra. 00:13 Right here in Communist China. 00:16 Reporting from India. 00:18 Hi, I'm John Carter in the Solomon Islands. 00:21 I'm John Carter in Soweto. 00:24 From El Salvador. 00:26 I'm John Carter in Sydney, Australia. 00:30 John Carter finds a solution to insanity. 00:36 Welcome back. 00:38 This is the second part of the series, 00:39 "A Solution to Insanity." 00:44 Now, made this point in the last talk, 00:47 going to pick it up now. 00:49 Christ had a conflict with the Pharisees 00:52 over the Sabbath, not whether it should be kept, 00:58 but how it should be kept. 01:00 Because the Pharisees just didn't get it 01:03 because all they had was manmade religion. 01:05 But Jesus taught that that Sabbath, 01:08 the rest day was the symbol of the rest 01:11 that the gospel brings into our hearts. 01:14 Now I want you to take your Bibles 01:16 and turn to Luke 4:16-19, 01:20 because the Bible says that 01:22 Jesus announced His mission of redemption 01:27 on the Sabbath. 01:29 So this is very appropriate. 01:30 Luke Chapter 4, "So he came to Nazareth, 01:32 where He had been brought up. 01:35 And as His custom was, 01:36 He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, 01:40 Jesus went to church on the Sabbath, 01:43 and stood up to read. 01:45 He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. 01:48 And when He had opened the book, 01:49 He found the place where it was written: 01:51 'The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, 01:53 because He has anointed Me 01:55 to preach the gospel to the poor. 01:59 He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, 02:02 to reclaim liberty to the captives 02:05 and recovery of sight to the blind, 02:08 to set at liberty those who are oppressed, 02:11 to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.'" 02:15 This is talking about the ministry of Christ. 02:18 And He made this tremendous 02:20 announcement on the Sabbath day, 02:22 because this is really the heart of the Sabbath. 02:27 The Sabbath is the symbol of the gospel. 02:30 It is a day of liberty. 02:33 Jesus performed, we're told in the scriptures 02:37 seven miracles on the Sabbath. 02:39 How many miracles? 02:41 Seven miracles on the Sabbath. 02:43 Seven is a perfect number in the scriptures. 02:46 It is a number of completion. 02:48 And for these Sabbath miracles, this is not been noted by many. 02:53 Jesus was hounded, persecuted and finally murdered 02:59 by the custodians of the law, 03:01 the holy ones, the religious leaders. 03:05 Jesus had an issue with the Pharisees, 03:09 not about the sacredness of the Sabbath, 03:13 but about its ultimate meaning. 03:17 Now Jesus kept the Sabbath as God intended, 03:21 not as the religious people said He should have kept it. 03:24 Seven Sabbath miracles. 03:26 Seven is the number of perfection. 03:29 And this happened to draw our attention 03:31 to the significance of the Sabbath. 03:33 The first one is the man with the evil spirit, 03:37 the man who is a crazy man. 03:39 Now if you turn in your Bibles to Mark1:21-25, 03:45 this was in a Sabbath meeting in the local synagogue. 03:49 Mark1:21-25, 03:54 "Then they went into Capernaum and immediately on the Sabbath 03:57 He entered the synagogue," 03:59 hey, Jesus going to church on the Sabbath, 04:02 "and taught and they were astonished 04:04 at His teaching, 04:06 for He taught them as one having authority, 04:08 not as the scribes," they're so boring. 04:12 "Now there was a man in their synagogue 04:14 with an unclean spirit, crazy man. 04:17 He cried out, saying, 'Let us alone! 04:20 What have you to do with us? 04:22 What have we to do with you, Jesus of Nazareth? 04:25 Did You come to destroy us? 04:27 I know who You are, the Holy One of God!' 04:30 But Jesus rebuked him saying, 04:32 'Be quiet and come out of him.'" 04:35 And the man was no longer crazy. 04:37 Because the Bible says, 04:39 the evil spirit came out 04:41 and this happened on the Sabbath. 04:44 Listen, from insanity to sanity. 04:48 The Jewish leaders never ever got it. 04:51 They never understood 04:52 the real meaning of the Sabbath, 04:53 even though they talked about 04:55 the Sabbath more than anything else. 04:56 They thought it was only a set of rules. 04:58 Jesus was saying, 05:00 now I want every person here to hear this. 05:02 The Sabbath is all about the healing of body, 05:05 mind and spirit. 05:07 It is a good day. 05:09 It is a great day. 05:10 It is the day of liberation. 05:12 It is a happy day, a healing day. 05:15 It is a joyous day. 05:18 And so Jesus performed these miracles 05:21 on the Sabbath to teach the people 05:24 that the Sabbath 05:25 is the greatest day in the week. 05:27 That is why He performed miracles on the Sabbath. 05:30 Now turn fast with me to Mark 2:27. 05:38 And I'm going to put it up on the screen 05:40 in the New Living Translation. 05:41 Just get a load of this, folks. 05:44 "Then Jesus said to them, 05:47 'The Sabbath was made 05:48 to meet the needs of people...'" 05:51 Look at that. 05:52 "The Sabbath was made to meet the needs of people 05:56 and not people to meet 05:58 the requirements of the Sabbath.'" 06:02 And so the Sabbath 06:03 was given as a day of liberation, 06:05 a day of deliverance, a day of joy, 06:09 not a day of doom and gloom. 06:12 It was a special time for healing. 06:15 And so He starts out by taking a man 06:17 who's got a crazy spirit, 06:19 and He makes him into a sane person. 06:21 Then there's a man 06:23 with a deformed twisted up hand. 06:26 You can read this in Mark Chapter 3, 06:28 Mark 3:1-4, 06:33 "And He entered the synagogue again, 06:35 and a man was there who had a withered hand. 06:38 So they watched Him closely, whether He would heal him 06:40 on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse Him." 06:43 I mean, how crazy can you get? 06:46 This is religious craziness. 06:48 "He said to the man 06:50 who had the withered hand, 'Step forward.' 06:52 Then he said to them, 06:53 'Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do 06:56 evil to save life or to kill?' 06:59 But they kept silent.'" 07:01 Now, Jesus heals this man, this man... 07:06 One man was crazy man. 07:09 One man who's got a twisted up arm. 07:12 You know what this is teaching? 07:15 Without Christ we're crazy or we're twisted up. 07:19 And so Jesus heals him on the Sabbath day 07:23 because it's the Liberation Day. 07:25 They didn't get it. What was their reaction? 07:27 Look at verse 6, Mark 3:6, 07:32 "Then the Pharisees went out and immediately plotted 07:35 with the Herodians against Him, how they might," what? 07:38 "Kill Him." 07:40 They're gonna destroy Him. They want to kill Him. 07:42 He's healing people. 07:43 He's saving people's lives, 07:45 but they are so spiritually dumb, 07:49 they don't get it. 07:51 I want you to know this. 07:53 The greatest curse 07:54 in the world is manmade religion 08:00 that makes up its own rules 08:04 and consequently puts Christ on the cross. 08:09 When Jesus was in the Sabbath, 08:12 it was a potent healing force in the world. 08:15 God's creative power takes away our twisted hands. 08:19 We need His power in our lives. 08:22 Look at the word disease. 08:24 Ever looked at it this way, disease, disease, look at it. 08:29 You know what it is? dis ease. 08:33 When you take ease, the Sabbath out of our hearts, 08:37 the rest of the gospel, we become diseased. 08:43 That's why we're having school shootings. 08:45 That's why there are so many drugs, 08:50 because the gospel has gone away. 08:54 Then look at Matthew 12:1-2, please. 08:57 Matthew 12:1-2, 08:58 "At that time Jesus went through 09:00 the grainfields on the Sabbath. 09:01 His disciples were hungry 09:03 and began to pluck heads of grain and to eat. 09:06 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to Him, 'Look, 09:08 Your disciples are doing 09:09 what is not awful to do on the Sabbath.'" 09:13 You know, always criticizing 09:16 because they never ever got it. 09:19 The religious leaders 09:20 whose focus was on the performance 09:23 of certain acts never got it. 09:27 But they were good into acts and into this context, 09:30 in the same context as plucking the grain. 09:36 In the same context, you got Matthew 11:28-30. 09:39 It's right there. 09:41 In the same context, Jesus said, 09:43 "Come to Me, 09:44 all you who labor and are heavy laden, 09:46 and I will give you Sabbath. 09:49 I will give you rest." 09:50 I will give you ease. 09:52 "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, 09:54 for I am gentle, lowly in heart, 09:57 and you will find rest, 09:58 you'll find Sabbath for your souls. 10:00 For my yoke is easy and My burden is light." 10:04 The religious leaders didn't get it. 10:06 The Sabbath was about the gospel. 10:10 But they thought it was about, 10:12 "Hey, you can't do this, you can't do that." 10:13 And that's why so many people 10:16 lose their kids, 10:20 because it's all don't do it. 10:24 Sabbath represents divine rest, the human restlessness. 10:30 We need His rest because it's healing for the soul. 10:34 That's why the New York Times article hits a raw nerve. 10:39 Because even these liberals say, 10:44 we're so crazy with all of our stupid digital devices 10:49 that we need to lay them aside for one day in seven. 10:55 If you go along to a church usually and people... 10:58 You know why? 11:00 They've gone crazy. 11:01 I'm not laughing. They've gone crazy. 11:04 Can't hear God speak to them. 11:11 New York Times says we need a digital Sabbath. 11:14 They're right. 11:16 Five other Sabbath miracles I recorded, 11:18 making a total of seven. 11:19 We're gonna go through them real fast. 11:21 Number one, we've already noticed this. 11:24 The man with the evil spirit. 11:26 Number two, the man with the deformed hand. 11:30 Luke 14, we're not going to turn up the text, 11:32 the man with the swollen arms and legs. 11:36 Number four, the man who was sick for 38 years. 11:41 You know how long Israel was in the wilderness for? 11:44 Thirty eight years. 11:45 The man born blind, blind from birth. 11:49 Who does that represent? The world. 11:53 A woman with a raging fever, 11:55 Mark 1, the woman with the evil spirit 11:57 bent double for 18 years, and the Pharisees said, 12:02 "You can't heal her for two reasons. 12:04 She's a woman and secondly, it's the Sabbath." 12:08 That's the stupidity of religion without God. 12:14 We need Jesus, my friends. 12:17 All these sicknesses represent man without God. 12:20 Think about it. 12:21 Deformed, 38 years an invalid, 12:27 demon possessed, 12:29 swollen with sin, swollen, 12:32 blind from birth spiritually, 12:35 a raging fever, 12:36 hotheads, bent double, crippled with pain. 12:44 He healed on His Sabbath 12:45 because He wanted the world to know that 12:47 His Sabbath of rest that 12:49 is represented by the seventh day, 12:53 His Sabbath of rest that represents the gospel of grace 12:57 when accepted by faith in Christ 13:01 is the most potent healing force 13:03 in the world today. 13:05 Listen to me. 13:07 I ask you this question, my fellow Americans. 13:11 Was America a better place when mums and dads 13:15 went to church on the weekend and took their kids? 13:18 Was it a better place? Of course, it was. 13:21 You know what's happening today? 13:22 These kids that are going out and shooting everybody, 13:25 you know what the problem is? 13:27 They probably never ever been told that Jesus loves them. 13:32 What America needs 13:34 is a rebirth of going to church. 13:38 So the New York Times got it right. 13:41 Partly right. 13:43 Whatever happened to the human race? 13:45 This is a question unanswered by the New York Times. 13:49 Now let me tell it to you straight, 13:52 and clear, and plain, 13:53 and simple, who will listen? 13:56 Listening to a guy on, was it KNX 1070? 14:00 He said, "When I hear about these shootings, 14:02 I get so angry," he said, "I'm so mad today." 14:05 Don't get mad, do something about it. 14:08 Stop the platitudes. 14:12 The big problem is not a gun, the big problem is the person 14:17 who is deranged who's got the gun, you see? 14:25 All right, whatever happened to the human race? 14:28 Men and women, boys and girls have been 14:32 fed chocolate coated candies full of Darwinian arsenic. 14:39 Did you get that? 14:40 Man is the product of blind impersonal forces. 14:43 That's what they are taught. 14:45 Maybe not you, but young people are, 14:49 and they are taught this in the name of science. 14:53 Here is the new philosophy. 14:55 One of the biggest problems with the church 14:58 and with many ministers 15:01 and with many Christians is that 15:02 they're living on cloud nine 15:05 and they do not know what is going on in the world. 15:09 Completely out of touch with humanity... 15:17 irrelevant. 15:22 Listen to this, the new insanity. 15:24 Nothing, this is what is believed. 15:26 Nothing produces everything. 15:30 Non-life produces life. 15:33 Randomness produces fine tuning. 15:37 Chaos produces information. 15:40 Unconsciousness produces consciousness. 15:43 Non-reason produces reason. 15:46 I would suggest that you look at it. 15:49 This is what is taught today in every American University, 15:55 except little private universities 15:59 and all the universities overseas. 16:03 Some of you may be sitting here, 16:04 those of you who do very little reading, 16:09 pardon my saying this, 16:11 and spend most of your time watching television. 16:16 You may find it very hard to understand 16:18 what's happening to the young people. 16:20 Young people know these things. 16:21 They would never contradict me, 16:24 because they believe what I'm telling you. 16:27 William Provine of Cornell University said, 16:31 "If Darwinism is true, 16:34 then there are five inescapable conclusions. 16:39 There is no evidence for God. 16:42 There is no life after death. 16:44 There is no absolute foundation for right or wrong. 16:48 There is no ultimate meaning in life, 16:51 and people don't really have free will. 16:54 No wonder people go out and kill each other. 17:00 This is the new insanity taught in the universities, 17:04 taught in every great American university, 17:06 every state university worldwide, 17:08 including the great Sydney University. 17:10 Ask my son David. 17:13 He got a degree from Sydney University. 17:15 He was told by one of his professors, 17:18 "Nothing you do really matters. 17:20 Just get out of bed in the morning. 17:23 Doesn't matter what you do, because there's no meaning." 17:27 This teaching which is taught in every university 17:31 leads to despair, hopelessness, depression, lawlessness, 17:35 promiscuity, suicide, rape, alcoholism, drug addiction, 17:40 the killing of helpless babies. 17:43 Kill the babies, they're nothing. 17:46 School shootings, racism, because I'm better than others, 17:50 you see, because of my color, 17:52 and every other social and moral evil. 17:57 Some people call this progressiveness, 17:59 I call it insanity. 18:04 Now there is an antidote 18:05 and the solution to this insanity. 18:09 Genesis 1:26 and 27, first book in the Bible. 18:13 Read your Bible every day, folks. 18:17 Be smart. 18:18 Don't be brainwashed. 18:20 Genesis1:26 and 27, "Then God said, 18:24 'Let Us make man in Our image, 18:28 according to Our likeness, let them have dominion 18:30 over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, 18:33 and over the cattle over all the earth 18:35 and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.' 18:37 So God created man in His own image, 18:41 in the image of God He created him, 18:43 male and female He created them.'" 18:45 Listen to me, you listen to me. 18:47 Look at me. 18:49 The great antidote is recognition that 18:54 there is a personal God 18:55 and God made me in His own image. 18:58 Therefore I am unique and glorious 19:01 because I am a child of God. 19:05 And so is the little baby in the mother's womb. 19:10 Hey, that getting close to somebody, 19:13 the little baby in the mother's womb, 19:14 it's not sacred? 19:16 Yes, it is. It's a child of God. 19:21 And so God made me, Genesis 2:1-3 now, 19:25 Genesis 2:1-3, 19:26 "Thus the heavens and the earth, 19:28 and all the hosts of them were finished. 19:29 And on the seventh day God ended His work 19:32 which He had made, 19:33 and He rested on the seventh day 19:34 from all His work which He had done. 19:36 Then God blessed the seventh day 19:39 and sanctified IT, 19:40 because in it He rested one all His work 19:42 which God had created and made." 19:45 Listen, God said, 19:48 "Even people in Eden may forget. 19:52 And certainly when they sin, they will forget. 19:55 Therefore, I will give them out weekly memorial, 20:00 so that they will remember 20:04 I made them and I love them." 20:09 That's the anchor for the lonely crowd. 20:13 That's divine rest for human restlessness. 20:17 Belief and trust in a personal loving creator, 20:19 Jesus Christ who made us in His own image. 20:22 The Sabbath is God's reminder. 20:25 And it says, Remember, there's so many folks know, 20:31 I've been to Russia many times, 49 times, Russia and Ukraine. 20:35 Had vast crowds, probably spoke to more 20:37 atheists face to face than anybody else 20:40 in recent times, at least. 20:41 I would tell these vast crowds, you're not an animal, 20:44 you're not a machine, you're a child of God. 20:48 Then I would tell them what happened. 20:50 They knew what happened in Russia 20:51 when the communists rejected belief in God. 20:55 Millions were murdered in the death camps. 20:58 I've been to Siberia, 21:00 I've stood in the graves places 21:03 where hundreds of thousands were corpses. 21:07 At Mega Don in the Far East, 21:09 they sent over a group of people 21:11 on the Trans Siberian express that 21:13 I've traveled on numerous occasions. 21:16 They got them on this big ship 21:17 to send them up north to Magadan. 21:20 They were crying out for food and because they complain, 21:23 the atheists hose them down in the middle of winter. 21:27 You know what happened? 21:28 Immediately he became blocks of ice, 10,000. 21:33 Why? Because man is nothing. 21:39 Most young people do not know this. 21:41 This is a great fault with our educational system. 21:45 They're not even taught these things. 21:49 Don't let them forget. 21:52 The death of God always leads to the death of man. 21:54 Never, never ever forgot what happened 21:56 when the atheists got in control. 21:58 The Christian Sabbath 22:00 is an anchor for the lonely crowd, 22:02 so that we will never forget the source 22:03 of happiness and sanity. 22:06 So I say to people, my American friends, 22:09 my Australian friends, go to church, go to church, 22:15 take your children to church, go to a church, 22:17 where Jesus is Lord, 22:19 and where His commandments are respected. 22:22 And don't go to a church 22:23 where the pastor talks politics. 22:28 Go to a church where Christ is preached. 22:32 America stood high in the world when people went to church. 22:36 When I was in Russia, I never forget it. 22:40 The hopelessness of the people who'd come and see me. 22:43 Look at Genesis 2:1-3 again, it says this, 22:47 "Thus the heavens and the earth, 22:48 and all the host of them were finished. 22:50 And on the seventh day, God ended His work 22:51 which He had done, 22:53 and He rested on the seventh day 22:54 from all His work which He had done. 22:56 Then God blessed the seventh day 22:57 and sanctified it, 22:59 because in it He rested from all His work 23:01 which God had created and made. 23:05 So that makes the Sabbath, not my Sabbath, 23:09 not the Jewish Sabbath, 23:12 it makes the Sabbath the rest day, the blessed day, 23:15 God put a blessing in. 23:17 You say, "Well, I can do it." 23:18 No, no, you can't put a blessing in it. 23:20 You're not God. 23:22 The rest day, the blessed day, the best day. 23:26 It's a test day and also go to church 23:28 and expect it to be the miracle day 23:32 when God heals people. 23:34 When the Sabbath is observed with Christ in the heart, 23:37 it is a mighty bulwark against the insanity of sin. 23:41 Christ works miracles. 23:43 Carl Bath who stood up against Hitler said, 23:46 "When the holy day becomes the day of man, 23:49 society and humanity wither away 23:52 and the demons rule." 23:53 That's what's happening in America. 23:54 The demons are ruling in America 23:58 because man has forgotten God. 24:00 I say to people, remember Russia, China, North Korea, 24:05 Cambodia, they went crazy. 24:08 They forgot God was their Creator 24:11 and the demons rule. 24:13 When are we going to wise up? 24:20 Therefore it is high time to return to the Creator, 24:23 Christ the Lord. 24:25 And remember his words, not my words, 24:29 the words of Almighty God. 24:32 Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. 24:35 Therefore, what would I say to you? 24:37 Go to church. Take your children to church. 24:41 The parents will say, "We don't care. 24:43 They can make up their own minds 24:44 when they grow up." 24:47 What a terrible sin to throw your children 24:51 into the fire without hope. 24:55 Go to church. Take your children to church. 24:59 Accept a miracle. 25:01 Remember also what Jesus said, "Come unto Me, 25:06 all you who labor and are heavy laden, 25:09 and I will give you rest, Sabbath in the heart. 25:14 His rest is the cure of the insanity 25:19 that rules the world. 25:22 Therefore, what would I say to you now? 25:26 I would say the words 25:27 that my beloved Jewish friend say, 25:31 as the sun sinks low in the west on Friday, 25:36 Shabbat Shalom. 25:39 And as Jesus said, 25:42 "When He came down 25:44 on Mount Sinai in all His glory, 25:47 He said to His people, 25:50 "Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy." 25:56 The true Sabbath with Christ in our heart 26:06 is God's solution 26:09 to the insanity of sin. 26:14 In the name of the Father, 26:17 and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. 26:21 Amen.
